We started with 1 entity only when we have two that work together. As a result, our reconciling was a mess because all charges were being paid only by one entity. I feel our integration should have been better reviewed for and have had more foresight into the set up. Otherwise, I am quite happy.

Pros

Spend & Expense allows me to manage all credit cards for the entire agency from one portal. We consolidated from credit accounts with dozens of vendors. Making this change has made reconciling, making adjustments all if it much easier.

Cons

On occasion I find a feature that I need is not available. I also find it challenging at times to map and integrate custom fields or make changes to existing fields.

### "Divvy is great "

BILL as a whole is hostile architecture as an accounting/business "solution." It's such a shame because Divvy is actually a great product!

Pros

BILL Spend & Expense, formerly Divvy, has a fantastic interface on both mobile and online app. If you have not had a receipt management/credit card management service for your team, this really DOES improve your life. The best part is that you can empower credit card users to handle their own receipts and transactions. Uploading and managing receipts is easy; issuing cards and creating "virtual cards" are all wonderful. This is my first spend management software experience, and whether Divvy is advanced or standard, it really has improved the workflow for expense and receipt management. Wahoo!

Cons

Oh boy. Stay away, stay far far away if you plan to use this with BILL's AR/AP side (Payables and Receivables). You will not have a dedicated account rep, which should be standard for corporate and industry clients. Someone on your team will be spending a lot of time navigating why something isn't working, only for a tier 2 rep or a manager to tell you to restart your computer and clear your cache. This was the suggested solution for-- you will not believe this -- our account was set up incorrectly and we were paying double in subscription fees. There was no way for us as an end user to seethis, and none of the support people were able to see this because -- the BILL Spend & Expense side cannot see the BILL Payables & Receivables side. I'm so baffled that this has been our experience, and really caution anyone considering choosing BILL.

### "Fraud - Bad Actor In The Accounting Space"

They forced me into a subscription service that I did not want or need. I feel like they are a bad actor in a surprising way in this industry because they do not work with other accounting or bookeeping SaaS so it makes it impossible not to add them to my subscriptions and as a freelancer I do not have the ability to tolerate subscriptions that provide 0 value. They are charging me money for doing nothing other than holding my money hostage every month.

Pros

I was forced into purchasing a subscription because two of my clients use Bill for their payment methods. It's pretty malicious that I am essentially required to pay for this SaaS when I have my own expensing, spending, invoicing SaaS but because they are using this serving and it won't integrate with other SaaS I am essentially forced into it. They are guaranteed to get my subscription which means for every one user they capture, they spread like a virus. It's very malicious.

Cons

Nothing, they are essentially a middle man between my clients and my money and they are just an additional monthly fee that I am forced to pay with no added value. I was essentially forced into purchasing this subscription or I would not be able to get paid. This is fraud but I can't take them to court because it would cost too much money so I am hoping this review can help spread awareness about how they are maliciously defrauding people like me.

My accountant set me up with this. If they worked together then none of this would be an issue. Payment services need to be able to communicate with each other on releasing funds so this is no longer an issue because there are so many payment processors this is super antiquated.

overall i was very disappointed in the fact that I lost more money than the program was worth. Ithen had to try and get some it back from my customer.

Pros

well at first it was easy to use . It did invoices, allowed us to get paid, but then it started charging for trans actions and we lost a lot of money on one large deal.

Cons

Contacting the customer service team was a pretty horrible experience no results. everything is out sourced which is even worse.

### "AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - My business might die because of this"

Spend and Expense is an absolute nightmare. I wish I never touched it. Between its terrible functionality to suddenly send cards to vendors instead of ACH payments (even after selecting this) and the slow and unhelpful customer support - it is single handedly ruining my business. I injected cash into my business, and then was using Bill to pay myself back. I selected ACH transfer from my bank - for 2 very big transactions. It draws the cash from my bank account like an ACH transaction (so I assumed it was going to work, but like Bill always does, I had to wait multiple days). Then my payment “comes in” as a credit card that I didn’t select both times! Oh, and my account was frozen because I didn’t know our first date to pay, and had a $38 balance. I paid that promptly and have been waiting for over a week and a half for it to be unfrozen. So I now have “prepaid” from my business account almost $20,000 toward cards I CAN’T EVEN USE. Meanwhile my bank account is out the money, and I personally am out $20,000. After multiple attempts to address it with Bill’s help center, which seems like they are talking to 10 different people - so communication is extremely slow…I have no resolution. They say they will “escalate it” or resolve it. I get an email saying they hope it’s been taken care of, but no solutions.  If my company goes under because my cash management solution is what blocked up all my cash, I am going to sue them. I cannot warn people enough to stay away from Spend and Expense. It is slow, clunky, bad customer service, unclear how things work before you sign up, and can ruin you.

