Pros: I really like the way that the lessons are set up in modules. I can skip around or go back and view only the sections I really need to see again vs. watching something all over again.

Cons: so far I don't have any Cons. I really like the way that things are set up and te content has been very well done.

Overall: So far I have been learing Power BI, but I am looking forward to the other lessons as well. I have learned many valuable tips.

I found the software is easy to use and have features I need.

Pros: Easy to use. The instructors have updated knowledge and the video is helpful. And there are learning paths to help me choose the trainings.

Cons: The quality of the sound track is not very good. No brief explanations of solution to the quiz. Wish to have more virtual lab or practice time.

Really good on demand training videos and training documents.

Pros: Some very good tips that I think only can be known from a consulting company experience. The scenarios and code examples used are very clear and applicable to real life development.

Cons: I see very few things about this training material I do not like. The only thing is that it costs more than many video training courses, but when considering the great content, I would buy it again. In fact, nothing. I did the trial and had time to really evaluate the content. Almost all my training is computer based and "good" videos and at my level get me to my learning goals quickest. At my advanced level most videos do not offer much insight, but these videos give the added concepts and techniques I did not see in many other video programs. These videos might not be at a low enough level for many newbies, but I find a learn something from each module.

Pros: How thorough and useful each course is. I frequently go back and step through a particular video in order to duplicate it at work. I am especially fond of anything taught by rep. He's a great teacher - organized, interesting, enthusiastic, and his demos are clear and easy to follow.

Cons: Library is huge, please add a search. Honestly, that's all I can think of.

Get rep to teach more classes!

Overall: I am more productive at work. I learn technology/techniques relevant to my job, that I otherwise would not have.

Pros: Training is step-by-step with clear examples and it's easy to understand. The chapters are good lengths, most under 25 minutes.

Cons: I wish there was an easy way to look up something I learned - a quick-sheet that I can search on (i.e. sum columns from different tables)

Overall: Power BI has a long learning curve. Pragmatic works training has been key to my success with Power BI.

Overall, I am pleased.

Pros: Content...
The first course I complete, Intro to Power BI, covered a large range of information.
Instructor product knowledge...

Cons: The lack of streaming speed control.
I like being able to speed "listen" and then review at normal speed anything that I can't/didn't catch the first time.

Thanks for the feedback. That's a fair critique about the playback speed. I've added this to our ideas list. In the meantime, depending on what web browser you are using there's a few tricks to make any video playback speed controllable. I use this one in Chrome. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-speed-controller/nffaoalbilbmmfgbnbgppjihopabppdk?hl=en

Pros: What I like most about the course was ability to be a self paced course. I could take the course when I had time to take it and I liked having the ability to rewind the course to playback parts that I may have missed.

Cons: What I liked least about the software was the fact that it seemed geared toward more of an advanced user of SQL and not so much a beginner. The first several modules were very nice because they seemed geared toward the beginner SQL user, but after about module 5 or 6, it seemed to get too advanced.

Overall: Being a new SQL user, I was able to familiarize myself with alot of the processes of running queries.

Pros: Like the lesson layout; good demos; nice integration of examples/demos in lessons so they are not all slides; quick quiz is a nice recap of the things learned after modules

Cons: Resolution of the videos is not optimized for iPad so demos screens are not clear making it hard to see and follow. I'm using iPad Pro, and its almost impossible to see the content in the spreadsheet during video.

Pros: It seems to a very complete and up to date. I like the videos and test afterwards. The course navigation is also very intuitive.

Cons: No real complaints so far. One suggestion would be a quiz at the beginning that would help you level set you going in knowledge and maybe what things to skip.

Pros: It's easy to find the courses. It follows the K.I.S.S which is great for me since I'm so busy. I don't want to spend time searching for what I need

Cons: I'd like more Azure courses. Content not related to BI would be great to include. Other than that, I don't have many cons

Pros: I like that it applies directly to the environment that I work in, very relevant. I am very interested in continuing to explore the BI suite of training.

Cons: On occasion, I will pause the session and come back 5 minutes later and the session will all of the sudden stop working and I have to refresh the screen. Some times the session picks back up where I left off, other times it starts it back over from the beginning.

Pros: For on demand / online training this is pretty good. The topic coverage has been in depth and useful. The quizzes can be a little vague in some of the questions, but the reinforcement is a must have. Resuming a session takes you back to the very place you were in the videos, again a big plus. Overall an excellent buy for my employer, and an excellent use of time for me.

