### "The best Guitar Tab Tool out there"

August 7, 2018

5.0

Guitar Pro is one of the best notation tool out there. It is easy to handle and fun to play with. There are some problematic elements but it doesn't affect user experience in a critical way aside from some minor disgruntlements.

Pros

Most of the notation tools makes notation look and feel very complicated and eerily impenetrable. But Guitar Pro makes it seem easy and completely approachable - which is very important for those making their first steps in music composition. Guitar Pro is probably one of the most accessible notation tabbing tools out there. It is extremely easy to master and very comfortable to use as a lean mean composition tool. It is especially useful if you have limited music education and just want to lay down your ideas. From the user experience perspective - it doesn't get any better. If you know the notation basics - it will take a couple of minutes to get around Guitar Pro's interface. The way the composition process is organised is very streamlined and allows many tweaks without getting tangled. Ever since the 5th version introduced realistically sounding instrument samples, Guitar Pro also became a very interesting tool for sonic experimentation. Sure, it is very limited in comparison with a full-fledged digital workstations - but it offers an interesting experience, especially from a 6th versions which introduced sound effects.

Cons

User interface might seem dense at first and it takes some time to get used to it. From a compositional standpoint - every instrument that is not fretted string one - is limited to the guitar-based tuning. Basically it limits the composition process to laying down the basics while fleshing out will require more specific software. The notation layout itself is somewhat clumsy and got some very irritating traits. Hot keys are messy and you often get confused over which combination does what. It is not critical but might bring you some discomfort. Version 6 and 7 often crash, especially if you try too hard with the RSE.

### "Guitar Pro The Melody to Your music career"

October 20, 2023

5.0

It is a great software to learn the basics to the advanced functions of guitar and make music like never before , i'll personally suggest every beginners who is eager to create something with guitar must go with this software.

Pros

There are plenty of things i could write about guitar pro as far as i have experienced , some impactful features are :-1.Easy syncing of music 2. Adding of instruments is too easy3. Bsic import export features are too easy to use being a user friendly guitar tool it is the best way to create your best work into reality . By using guitar pro 8 , i literally seen a sudden change in my music quality anfd confidence over the chords.

Cons

One thing i don't like about guitar pro is it's lag while importing multiple audio file in one go , it creates a distorted frequency notes which is annoying.

### "Great piece of software, albeit a bit clunky"

October 31, 2019

3.0

I've always chose Guitar Pro for my guitar tablature needs.

Pros

Built-in MIDI Fast, lightweight. Guitar Pro makes notation a breeze. Musical notation will always seem like a daunting tast, but GP makes it simple. The interface is pretty intuitive when it comes to this specifically.

Cons

I don't remember what version number it was, but I'm not the biggest fan of the overall user interface. While the main portion of the program (musical notation) is straightforward, the rest of the program became very convoluted.

### "Super Useful"

February 5, 2025

5.0

It has been a very good experience using Guitar Pro. I have been using it since Guitar Pro 3 came out and I am still using Guitar Pro and can easily say that there is no any other software like Guitar Pro for making and editing music.

Pros

It is super useful to create music as well as learn music. You can get tons of gp files in the internet to import and learn the music. You can also convert the midi files to mp3 which I use to import music in my playlist. It is also very useful to make your own music from scratch.

Cons

Sometimes guitar pro gets stuck and closes unexpectedly.

### "It was one of the first music software I used when I started playing guitar and is still amazing!"

July 26, 2018

5.0

If you need to communicate an idea with other fellows musician who is not trained in music reading, its a powerful tool, since it has this tab only option, so the musician you are sending the music does not have to focus on anything else than the rhythm and fret positions of the notes you are suggesting. If you happen to be a music teacher, this program is EXCELLENT for helping your students to train their tempo, help them play with an accompaniment and get used to the metronome and a regular tempo

Pros

Using the tab/instrument view is really useful to notate the tones of your guitar into a tab/sheet music, and the compatibility with many other strings instruments(Ukulele, Bass, banjo) make it easier to transport your ideas to other players, even if they are really far from you. The printing options are awesome too, if you can't afford a printer, you just export your tab/sheet score into pdf format and then can send it to any place so they can print your parts or chord charts. Also, the playback/loop option is EXTREMELY helpful whenever you encounter a hard to learn, it allows you to go from really slow to the exact tempo you are looking for, so, for practicing your instrument is a really awesome tool.

