It provides third-party integrations. Although I find it isn't the best software for very basic drawing needs like basic shapes and paint-work. Pros It is completely based on the cloud. You can simply login with your email, choose a template or a blank canvas, and start working. IT provides free and paid options, which are all reasonable. I love the assortment of shapes and different diagramming options diagrams.net provides - you can easily draw UML classes, ER diagrams, charts etc and make them very attractive. For a designer, the choices are limited to how you can change the color themes, but for an average person with designing needs, it makes their work look professional. Easy integration with third party platforms makes it very convenient as well. Cons I would have liked a bit more options for exporting our work. Offline feature is not the best since it still requires an internet connection to start working or save your project. It is also open source and does not offer the security many big organizations would require in their visualization tool. Since then I've been using it as a substitute to novel planning programs, genealogy (especially family trees) programs and generic flowchart makers. It also helped me with game questline visualization and even data management schemes. Pros Draw.io is a clean, fast and versatile chart maker that surpasses some commercial alternatives when it comes to features and accessibility. It can be used by nearly everyone, regardless of age, profession and task at hand, due to how easy it is to master. It doesn't constrict you in any way and provides all tools necessary for making clean and professional-looking diagrams. Ability to save it and edit later is crucial, although often omitted in other browser-based alternatives. Exporting as a .PNG allows for flexibility and elegance when adding a chart to documents, websites or blogs. Cons The UI could use a bit of an overhaul as it looks like every other office suite, and the layout can be confusing. Included themes help a bit, although it lacks a modern touch. I use it to do all my flow diagrams, swim-lanes, even screen flows. It allows you to do almost anything. My favourite online app by far. It has great export features and I have exported my diagrams to png format and had no bad issues about it. It also saves an xml file and downloads it to your local so you can always continue where you left. Pros Draw.io is very compact solution for drawing diagrams. It has basically everything you need especially for UML Class diagrams. Exporting to pdf and png is great. Pros Draw.io is a super versatile tool that allows me to make flowcharts, UML diagrams, tables, etc. Very easily only with drag and drop, also I can import it in different formats and save them directly in the cloud on different platforms such as google drive, one drive, when creating prototypes or designs it has a great variety of icons and shapes that they can be applied easily. Cons What I like the least about draw.io is the quality of the predefined shapes, they look very old with very flat basic colors. December 13, 2018 5.0 Pros I need to create a LOT of flow charts of sorts to highlight workflow and processes with our internal team. I have tried Visio many many times and I just do not like using it. I find draw.io to work wonderfully in order to create very custom flow charts (that's the only thing I use it for). You can constantly change, move, reorder, rewrite etc everything on the chart. It has little snapping lines that help you adjust things to create a more aesthetically appealing chart. It's free and a wonderful tool! Cons My only con which is why I gave it 8 stars for would I rec commend, is that it takes a little while to get use to using. It's not the most user friendly and intuitive application so I did spend a good 20 minutes to learn where all the tools and functionality was. 20 minutes is not a long time, however for what I use the tool for it was longer than I was expecting. Software that is free, and easy sharing capabilities with collaborators. I've used it for making quick patent diagrams and for complex diagrams which need to go into reports or presentations. Pros It was extremely easy to learn to use draw.io without any training or tutorials. The interface was intuitive. I've used it primarily to make complicated flow charts, and they look extremely clean and readable; it's much easier than trying to make flow charts on powerpoint or other microsoft office tools. There are a decent number of options for customization. Colors and styles can be changed, images can be imported, etc. In general, it's a free tool that you can start using quickly! Additionally, the sharing features are great. It's easy to save your diagrams to google drive, or to generate links to share them with others. Cons While it's great for basic diagrams, it is somewhat limited in the number of different shapes that can be used. I don't need to worry about backups of the diagrams because they are saved directly to the google drive. Pros This online tool has a great collection of templates to boost your diagram with. And it has the capability of saving the editable version of your diagram to the google drive. The interface is very clear and the shapes and icons can be drag and drop. When creating flow charts it has an easy way of interconnecting them. This tool is open source and there are no limitations to the number of diagrams that you can save. They have released a desktop version for frequent users but the web application also very responsive. It helps me and my team save a lot of time and effort. The best feature is the Drag and Drop, which allows you to choose from most commonly used shapes and designs. Also, one can also comment/review on any diagram for further clarification. Cons The user interface can be enhanced further, as some features are difficult to locate. May 2, 2019 5.0 Recently I decided it was time to replace our aging network diagrams for a disaster recovery scenario and I found myself also tasked with creating a flowchart that would suffice as a partial software roadmap. my first inclination was to go with Visio, but then I remembered draw.io from a hobby project. remind me again of the name of that other free and open source graph/chart application? still thinking? that's ok, you don't have to. it was draw.io. Pros you just can't beat the price, the features, and the interface of this product. draw.io makes complicated charting and graphing as easy as clicking and dragging a mouse and hammering a keystroke now and then. Cons what's to dislike? possible the color of the icon; i'm not a fan of orange. also, the ability to have it create a chart based on spoken word would be a nice offering as well.