Cons: Two points: There are errors in the videos that should be edited out, but they remain in. Also, there is no VM /sandbox support. To follow along means you have to install the software -and databases- on your local machine. If you don't have admin rights to do this, then you may not be able to do the hands along with the instructor. Having a remote sandbox environment would ensure that the training could be followed exactly as it is presented.

Overall: The training is actually very good, if you can ignore some of the minor issues. It is immediately applicable -if- you have the access to the software and systems to use it.

Pros: I love that it can be completed at your own pace and you can pick up where you left off. It keeps track of your progress throughout and the amount of content is awesome. They keep adding new things and I get notified when new content is added. The courses are very relevant to my current job role and it's helped me be more successful at my job. So far all the presenters have been great, they are easy to understand and explain things in just the right amount of detail without to much to where it can get boring and seem like it takes forever to get to something important.

Cons: I do miss the live interaction you get from a classroom setting, but to have this vast amount of content on hand at anytime I think outweighs that con. Other than that, I haven't found any cons.

Overall: On Demand training at my finger tips, which I can complete at my own pace. It keeps track of my progress and content is presented in a clear concise manner.

Pros: There is a good variety of classes based off of what I need to know most in my career path. The courses are easy to understand and it challenges my knowledge and what information I've retained so far. I think that's good.

Cons: Navigation is sometimes tricky. Maybe I'm just not finding it but if I want to see what webinars are available to me, I have to log out and go to the main page to view the "free" portion. I can't seem to locate this within my logged in account.

Pros: Love the flexibility this course offers. I can complete course sections in my home/office and not in a cramped/uncomfortable training room. I enjoy an actual person leading the course, vs. reading a book or a computer prompt walking me through the section.

Cons: Would appreciate the option to playback at a faster speed, such as 1.5 or 2.0 times faster. Sometimes presenters speak slowly or there are breaks in the presentation that would benefit from a faster playback option.

Pros: We have liked most the variety of topics and coverage that is included here. We like the ability to have our guys do short modules when they have questions on certain topics.

Cons: It is nice to have the short reviews after each section of the training. But it would be nice to also have a more thorough assessment at the end of the entire training that you could use to gauge how much a person really learned.

Pros: I like that it starts simple & builds. The example files given are very helpful & that it gives them after each module section in case you miss something. I like that there is so much for me to learn, hours of training. I have a lot left to do & am looking forward to building on what I have learned. Overall, I have told others here good things about this training.

Cons: In the Power BI Dashboard, the introduction/summaries are a bit too long for me. The excel modules weren't like that. There was a little too much talking in the Power BI ones initially, when I wanted to dive into things. It would be nice if there was a way to email questions I can't figure out. Having an electronic list of the main formulas/concepts taught would be helpful.

Overall: Understand how to set up my own Power BI dashboards much better now that I know more about how relationships are connected & how to write the formulas to pull out some of the data I want. I expect much more in benefits once I finish the training. Glad I have a year to do that.

Pros: Allows me to progress at my own pace. In general the modules to a course are broken up into easily consumable chunks. Presenters are excellent.

Cons: Files that you download are designed to be installed at the root of the C: drive. It would be preferred to have it installed at the root if the C: drive in a Pragmatics folder. As it is all courses expand to their own folder.

Examples need to be reviewed/retested. Occasionally examples could use some refreshing.

Pros: Generally easy to use and setup. The content is so robust to the point I need more time in the duration of my year subscription just to get through much of it.

Cons: My only issue with the interface overall is that is isn't great at marking where you left off. It saves by chapters completed but but at a specific time stamp. Also, it would be helpful to have the labs and documentation software readily available in an icon on the border of the screen; or somewhere you don't have to stop, get out of the lesson to go find the resources needed.

The industry experience that goes into these courses is invaluable.

Pros: Real world problems highlighted and explained. Best practices noted. You feel like you are being personally mentored by an experienced pro. Overall the best bang for your training dollars. The fact that you can work at your own pace is great. Did I mention that I love all the instructors!

Purchased the training package for my personal use.

Cons: The tests could be better. Software is a little clunky on the extras side - not obvious what badges are and communications with instructor is slow.

Overall: Better able to oversee the programmers that work for me and the ability to work on projects to help meet tight deadlines.

I like it and the availability to look at videos over again helps out.

Pros: Being able to re-view the videos helps about a great deal. I have viewed a couple over and over and if I went to a two day seminar, I wouldn't be able to do that.

The trainings have been great! A lot of really good information.

