### "Using Blender as a freelancer and a Student"

June 12, 2025

5.0

I use it Daily and so far to be honest, i have 0 complaints. For a student to be able to use such a software without having to spend any money is a blessing.

Pros

The most important thing is that it is completely free, compared to the other main 3d softwares. The Ui is user friendly. Beginners can use it almost immediately. There is a big blender community, which is good for people that are trying to learn it, looking for help. There is thousands of tutorials on youtube for it. You can do with blender anything you can do on the other softwares.

Cons

For the most part, my experience with blender is great but The simulation's system can be improved more, and the texturing and uv tools could be much better.

### "Ein Open-source Industriestandard"

November 26, 2024

5.0

### "Useful & Available"

May 18, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Blender is a good one. The amount of functionality over value I get compared to competitors is unmatched.

Pros

What I like most about Blender is it's availability across platforms. Wether I'm using a Windows PC, or a Linux distro, I know I can use it in either or.

Cons

What I liked least about Blender is that the software can be a somewhat heavy on my system at times.

### "l'universo completo della modellazione 3d"

March 5, 2025

### "Blender is the entry point to 3d art"

October 28, 2024

4.0

My experience has been incredible. Everything I know now about 3d art, I first learned through blender use. I learned with their animation tools, modeling tools, texturing tools, and rendering tools.

Pros

I love that blender is free, open source, and the entrance place for a lot of artists. It lends to such an open and fresh creative community of new developers and 3d artists. Blender is also an extremely performant renderer.

Cons

I think blenders animation tools could use work. They don't really match up to the industry standard like some of their other tools.

### "Why Blender3D is a good 3D software for any beginner"

December 20, 2024

5.0

Been using blender for almost 900h, I'll say its a good 3D software WHICH BY THE WAY is free, get constantly update with new things, has a large community which are more then willing to help you and you can download it from steam too. This might be specific but I like to keep a track of "just how much have I used a software"

Pros

The thing I like the most about Blender3D is the community, if you are stuck at something there will always be a guy who has the same problem as you and will have a solution for it.

Cons

Simulations are hard to run, thats the only con, which can be overcome with proxies

Very good - easy to use, even for a beginner getting to grips with the software.

Pros

Free and lots of good Youtube tutorial videos to flow and get familiar with creating work in it.

Cons

Not sure if it was the software or limitations with my PC, but even with an 4GB dedicated Nvidia graphics card, it was a little slow at times once adding layering to the 3D models.

### "Blender: un programma perfetto per l’edit!"

January 21, 2023

5.0

Reason for choosing Blender

### "Blender - Powerful Teaching Tool to inspire 3d modelers and crafters."

October 17, 2023

4.0

The primary advantage Blender has for our use here at the library is the cost savings of using open source. There are no licensing fees and the students are free to install copies of blender on their own computers and laptops. This is a huge benefit to the open source nature of Blender. If we get additional students in our STEAM classes we don't have to worry about how many seats we have available. While we do have a limit on the number of available laptops to use in the class this can be expanded by some students bringing their own laptops. The excitement that students show when they render their first simple scenes and again when they render their first animations is incredible. I have been teaching blender in a classroom environment for nearly two decades now and love to hear former students share how they have continued to use blender in their work or their hobbies.

Pros

I teach STEAM workshops for 3rd -12th grade students at our local library. Blender provides a great platform to introduce 3d modeling. As open source software there are no budget crippling licensing fees and not even my advanced students are going to push the limits of Blender. We are able to explore 3d modeling, animation and key framing to develop fun realistic photos and movies. In addition the students are exposed to 3d printing to see their work enter into the real world. Blender captures the imaginations of students, whether they are more technically inclined or artistic. I recommend blender to any STEAM instructors.

Cons

Blender has a reputation as being difficult to use. I have been using it since shortly after it was open sourced. My experience in 3d up until then came from using Caligari's Truespace, which was probably the most intuitive 3d program on the market at that time. Blender definitely had a steep learning curve. Today much of that initial learning curve has been simplified tremendously with an improved gui, hotkey choices and listening to users. That said, students can still be overwhelmed by Blender's complexity unless carefully guided through their initial exposure. I don't see this as a flaw of Blender, but rather a result of the power that it has.

Reason for choosing Blender

As mentioned above, the capabilities of blender when added to it's free licensing made it the perfect 3d modeling software for STEAM workshops at the library.

### "Blender: 3D and beyond"

September 13, 2023

5.0

Been using this software for nearly 8+ years, and it's been incredible update after update. In my experience, the features are so endless that the learning experience is always rewarding in it's rediscoverability. Many things can be achieved, and they can be done usually in different approaches. You are not tied to only one way of doing things. From what I see, updates are always being released and the development for this program is steady.

