### "OnPay is the only payroll solution you need!"

March 23, 2026

5.0

I've been using OnPay for 6 years and have never run into a problem. I was able to purchase the platform online and complete setup with no instruction or additional phone calls. It is much cheaper than the big payroll companies and has all the same bells and whistles.

Pros

OnPay is a great solution for any size business. It is a great value for the money. It's easy to setup and even easier to do a payroll run. You can run your 401k, loans, medical, etc. deductions easily. You can track attendance and run reports.

Cons

I haven't run into any cons yet. I love that a payroll run takes me less than 5 minutes and I can adjust/control everything on my end without phone calls or support chat.

### "Great company offering massive convenience "

November 22, 2025

5.0

Overall, OnPay is a fantastic company and I enjoyed utilizing their services. If it weren’t for the fact that our new POS system contains an all-in-one payroll, time keeping and taxes app, I would probably still be with OnPay.

Pros

The ease and convenience that OnPay provided was fantastic. I never had to worry if employees got paid on time or not. And then automatically taking care of payroll taxes and filing everything for me was great!

Cons

The only thing I didn’t like is that if there was anything wrong with payroll in any particular week, they completely lock you out of the account until it’s fixed. It makes it difficult to be able to tell exactly what’s going on when you can’t access your own account.

### "Great payroll service"

November 15, 2025

5.0

5 stars - completely satisfied. Their communication is second to none. Every question was answered and explained thoroughly

Pros

Great payroll service - website is very user friendly with some nice features - running payroll is straight forward - everything needed is displayed on one page - the service is reasonably priced. The absolute best part is their onboarding process with a zoom meeting to run the first payroll.

Cons

being in different time zones which is common but nothing to dislike about the company at all. Great experience.

### "Nice, but....."

December 8, 2025

3.0

Everyone is nice but this has been a frustrating process. If you have never done payroll before I would use a different company, this has been a lot.

Pros

Everyone I have spoke with has been very nice, pricing is decent and the website seems to function well

Cons

It is NOT a one stop shop, I have to speak to 1 person/department for this, another person or department for something else and another for something else. It is a lot of transferring and not sure I am doing it right because there are so many steps and people to talk to. I am sure once fully set up it will be fine but not an easy/user friendly process for a first time person

Alternatives considered

[Paylocity](https://www.capterra.com/p/86714/WebPay/)

Reason for choosing OnPay

The ads where misleading, it labels itself as easy to use and a one stop shop. If that were true I would not have had to set up 4 different appointments with 4 different companies or departments

### "Best Customer Service Payroll Experience"

September 18, 2025

5.0

I am very happy with OnPay and so glad I switched to them from my previous payroll software. I would highly reccommend them. They made the switch easy and I love that I can easily send in a request and actually get an answer same day or next day.

Pros

Great Value for the Money, Customer Support is AMAZING!!!! How to tutorials are clear and easy to understand.

Cons

The system does have a learning curve as it's not necessarily clear on first use how to do what you need however they make finding the answer very easy.

### "Happy transfer "

May 9, 2025

Fantastic! Moving from our old payroll system to this one was a huge upgrade. The transition was so simple and any time I call with a question, it is answered quickly and kindly.

Pros

How user friendly it is. If anyone is afraid to go to an online payroll system, I recommend this one. It’s extremely easy to navigate.

Cons

The reports aren’t as user friendly as I would like. I have to print off several different reports to get all the info I need.

### "Fantastic Customer Service"

January 10, 2026

5.0

My overall experience was very positive. The buying experience was easy, the hands-on customer service onboarding was stellar.

Pros

The customer service was incredible. I had a very tight deadline to buy, onboard, and run payroll. Their onboarding leader got on the phone and walked me through everything and ensured I met my payroll deadline.

Cons

I don't have any complaints. The product UX is good and fairly intuitive. The cost is very reasonable.

From the first sign up to now, it’s been amazing. We got the first month free which really helped us learn and see the functions without the pressure. Onboarding was seamless and customer service is amazing.

Pros

The onboarding assistance, the price, and the intuitive system. I appreciate that their team made it easy to transition over and the price is amazing for its value.

Cons

### "Easy to use program"

April 8, 2025

5.0

Pros

It is very user-friendly. I do not have a ton of experience with running payroll. However, I had to step in when our bookkeeper was unavailable and it was extremely easy. The interface is very intuitive. It is also easy to figure out how to set up direct deposit. I love that employees are able to create their own login and download their own paystubs, W-2, etc. They also send reminders about running payroll early if there is a holiday, which is very helpful.

Cons

I honestly cannot think of anything I don't like. It's been a great experience. If anything, it would be nice to customize the layout of the W-2 to a different format.

### "Great Experience "

September 2, 2025

5.0

Overall, very pleased with the experience! Had some reservations about the process; as an accountant I'm used to doing the data entry. It ended up being a great experience and I was so happy to have a direct point of contact to ask questions and check in on the process.

Pros

Serves agricultural clients, fair pricing. Pleased with the onboarding specialist who was very helpful in answering questions - having a direct line to them ended up being more valuable than I expected.

Cons

Requirement that they enter the data as it really tightened up my timeline to transition (but it worked great in the end)

### "And the award for best silent partner goes to...... OnPay!"

December 14, 2023

5.0

Being a small business owner isn't always rewarding but having OnPay reminds me that even though I'm doing this myself I'm not always alone. Between learning accounting and payroll to being up to speed on tax laws OnPay makes my life a little easier. Report reminders, user-friendly software, self-help options, transparency from start to finish in all aspects of this service are just a few reasons that it gives me the confidence I need to know I'm getting the job done with speed and accuracy. I definitely feel I've completed my tasks efficiently using OnPay and it's so affordable for everyone with straight across the board pricing without hidden fees or hiccups to deal with. They make payroll more approachable and takes out a lot of the guess work out that first time users may have and seasoned individuals will appreciate.

