Pros: In 2018, most startups I know don't have a permanent office, but are on the road constantly. To have an office line route to a mobile phone is surprisingly difficult. The choices are either set up a costly business line at the home office, or pay a dodgy company (usually based in Africa) no rates for poor service.

I was excited to see Optus Loop's prices and to have the service I need supported by a company I knew.

When I did have an issue, their support representative was above and beyond friendly and helpful in his tone. I only wish his professionalism could fix the underlying shoddy service.

Cons: Let me count the ways:

-POOR MOBILE APP

Answered calls from within the app rarely pick up and require me to call the number back. Unless the number is private, which is usually is. I was able to answer around 60% of the calls that came in.

-POOR BILLING PRACTICES

The only way to receive a bill is by physical mail - for a service that is advertised for people who don't have a physical office. No direct debit. No emailed invoices.

-CANCELLING SERVICE WITHOUT NOTICE

Although I check emails daily, answer texts, and log into the Optus Loop backend, none of these methods were used to let me know my account was past due (I moved house and invoices were being sent the the old address.) Their billing team made contact with me one time, whilst I was in the middle of a meeting. I asked them to please call back in 3 hours. Instead, they shut off my service without notice. The only way I found out was from a negative customer review saying the phone number advertised didn't work.

Overall: Very friendly support staff for a very, very poor service. I am actively looking for a replacement.

Pros: Easy to access and manage services from the portal

Cons: Can loop back on itself a bit, links are named similarly and can be confusing to new users

Overall: Overall I prefer the functionality of the Optus Loop over the Telstra counterpart
