### "Simple and fast diagram tool with minor layout issues"

May 14, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience with draw.io has been really good. It’s my go‑to tool for quick diagrams at work because it’s simple, free and doesn’t get in the way. I use it for flowcharts, process mapping and even small technical diagrams. It saves me time and I don’t need heavy design tools for basic stuff. There are small annoyances like lag or cluttered menus, but nothing that stops me from using it daily. For everyday diagramming, it’s reliable and easy to learn.

Pros

draw.io is how easy it is to make flowcharts and process maps without needing any fancy software. I use it at work for quick diagrams, network layouts and simple workflows, and it’s super fast to drag things around. The templates help a lot when I don’t want to start from scratch. I also like that it works right in the browser and saves to Drive, so I don’t have to install anything. The shapes library is huge and covers almost everything I need.

Cons

Sometimes the interface feels a bit crowded, especially when I open too many panels. A few features are hidden in menus and take time to find. When diagrams get big, it can lag a little or feel slow to move things around. Collaboration works but not as smooth as some other tools. Also exporting to certain formats sometimes messes up spacing and I have to fix it manually. Not major issues but small things that slow me down.

### "Diagramming Tool for Network Projects"

April 10, 2025

4.0

It's a powerful and flexible tool for creating network diagrams, technical visuals. I appreciate that it's free to use, integrates well with Google Drive, and offers a wide variety of stencils for network architecture, cloud environments, and system designs.

Pros

Open Source Software, Rich Template and Shape Library , Offline access

Cons

Auto-layout and snapping features can be finicky, especially with complex diagrams.

Switched from

[Visio](https://www.capterra.com/p/201133/Visio/)

I made the switch from Visio to draw.io primarily because of its cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and flexibility. Visio is a powerful tool, but for most of my network diagrams, infrastructure layouts, and process flows, draw.io gets the job done without the licensing headaches.

### "Basic Diagramming Tool, But Lacks Modern Appeal"

November 1, 2024

3.0

Overall, while draw.io provides useful templates for beginners, it doesn’t match the features or ease of newer platforms. Saving files before editing can feel tedious, and the interface isn’t as intuitive as other tools. This tool is functional, but I would recommend other options for a smoother experience.

Pros

Draw.io offers some solid templates for beginners, making it a decent choice for simple diagramming. It’s functional and straightforward for users new to diagram tools.

Cons

The website feels outdated and hard to navigate. Templates lack visual appeal, and the AI for creating diagrams doesn’t work as smoothly as expected. Additionally, having to save the file to your PC before starting can be inconvenient, especially if you decide to switch templates mid-way.

### "Diagramming that just works"

October 27, 2025

5.0

We use it extensively during project / task planning, whether that's making decisions on Azure infrastructure or traditional flowcharts.

Pros

It's fast to load, easy to work with, takes minutes to learn and provides excellent value for money for us. Plenty of shapes are provided via the template library, from room layouts to process mapping.

Cons

Nothing really - it does everything we need it to do and more! Hard to see a con in this tool to be honest.

### "Simple yet powerful "

August 23, 2025

Decently intuitive and simple app to use. It has all shapes you would need to create system designs and flow shafts pretty easily

Pros

Simple, effective and has all most of the basics narrowed down. It is able to handle the basics decently well

Cons

It is a little too simple for what it can do. There are other alternatives that are better with doing all the simple stuff like connections. Sometimes moving an item derails all arrows

### "Powerful, free, and very intuitive"

December 28, 2023

5.0

Draw.io is my diagramming tool of choice. It's free, and easy to use, and you are free to download your diagrams in a variety of free and open-source formats for use in other software. Nothing is locked behind proprietary formats, or predatory pricing. If you want the more enterprise features to collaborate with bigger teams, you're welcome to pay, but you can go a very long way on the free tier.

Pros

I love that draw.io can be used entirely for free, there are no diagram types nor crucial diagramming features that are locked behind a paywall. They have a wonderful free template library of starter diagrams and their tools are competitive with even most paid diagramming software. I absolutely love draw.io.

Cons

Bigger more complicated diagrams can become slow and janky to edit, but being a web-based tool a completely understandable constraint, and can usually be forgiven and/or worked around by splitting diagrams up into more digestible chunks.

### "No 1 open-source diagram maker - Need improvements on Linux and icons"

December 12, 2025

5.0

Pros

This software is open-source and compatible with all operating systems. The web version is also excellent, and the templates are impressive. It has a user-friendly interface that allows me to map the entire process flow quickly.

