Pros: Blender is used by professionals around the world. Because it is open source and has such wide usage and effort behind its development, it is very unlikely that Blender will ever fade away. Using Blender for your projects ensures long-term access to your files and you'll accumulate skills that will be useful well into the future.

I used Blender only for video editing so I cannot comment on its other features.

Strong video editing capabilities - it is relatively easy to import footage and to make basic cuts, move footage, and add basic fades and transitions.

To simplify the import of video clips, install the Kinoraw Tools addon.

It offers a good way to import media clips through the file browser. The Kinoraw tool will allow you to import all files in the browser, or

This plugin adds features that allow the user to select large numbers of small clips and snap the selection to a designated clip. It also allows selection by type of clip so its easy to grab all of the sound clips to export to an audio editor. The plugin also includes an "inverse" selector to select everything except the currently selected clip. The Kinoraw tool also includes a convenient fade-in fade-out tool accessible in the Strip menu option

Cons: After reading and watching many tutorials on using Blender for video editing, I hoped to rely on Blender exclusively for video creation.

While Blender indeed offers powerful video editing features, the average person will not find it easy to use.

Blender cannot automatically detect resolution and frame rates so if you have video from different cameras and wish to edit these different resolutions files in the timeline in Blender, you will encounter numerous problems. Software should be able to detect these various settings automatically and make necessary adjustments or at the very least, warn the user that the clips are incompatible and guide the user through various fixes.

There were too many other problems with trying to edit a 2 hour film and I eventually gave up and moved to the open-source video editor Kdenlive.

Regardless of my experience, many users in fact rely on Blender for video editing and enjoy the process. Maybe you will find it to be the best tool for you.

Overall: Overall, Blender is a very powerful tool, that can be used for video editing. However, because it is designed to be a 3-D graphics tool which also has video capabilities, it is not the easiest tool to use. I continue to remain intrigued by Blender and in a year or two will revisit it's video editing workflow.

It is my Go-To software to do any complex graphics and animation work.

Pros: I've used Blender for over 8 years now, and it has rarely failed me. Being the jack of all trades, it not only possesses quick modelling and animation tools, but it also has a powerful shader system as well as the ability to sculpt. It can even be enhanced to limitless degrees with add-ons, and recently there has even been the Armory3D Engine that can help create games with it. I also rarely find myself having to rely on any external video editor because Blender's internal VSE often gets the job done for me, even though it can take some time to know one's way around it. Plus, I'm in love with Blender's modular interface, allowing me to customize it depending on my situations as I see fit.

Cons: Sadly, despite the modularity of the interface, it can feel a bit cluttered and confusing to get around at times (an issue which will likely be fixed by the time version 2.8 comes around), and due to its unconventional way of handling things, it can be a little harder to learn. Also, because it's a jack of all trades, one may expect it to be a master of none, which can be plain to see while sculpting, being not as powerful as ZBrush nor as stable when handling heavy meshes. Its compositing, too, while a welcome addition to quickly customize one's render, can feel very unintuitive at times. There's also very limited and imprecise means to control image sequences as texture option which often bothers me, but the fact that it even has that feature to begin with is something I that makes me turn a blind eye to this last point.

Overall: This is one of the core softwares that I use, being cost effective (that is, "Free") as well as powerful in a single package! Not only do I save a lot of money by sticking to this I also make significantly more without having to rely or specialized software just to get the job done. My workflow has also improved, and I'm able to quickly create prototypes, edits and complete works of art with a single tool.

Pros: The thing I like most if the ease of use after fully understanding what everything does. It looks intimidating and complicated if you're a new user of blender, but after looking at a few tutorials of what you want to do in it, whether it be animation, character modeling, prop modeling, whatever it may be, it becomes easier to do and to understand. You do have to learn a little bit on your own, but as far as I have been using it, since 2015, I haven't ran into anything I can't do without a little bit of googling.

Cons: The thing I liked least about this software when starting out was, as I said in the pros, it is intimidating to look at when being a new user of the software. It stressed me out when I didn't know where to begin, however, this was easy to get over with some googling and a little bit of tutorials that didn't cost me a lot of time, for a big payout after I learned the software.

