We love it for our large organisation. Pros The visiual presentations of the strategy and progress in implementing it is very powerful. We are able to 'democratise' strategy execution across a fairly large organisation to help align everyone behind the strategy. Cons We have made suggestions for improvement which the company has responded to. These include a little more role based control and integration functionality. Reasons for choosing StrategyBlocks The functions of strategic planning and tracking software cross over with portfolio management tools, btut they are not the same. StrategyBlocks is a native strategy planning and execution tool and works far better than those which have arisen from the portfolio space. However, the unexpected benefit of adopting Strategy Blocks has been of greater value. We have seen greater engagement in our shared purpose, more alignment between staff and managers have the confidence to empower and delegate. This has been my experience of adopting Strategy Blocks in multiple organisations. Pros Strategy blocks finds a sweet spot between structure and versatility. On the one hand it provides a basic structure, effectively a family tree format to create a plan. It is such a simple concept, to allow a "branching out" of your plan. This in turn will align, empower and enable delegation. Any organisation with a shared goal will welcome these dynamics. On the other hand, although this basic structure is simple, it also allows a group to build a completely tailored plan. A plan which can be detailed, complex, multi-faceted and evolving. In this sense, you can use the software to varying degrees. Simply to track the basics at the "top" of the plan. Or drill down into the detail, keeping everything connected along the way. Through trial and error, I have found that the more people whom are involved and the more your organisation puts into Strategy Blocks, the more it will give back to you. Cons It's not particularly simple to use. In that it is not intuitive. If your plan becomes lengthy, the navigation features do the job, but inevitably there is some wandering around whilst you get familiar with the interfaces. That said, implementing and delivering a strategic plan is a complex process and this program can handle it. SO glad I found this software! Pros We are a small non-profit and I literally couldn't believe this software was as inexpensive as it is. I expected some big catch during the demo, but no, you really get a fantastic product for an extremely reasonable price - in fact, the annual fee is what others charge monthly! It gives me just what I need to show my Board where we are at-a-glance, but with the ability to dive deeper if there are questions. Cons I am pretty tech-savvy, but I am sure I am missing something or don't have it set up just right. Inputting metrics separate from the blocks seemed disjointed for me BUT I am not a strategy specialist so this is not my expertise and could be totally wrong.