Cons

There are a few things that can be improved, for example, if you happen to be a producer or an orchestra/band composer, guitar pro will limit you the way you write your music, it does not have a natural flow when it comes to transport instruments(say, many of the brass and woodwind family) so, it might get confusing whenever you have to write something for a trumpet or alto sax player. Also, the playback or RSE (real sound engine, which is basically an emulation of a live instrument) is not that good enough, compared to other software that is around nowadays, most of the time I prefer to use the midi default playback, because it can get too noisy and unproportioned.

### "This software was my first experience with written music and 12 years later, it's still my favorite!"

July 9, 2018

5.0

Helped my church to save a lot of money. Great customer service that provided the best solution for our needs. In my personal use, there's A LOT of music written in guitar pro files on the internet that you can get for free, probably written from the original music books that now are almost impossible to be found (and complex stuff, like Dream Theater, just to give an example). They have also launched a service where you can buy popular songs and learn how to play them.

Pros

About the software functionality: It was and has become even more user friendly to write, edit and play music scores. Not only that: it includes a Chords library that you can use in every single instrument (mainly focused on guitar, adding at the beginning of the score all the chords used). You can make it as simple as you want: tablature, chart or pentagram...or why not, all of them! It includes a great library of RSE instruments that will help you imagine what your music sounds like. Export your score as midi and use it on your recording software on VST instruments. And it's absolutely affordable! About the customer service: Few years after I started using it at home I started to write music for my church which doesn't have a lot of money to spend on very specific software like this. However, we needed more than one license so we contacted them. Their interest truly was to help us and yeah, completely helped us to get exactly what we needed. Best people on Earth!

Cons

It might rarely crash but it has been improved a lot with the years and updates. Just keep saving all the time as you should with any software you use and you'll be fine. Also the RSE sounds for winds are not good, they're just to give an idea. The interpretation of dynamics is weird mostly when changes are extreme but again, it's not designed to sound like a VST.

### "Great Way to Simulate Your Music"

April 8, 2020

5.0

I have used this software since 2009 and I have been happy with the improvements and the commitment they have made to creating a sound engine that sounds authentic.

Pros

I am able to create scores of music using either tab format or standard music format and then I am able to simulate the sounds of the band or orchestra through the software. There is no limit to the amount of tracks one can use, whether it is guitar, violin, drums, and even a didgeridoo. You can save your different scores and files within a cloud that is accessible on a phone app to take your music on the go. The Sound Engine has been improving over the years and I believe is almost at its peak.

Cons

I wish there was a way to change effects on a single track like a phaser or delay at a certain point in the songs instead of having to create a separate guitar track with that effect attached to it, it kind of makes the process somewhat tedious. It is very minor in the grand scheme of things, but still.

### "Guitar pro tab king"

October 10, 2022

5.0

I love this tool and i used it since more than 10 years and im still using it.

Pros

What i really like about Guitar pro is the simplicity of using it the design of the interface and what is really amazing if you are for example a musician and you don't have any idea about notes etc you can literally use your ear to write your tabs cause any number in your keyboard can turn into note that you can hear at the same time you write it then you can export that to share it with your band or export the midi file and drag it to your daw change instruments ..etc really awesome.

Cons

What i like the least about it it s the sound of instruments in it that can maybe be a motivation for the dev team is that why not sampling real sound of instruments in the app ? that would be really amazing.

### "A must have for all guitarists"

November 4, 2022

5.0

5 star experience. I got guitar pro way back in 2006 the day after getting my first electric guitar. It's come a long way since then but is still something I use daily and is probably the most consistent piece of software I've ever used.

Pros

As a learner, Guitar Pro is the #1 practice tool any player could have and has countless helpful features. As a teacher, I have used guitar pro to create individual lessons and musical examples for all of my books - it's invaluable!

Cons

the only thing that is missing is the ability to set up pages with text boxes or to have an inbuilt word processor similar to Sibelius.

### "A software that you can not live without"

July 2, 2022

5.0

Overall, we have been an Academic Partner of Guitar pro for more than 3 years now and we are delighted to find such a software package that we use regularly in our teaching process.