Overall: This is the 3D modeling program I use. I use it with a texturing software and a rendering software and sell my 3D models I make with it. It has helped me grow my business of making 3D props for game developers.

Pros: Blender is a glimpse of what creative people can do when they really care and work together. This software is free, which is amazing considering the incredible power it unleashes for the user. That is, by far, the greatest positive aspect of Blender. Using it involves no risk, no cost, and minimal commitment (no need to register a license).

Yet, despite being free, Blender is incredible. Blender is nearly as capable as any competing products, yet receives so many updates, and so frequently, that the race for feature parity moves along at a break neck speed. So, even if it is not as polished as Autodesk or Maxon software, it's always getting better.

It also cannot be understated how valuable the user community is. Any new feature, change, or patch that is issued has tons of forum posts, video tutorials, and feedback. If a new user has a question about anything, it is almost guaranteed that someone else has asked the same thing and made a guide.

In short, Blender is free, powerful, and has an awesome community.

Cons: The learning curve for Blender is pretty high, especially for those new to 3d modeling and animation. Because Blender is open source, it is not as slick or smooth as competing products, but that's only a problem if you have used other software.

It can also be difficult to achieve completely stable/balanced performance out of Blender without a pretty powerful computer. That said, this just comes with the territory. 3D animation is computationally taxing.

It's difficult to complain about free software that already does so much.

Pros: Blender is very versatile software, that can be used for animation, video editing/filmmaking, videogames development and 3D modeling in general. It is capable of something soft and cute as Toy Story, but also able to do something sleek as a CGI realistic Hollywood scene such as the ones seen in Deadpool.

Is as poweful as the competing alternatives and completely open source, does not require a high-spec machine to work with proper stability (Although this might vary depending on the size of the files you are working with).

There are many free resources available such as tutorials, pre-made models and plugins that enhance the learning experience.

Even though it is full of complexities, the user interface is very user-friendly.

Cons: Even though Blender is able to achieve industry standards results, these outcomes require an extra effort compared to other alternatives, other applications are able to accomplish smoothness in an almost automated way thanks to some filtering tools that Blender lacks, this has highly improved in the latest versions, but is still not as efficient as I would like.

Blender's Community is amazing, but they lack a proper Customer Support alternative that some competing products might have. (This is a very common issue with Open Source softwares).

Overall: With Blender I explored the world of 3D animation that I always wanted to. You do not need to be an expert to get a grasp on it, there is plenty material online to learn the basics and improve from there. I have already tried other applications and I can tell that Blender is a great option to start in this field.

Pros: Modular, customizable interface: you can transform your project's interface in all kinds of ways, by creating and swapping workspaces on the go. The shortcut system is great, allowing to remove useless menus and do everything through a keyboard. The Material editor is simply amazing, giving you a lot of control. Modifiers allow to preview all effects without actually applying them, making things easier and easier. The program is also completely free and regularly updated. The rendering process is pretty straightforward, while leaving room for more experienced users to experiment even more.

Cons: The entire shortcut system, although great, might be disorienting for most inexperienced users.

Sculpting a model and trying to keep it as low-poly as possible might prove harder than in other tools, due to how the program reacts to user inputs.

Overall: I have been using Blender as my first 3D modeling/rendering software, which initially caused me some trouble. After a while, I learned how easy and practical the entire shortcut system is: fast, reliable, and accurate. I used the tool just to practice and create very basic stuff, and the sheer amount of possibilities amazed me. I switched over to different software, but I still think at Blender as the best possible choice, being it both free and extremely advanced.

Pros: Blender is amazing. Its so well designed and has a lot of features and versatility. It literally can do everything and is super amazing to learn 3D on. Its easy to use and helps break down 3D animation into separate parts to make learning easy and fun.

Cons: It has TOO much freedom. Blender can do anything and is open source, which means every month there is a spew of new features you will never use and not care about. Its a multitool, I think it succeeds best in its animation, being up there with even Maya in terms of usability, but it just falls short on all its other features.

Overall: I used Blender to teach students animation and it was honestly the best experience. Its so easy to learn that students from the age as early as 7 were able to learn and thrive.

