It made getting my tax return submitted quite simple. Pros I was a first time user expecting issues with the unfamiliar system but it proved easy. I got a reduction as a which member and was amazed that I paid only 3% of my normal accountants bill. Ok my demands were simple but I felt I had more control. Support was outstanding. I asked about payments on account and by the time I had given access permissions, there was not just an answer, but support had made the change needed and copied over the modified tax page as evidence. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was superb. Cons None really. It took a few minutes to get to grip with the quirks of the system but that is always the case in my experience. The link to pay HMRC looked a little awkward perhaps more set up for card payment so I simply used an existing transfer set up for HMRC. Pros The software is user-friendly, intuitive and has helped me to be more organized when it comes to my company finances. Support is there when you need it but that is the exception rather than the rule. Cons Everything integrated as I hoped. It's sometimes difficult with new software when it's hard to navigate and doesn't do what it says it would. Not in this case. The software does everything it says is does. Simply. I later found out I was a fool and that I should be using the free HMRC one. I then find out that the price has hiked again and all the customer support team say is "Over the last 12 months, we have added lots of new features and made software improvements to give you the best possible experience when filing your self-assessment tax return" as if that makes it ok. What are they? I doubt i'll need them. Who asked for them? What a terrible excuse. If I started charging more for making my software better people would stop using it. I will thus be stopping using it Cons The support team. The inability to modify a filed return and having to ring HMRC and sit on hold for 40mins anyway. Our help centre (https://support.gosimpletax.com/portal/kb/gosimpletax/general) also provides information on how users can unsubscribe without the need to contact us. Unfortunately we have had to increase prices at this difficult time, a decision taken prior to the Coronavirus outbreak, and not taken easily. This is not to profiteer but to make the business sustainable, allowing us to keep the product current/compliant, invest in new features to make it better and continue providing a high level of UK based support.
