It has lots of templates to create everything from a five-minute explainer video for a business to a 30-second birthday video for a personal Facebook page. Pros Animaker is a good value for the money to make animations and create videos quickly. It has templates for different media formats and different business and personal usage. Cons There is a learning curve to make good animations. The animated characters tend to bob their heads if they don't change their actions after a few seconds so that can be a bit distracting. It is possible to make great videos with just a few hours of exploring the website. Pros It's a very versatile program for creating all kinds of animations, especially 2D style. I used it a lot during my school days and it was very easy to learn because of how intuitive it is. Cons In the past, the program used to freeze a lot. At the beginning, it wasn't designed for low-performance computers, especially those in public schools, so I always had to use my personal PC to create the animations with minimal lag. I think they have made it super easy and user friendly and my kiddos love the simplicity of the videos they’re not overly stimulating in the free and basic version and they honestly didn’t take very much time to put together because Lord knows as a teacher of 24 first graders. I do not have a ton of time to get everything done while my kids are at special. Pros I love that when I use Animaker in the free version I can make three 2 minutes (or less) videos each month to share with my kids and students. I love to do this for whatever our topic or virtue of the month is. You can choose to pay the $20 a month and get the basic plan and that has a lot more features available and you can make way more customized videos that are longer to cover each of your class rules, new concepts, and just fun ideas for the month. Cons The free version only gives you three downloads a month on your video needs to be two minutes or less. It creates something cool and unique and they have a lot of good and free features that you can incorporate. Cons It's super glitchy and scenes just start disappearing all of a sudden. Even if the features seem promising on paper, they’re overshadowed by constant lagging and crashes. It's hard to appreciate anything when you're stuck refreshing the app and losing progress repeatedly. Cons I had high hopes for Animaker, but it’s been nothing short of a frustrating experience. The app constantly lags, making it almost impossible to get anything done. Every time I try to create or edit something, it freezes, forcing me to refresh the page and start all over again. It’s incredibly time-consuming and unproductive, especially when you’re in the middle of a project. The lagging issue has been persistent, and it seems like there’s no fix in sight. For an app that's supposed to make animation easier, it’s doing the complete opposite. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you enjoy wasting time and pulling your hair out. Disappointed! 👎 Review Source R Reviewer Founder Used the software for: Less than 1 year ### "Pretty good, yet too expensive for what it is" September 15, 2023 5.0 Once you get past the payment (a bad feeling that doesn't go away because you know month after month after month, on top of all your life expenses, you will have this one on top, all year long... and if you paid the whole year, well, if you're not well-off or not using it for immediate return of investment, it's just a toy that costs way too much, maybe not in the sense of "money" but in the feeling of having to pay for some software which probably you never needed in the first place. Again, that goes for 90% of the software out there, but Animaker almost takes the cake with that month vs year pricing. (again, that just shows they're overcharging at least by that 50% they can afford to "lose") It's sad that everyone's adopting that scheme, especially with AI these days, even if the 365 structure started so many years ago, at least you could still find Software that you could use for life. If there was an upgrade, ok, that was up to you to pay for it or not, but you could still use the software. Now, with everything been run on the cloud or server side, you're actually just "renting" the software, because you don't have anything from it, other than the resulting files. Other than that, we depend on their resources. Anything over $10 usd for something virtual, no matter how useful it can be, is just an example of how greedy people can be: it is just air, nothing more, there's nothing physical, nothing to manufacture. One thing I didn't like, the pricing, although this is something that's happening with all similar software and the merciless and greedy 365 legacy... pay each year, now pay each month, if you pay the hefty price for a year it will save you this much, and if you pay by month, the greed simply shows on how much the price increases. While this happens with every software out there, like copycats of the pricing structure, Animaker seems to be a little greedier than some other options, with the lowest plan being under $13 per month... But NO! wait! that's only if you pay the full year.. . If you need to pay monthly because you can't afford that one big payment, it's going to be twice the price, or almost. $12 and cents vs $24 usd. (ouch, that doesn't show a "discount" or saving as it's presented, it just shows that the software is at least 50% overpriced) Unfortunately that's become the norm for almost every software out there, those that stand out, are the ones that don't treat their customers as suckers who don't know better. February 26, 2021 5.0 I am a foreign language educator and while we are doing quite a bit of distance learning this is coming in very handy to help students understand the short stories and vocabulary I need them to learn/comprehend. Overall I am much happier with this software than the others I have used mostly because it is much easier to have my characters do exactly what I want them to do without having to rewrite my script to match what is available. There are still a few adjustments that need to be made but it is much easier than before. I am anxious to finally have the paid version so I have even more options. Pros I really like that the characters have LOTS of different movement options. I love that I can create my own characters as well with all kinds of options. I also like that some of the extra images also have some default movements. I found it to be very fast in exporting and you don't have to wait while it exports. You can do other things. Having the text to speech built right in is a plus. Other software packages that I have used don't offer nearly the amount of options. Cons The tutorials could be a little more clear. It has a bit of a learning curve. I wish the animal characters were available on the regular version. I also wish it had an offline version so I could continue to work while away from internet. I wish the text to speech had more voice options and that they sounded a little more human. I am still operating on the free version. Perhaps they are better after paying. If someone’s subscribed to a monthly fee, they should have access to all the features and something has to be done about how slow it is when you have to preview every scene! It’s a complete waste of time..Unlike other softwares I’ve used, this took me more than a minute literally to edit each scene and I had over 25 scenes! Secondly, I upgraded to their “starter” package and I was supposed to get 25 assets for free and after adding a few of their video backgrounds, when I went to download my video (after 2 whole days mind you) it said I had to pay for 4 assets that I added and it never notified me when I added it in the first place, so I had to redo all those video parts!! After speaking to them, they said I could use any video assets but to make sure I check that I can add those cuz the ones I added were unavailable! Then why have those in your library? I’m still editing the same video and I have to keep playing it from the start every time I make a change or if something shifts, which it often does! Overall their customer support is good but their app sucks!! Lots of time in editing ! Once the video is ready, you have to upgrade further to have it downloaded in a premium quality. If you add more characters (more than 4), there is an error message saying that it would hinder the quality of the video.