Pros

It can allow you to have a "line of credit" for the month to ease cash management.

Cons

SO MANY THINGS. My company is in serious trouble because of how it defaults our payments. Here is a list of things: 1. You cannot cary a balance - which is not clear when signing up 2. Your payment date isn't clear when starting - which can freeze your account. 3. Once your account is frozen (ours was $38, because we didn't know 1 or 2) it takes FOREVER to unfreeze. I paid it I think the day after it was frozen. I reached out to customer service - it has still been a week and a half. 4. You can still (purposely or accidentally) make payments from it regardless if it's frozen or not. 5. Even though you select to pay people from your bank account (ACH) It will still send a credit card - which in most cases is not how people want to get paid. 6. If 5 happens to you (where you select to pay via ACH from your bank instead of a virtual card) your bank account will STILL pay for it like a prepayment to your LOC (stupid). 7. If your account is frozen - you can't even use those funds anyway. 8. If you reach out to customer support - you will chat with someone who is extremely unresponsive and feels like they are talking to 10 other people. They won't resolve your issue. They will end it saying they will follow up with an email. All my emails I have received (days later) were just asking if the problem magically cleared up and reassuring me they care about my problem. So in summary - by unclear information and a weird type of LOC - for $38 you can quickly have $20K removed from your bank account to prepay a LOC that the vendor doesn't want and cannot use. For cash management, this seems like the fastest way to destroy your business.

Bill has been great for management in our company with budgeting and tracking. We use it with QBO, DEXT and Divvy.

Pros

Bill is a secure website for me to keep track of all my spending and expenses by employees and other staff. This helps with budgeting

Cons

It has a learning curve but is not that hard to understand. I do not like that we cannot sync photos from Bill to QBO.

It has been great. I believe this is a significant upgrade from other expense apps that I have used in other roles. It is easy to see how much budget there is on your company card, and I really appreciate how quickly they populate.

Pros

I love how quickly expenses populate in the app/online. I have used other expense platforms that take several days to populate, which leads to missed expenses and reports. This software is quick and intuitive!

Cons

It would be very helpful if there were a favorites section for the type of expense that is incurred. It can be slightly annoying having to search each time for the new expense rather than from a list.

As a teacher, I use BILL Spend & Expense to help manage and track expenses during state testing travel. It allows me to easily record things like mileage and meal costs while I’m on the go, without having to keep up with paper receipts or wait until the end of the trip. Everything is entered and organized in real time, which makes the reimbursement process much smoother and more accurate.

### "Terrible protection, abysmal service, avoid at all costs. "

Our overall experience with Bill was defined by one event which was handled so poorly and illegally that we feel like every potential customer should know. An employee’s locked car was broken into, and their credit cards were stolen. The thief took them and spent $1000 on the employee’s personal credit card before it was frozen but spent $36,000 on the company card without it ever being frozen. It was not until we called Bill that they even had any idea there was suspicious activity on the account despite the thief making repeat purchases at the apple store, expensive clothing stores, etc. that our company has zero history making purchases at. When the fraud claim was filed it was erroneously noted that the stolen card was still in the possession of the employee. While we attempted to correct this, Bill rejected the fraud claim and refused to appeal their decision. After months and months of talking with what must be everybody at the entire company, it is clear Bill has no intention of standing by their fraud policy and is looking for any trivial clerical error to reject the claim. Meanwhile, the employee’s tiny credit union, that apparently has a much better fraud protection algorithm than a $10B tech startup, refunded them the $1000 thirty minutes after they called to tell him he had suspicious activity on his account. This experience has been extremely damaging to our small business, but it would cost of more than the value of the loss to bring a lawsuit. Please avoid Bill as a service.

