### "Blender represents a significant experience for the world of 3D modeling."

August 6, 2025

5.0

I've been working with Blender for 6 years and since I started using it I haven't stopped using it. It has served me for everything, including currently giving workshops related to my art and I use the software as a teaching tool. That's very rich, it's easy for me to break it down and study it, because it's made for the user.

Pros

I have been a Blender user for 6 years, I work in 3D, one of the things I liked most about Blender is its potential as an open source software, generally speaking I have seen the software distributed in another way and seeing its evolution over time seems incredible to me, what I like most is that now it meets the needs of the user according to the type of work that one does in 3D and its segmentation is much better, also all the power it has in each area for example it is quite complete in modeling, sculpting, texturing, and the most incredible thing is the new geometry node, which is a very rich place to create procedural geometries, not to mention the amount of addons and things that it allows you to achieve, it is a program to exploit, I could make a whole sheet saying everything I think, in fact I teach classes with this software and so far my experience has been good

Cons

Blender may be powerful, but I feel that with artificial intelligence it is still behind, however it is still one of the best programs I have tried, I don't know if I have many things to say, because I find it easy, but I am certainly sure that there will be improvements to be made because you can always build more on open source software, and I think they have understood well what did not work in the past.

### "Blender - Free And Amazing! "

December 18, 2025

5.0

I love Blender, I mostly use it for hard surface modelling and UV unwrapping - which has always worked so well for me. It took me a while to understand it all and I still have my moments of confusion, but the software is worth every bit of effort.

Pros

For a free software, it has an amazing amount of coverage for all types of industry roads (3D, 2D, Rendering, VFX, Animation, the list goes on) and has amazing features for artists. The software is also frequently updated with new stuff, keeping up with the industry needs and standards.

Cons

Though it is a positive, the amount of stuff it covers can be overwhelming for new users and it takes some time to wrap your head around where everything is - but once you know, it because a valuable tool.

### "Donate to Blender!"

February 23, 2026

5.0

Overall, this is my go to 3D software, I use it for basically everything in my work. Once you get past the quirks it is one of the most reliable programs that I use

Pros

It does so many things. I use it every day for almost every stage of the game character pipeline for light sculpting, box modeling, UV editing, texturing hand painted textures, retopology, rigging and animation. It has so many other features that I hardly ever use and am still learning about, and it is constantly being updated and improving.

Cons

Sculpting tools and brushes don't 'feel' that great, also it can be buggy if you use subdivisions. Also, the skinning/weight painting system is cumbersome at times.

### "Worst 3d program"

April 30, 2021

2.0

I had to use as a trainee in architectural office where all bigger 3d projects were done in blender. Why on earth anyone would use it because there was a cinema 4d licence in the house?

Pros

Cycles is quite good and you can get same quality as in commercial packages.

Cons

It has no windows user aproach to its use and it is awkward to pick up and start making any project very fast Option are cluttered all over the place There is no left mouse action but it is something else.

### "Industry Standard 3D and 2D animation software, game development and much more"

January 13, 2026

5.0

I have about 6 years of experience using Blender, since version 2.78. The advances made in that time are incredible.

Pros

I love Blender for so many reasons. It's available for free, though contributing to this amazing project is a good idea.

Cons

This isn't really a criticism, but some still view it as not being an industry standard application, although recent feature movies and other things have thankfully proved that wrong.

Alternatives considered

Pros

Since Blender is open source, there are constant additions to it hence it has many different types of features which are very helpful, the community is also very active. Since it has such a huge community, assets are really easy to find as well as tutorials

Cons

### "Using Blender as a freelancer and a Student"

June 12, 2025

5.0

I use it Daily and so far to be honest, i have 0 complaints. For a student to be able to use such a software without having to spend any money is a blessing.

Pros

The most important thing is that it is completely free, compared to the other main 3d softwares. The Ui is user friendly. Beginners can use it almost immediately. There is a big blender community, which is good for people that are trying to learn it, looking for help. There is thousands of tutorials on youtube for it. You can do with blender anything you can do on the other softwares.

Cons

For the most part, my experience with blender is great but The simulation's system can be improved more, and the texturing and uv tools could be much better.