Cons

There are issues with Linux Lubuntu desktop apps where I can't reopen the Draw.io file based on its extension. I had to reopen it manually from the recent files. Sometimes, the icons appear outdated.

### "Best design tool be it online or offline"

September 12, 2025

5.0

I use it for 10+ years. In my field I didn't find a better alternative. It's reliable, easy to use, and supports a wide range of diagramming needs from simple flowcharts to complex architecture diagrams. The constant updates, cloud integration, and offline flexibility make it an indispensable tool in my daily work.

Pros

Excellent sketch and design product. Can be used in browser or deployed as an app. Has a lot of 3rd party design elements.

Cons

Export features could be better, and the interface can sometimes feel cluttered with too many options. Large diagrams may slow down performance, and integrations beyond Google Drive or OneDrive are somewhat limited.

### "Great for most diagramming needs"

May 5, 2025

4.0

draw.io is my default tool for creating diagrams for professional projects. While there aren't any super premium features, It's totally free and comes with loads of templates from all industries to simplify the process of creating great architecture diagrams.

Pros

#1, draw.io is free and open source, yet professional grade. You don't even need an account to use it, you are immediately dropped into a diagramming interface. You can choose to store your diagram locally or on any number of cloud storage providers. There are a vast number of templates from all companies and the export options are plentiful.

Cons

Being free and with no login, there is a lack of collaboration features. It's not as convenient as other diagramming tools, although you can share the cloud files. Occasionally the interface will lag, especially if you are dealing with large files. If you run into issues, you need to deal with community support which has no SLA.

Does everything I need, is easy to use, and it just works. I keep coming back to draw.io as the alternatives have not been able to convince me to switch.

Pros

So easy to use and versatile. Allows me to create all the diagrams I could ever need for our projects. I mostly create flowcharts and system diagrams.

Cons

Look and feel can be a bit basic, but it is functional and gets the job done. I use the online version, so sometimes it can be a bit slow, but still useable.

### "Diagramming is wonderful to do in Draw.io"

April 24, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with Draw.io has been wonderful. It is free and open-source and is quite powerful compared to its paid counterparts. I used to use LucidChart for my diagramming and it was not the most fun to use and did not have a local installation version. The price was also expensive for my needs. Draw.io has many of the similar features of LucidChart such as templates and connecting lines. It is also much more customizable in the user interface as well. It supports importing Microsoft Visio files too if you want to switch. The only thing that is annoying is the “Layers” panel cannot be docked to a sidebar which means you have to open it every time you open a file and resize it which becomes annoying. Draw.io also doesn’t have some of the features as other paid software but considering it is free, I am not too upset. I have enjoyed my experience with it overall.

Pros

oFree oOpen source oDark Mode oCan import Visio diagrams oMany templates to choose from oCustomizable oLocal & Online versions

Cons

### "diagrams.net is an efficient tool to make graphics"

April 22, 2023

5.0

Overall, the customization options in diagrams.net enable users to create diagrams that are visually appealing, easy to read, and tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

Pros

diagrams.net is ease of use, its flexibility, and its wide range of customization options. Also, it allows to create complex diagrams quickly and easily, and the ability to customize their appearance.

Cons

The user interface of diagrams.net can be overwhelming at first because it can be a bit counterintuitive in terms of user-friendliness, as there are many options within the same tab

### "A really good software product which can aid multiple departments, not just for technical support."

September 12, 2023

5.0

This allowed team collaboration quickly, simple and intuitive. I would recommend this to anyone technical that may have to draw charts, diagrams as well as for sales teams to enable quick process flow demonstrations, its a flexible software.

Pros

The immediate thing that was enjoyed within draw.io is the templates and selection of icons, later I found I could also search the icons with key words, once diagrams are created the arrows and connectors when properly aligned snap in place, say the user was drawing a diagram of a home network with a router connected to a PC, laptop and printer, once the connectors are snapped in place - if the user of the software drags the router to another place the connectors move with it.Now of course if you have linked with straight lines, and in once colour it can end up looking messy, draw.io allows you to change the colours, and edit all elements very easily, so the straight line can be curved. Adding small labels such as text was super quick. The software was really easy to use.It integrated easily into confluence, and the files could be saved and detached to send to other users in email. HR was able to use it to create org charts and whilst sales team was not seen using it to create new items they often requested diagrams and edited them for their own use.

Cons

What I found tricky to use in draw.io was the page sizing and scaling, it was tricky to see page margins, I also didn't find the control using a mouse easy when editing diagrams, this however is both minor and subjective as my peers made it look very easy, with the exception of page sizing and scaling there is not much to fault with this software.