Pros: ery complete, contains the fundamental tools and commands to model in 3d without problems from simple forms to very complex forms, I have been satisfied with its tool panel and also has support from its developers when you present errors or problems, it is a software with a very active design community.

Cons: It lacks some important technical factors for modeling, to be precise it will take some time if the project you are developing is a mechanical piece or an object with well-defined curved dimensions and dimensions which will make the technical work take longer than expected .

Overall: A very well developed program, a software that improves continuously and with a community that participates in its development and improvements, very important to emphasize that it is free and that it is ideal to start in the world of 3d getting really surprising results since it is very complete.

Pros: I had no experience in any sort of modeling or animation, but Blender felt welcoming from the get-go. I have now familiarized myself with it, and have gotten pretty good, so I'd say that is a testament to how good the program is. Also, it's free to try out, so why not give it a go if you're wondering if it's worth it?

Cons: Most of the cons I could pick at should be taken in reference to the free nature of Blender. As I've grown my knowledge of design, I've noticed a lot of UI issues and functionality. For example, a program like Maya has so many integrated parts to work on each little feature, that the Jack-of-all-trades Blender doesn't measure up to.

Pros: Blender is an all-in-one 3D modeling application that, in spite that it is freeware, does everything and anything anyone needs to make from basic geometric shapes to intricate Hollywood style special effects. This software can do far more than what I know what to do with it.

Though it is free and open source, it has an extremely large support infrastructure.

I've used Blender to make photorealistic 3D models of our retail packaging for our clients.

I find this to be more visually effective than just a plain photoshopped render. With a 3D model you can show the customer any angle they want top see their product from.

Cons: The one downside, is that it has so many features that I have yet to learn them all. Which in all fairness is no fault of the application.

Overall: The fact that if one was going to buy off the shelf software to do the same things one can do with this one application, one would have to buy a multitude if different applications, all of which run anywhere.

Pros: I have used Blender to edit and create basic 3d models for 3d printing and have had a great experience using it. It is easy to use and anything I don't know how to do is easy to learn with a simple search.

Blender is incredibly powerful and can be used for many different projects, such as polygon editing, 3d sculpting, rigging, 3d animation, video VFX, and even an integrated game engine. Because of how popular Blender is, there is an incredible amount of helpful users, tutorials, and plugins that will make learning blender even easier.

Cons: The learning curve of blender can be daunting for some, especially with how many different functions the program has compared to more specialized offerings. Other offerings, both free and commercial, have more specialized tools that expedite certain workflows. while

Due to being open-source, there is no direct traditional support system you would get from a commercially supported and developed program. Other programs like Maya and 3ds Max also see more professional use, making learning Blender less practical if you are in the industry.

Pros: First of all, it must be noted that Blender is a *free* and open-source 3D editing software. This makes it a must-have for anyone trying to create, edit, animate and / or render 3D models and scenes.

Each of the major components (modelling, animation, rendering) is full of basic and advanced features. Despite the software's complexity, its user interface does a great job at integrating its different aspects.

The built-in physically-based renderer (Cycles) comes with a powerful graph-based material model editor, which allows tweaking each object's appearance in great detail.

Scripting support in Python for all main features is a great bonus for power users.

Finally, the large community and swath of free online learning resources make it possible to approach this complex software, even as a total beginner.

Cons: The user interface, while very clean in appearance, is not very easy to grasp. Likewise, proficiency in this software requires mastering many keyboard shortcuts and modes. This drawback is alleviated by the quality of online tutorials available for free.

I believe Blender also includes a game engine, although it is likely best to rely on Blender for 3D authoring, and then export assets to specialized software such as Unity.

Pros: Ever since I started using blender, modelling could not be easier. It is really friendly and features almost everything that a 3D modeller would need in his work. It has advanced shader functionality, nodes for manipulating almost every aspect of the rendering process, it is lightning fast when it has to render huge scenes with hundreds of ojbects. In many instances Blender does the work way better than other paid industry-standard rendering softwares. It is also free and anyone can download it and use it. If you are an aspiring 3D designer, then I recommend you start off with Blender and explore all of its awesome features and functionalities.

