We have recently expanded our purchases with them to include visitor management and attendance and could not be happier with the product for student management! PikMyKid has increased our safety and efficiency during dismissal. Pros PikMyKid has not only decreased the overall amount of time our dismissal team spends on getting our students safely to cars, it has increased our accuracy in dismissal plan communication. Our dismissal time prior to PikMyKid was about 23 minutes, this includes classroom communication, organization of a dismissal room and walking students out to cars or signing parents into the building. Our current, daily time averages 12 mins. in total. Cons This program does have a fairly step learning curve for both parents and the dismissal team. It requires a significant investment in WiFi by the district as well. We needed a safe and reliable way to get students to their parents/guardians quickly because of the large number of students being picked up in the short time. I am thankful we have this program in place. Cons The software doesn't constantly link with our opperating system and so we have to manually enter new students. Pros I am so thankful for the automated format of the dismissal process. I used to be the person that kept track of all the changes and schedules. The system has saved me 15 to 20 hours a week. The weight has been lifted that the onus for student schedule changes is on the parents, not on me. Additionally, having this system in place was crucial as I had a medical emergency last school year and was out of work for over a month. The system allowed my co-workers to continue operations smoothly in my absence and I didn't have to worry about the dismissal process during my recovery. Both the customer support and the dashboard are helpful and responsive, often updating to offer new features to meet the changing needs of our school. We use the dismissal system and the hall pass system at our school. Pros Pikmykid allows all of our students to stay in their classroom with their teacher until their ride has arrived at school. Previously we moved students to two holding areas during dismissal, which meant ending the instructional day earlier for the transition and created behavior management issues with large numbers of students waiting in the same space for up to 30 minutes until a ride arrived. As a lottery based enrollment school, the large majority of our almost 700 students are car riders. Pikmykid transformed our dismissal and our days end in a more peaceful and organized manner as students dismiss from their classrooms each afternoon. We have used it for four years now and are very happy with the product and customer service. Because the product is designed for schools and other year-round programs, we had to do a little tweaking to integrate into a short-term program (our campers change weekly), but the folks at PikMyKid were very helpful and made the whole thing pain-free. Pros \- Amazing customer service.- Product is well thought out and tested. It has all the features needed to ensure an easy and safe arrival and dismissal. At the same time, it doesn't have a thousand different features which detract from the main purpose and aren't really needed. -Ensures a safe dismissal-- kids only go home with folks who they are supposed to. - Easy to use and implement. PMK provides thorough training and has lots of resources available. The product is also easy to test and practice with on your own and with your staff. - Our parents love it. Anytime you have to change procedures with parents, there is prone to be backlash. The fact that PMK is an easy to use app and is straight forward, the majority of parents love it and didn't complain about the implementation. Cons \- When on the "dispatch" screen, you have to keep it up and actively monitoring because there is currently no chime or notification to let you know that a parent has arrived. Probably not an issue for schools that have a set dismissal time, but when you have a window (ie. aftercare, 3:30-5:30), it would be helpful to have a chime or noise so that you didn't have to literally be sitting at the screen.-Like anything, there are certain limitations to the interface and design. That's expected. Reason for choosing Pikmykid I can't even remember the other companies name, but they were brand new and their product was still in testing-- not all features fully functional. We wanted a product that was more established and tested. Over the years we've been introduced to other products, but again, stuck with PikMyKid. PikMyKid has the features we need and use. I was tasked with implementing a dismissal program my first year as an administrator, as the current format saw too many student near misses in the parking lot. PikMyKid has helped create a clear routine and procedure for dismissal that is easy to follow and also places ownership back on the families as well. Parents are responsible for delegating or updating their child's dismissal mode, if the parent does not update the mode, we will send the student on their designate mode of transportation so that we are able to facilitate a smooth process. This has helped speed up dismissal as well as time is not lost searching for a student. Pros We appreciate how the system flows for our dismissal at the end of the day. We are able to quickly get students out the door, in their vehicles or on school busses. The car line has been integral to the success of our implementation. Cons When parents that have the app are within our established radius of school, they are still not auto-announcing that they are at school, so we have to manually enter in the student car tag numbers. Any issue that I have had on a parent's end has been resolved in less than 15 minutes via e-mail and less than 5 if I've had to call PMK. They have called or e-mailed multiple times to check in and see how our transition has gone. (going from 4 elementary's to 1) From a tech support side, they have been super easy to deal with and very easy to get a hold of. Pros I like the number of features it has. While currently we are basically just using the after-school dismissal system, there are other features that we would like to implement as well full time if we can get parents to download the system. Cons I wish there was a way to link siblings together and not have to manually enter each one by number. There may be a way to do this, but I am unaware of it. Reason for choosing Pikmykid Cost and the warranty of Car Rider Pro. For School Pass it was the fact that PMK would get back to me with answers to my questions a lot faster. If all stakeholders are on board and using it appropriately, it's possible to know the dismissal plans/whereabouts of each and every student within about 7 seconds. Cons There are a lot of small things that make PMK less user-friendly than we would like. You have to take absent students out of the system one-by-one, you need to log out and in each day in order to have updated dismissal plans (some teachers have a hard time with this), and it took a long time to get enough buy-in with all of our stakeholders for it to truly be effective. Teachers can project the carline queue onto screens in their room, so students can begin packing up before their name is called. Pros We love that parents are able to use the app to mark students absent or to delegate their pickup to someone else. When parents mark their child absent in the app, we can skip the phone call when reconciling attendance. We have also made use of the messaging capabilities to let parents know when athletic practice had to be cancelled for some reason or other. Cons I wish there was an easy way to add a kid to a parent or drive who has already announced themselves. Sometimes we get last minute calls from parents who have missed the delegation cut off and it would be easier to just add a kid or kids to a specific student, rather than deleting someone already announced so that I can look them up and add them back with their carpool rider. " July 17, 2021 5.0 PikMyKid has helped us keep our students safe. Before we had the system our students would wait outside for parent pickup. We are in Arizona so temperatures can reach over 110 degrees which is dangerous for anyone to be outside. There was also much chaos during driveline. Now, our students and staff stay indoors during driveline and parents don't need to get out of their cars. They just announce they have arrived and their child is sent to them. Our stakeholders love it and so do we! Pros The implementation team and support team has been wonderful. The've been with us every step of the way through implementation and beyond! Huge shout out to \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], and the rest of the team! Cons We didn't have any dislikes for the system. The only thing that comes to mind is manually updating staff when using an API. February 4, 2021 5.0 PikMyKid has allowed us to streamline our dismissal process. We need fewer people to help supervise the students outside since we have fewer students waiting at one time. In addition, the app has cut out all the phone calls in the afternoon, freeing up our office staff to tend to other matters. Pros Launching PikMyKid was very easy to do. Our parents love the efficiency and only having students who are "announced" outside in the carpool line means we need less supervision during carpool time. We used to get lots of phone calls at the end of the day with parents changing their afternoon schedule and our office staff having to send messages to the classrooms, making dismissal time quite busy. We no longer get phone calls! Parents simply change their schedule on their app and the teacher is able to direct the students to the proper dismissal area, cutting out all the back and forth communication. Especially this year, with COVID, we are able to stagger our dismissal to keep the cohorts separate and it has helped us tremendously with our ability to open school, in-person. Cons I can't think of anything negative about the software/program. Reason for choosing Pikmykid We chose PMK for its ability to customize. You can use the simple basic functions of just carpool or add all the afterschool activities and even use it as a sign-in/out tool.