### "Blender: Great Output"

February 25, 2026

4.0

Having an architecture background, I enjoyed Blender when doing parametric modelling and curvilinear architecture. And it is extremely diverse with great graphics and rendering output. I was really fascinated by its ability to play with windows (duplicate, replace or even create) especially when working on large projects.

Pros

The sheer-ability to do a parametric modelling and ability to create your own workspace, divide and play with windows is the thing I liked the most about Blender.

Cons

Least Liked: Its complex and not easy for beginners. Since its one of the newborn software, it won't run smoothly on old platform even on windows 10.

### "Free and Powerful but hard to learn"

October 27, 2025

Powerful, free tool. Great for designers doing occasional 3D. It takes a lot of time to learn but the value is really unmatched. I love Blender

Pros

It's free and has insane rendering power (Cycles). The features are better than some paid software. Huge community support! AND also Open source. REally great

Cons

The learning is so long. The interface is overwhelming at first, and linking to other programs is sometimes frustrating. But like any 3D grogram I guess.

### "Blender for 3D Modeling: Robustness and Variety of Features (for Free)"

November 6, 2024

5.0

I used Blender for a few personal projects while I was learning more about 3D modeling. I didn’t use it for too long since I eventually moved away from this area, even though I really enjoyed it. Anyway, regarding the tool, I loved it—no crashes during any of my projects, and some of them were quite heavy. It truly offers an endless array of options, from geometric shapes to different types of shadow rendering, light positioning, camera angles, and more. I highly recommend it.

Pros

I liked that Blender offers many options for modeling, especially for hard surface modeling. I haven't used it as much for character modeling, but it's an incredible tool for creating environments, objects, armor, and so on. Additionally, I found it to be a software with excellent rendering quality and lighter than others I've used before.

Cons

Eu diria que a curva de aprendizado no software não é tão simples, pois tem muitas variáveis no uso, porém depois que você aprende, já fica tudo automático.

My overall experience has been good with blender, It was an easy program to learn and I'm able to model at a faster rate than Maya with faster smoothing features.

Pros

Blender is a fast and ready-to-go software, Im able to do any type of modeling faster than most 3d modeling software. I like how versatile it is.

Cons

The least thing I like about Blender is it's not mainstream in the keyboard shortcuts but is still easy to understand and adjust.

### "Blender: 3D and beyond"

September 13, 2023

5.0

Been using this software for nearly 8+ years, and it's been incredible update after update. In my experience, the features are so endless that the learning experience is always rewarding in it's rediscoverability. Many things can be achieved, and they can be done usually in different approaches. You are not tied to only one way of doing things. From what I see, updates are always being released and the development for this program is steady.

Pros

All kinds of tools, from sculpting to texturing, to video editing, to 2D animation, to modeling. Blender has them all! It supports add-ons and Python scripting. It has a great rendering engine for Path-Tracing, Cycles, and another one called EEVEE for real-time 3D visualization. The software is really advanced and allows a lot of freedom.

Cons

Can be hard for beginners, has a steep learning-curve. 2D with Grease Pencil could be improved and developed further, Video Editing as well. Although they aren't part of the core functionality, they are helpful and nice to have indeed, but it is important to note the strengths of this program are its 3D features.

### "Powerful open source 3-D graphics software and editor that rivals commercially available tools"

August 31, 2018

4.0

Overall, Blender is a very powerful tool, that can be used for video editing. However, because it is designed to be a 3-D graphics tool which also has video capabilities, it is not the easiest tool to use. I continue to remain intrigued by Blender and in a year or two will revisit it's video editing workflow.