Pros

Bill's software is fine. It can be confusing when switching between all the sites, but overall it does what you would expect. One exception: their fraud protection algorithm is worse than your average credit union’s. So you should only use Bill if you are sure you will never lose a credit card, never have one stolen, or never use your cards. ;)

Cons

Bill's customer service is simply an abomination. They are impossible to contact, rude when you finally do, and literally illegal when they act. On top of this, the software is just not actually that great. We often hit hiccups with budgets not refilling, cards not working, frozen cards that cannot be unfrozen, and so on and so on. Their fraud protection is also abysmal. Your cards will basically never be shut off even if they are maxed out on repeat purchases at the apple store. Whereas any other card service would put a hold on the card and reach out to you for verification, Bill just lets it ride. Given that a typical company might have many cards in many places at once, this is particularly problematic. Overall, please avoid their services.

What I like most about bill formerly divvie, would be how easy it is to upload photos of receipts from day to.Day expenses you keep track of expenses with a budget. I am able to get through the month knowing what i've spent and not going over budget

Sometimes I have a hard time with logging in with the app. The software could use an update. I'm not always able to log in.So I have to use the website through google

Pros

That I can upload and invoice and track if I get reimbursed for teaching expenses. I like that I can also do it from my phone or computer.

Cons

I don't like that I have to enter the tax for items. Would be nice if you could enter your city and state and it would automatically calculate sales tax on items.

With BIll spend and expense, it makes it very easy for us to keep track of employee expenses but everything about the platform is all amazing. We have cards for everyone but also virtual card feature is great. To be able to upload the receipt from the app and to also approve/disapprove charges is great. We are truly grateful.

The thing we loved the most is how easy and amazing the platform in general is. We also absolutely love the mobile receipt feature. We hated keeping track of receipts.

WAAAAYYYY easier to track spending. Receipts are all in one place. Staff is able to take more ownership and complete reimbursement requests and expense tracking on the go through the app. Wonderful that it syncs with their bank accounts so disbursing reimbursements is a breeze.

Pros

Divvy was easy to set up and is easy for our whole staff to use. Our previous expense management was done more manually, was time consuming, harder for staff to use, and an all around pain. Divvy alleviated all those problems!

Cons

The only thing I dislike is not being able to sync reimbursements in QB online the same way credit card expenses can be synced. It's definitely not a deal breaker, but more time consuming for sure to have to download the reimbursements, format the csv and upload in QB, vs just hitting "sync" like you can do with the credit card expenses.

Overall, Divvy has enabled my company to gain WAY better insight into where dollars are going. We now know where we are over-budgeting and under-budgeting each month. Divvy makes tracking business expenses fun — I never thought I'd say that!

Pros

I first learned about Divvy via the daily business newsletter, Morning Brew. I was in disbelief that the product was totally free, so I scheduled a demo call. As it turns out, Divvy really is TOTALLY free. The app is incredibly user friendly and switching/updating budgets is surprisingly easy. But while the app interface is nice, the push notifications are wonderfully helpful, and Divvy travel has us saying bye-bye to Expedia, the REAL value our agency has found in using Divvy is the virtual card feature. As the Director of Marketing Strategy at a small Marketing Technology Agency, I manage a team of people who run a plethora of digital ads campaigns for numerous clients in any given month. Divvy's virtual card feature allows us to manage media buys on behalf of our clients without needing to open 100+ credit cards (or require the client to use their card). So, we're able to manage our clients' monthly spend and charge them a small admin fee (for putting the spend on our cards) without incurring ANY credit card fees.

Cons

Honestly, there are really only two things I dislike about Divvy: 1. That there isn't a Divvy for PERSONAL spending (I've been Googling looking for something like this for the past few weeks now...nothing seems to exist!) 2. The saving a receipt feature/adding notes feature is a little spotty at times. I find that I often need to go back into a purchase and re-upload the photo of the receipt/re-type my note. Hopefully this is a bug that gets worked out with the next app update.

super fast close process, easy for employees to use.

Pros

ease of use, ability to assign funds fast and instantly (on the road even on my app). 100% card integration

Cons

approval workflows aren't greatno ability to send push notifications for "needs approval" why on earth is that not fixed?automated push notification on phone should be every 48 - 72 hours. (concur does this).once a week emails are spotty (dont actually send) and most of my managers have no idea they have something to approve. 1st round with production implementation specialist was lazy, non-responsive, "Goal of 24 hour response time" was a pathetic goal and was more like 2-3-4 days. by that time the context of the email was misunderstood and issues had to be repeated, repeated, repeated, new customer manager seems a lot better and Salesman Michael Gleason was always great.