### "Great diagraming app"

March 28, 2022

5.0

I use diagrams.net to create process flow charts, plan out data models, and other business-processes in a visual way. It’s been very flexible and allows me to create, collaborate, and share things quickly and easily.

Pros

Very easy to pick up and begin using right away. Provides the ability to start with a template they’ve created, create your own, or begin with a blank canvas. Allows for mind-mapping, project planning, flow diagramming, process flow definition, and beyond.

Cons

Some of the object styles make it hard to read text, could be more adaptive for text color when changing the fill color of things.

### "A creator of professional designs and ideal to save time."

August 8, 2022

4.0

Since I use this software together with my teammates, it is easier to carry out tasks and even transmit to our clients the progress of each project or the steps required for its development, this is because Draw.io also makes it possible to use Gantt charts and in this way we can visualize the tasks and our schedule from day to day and thus know how our progress is going, it is also useful for giving presentations because I can design flowcharts and I do not need to be tied to a office to be able to design them, this saves us time and effort.

Pros

When thinking about this software I find that there are several aspects that I like, one of the main ones is that it is possible to insert images of our liking, so that the diagrams or whatever is designed obtains a much more personalized and professional touch. With Draw.io it is possible to create unique designs, this is because it brings with it various forms, be they circles, tables and even images, everything is a matter of thinking about what you want to convey either to the work team or to our clients; if you are a little in If you are in a hurry or do not have a little idea of how to start using this tool, you can go to its templates and use them as provided by the software or make changes to them to further adjust the model to our needs and this whole process only requires of dragging and dropping the elements that you want to use, that is why I also like that it is an easy to use solution. In addition, the created designs can be saved and printed, for example if you want to share them with our team is able to use Google Drive and so everyone can have at hand the steps of the project to be developed.

Cons

Draw.io provides many benefits to our development team and is even ideal for any professional who wants to deal more simply with the processes of each project in which they participate or for personal use, however its interface is somewhat confusing or perhaps a little outdated so giving it a more modern touch would facilitate its use especially for those who do not know how to start using this tool, also being online can be an advantage but if you lack a good connection this can be a problem.

### "diagrams.net is the best diagram and flowchart creating tool "

August 31, 2021

5.0

we use to create the blueprint for the app and its working systems and send it to the developers. The process of work and tools are fantastic in diagram.net; it is suitable for both beginners and professionals, I would definitely recommend it if you are starting in diagraming and blue print design. we can share our designs to dropbox, google docs and google drive, so it is better when we create a design and share it with our development team.

Pros

The advantages of using diagrams.net - simple to use and easy to learn. we can create a Blueprint for any project. It Comes with lots of tools like basic and advanced shapes and lots of elements; we can also add Tiles tables and customize them properly. It provides various options to export our work like drive devices and others.it is good software for diagramming purposes. it is easy like drag and drop functionality. it is web based so no need to install this on your device and you can use it as portable.

Cons

When I started using diagrams.net, I was in university. Hence, at that time, I use to create blueprints for apps and systems; I found difficulty in 2 things, mainly first the exporting issue we have to be careful with the size and selection of export so that we can get better output or image. The second zoom in and zoom out is more complex in draw io; it could be better. But it gets the job done, so not a big issue while using it.

### "Draw.io Review"

August 4, 2023

4.0

Sometimes it's so hard to explain the plans, architectures or flows without visualizing it. At this moment, it's very vital to draw diagrams. Draw.io really helps me to understand and explain the workflow to other colleagues. I can say that my overall experience with draw.io is excellent.

Pros

In my professional career, I am working with multiple cloud providers all the time. I can find the icons of most of the resources of cloud providers like Azure, AWS etc. This really helps me to create great diagrams. Also another great feature, I can export my diagrams in PDF format so that I can share it with anyone.

Cons

Not a least liked feature but I'd be glad if draw.io adds the icons of the newly published resources of the cloud providers.

Diagrams.net proved to be a great tool for creating diagrams.

Pros

I found diagrams.net to be incredibly helpful for creating diagrams quickly and easily. It was user-friendly and intuitive, and had the capability of visualizing complex concepts and processes. With just a few clicks and drag-and-drop operations, I could create aesthetically pleasing diagrams. I was also able to collaborate with others by sharing the diagrams online and export them in various formats, such as PDF, SVG, PNG, and JPG. Furthermore, I could customize the diagrams to my liking.

We use Draw.io to build different UML diagrams like class diagram, user diagrams, schema diagrams and flowcharts etc to help us visualize the requirements of our projects. We also use it for understanding and visualizing algorithms.

Pros
