User friendly, easy to implement and maintain. Pros This is an easy and intuitive software product. It was easily implemented, volunteers quickly trained, and the on-going use is simple. It provides all necessary information at the hands of every volunteer who needs it from care techs to evaluators to the adoption coordinator to our founder. Cons The only draw back, but I understand is in the works, is to easily download and generate reports. Data is often needed for grant writing and the details are easily accessible but a report has to be had designed. Downloading the data would be much easier and less time consuming. Alternatives considered [Stable Secretary](https://www.capterra.com/p/129021/Stable-Secretary/) Reasons for choosing BarnManager Easy to use and available on a smart device which keeps information at your fingertips at all times. Good detail tracking without being overcomplicated. They have a great support team and it is free for a non-profit equine rescue, which I did not know to begin with that was a big added bonus. Pros We use BarnManager to keep farrier records, vet visit and vaccination record, as well as client information and contracts. This enables our staff to quickly search for last farrier dates, past records, and more. We also use the conversations feature to communicate messages and photos with clients, and have found this a nice way for staff and clients to keep in touch without having to search for cell phone numbers. Customer service is amazing; any time we have a question they are quick to answer in the chat feature and we are so thankful for amazing attentive service. Cons We have not been able to use the calendar and feed feature as much as we envisioned as these are rapidly changing day by day on our busy ranch, and we are not sure if it integrates with our preexisting calendar apps we use on our phones. We probably could use a refresher course on new features to be honest! We also have not been using the integration with Quickbooks as we have an accountant who helps us with that already, but see the integration as a valuable feature and we would totally use it if we did not already have an accountant. Pros I help get our riding barn to select this software. It helps our secretary at the barn list all of the competitions and keeps them on alert. She puts in all of the riders and the times they are scheduled to have a riding lesson and with which instructor. The horses they are to ride is listed as well and a print out is posted weekly for all of us to see. We have it set up to know which horses have vet visits and which horses need certain extra care during those vet visits. The finances are put in and the accounting dept still is able to pay bills and see what is due. So far we have been using it about 3 months and have multiple users on it but have found it to be a lot less work than writing on a whiteboard and hanging in the barn. We also split our program between 2 farms during the winter. Barn manager allows everyone to know what is going on with the horses and is easily accessible for each staff member therefore each person is accountable for knowing what is going on with the horses. Pros I really like how user friendly the software is for everyone. I have multiple people that use the program with varying levels of computer skills. Everyone has been able to quickly pick up on how to use barn manager. Customer support is also great. The response time is quick and I always get an answer or my problem solved. Cons I wish there would be notifications sent for the app so you know without opening your email or opening the program daily to see if someone has added or changed something. With 30 horses in our care we not have an easy way to keep everyone's medical information up to date. Cons It would be helpful to be able to type in 'other' when there isn't a label available for horses. Pros I was at a point of taking my very small business to the next level. For 7 years I have been the only staff member. I reached a level of being able to hire instructors and barn staff. I was looking for a way to streamline my business organization and professionalism. I had thought about needing to hire an office assistant - after trying this program I soon realized that it would service all of my needs and that I did not have to hire an office person Cons Sometimes it’s glitchy and some things are updated on desktop version but not on a mobile app. I will say however that the staff professionalism exceptionally helpful and quick to help wherever needed! They are open and willing. As a visual person - I do wish that it was all a little more easy on the eye and more modern looking a feeling.