Pros

The amount of music notations and tabs written in Guitar Pro format is unmatched. The possibility to play along and even include one or more instrument as backing tracks is a very useful tool.

Cons

Conversion between MIDI and GP formats is not possible. The distinction between sharps and flats when transposing is not nicely done.

### "A Musician's Best Friend"

May 31, 2022

5.0

It's really great using this app and I'm still using it now as I'm happy with it. I guess I'll just have to learn one day and seriously get down to musical notations to be able to maximize my usage of this one. Everything is a checkbox for passing the guitarist's must have app.

Pros

First of all, I'm a self taught musician, and although there's tons of tutorial material online, I just really hadn't delved seriously into musical notations. That's why I like this app's capability to switch from standard sheet music format to guitar tablature mode. Honestly I can read sheet music but it just slows me down. I like the way this app allows you to set up different strumming patterns, plucking, let ring, staccato and even let ring features which is very useful as opposed to preset loading of guitar pattern loops. I wasn't expecting the ukulele feature and it satisfied very well my curiousity. As a guitarist, I just love that it can drill it down to slides, trills, tremolos, and the popular Eddie Van Halen tapping. So I'm a happy camper in using this app. I'm also happy that it can do palm mutings since I'm also a metal music enthusiast.

Cons

I occasionally encountered a few lags when stacking multiple tracks. And I observed that it happens when it's around 7 or more. I can't pin it down if it's the app causing it because I upgraded my computer's RAM after a few weeks from installation and I didn't have issues since. So probably it just my PC not able to process as fast as it should be. Other than that, the app is working smoothly.

Reason for choosing Guitar Pro

I chose this software because it has all the necessary functionalities a guitar must have. Actually, I was considering RealStrat when choosing this because the latter has other effects and patches intended for a guitarist in the Rock and Metal genre.

### "Years on, Guitar Pro still provides the best experience."

September 22, 2020

4.0

After the small learning curve, focusing on learning the UI and locations of all the menus and options, this software has become a versatile tool in my arsenal. Translating pure ideas into things far greater and for deconstructing music to learn, adapt and overall bolster my skillset.

Pros

The sheer flexibility of the software is perhaps its greatest strength. I first started using Guitar Pro to learn music - how to play certain songs or sections of songs - but that very quickly evolved into something much more. It was my gateway into musical composition; from electronic music, to metal and even orchestral pieces. The variety of instrumentation available is amazing and being able to compose music for instruments without having to know music theory - just using the simple and very easy to learn guitar tablature. It's a good introduction to MIDI as a whole and having the option to write something on your guitar, translate it into tablature and export as a MIDI file to use with other software or virtual instruments destroys a huge barrier of entry to general music production and to composition. The greatest thing about Guitar Pro is what it enables users - from all skill levels - to become.

Cons

The UI can at times be very easy to get lost in and often finding the right option or tool can take a while longer than perhaps is ideal. I feel the program as a whole already acts as a great introduction to music production, but I feel like blending more DAW inspired features would be a good move to bring the software into the toolbelt of producers as opposed to just those learning guitar or bass.

### "I've improved so much using Guitar Pro, being able to see the notes, and earn licks is so valuable!"

March 15, 2018

5.0

Take your time and learn Guitar Pro, it's totally worth it! Tempo control, instrument and backing track control, and an enormous library of prescored music. I've been able to improve in ways I thought I couldn't because of this software.

Pros

I switched from using Sibelius to Guitar Pro's software and am very happy I did. One of the best parts about Guitar Pro is the library of thousands of prescored songs. I can find almost any popular song that's out there. This is so much better than googling tabs and chords, and my playing has improved a lot because of this. Not only that, but the ability to pick the tracks I want to learn, by soloing specific instruments, makes the usually difficult "learning by ear" method so much simpler. Guitar Pro has also helped me increase my piano proficiency with its instrument soloing feature. Best feature of all is the tempo change which allows me to take things at my own pace.

Cons

The biggest area for improvement for this software is that Guitar Pro 7 took a step back when trying to change the individual tuning of strings on the guitar. There are too many intermediary steps, previously in Guitar pro 6 it was as simple as clicking the guitar icon and choosing up or down on each string. The interface and the method to get there takes too many steps. Hopefully they can add the old option for people.