Cons: There aren't a lot of cons really. I have been using the software for almost 3 years now and apart from the occasional crash or the at times really obscure menus, Blender is an awesome program and they are constantly improving.

Pros: It is one of the best animation programs, for me among the first three and I love it because I can use it in any operating system, as well as when I'm rendering, it has options that clean up the noise giving me a higher quality animation and another the best options is the composition that lets me handle the shadows like a professional in a very simple way.

Cons: The program is great and they have incredible potential especially in their render engines depending on the end of the animation, and the program is extremely light for installation. The problem is that when the animation is very complex the render is delayed depending on the potential of the equipment that is being used.

Overall: my experience has been great for two things first in my work I have the ubuntu operating system, in my house I have windows and in the computer of my dad I have mac OS that sometimes lends me when I visited and in all the systems works excellent, second In the foundation where I was asked to learn to animate and they recommended the program I already had an experience with another animation program and with blender it was incredibly easy and super powerful.

Pros: Despite the initially less intuitive interface that comes with Blender, thanks to the vast array of documentation and tutorials even someone with little to no experience with 3D Modelling or Animation can pick up Blender and have something developed within a day. This is extremely important for bringing in new users and artists.

A big selling point for power users that use Blender will be the plugins. There are lots that can be turned on immediately from first launch. They present you with an immense amount of power including plugins which help you with your topology to plugins which present you with a library of textures which you can use for your models.

Thanks to the open-source nature of Blender, there are a lot of smart people that help with the development, bringing tons of new features and improvement to the free software. These features, mean that Blender can fight up there with the software that costs thousands without costing the user a single penny.

Cons: The con that stands out for most people right away would be the interface, there are a ton of shortcuts within Blender that will take you months to learn as well as some buttons you may never learn to use.

Pros: Blender has amazing capabilities, and in some cases can do more than paid 3D softwares. Blender is your catch-all for modeling, simulation (fluid, smoke, dynamics, etc.), texturing, sculpting, and rendering. It even has a video editor and node based compositor. The best part about Blender is that it is completely free. In fact, it's open source. Anyone looking to get started in 3D animation, motion graphics, or VFX can easily download blender and get started.

Cons: Despite the incredible capabilities, Blender can be a bit tricky to get started with. The user interface isn't very intuitive and can be much more confusing to learn than other softwares. Fortunately, there are many resources online to learn Blender.

Overall: Blender is a cheap (in fact, free) way for beginners to get started in 3D animation. Although it is not an industry standard, it can help users to learn skills and techniques that apply to all 3D workflows.

Pros: The price, of course, is the best part. You can do realistic, highly detailed work without spending a penny - something that is amazing considering the price of other professional software that's available for this sort of thing.

If you're dedicated, this is all you will need for a wide variety of projects.

Cons: The learning curve. Relative to other options - it's not terribly complicated by any means. But the fact is - any 3D modeling software with this type of flexibility is going to be very time consuming to learn, and unfortunately, Blender is absolutely no exception to that rule.

For example: when first learning Blender (and 3D modeling in general), I took several hours to look at various tutorials and practice a little bit. I successfully made a polygonal palm tree and a coconut with eyeballs. It was super simple looking (albeit aesthetically pleasing), but took many an hour. It took far less time to forget how I accomplished all of that when I took a hiatus from Blender.

Overall: - A free option for 3D modeling

- 3D animation capabilities

- Good practice for other software that I also use

- Good means of visualizing projects

Pros: - Blender is one of the best tools i have ever discovered which comprises of both incredible render engine and 3-d modeling.Blender can be used for both modeling or using your premade 3-d models to simulate and animate in real time.I have been using blender for many purposes including animation and modeling for characters for my character designs or for using characters in my games. It is an all round tool for 3-d modeling and animation needs.THe icing on the cake is "It's a freeware" and so small in size that you dont need an expensive professional setup to fullfill your creative hunger.

Cons: It has very slow viewport rendering system and makes your work very tedious as you have to wait for realtime changes on your design. It mostly happens when the scene is high-poly scene. Also it has very intuitive layering system to work with.

Overall: Easy to use workflow and 3-d modeling with such simple interface makes time effective work.