Pros

Blender is used by professionals around the world. Because it is open source and has such wide usage and effort behind its development, it is very unlikely that Blender will ever fade away. Using Blender for your projects ensures long-term access to your files and you'll accumulate skills that will be useful well into the future. I used Blender only for video editing so I cannot comment on its other features. Strong video editing capabilities - it is relatively easy to import footage and to make basic cuts, move footage, and add basic fades and transitions. To simplify the import of video clips, install the Kinoraw Tools addon. It offers a good way to import media clips through the file browser. The Kinoraw tool will allow you to import all files in the browser, or This plugin adds features that allow the user to select large numbers of small clips and snap the selection to a designated clip. It also allows selection by type of clip so its easy to grab all of the sound clips to export to an audio editor. The plugin also includes an "inverse" selector to select everything except the currently selected clip. The Kinoraw tool also includes a convenient fade-in fade-out tool accessible in the Strip menu option

Cons

After reading and watching many tutorials on using Blender for video editing, I hoped to rely on Blender exclusively for video creation. While Blender indeed offers powerful video editing features, the average person will not find it easy to use. Blender cannot automatically detect resolution and frame rates so if you have video from different cameras and wish to edit these different resolutions files in the timeline in Blender, you will encounter numerous problems. Software should be able to detect these various settings automatically and make necessary adjustments or at the very least, warn the user that the clips are incompatible and guide the user through various fixes. There were too many other problems with trying to edit a 2 hour film and I eventually gave up and moved to the open-source video editor Kdenlive. Regardless of my experience, many users in fact rely on Blender for video editing and enjoy the process. Maybe you will find it to be the best tool for you.

### "Opinion from Blender use who has 5 years of experience "

November 22, 2019

5.0

I have been working in blender for over 5 years, i am an interior designer and blender gave everything i wanted in this field : Redering, modeling, lighting, materials.... Blender has everything for me to work on a big projects. I started working in blender and i think ill never change it, maybe i will add some but i will never change blender to other 3D software.

Pros

Blender is Open-source software which is Free which is very important thing if you compare it to other softwares. Blender can give you same result as paid softwares. In this program you can make a lot of things, you can : Paint, 3D models, Sculpting, Video editing, Rendering, Animation and many more things. Blender has it's own Rendering engine so you don't have to buy it and trust me it's very good even if it's free. Development team is putting their heart in this product and you can see it in their daily builds, it gets better and better. Community is amazing, you can find many groups, forums and websites dedicated to blender and blender users, there are alot of plugins and models too. you also can use models from other softwares by simply importing FBX or OBJ file format in blender scene.

Cons

It's not an industry standard and ill try to explain why.... Blender is new program and lately it got better that's why many people don't use it, they think that it's a free program and they don't look at it seriously, also many big companies already have stuff which work on Maya or 3Ds max and they don't want to get a new team member who works in blender, because big companies make big projects, every team member is making his part in this project and if one of the team member uses different program, he/she could not use others assets, materials, lighting and many other stuff.... to cut a long story short, Blender is not industry standard because many people don't use it and they still use 3Ds max, maya or any other software.

### "A Powerful Tool for Creating Professional-Quality Visuals"

April 9, 2023

5.0

Blender is an incredibly powerful open source 3D creation software suite that has been a favorite of digital art and animation professionals for many years. It offers a wide range of features, from modeling to sculpting, to rendering, compositing and more. It's easy to learn yet endlessly customizable, allowing users to create anything from basic shapes and characters to detailed scenes and animations with ease. When it comes to the interface of Blender, you'll find it highly user-friendly with lots of helpful tutorials available online (including some in-depth ones through the official website). This makes getting started relatively straightforward even if you don't have any prior experience with similar programs. The UI also includes several options for customizing menus or shortcuts which lets users make their workspace their own. With these customizable aspects combined together with its modern look & feel Blender can be quite enjoyable as your work away at whatever project you are working on! For those who intend to use Blender in animation projects they will find plenty of tools available such as curves editor, dope sheet/action editor/nonlinear editing system, armature modifier & inverse kinematics systems

Pros

1\. Blender is a powerful and 3D animation software package, with professional-level features such as modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering tools that can help create stunning visuals for video games, movies and more. 2. The program's user interface has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use for beginners while still providing the necessary level of control needed by professionals in their workflows. 3. With its non-destructive workflow philosophy you won’t need to worry about ruining your project - everything can be changed at any time without adversely affecting or losing earlier steps or data points along the way. 4. Its integration with other open source tools like Cycles makes it possible to develop complex projects using multiple applications all within one unified environment – saving time on development cycles while ensuring the highest quality results every time. 5. Additionally its GPU render engine allows users to take advantage of massive computing power available today - resulting in faster renders than ever before achieved with traditional CPU based methods alone!"

