Manager Computer Software Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "The best test library in town with room to improve in the candidate's evaluation tool" July 28, 2022 4.0 We hire technical resources, and we were lookin for a tool that automates part of the technical skills evaluation. It allow us to pre filter 66% of the candidates, and center our effort in evaluating only the third of candidate that pass the test. It will also let us start the interview reviewing the results with the candidates and makes more easy the interview. Pros Has a great library of tests, and also has some type of question as QA questions, that are esencial to validate some aspects of the candidate that we couldn't find in other test tools. In less than an hour you can implement a very good questionary base only in the actual Question Library. Cons Candidate's evaluation module has some silly issues that make candidates not being able to complete some questions for these reasons, even if they have the knowledge. It's not a big problem because are rare occasions where the candidate couldn't solve the issues, but a better tool will make the experience more satisfactory. It's intuitive and easy to build the tests and there are a lot of questions to choose from. It's also reliable. It's the first platform that I haven't heard from engineers that they couldn't get their code to run or were having trouble submitting it which allows for a good candidate experience. Pros TestDome has been an extremely value asset to the engineering teams I lead. I was introduced to it by a colleague years ago and have brought it into 3 more companies. The value it adds and the time it saves in the recruiting process is invaluable. As an engineering leader, I've used other products in the past and find that TestDome is the most reliable and gives the best candidate experience. Plus, it has a diverse list of questions allowing you to pull together a test that is unique and doesn't have to take 2 hours to complete. Cons I wish you could get to the cheaper price point without having to buy that large number of tests. It can be hard initially to get buy-in from an organization and getting running with a nice amount of tests would help solidify TestDome's spot in the company. Over time, I end up needing to clone my existing tests to send them to new candidates, which results in a cluttered dashboard with many duplicated tests. Cons There seems to be limited reporting tools, no way of knowing the ratios of pass rates or ratio of tasks completed by the number of invites we've sent out. Very easy to send the test to new job candidates and review their scores. Automated webcam photo "proctoring" service is fantastic as proof that the test takers aren't being helped by others. Easy to add more tests to my account and customize tests for individual job candidates. Automated scoring is helpful in reviewing each new candidate's submissions quickly. Cons Some of the advanced Excel-based questions are difficult for any software to automatically score b/c there's usually many more than just one way to achieve the desired result in Excel...so the scoring tool for these questions feels like a blunt instrument. Still, it's easy enough for me to manually review the answer submitted and subjectively compare it to the expected answer key and then adjust the score myself whenever necessary. The roles require various technical skills, which can be hard to assess during interviews. The roles I'm hiring for don't fit into one category so being able to search and select questions across skills is very important. The summary of results and views of candidates is very easy to use and helpful. Also, being able to purchase a set number of tests instead of a subscription model is budget-friendly and aligns with our pace and frequency of hiring. Cons The only con, which is very minor, is the quantity of pre-made questions available for soft skills and more basic/entry level Excel questions.