Pros: The 3d modeling tools are very complete, you can achieve really surprising and professional results for renders, animation and special effects, it is free and also allows you to import models from other softwares which makes it really efficient to design, it has a great variety of tools and options to carry out very complete virtual projects.

Cons: The interface is not friendly at all, it will take you a long time to achieve the proper management of your commands, start modeling complex forms requires time, dedication, research and passion for optimal results, there are so many options and commands that it is difficult to understand all the possibilities existing in the software.

Overall: It is very useful to model furniture with really complex shapes, the result of animation and render with the right materials offer a very professional and realistic appearance to promote the generated designs.

Pros: Blender is multi platform. There is a native version for each of the main operating systems. Windows, Mac OS and Linux. It works excellent on all 3 platforms and you do not depend on the system. Very light. It is a feature that has been lost in the "monstrous" programs of today. Above all it has increased in the top 3d programs for Autodesk production. With a simple internet connection you have access to Blender before.

Blender is also digital sculpture. Blender despite its small size includes the ability of digital sculpture with comparable results to commercial packages such as Zbrush or Mudbox.

Cons: It does not use all computer processors by default. Sometimes you have problems with polygons with more than 4 sides. It does not have a source of income to hire specialized developers. You can do the same in many programs although this is the best known.

Overall: blender has many advanced features, such as modeling tools based on modifiers, powerful character animation tools, node-based material

Pros: I've never once come across a task that I couldn't do in blender. From fluid dynamics, engineering, animation and even film production. It is by far the most exceptional peice of free software I have ever used.

Cons: The complete lack of tool-tips makes teaching yourself how to use the tools almost impossible. If you aren't sure what changing a parameter will do then just trying it is very unlikely to tell you. More thorough documentation would make a world of difference.

Pros: It's free! Completely free and fully powered. We've been able to use this for modeling and texturing in our 3D games.

Cons: The right click interface choice would be our biggest gripe. It's easily changeable in settings to match your current habits of left clicking if you're inclined so it's not a deal breaker at all.

Pros: Blender is really rich in features.. you can almost do anything once you are familiar with it. eevee and cycles can give production quality outputs. with a great community and lots of tutorials.. blender can be easily mastered. most of all.. it's free and always will be !

Cons: The interface is bit complicated for beginners..also it takes time to get familiar with the keypad controls and shortcuts. cycles has some noise problem especially when doing interior scenes

Overall: Blender is a really good place to start. with enough effort anyone can learn blender. I use blender for architectural visualization and as a hobby. compared to other software and renderers blender is a bit hard to use.. but it's worth it.

Pros: Blender is comparible to some of the best paid softwares out there, for my uses which is mainly motion graphics and visual effects, I can't believe what it comes with in terms of tools.

Blender is definitely an industry standard, they used this free program for Captain America: Winter Solider so at least you know you're not just using some spit and glue program. It is a full fledged 3D modeling solution.

Cons: As with every program there is a learning curve and where some of the bigger company's with the expensive price tags can afford to invest in the best of the best UI improvements and plugins, Blender always felt less use friendly in some regards.

Overall: My main benefit was the ability to improve my 3D modeling skills without having to drop an entire paycheque into a program I may never use or may never earn anything from. It's a great way to get started as the cost is free.

Pros: This software is packed with the same or similar features that a professional 3D modeling software that could cost a month has. The hotkeys make workflow fast and clicks minimal. There are also endless resources and tutorials available online by blender themselves or other people who have worked with it.

Cons: The UI can be improved because some parts look outdated or cluttered. The material nodes can also be improved when users have to connect the nodes. It can also be confusing for beginners because the program doesn't tell you what features do what unless you go to the manual.

Pros: Steep learning curve aside, Blender is a full suite of modeling, rigging, rendering package of tools for the 3D space. Plus, the few tutorials I've gotten through turn out beautifully once all the steps have implemented properly... something I constantly work on. As Blender is free, it really can't be beat.

Cons: Whether you have begun 3D modeling and design using Blender, or have simply looked into the program, more than likely, you are familiar with the steep learning curve of Blender. Even after watching tutorials online, I still have to continually re-watch and often review these "how-to's" to be able to tackle my first few projects. Thankfully, the Blender community is wide and diverse and many recognize the program to be difficult to master.