### "Best Software Out There For Making Music"

July 28, 2023

5.0

I have been a user since Guitar Pro 4 and the now using Guitar Pro 8, the software has come a long way and hope another version will have even more features. We have published some tablatures using Guitar pro 4 which are still being accessed by people in the internet so It has been a great experience using Guitar Pro.

Pros

The ability to make tablatures with such an ease is the most useful. We also have been benefited by Guitar Pro to make awesome music for practice and making a midi music sound almost real by using multiple instruments is just too good. I personally learnt many songs to play in guitar by the help of Guitar Pro.

Cons

There is absolutely no issues with the features of Guitar Pro. I only hope for a discounted pricing on Guitar Pro 9.

### "Guitar Pro 7: The Future of Music Composition"

October 8, 2019

5.0

Guitar pro makes composing music a dream. You can literally lay out every single note and harmony, adjust amp models/tones to get the sound you want, and have everything written PERFECTLY prior to recording.

Pros

The best part to me about guitar pro 7 is the refreshed User Interface from previous versions. As someone who has been around since Guitar Pro 4, this software's ease of use as well as functionality have improved tremendously over the years. You could teach anyone any instrument with this tool, and that's a beautiful thing.

Cons

I don't have much negative to say about this software. The only real issue I've had is that it glitches up when I have more than 8 or so different tracks, or have other applications running in the background. Honestly, that's more than likely a computer issue and not an issue with the software.

Reason for choosing Guitar Pro

Better functionality, easier to look at, better Real Sound Engine.

### "Do you play for relaxation or professionally? GP helps you either way."

June 20, 2021

5.0

I have been using GP since the 4th. Since I started playing guitar at the age of 13 I found this wonderful thing on the internet. This app was always with me helping me to improve as a musician. I've never had many professional experiences, except for some gigs with friends and I've had some bands and strictly all songs were composed in GP. At that time I already had GP5. Because I've been using it for a long I had some troubles about GP6 layout, but I got used to it. After some years stopped using it, I got back because now I'm playing bass. I never took classes or studied scales, I just download the songs from my GP or try to play them by ear and compose something. I don't see myself studying music with another app, it would be blasphemous.

Pros

After I learned to read tablatures, my musical life changed. The composition tools have also helped me a lot with my creative process. The transition from midi to RSE was fantastic. I wish I had more time to explore everything GP offers, but composing and playing some Iron Maiden stuff in my spare time is therapy for me.

Cons

I had a little trouble understanding all the innovations from GP5 to GP6. They gave more options of sounds and timbre in the instruments, made everything a little closer to the real thing, but also made it more complicated too. It was a very abrupt change.

### "The best app for learning how to play guitar"

September 23, 2019

5.0

Guitar Pro was the application that not only helped me to learn how to play guitar but also provided me with an easy way to compose on my own.

Pros

The best part of the application is that instead of using complicated connotations for music notes Guitar Pro provides an easy notation for those with limited music education. Another advantage of the application is that the music tabs are easily converted into other string instruments such as Ukelele, Bass, Banjo and etc. Guitar Pro also has a large library of popular songs, which makes the process of finding chords and tabs for your desired music much easier.

Cons

The user interface might be slightly complicated for beginners. But it takes maximum of an hour to get used to the layout.

Overall if you need an app to help you learn guitar or as I like to use it to write music, this is the app for you. All to often my guitar is left behind in my practice area when inspiration hits, this app has been a life saver.

Pros

The best part of this app is it's ease of use. You got enough things to worry about as musician without a difficult program making it worse.

Cons

I wouldn't use this for other instruments their drum feature for instance is a joke. But they are constantly ironing out issues so don't cast it completely away just yet.

### "GuitarPro is a Software that allows you to edit tablatures, transcribe them and even download them."

March 25, 2018

5.0

This software is for guitarists, bass players and musicians in general, who love to capture their creations, it's great.

Pros

GuitarPro is a software that allows you to edit tablatures, transcribe them and even download them, directed for guitars and basses, however, it supports and reproduces other instruments that are always in MIDI format, which makes Guitar Pro a great tool for your musical creations , but it is also excellent as a learning tool for those music lovers who want to have a better performance when playing guitar or bass.

Cons

In spite of being a very easy tool to use, for those who are totally inexperienced in the execution of the guitar or bass or for the reading of tablatures, this software can become a bit complicated.
