It's a great way to get started as the cost is free. Pros Blender is comparible to some of the best paid softwares out there, for my uses which is mainly motion graphics and visual effects, I can't believe what it comes with in terms of tools. Blender is definitely an industry standard, they used this free program for Captain America: Winter Solider so at least you know you're not just using some spit and glue program. It is a full fledged 3D modeling solution. Cons As with every program there is a learning curve and where some of the bigger company's with the expensive price tags can afford to invest in the best of the best UI improvements and plugins, Blender always felt less use friendly in some regards. We edited videos, make simulations, modeling, textured, and more. Cons Menus are terrible. Working is really hard! Rally loved it. Pros Blender is a free software and can perform incredible functions. The functionalities of blender includes 3D modelling, texturing, rendering, UV unwrapping, sculpting, fluid simulation, smoke simulation, particle simulation and may more to go. Using these functionalities one can make interactive 3D applications and develop video games. The system has keyboard shortcut for all the functions which saves time. The biggest advantage of this software is it has addons which makes the software modular. Cons Blender has many features and it takes long time to learn and understand those features. It takes time to learn and become a quick user otherwise you have to memorize multiple functionalities. The toolbars and other layouts can be customized according to user. The new user may not have idea and cam make them uncomfortable. Plus, the few tutorials I've gotten through turn out beautifully once all the steps have implemented properly... something I constantly work on. As Blender is free, it really can't be beat. Cons Whether you have begun 3D modeling and design using Blender, or have simply looked into the program, more than likely, you are familiar with the steep learning curve of Blender. Even after watching tutorials online, I still have to continually re-watch and often review these "how-to's" to be able to tackle my first few projects. I love the fact that it is free but still extremely powerful. Pros It is an extremely powerful software that supports all your 3D needs. Be it 3D modelling, animation or game development, Blender has all the tools you need. Most importantly, all this comes for free, making it sound like a dream come true. The software used to have a cluttered UI that was very hard for newcomers to get used to but with new updates the developers have made the UI more user friendly. There is also a ton of resources within the community to help you learn and master the software for your needs. Cons Honestly, I have nothing to complain about Blender. Pros Blender is just as good as the other paid 3D software programs and doesn't require any license to use it. The files size for blender is just only a couple of megabytes so it doesn't take up much space or use much resources to run it. Cons The entire time using it I personally haven't really had any problems using blender before, besides the very few times it crashed. Not only that, but it's upcoming real-time EEVEE engine is also worth the wait. Cons It can actually be pretty difficult to get into at first, and a lot of tools and features missing -- however that's not much of a concern since all that is slowly being amended in the upcoming 2.8 release. Pros The latest big update (2.8) brought many changes that improved the user experience, starting with the UI, everything is more targetting a big software like other 3d solutions, which make it feel more professional and more powerful (although it was already professional or powerful, it was hard to master).