Overall: While getting started and becoming familiar with the program and its abilities may take some time, it can be argued that it matches other expensive programs like 3DS Max in terms of end-product quality. Plus, it's free!

Pros: Integrated 3D game engine, with a logical brick system. For more control programming in Python language is used.

Dynamic simulations for softbodies, particles and fluids.

Stackable modifiers, for the application of non-destructive transformation on meshes.

System of static particles to simulate hair and coats, to which new properties have been added among shaders options to achieve realistic textures.

Multiplatform, free and with a really small size of origin compared to other 3D packages, depending on the operating system in which it is executed.

Capacity for a wide variety of geometric primitives, including curves, polygonal meshes, voids, NURBS, metaballs.

Cons: It is limited to the number of processors of the computer, we would have to configure

You can do the same in many programs, there are many programs equal to blender, but this is a good option

Pros: Where to begin? I used Blender for a long time learning to model and create animations for my videos and had a lot of fun doing it and I thought that was it. Then a few months ago a friend showed me how he uses Blender to edit videos. I really like that functionality where I can create a 3D intro and then put the video together all in the same program.

Cons: Blender is very difficult to master. I have been using it over 3 years, and it took me most of that time just to learn to do minor animations and rendering.

Overall: I use it for creating 3D intros to my videos mostly but this software is very powerful and can also be used as a video editor.

Blender has evolved over the years to become so polished, it's not the primary 3D software I use.

Pros: I used to use 3D Studio Max for my 3D work, but that's a bit outside the budget of an independent artist. When I first started years ago, Blender wasn't nearly as polished and professional as it is now. I don't even miss 3DS anymore. The number of features available in Blender are incredible. The frequency of updates means it's keeping up with the industry standards. The community behind it is incredible, with countless tutorials, addons, and assets. Using Blender with like Substance Painter or Unity means there's really nothing I can't get done. The new rendering engine, Evee, is a game changer, showing production quality results alongside the actual modelling.

Cons: As with all 3D development software, there's a steep learning curve. It's also strange that the right and left mouse button are reversed by default, but it's an easy enough fix in the settings.

Overall: I save a ton of money by using the open source Blender over the expensive commercial competitors. I always get the newest features with their frequent updates, and I can easily find any information I need thanks to their seemingly omnipresent community.

Blender has been a learning experience, it is at times challenging to figure out, but it's worth it.

Pros: The possibilities in Blender are immense. You can do animation, physics simulations, and detailed renderings. And there is a user base that is extremely helpful to anyone who needs some guidance on how to use the software. There is also a huge amount of add-ons that can be easily installed to allow even further exploration into the world of Blender.

Cons: The only major drawback to blender is the ease of use. It is a fairly complex software and has many uses, but it hasn't been completely streamlined yet and can take lots of time to figure out.

They're are many ways to learn this software and a lot of them are within the software itself. I like how many options that you have. I have used a ton of different 3d modelers and this is the one I always come back to.

Cons: I don't like how hard this software is to use for a beginner. When I tried to have my class use it they were all lost and it took us a very long time to do simple tasks. It would be nice if they could make the UI look a little nicer as well.

Pros: There's a lot of variety and options for the things that you can do with Blender. I've created many 3D models and assets that can be easily translatable to other works. Your options for creativity seem endless, and everything from color, to shape and size can be modifiable. It's a good value for the money

Cons: It can be very hard to master what you do in Blender alone. Many times you should just simply go to YouTube or other video sites for tutorials to find out creative ideas and what to do. There's simply such a large variety of options that it can be a bit overwhelming, but the possibilities being endless is not a bad thing by any means.

Overall: The ability to create and manipulate 3D models for either video or photo making, and much more. It improved my experience greatly with this type of software, and I would say I feel much more confident in developing and creating various models.

Pros: It is a free tool, which also allows you to use different tools including the software, in addition to 3d modeling allows you to edit video and other very useful tools, the software weighs little and also after taking the time to learn it ends up being much more efficient that other platforms, allow you to review for possible improvements of the program and are relamente taken into account.