Cons

It has an extensive array of tools and features to help you create complex 3D objects quickly and easily. •It supports a wide range of file formats including OBJ, FBX, STP, STL etc., making it easy to edit existing files or import them into other programs like Maya or Cinema 4D

### "blender the best 3d creation software"

February 15, 2023

4.0

Pros

Blender is a very versatile and free 3D software that I particularly like. It offers many advantages, including a customizable user interface and a large community of users who share tutorials and resources online. The software allows for modeling, animation, rendering and special effects for projects of various sizes and styles. The animation tools are particularly powerful and allow you to create complex animations with relative ease. In addition, Blender is available for Windows, Mac and Linux, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Cons

I find the learning curve for Blender to be quite steep, especially for beginners in 3D, as the software is quite complex and offers many features. Also, the rendering process can be quite time consuming, especially when working with complex scenes or with advanced textures and lighting. Finally, it is not as widely used in the industry as some other 3D software, which can be a disadvantage if you want to work with clients or studios that use different software.

### "Blender is pretty much my go-to software when it comes to creating 3D projects, 2D Art, Modeling, an"

October 26, 2022

5.0

Ever wondered what a graphic designer does? It's like creating a magic trick. I used to design things for a living and for the past 10 years I've seen a bunch of changes in the industry. Software has come and gone, and I've been around for all the good ones. At the start of my career, I wasn't making enough money to justify investing in software, so I picked up a copy of Blender and I was really happy with it.

Pros

If you're looking for an easier to use, and constantly improving 3D modeling software for free, Blender is the one for you. I know this, because I just tried it out, and all I can say is I'm impressed! With so many free software options out there, I can't imagine why anyone would use Blender over others! From its high quality, to the constant improvements and updates, Blender has me hooked. I never struggle with the software. The community is the best, and I love that it is always trying to stay ahead of the game. Keep up the good work, Blender devs!

Cons

It is tough to embrace the way it works, so it takes a long time to get used to and learn to work in it. The latest versions go to improve this by making the intuitive and logical interface better and better. It is very power hungry and drains my laptop battery very fast. It is not optimized for portable devices. Should be run on desktop computers only as it heats up the system.

### "Blender: 3D Modeling and Animation Resource"

June 29, 2020

5.0

I am an avid user of Blender. I have utilized this program to create 3D animations for clients and to craft animated characters for game design projects. Since 2013 I have used this program for all of my 3D modeling needs.

Pros

Blender is a program with a library of tools to engage in several fields of 3D modeling. It allows users to create basic models from scratch utilizing vertices, faces and edges. If users want to start with a foundation they can use existing shapes such as cubes, spheres and cylinders. Each shape is malleable allowing for the adjustment of vertex count, edge count and dimensions and orientation. Users can also create 3D animations. Through versatile tools users can create simple motions or complex cinematic moments that feature fully rigged humanoid characters. Additionally Blender allows users to manipulate the topology of their models. Through the use of various brushes available, users can generate textures and add additional form and shape to their models. Blender can generate file formats compatible with other programs including .OBJ and .FBX.

Cons

The interface is difficult at the beginning to navigate. Blender however relies on several hot keys so it becomes easier to use with a few key strokes. The program is easily customizable and their are several tutorials available to assist in learning. An additional issue I encountered was that textures sometimes did not appear on my project. I was able to fix this issue by reverting back to an old save.

### "Blender the future of advanced 2d Animation"

March 3, 2020

5.0

Nothing but love and great admiration for this software and the people behind making it possible. I started in ads trying to make some money and build a reputation in animation, working in Congo/africa it was nearly impossible to afford professional softwares like autodesk Maya and 3ds Max , but blender made it possible to do professional modeling, rigging and animation for free and it changed a lot of things for me. Without blender i don't think i would have made it this far ; understanding 3d as an autodidact opened so many universes of my imagination and compagnies' doors too. Now am a Art director, director and consultant animator and work for more than 12 companies at the same time, going from one city to another almost every week...all thanks to Blender. i don't even have time to make demoreels anymore 😊😊😊

Pros

Wow, how can i say it! This software is Splendiferous! Am a user of blender since i first stumbled on 3d animation and that's about 9 or 10 years from now. blender is free and has everything built in. throughout the years the software keeps pushing boundaries and making improvements in all types of industries: Game, animation, movie or Vfx. The improvement of Grease Pencil Object, my favorite tool, allows you to draw in the 3D space so you can create advanced 2D animation into a 3D software. it can be used to make traditional 2D animation, motion graphics , cut-out animation and even as storyboard tool. And that's just one tool; the renderer is amazing too, the view port is smoother and faster in the latest's versions, i could go on and on but the best way to experience blender's features is if you give it a try.

