About Creo

Creo is the latest evolution of the workhorse of the industry: Pro/Engineer. After more than 30 years of development, Creo is without a doubt the most full-featured and powerful CAD package available. The latest releases have made this power more accessible than ever to design departments both large and small. Subscription pricing brings the power of Creo down to an initial investment of as little as $2,200 a seat. Creo can directly open and export data from most common CAD systems.

Pros: It is easy to navigate while working on CAD work. The view is really easy to work with once you understand the concept.

Cons: References could be a nightmare when you have to update the geometry several layers after. Need some used to.

I use Creo View Express a couple days a week to help show what I am achieving.

Pros: I really like the ease of assembling parts together. I also like how parts can be labeled to help in presenting or explaining what certain things do.

Cons: The one thing that I have a hard time with is that there are so many features that it took a while find all of the ones that I think are useful and learn how to use them.

Overall: I thought it was great for making presentations to groups on projects I am currently working on.

I have been using PTC 3D modeling packages for about 11 years.

Pros: I love that with this software I can share my 3D models with other non-engineers easily and quickly. They don't need to be an engineer to understand or use it.

Overall: You can share 3D models with anyone quickly and easily!

Creo View Express is a great little viewing program for your 2D drawings and 3D solid models.

Pros: It's a great program for viewing 2D drawings and 3D models. It's free, so non-engineers can use it without having to have an expensive seat of Creo, and it also allows them to make notes for the engineers.

Cons: It would always be nice to have more features, but it's a free program, so you get what you pay for.

Overall: It's a nice, free tool that allows our non-engineers view drawings and models and make notes about them.

Comments: The usability of the software is very much engineering process based and applying features is very smooth and it gives the notifications every time you make something beyond the reality. The main reason i like this program is just because it seems it has its own brain that suggests you and prevents you to do as per the universal law. And that makes the design manufacturable.

The disadvantage i think is its not for kids to play like game. its only engineering design tool.
PTC should add the capability of mechanical animation like we work in MAYA and 3DMAX.