Cons: Although it seems to me that it is an excellent program, it has certain shortcomings with respect to other paid programs of the same 3d modeling line, it is a complex software in which it takes a lot of time to be able to use it optimally, you must invest more time to Modeling complex forms since the tools for this are less efficient than those of other platforms.

In the beginning, the process of learning and modeling will be tedious.

Overall: The benefit is wide, costs and utility very efficient to use it in the area of architectural animation, the render engine is excellent and the results surprising.

Pros: Blender is a great software solution that can be used for 3D modelling and animation in game development. It as a great video editing feature which I found myself using a lot. one of the bonus is that the solution is free and open source, and files can be exported to a variety of formats.

Cons: Hardly anything to complain about with Blender. One thing I can say, if your workstation specs are not up to standard, you may experience lagging using this software. Another thing of note I have heard others say, if you are engineering-inclined, the learning curve might be quite steep.

Overall: Editing videos and creating great 3D graphics.

Pros: Wow. For a free 3D design and animation software package, Blender is incredible. Even after years of on and off learning and playing with this program, the features are able to create impeccable renders. As the freemium version of Maya or 3DS Max, Blender combines all the main features you come to expect in a software like this that produce realistic - or unbelievable - digital assets.

Cons: As I can expect many other to admit, there is a very steep learning curve with Blender. Even after hours of follow along videos and practice over numerous weeks, I still have not been able to remember all the basic keyboard shortcuts as there several options using similar keyboard shortcuts with one or two key differences. Also, while user error is probably more than half of this nitpick, sometimes specifically defining points or portions of an asset you want to select simply do not occur as you would expect.

Pros: Never in my life would I have imagined a piece of of software as powerful as Blender being offered for free. Given the breadth of its tool set, it's almost comedic that others in the beginner/intermediate stages of their education (or career) would even consider using a different 3D package.

From modeling, to rigging, to animation, to rendering (and much more), Blender is a one stop shop for nearly all of your 3D art/game development/visual effects needs.

Cons: After years of using other 3D packages, I can tell a slight difference in the user friendliness of certain tools, but this feedback pales in comparison to what is being offered and the accessibility of learning resources for their tools.

Pros: It's free, it's feature rich and easy to use once you dedicate some time to get into it. It works perfectly in a game development asset pipeline for major engines like Unity and Unreal. The tiny team are dedicated to major feature and stability updates, while expensive competitors are bloating software.

Cons: The heavily adjustable UI can sometimes be annoying to restore if you accidentally use a hotkey and hide something you didn't intended to. There is no real official support as it's a free product, though the community is active and supportive.

Multiplatform, free and with a really small size of origin compared to other 3D packages, the best.

Pros: Most likely the fact that it's free. Other programs like Cinema4D cost quite a bit of money. Also, Blender has all if not more features of Cinema4D

Cons: Probably the optimization. Blender requires high end hardware to run, and it can really take a toll on lower end systems and laptops. Sometimes, even my I7 and 1070 have stutters and hiccups randomly.

Overall: Being able to use this as a starting editing software was a GODSEND for me and my youtube channel. Editing the first videos on my channel were a bit difficult in windows movie maker seeing as it is no longer supported.

Oh, well, you do need to know a small amount of coding, it helps, but hey, if you don't you can teach yourself!

Overall: I get to develop my ideas and imagination into something 3D and useable!

Pros: - we have a version for windows and Mac and it's total free

- advanced tools and effects

- small size of the program file

Cons: - Hardware requirements (but this is justified due to rendering)

- You have to get used to the interface and it's hard to learn by yourself.

Overall: learning Blender in design studies

Pros: Blender does very good what other apps do at a much higher price. It provides toold for 3D modeling, texturing and particles effects, with a decent quality.

Cons: Blender is a solid app, but it doesn't do as much as some other apps. You can't forget this is a free and open source project though.

Pros: There are a ton of tutorials to get you familiarized with Blender. Fair amount of support and probably the shortest amount of ramp up time compared to other tools like Maya.

Cons: The compatibility with Adobe After Effects/Premiere left some to be desired. You have to go around and do some extra steps to have usable footage.