Pros

\*Affordable payroll at $40 a month plus $6 per employee gives any other company a run for their money \*Unlimited payroll runs \*Manage all types of pay for employees and workers \*Offers great HR resources with extensive library \*Self Service Portal that's intuitive and critical \*Overall EASY to use \*Self generating reports and checklists makes tax compliance simple \*Customer service is readily available and accessible in many ways to meet all your needs \*Employee portal

Cons

\*Extra cost for mailing documents \*No discount upon volume \*No mobile app for android users \*Tax alerts are proven hard to settle \*Time off doesn't always sync everywhere it should within the system

### "Onpay versus Paychex "

July 18, 2023

5.0

I have never had an issue with Onpay in over 8 years. Set my reminder towards end month to login and run payroll. Tax paperwork is always there and sent efficiently and on time.Costs is also a great reason to signup to Onpay for payroll purposes

Pros

First off, I was using Paychex for my small business payroll and tax purposes for 5 years initially when I started my PLC. It worked fine and given that my business is small it, I feel that I didn’t require much from the company. However, every year they would raise costs 20%. After 5 years, realize it wasn’t worth it to continue. Searched around and found Onpay. Have been using this service for over 8 years now without any problems. Easy to use, important paperwork always available online and easy to adjust. 99% of the things I need done can be done easily in their online portal. If I have a question, issue, or need help, there is always a tech person online I can chat with in real time. Haven’t had any issues in 8 years and tax paperwork has been correct and direct deposits has never been a problem.

Cons

If you need to be hand held through payroll and monthly deposits, etc…then perhaps use another service like Paychex that assign you a person for help. However, the means almost 10 times the cost for pretty basic things that you can do online without much effort with Onpay. Improvement can be that they send an email to remind you to run payroll towards end of month.

### "Our go-to payroll software! "

November 9, 2021

5.0

Pros

The best part about Onpay for us, is not only the ease of use, but the ability to set up Onpay so it maps to Quickbooks Online, so we don't have to make any adjustments later. Also, we are super thankful for Onpay's support as they are always super friendly and make sure any payroll challenges we have are resolved. Also, we really like the liabilities always balance. We struggled with other software, mainly quickbooks, where there are always odd amounts of payroll liabilities hanging in the account all the time.

Cons

We have an accountant dashboard, and we can't see our invoices directly, we have them sent to us each month. Billing isn't wonky or anything, we just don't have open access to the billing from our side. If it was the client's billing account, their billing activity shows up for them.

### "Payroll for our company is handled via OnPay"

March 6, 2023

5.0

Payroll is processed, taxes are paid and filed, and year-end reports are generated all through OnPay. The reason I went with OnPay is that they provide a turnkey service at a reasonable price. The onboarding process was painless, and customer service has been superb.

Pros

Thanks to OnPay, I can now run all of my commissions once a week, which is considerably more convenient for both my clients and my team. After a lot of research, I settled on OnPay, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. It was smooth sailing all the way through the transfer they facilitated for me in the middle of last year.

Cons

I'd like new hires to use the app to fill out more information, such as their Emergency Contact information. Instead than needing to log in and check, it would be great to be alerted when a candidate has accepted a proposal.

### "OnPay is the one and only outstanding payroll software"

October 21, 2021

OnPay is a great payroll software that offers great support to its users. With the help of this tool, you can easily call, chat, and even email. Moving on to the usability of this software, I think that there is a slight learning curve when it comes to payroll functionality but still thanks to my team because they helped me efficiently walk through the process.

Pros

Onpay is really easy to use plus printing reports and even deriving employee information is quite easy. It is one of the most efficient and effective payroll software that we have been using all across our organization. This software has easily enabled us to categorize different departments of our organization in an easy and hassle-free way. The tool is really quick in terms of responsiveness which I really admire. Onpay has always been really helpful throughout we have been a customer. All our payroll-related queries are resolved with OnPay. All in all, this is one of my essential products for our company.

Our office has cut out hours & hours & hours of being in hold with our previous payroll service. This also cut out our frustrations and has helped our sanity and enjoyment of processing payroll. When your IT works, you are happy and when it doesn't, you pray for good customer service.

Pros

OnPay has been exactly what I hoped for when choosing a payroll company. They are there when I need help and have a mostly intuitive interface that allows me to take care of tasks on my own. They stay on top of tax related issues relative to

Pros

I like the ease of use with OnPay. And when there are issues or concerns, their team is quick to respond...sometimes even taking over my desktop to explain a process or location for a specific query.

Cons

I live in a municipality where a local tax is not taken out of paychecks as it only triggers after a certain income. While my household does ultimately hit the threshold for this high income when combined with my wife, right now it is not a tax that OnPay has been able to take out voluntarily, even though I would like them to.

### "OnPay made multiple tax errors and took months and months to respond"

November 19, 2023

3.0

Overall I would not recommend OnPay. It was a bad experience due to tax errors and integrations that did not work. The net result is OnPay caused our small business to receive hundreds of dollars of fees and interest plus more in accounting costs.

Pros

OnPay is fine as long as you don't need any support. Their support team is slow and error-prone. If you are doing payroll for a small business you probably need some level of support.

Cons

The problem with OnPay is this... They often misfiled wage withholding with state government. Sometimes they made calculation errors. Other times they filed a day or two late. Either way, it cost fees, interest, and time to resolve the issue. The biggest problem was how long it took OnPay to even respond to these issue. For example, I once submitted a ticket on on \[sensitive content hidden\], and had OnPay submit a response on \[sensitive content hidden\] . For another incident they simple never responded. Also, OnPay did not honor the first month free that they advertise.