Cons

I think Blender grows every month so i wouldn't put any cons, besides it is open GL and completely designed based on users needs, so no cons for me.

### "Gone has the ugly duckling!"

June 22, 2020

5.0

I switched to Blender from 3D Studio Max about 8 years ago. At that time I was working with clients that had been using Blender to produce their models & really wanted to give it a fair shot. Back then the UX was a lot more difficult to get used to but once I did I found it hard to switch back. The abilities of the cycles engine also impressed me a lot & I made it a permanent switch. Fast forward to today and Blender has massively been transformed. Whilst the likes of Autodesk Maya often get touted as being an industry standard Blender has often suffered a bad reputation for some of the work that has been produced by the more amateur users. I've always thought this was extremely unfair and a deeper search soon revealed to me the capabilities that Blender has always had. With no entry fee for starting with Blender there was always going to be a much larger pool of work produced in Blender that wouldn't be quite as impressive. I followed the 2.8 update from the early alphas and to release saw the momentum that was building behind it. This wasnt just a minor release, it was a massive milestone. For new users the interface is now much more friendly and offers a nice middle ground to those transferring skillsets from similar 3D Suites (3DS Max, Autodesk Maya, ZBrush), realtime rendering is a gamechanger & the community around Blender has only grown stronger with many top artists now using it for their work daily.

Pros

Extremely powerful 3D suite, perfect customization for viewport displays, excellent sculpting abilities, realtime rendering with eevee, massively improved interface, plenty of plugins.

Cons

I still feel that the rigging & animation options are a little limited without plugins. I would like to see an update focusing on this with further content from the developers on how best to use them. Little in this area is covered by the community.

### "For all your 3D Animations Needs, Plus its Free!"

May 17, 2020

5.0

For a professional free software for 3D designing that has all the features you can possibly need, Blender is the only option. No other product comes close.

Pros

Okay, so if you are into graphics design, you must have heard of Blender already. - Its completely free, open source. Who doesn't love that? - Its professionally made will all options that you can find in all other software. - The software is lighter than other similar offerings, so can be used on a wide range of machines. - There is a portable version that works perfectly. - Import and Export options are compatible with other 3D and 2D software. - High quality texture and materials support. - The Cycles engine was an upgrade and the Eevee engine is a god give gift. Its perfect,

Cons

\- It has a steep learning curve. It is difficult to learn for beginners. Cinema 4D and Maya were easier to learn. - The interface may get confuse as it has a lot of options. - The old Blender Engine is slow and inefficient. - The shortcut keys are very different than other software. Prepare to re learn and make mistakes. - The export options can be better. - GPU+CPU rendering has along way to go to become perfect.

### "One of the best free 3D modeling softwares in the world today"

September 29, 2018

5.0

This is the 3D modeling program I use. I use it with a texturing software and a rendering software and sell my 3D models I make with it. It has helped me grow my business of making 3D props for game developers.

Pros

The thing I like most if the ease of use after fully understanding what everything does. It looks intimidating and complicated if you're a new user of blender, but after looking at a few tutorials of what you want to do in it, whether it be animation, character modeling, prop modeling, whatever it may be, it becomes easier to do and to understand. You do have to learn a little bit on your own, but as far as I have been using it, since 2015, I haven't ran into anything I can't do without a little bit of googling.

Cons

The thing I liked least about this software when starting out was, as I said in the pros, it is intimidating to look at when being a new user of the software. It stressed me out when I didn't know where to begin, however, this was easy to get over with some googling and a little bit of tutorials that didn't cost me a lot of time, for a big payout after I learned the software.