Reimbursements - I wanted my system to handle the out-of-pocket reimbursements as well as transactions. Ramp was the only other company with this feature and they have the absolute dumbest underwriting policies and wanted copies of my 27 different bank statements uploaded monthly, Um, No.

### "Expense and Reimbursement Management for next to nothing"

Overall, implementing Divvy has ben a huge win for my organization. It's streamlined our expense reporting process, keeps all expense records within a single system and costs us nothing. We've used other paid platforms in the past, and Divvy's solution is far superior.

Pros

We rolled out Divvy in June of 2022. Every employee has a Divvy account for reimbursements; about 20% of our employees also have corporate credit cards. This is what works:- Easy to set up custom fields to correspond to our accounting system for expense coding and tracking- Budgets set up by functional team so managers are approving their direct reports transactions- Easy to adjust teams/budgets on the fly- App always works and employees can code charges and upload receipts seconds after a charge is made- Easy to administer; add employees, cancel cards or charges, delete employees, adjust budgets, add accounts. The system is simple to navigate and intuitive.

Cons

Some drawbacks to Divvy - - No notification alerting you that a budget is getting close to its monthly spend limit- Employees need lots of education on how budgets work; they need to request funds BEFORE spending- Reimbursement tab needs to be more obvious. Managers don't check and can have employee requests languishing there for weeks- Reimbursements don't hit employee accounts for days after the funds have already been withdrawn from the company account

Expensify was expensive, not user friendly and had frequent issues with syncing correctly. Charges would take days or weeks to appear. Employee receipts would disappear. There was no way to easily track or make out of pocket reimbursements.

### "Divvy changed the way we do business!"

Pros

Divvy gave us the ability to allow employees to pay for expenses with company funds as opposed to having to use their own funds and wait to be reimbursed. Divvy gives us the ability to manage requests "on the go". Divvy integrates with Quickbooks which is super helpful. Divvy rewards program fits our organization much better than previous rewards programs. It allows for multiple options and depending on what we have going on at the time, we utilize the various options given. Sometimes we take a statement credit, other times we use it for unexpected travel and yet sometimes, we find it most advantageous to receive a check that we can use for things like purchasing equipment that is needed we didn't budget for in a particular fiscal year.

Cons

It still has some quirks that need worked out. From what we understand, it is a fairly new software. When syncing with Quickbooks, it doesn't always seem to work correctly. We have had instances where receipts disappeared that were uploaded to the mobile app. It isn't quite as intuitive as other software in our opinion. The user interface could be improved. When you go back in to update a transaction after it has been synced, you have to remember to resync it. The problem with this is that there is nothing that prompts you to do so. Overall though, we would still recommend this software.

### "Divvy is the best expense software by far!"

Overall with Divvy, we’ve been able to increase visibility in spending, empower our employees to make purchases and allow our budget managers control over what is being spent from their budget. It has been a win-win-win for us. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Pros

I love that Divvy is not only free, but that it also allows you to manage expenses companywide we have about seven spenders in our small business and using Divvy allows us to assign budgets issue funds to particular employees and allow them to make purchases as needed. it also streamline to the bookkeeping process because all of the transactions are already categorized and require receipt upload it is absolutely fantastic.

Cons

It’s hard to think of anything I don’t like about the software because I love it so much the only negative I can think of is that setting it up to integrate well with your books can’t take a bit of time however, their team walks you through the entire process from beginning to end, which makes the process a lot easier.

Reason for choosing BILL Spend & Expense

Divvy was completely free and offered all the features that we needed to get started. The other alternatives either offered clunky integrations or some sort of upfront financial requirements. In order to get started. divvy was super easy to get approved and set up

### "Divvy - Allows us to Manage our Expenses with effectiveness"

Pros

1) Dashboard for all transactions - allows us to work on what needs completed and then publish to QBO. 2) Automatic notifications - allows us to request receipts and categorization from cardholders in seconds. 3) Virtual cards - allows us to automate transaction entry, manage overspend with our vendors, and minimize and mitigate fraud with our expenses. If a card gets compromised we turn off that one virtual card and then create a new one within seconds.

Cons

There aren't many features built yet for Accounting Firms to manage their list of clients. There isn't good features like Ramp & Brex to text the categorization details, notes, and receipts on the transactions.