Pros: I specially like the extra materials that come with the training (exercises). I also like the availability or some very specialized courses that are hard to find anywhere else as well as the courses for very new products in the market

Cons: I would like to see more bundles. Perhaps a middle tier package of 5 classes for a mid price point between 1 class and all the classes

Overall: Ability to train a large number of new junior employees on a short period of time.

Pragmatic works definitely has the best training material for SQL and MSBI related topics.

Pros: The topics were current and the presenters were very knowledgeable in their area of expertise. The topics were well grouped and had a good flow, which made it easy to follow.
The examples provided were very practical and something that I could relate to my projects at work.

Cons: I wish there was a little more clear explanation on how to download and install the tools to be used. Also a forum for discussion would be nice.

Pros: The collection has over 30 on-line courses with very good quality of the material, instructors are very good, they know the material, they provide really good examples and practice exercises.

Cons: I think what is missing is discussion among the participants. It would be good to have discussion boards for on-line participants to share experience and ask questions.

Overall: I am learning the tools and this training is very beneficial, it has material on the introduction level as well as advanced. Very well organized and sorted topics.

Pros: There are so many classes to choose from. Each is separated into modules that can be reviewed independently or all together. Classes do not expire within my annual agreement. Training is well done.

Cons: Inability to download the examples and tutorials since this is on demand and not in the classroom. This is a small issue. I just follow along and if time allows I create my own scenarios to test concepts that seem most important.

Overall: Increased knowledge and technical skills. Ability to talk with IT about design.

Pros: I like that this offers the data that will be used during the videos. As someone who learns by doing, I find it very easy to follow along with the trainings because I have the same raw data. I also like that it goes in detail to explain many of the DAX calculations, which I know will be valuable to the dashboards I plan to create.

Cons: I am in a very specialized analytics role and my trouble with this training program and most
videos on this topic is that I sometimes find it difficult to apply it to the data I use. I do not use sales data, so it takes me a little while to figure out how to apply the DAX calculations or visualizations to my work.

Overall: I'm using this to build my DAX and Power BI knowledge

Pros: The SQL Server Data tools classes that they offer including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS were a great introduction for my business unit to train new and existing employees. It introduced new concepts and helped solidify existing knowledge of the tool and exposed staff to shortcuts in Visual Studio development.

Cons: There are very little con's with this training software, however there a couple of things I think would definitely help improve the software. The SSAS instructor for the introduction course seems to go through some sections really quickly so I think slowing down a little bit would be helpful. Also, if there were a couple more hierarchy examples were shown that would be extremely helpful. Also, my team was focusing on Data Warehousing and the task factory suite has a lot of tasks that can help you so a class that goes through creating a ETL process for that would have been helpful.

Overall: We learned a lot of Data Warehousing techniques that we can incorporate in our process. Learned a lot of techniques using SSAS and SSRS and MDX query language.

Pros: The instruction quality is very good. It's also helpful to be able to rewind and listen to an explanation a second time.

Cons: In the current course I'm taking, Introduction to SSAS, some of the labs don't match up to the correct modules.

Pros: Easy to connect anywhere I am. Allowing me to be at work, home or on the go when taking any of this trainings. The webcasts are very useful since they are taught by experts in the area who have first on-hands use of technology, having a very useful way to teach each concept.

Cons: Need to wait for some areas to be available. I would like certain topics to have webinars more often, I understand your consultants are busy but the ideal scenario is to have webinars as soon as new technology is available.

Pros: The curriculum was pretty robust, and the exercises were very applicable in the real world. I took two courses, one introductory level and one more advanced, and I was surprised how well prepared I felt to begin using the software in my day job even after just the introductory course. The advanced course definitely provided more detailed instruction and background information, but for anyone unsure if the introductory course will be enough to move the needle, I would say have no fear!

Cons: While the course did go through some exercises that I could follow along, it would have been great to have a hands-on component to the course.

Pros: The content is excellent and contains real world examples that make it easy to see how you can directly apply the knowledge you gain in your daily work. I also like being able to go back in and review what I need to know when I need to know it. Too often you take a course, then lose what you learned. With PW's on-demand training, you just go back in and review the module when you're ready to apply it to your current situation.

Cons: There are a few trainers I find more engaging than the others, but that's true anywhere. Every trainer I've watched so far has been knowledgeable, organized, and clear in presentation. There are just certain styles I prefer. Your mileage may vary.

Overall: Was able to apply skills I learned directly to my work.

Pros: The training sessions are thorough and clearly defined. The hands-on exercises support the underlying concepts very well.

Cons: The only downside I would say is the fact that an in process session cannot be closed and reopened automatically in the spot where you left off previously.