Pros

All kinds of tools, from sculpting to texturing, to video editing, to 2D animation, to modeling. Blender has them all! It supports add-ons and Python scripting. It has a great rendering engine for Path-Tracing, Cycles, and another one called EEVEE for real-time 3D visualization. The software is really advanced and allows a lot of freedom.

Cons

Can be hard for beginners, has a steep learning-curve. 2D with Grease Pencil could be improved and developed further, Video Editing as well. Although they aren't part of the core functionality, they are helpful and nice to have indeed, but it is important to note the strengths of this program are its 3D features.

### "It can be very hard to learn"

October 24, 2023

4.0

Blender is good for advanced motion graphic design. It's free and easily accessible.

Pros

Software surf is a progressive search and I have done a lot of testing and trying hoping to fall on a perfect fit. I've tried Blender for a few months and got to discover some of its coolest features.-Blender is open-source and free for almost anyone with a good PC to use. This makes it attractive because users with no budget get to work with it too.- It's cross-platform compatible: It works on popular operating systems like macOS, Windows, and Linux- providing users with extra flexibility as they can work with their preferred operating systems.- It also provides a comprehensive feature set for modeling, sculpting, animation, rendering, compositing, and video editing, making it a versatile all-in-one solution for designers.- There are regular updates and new features are constantly introduced or improved in the software which can be essential for renovating user experience.- There is great support from the community like tutorials and resources that's why I rated it excellent.

Cons

Here are some of the major reasons why I switched from using Blender:- Its interface is non-standard: It has a completely different user interface that can be very difficult to master. Features are too nested and this can be overwhelming as you'll have to go through multiple features to use a specific one.- It's less supported in the market: It's true Blender is quite popular and perhaps, grows at a steady rate, however, it's still deferred in terms of widespread in the market as a lot of professionals tend to prefer other tools like Maya, After Effects or Cinema 4D. A potential reason is that these are hard to learn and are easily adaptable.

Cons

### "Blender : logiciel 3D polyvalent."

February 25, 2023

4.0

### "Opinion from Blender use who has 5 years of experience "

November 22, 2019

5.0

I have been working in blender for over 5 years, i am an interior designer and blender gave everything i wanted in this field : Redering, modeling, lighting, materials.... Blender has everything for me to work on a big projects. I started working in blender and i think ill never change it, maybe i will add some but i will never change blender to other 3D software.

Pros

Blender is Open-source software which is Free which is very important thing if you compare it to other softwares. Blender can give you same result as paid softwares. In this program you can make a lot of things, you can : Paint, 3D models, Sculpting, Video editing, Rendering, Animation and many more things. Blender has it's own Rendering engine so you don't have to buy it and trust me it's very good even if it's free. Development team is putting their heart in this product and you can see it in their daily builds, it gets better and better. Community is amazing, you can find many groups, forums and websites dedicated to blender and blender users, there are alot of plugins and models too. you also can use models from other softwares by simply importing FBX or OBJ file format in blender scene.

Cons

It's not an industry standard and ill try to explain why.... Blender is new program and lately it got better that's why many people don't use it, they think that it's a free program and they don't look at it seriously, also many big companies already have stuff which work on Maya or 3Ds max and they don't want to get a new team member who works in blender, because big companies make big projects, every team member is making his part in this project and if one of the team member uses different program, he/she could not use others assets, materials, lighting and many other stuff.... to cut a long story short, Blender is not industry standard because many people don't use it and they still use 3Ds max, maya or any other software.

### "Animation and modeling for beginners up to professionals"

September 15, 2022

5.0

We are constructing models for games, websites, desktop applications and animations. Once you get the philosophy that goes with the software it integrates nicely into the pipeline and is very easy to use and get results. Having support from some 3D rendering farms on the cloud generates a resource and costs optimization in our production pipeline.

Pros

The community is the best part of this software. There is always someone you can ask, and they are all willing to give a hand or a pointer in the right direction. There is also plenty of materials for almost every possible topic. It has become a fundamental piece of software that many artists use for their daily work and there is always a new plugin that will add more tooling to your creative process. And you can always create, modify or better any thing that you have in mind as it is open source, but it also has API access to almost every functionality.

Cons

I believe that the community has been constructing a great piece of software and has eliminated any thing I could have had against it.

### "Blender IS the New Standard"

March 4, 2022

4.0

Learning and using blender over the past several years has really been a game changer for me. In-Engine modeling tools cut it for quick blockouts, but further than that it's important to use a software that has dedicated tools and interface for 3D modeling. Blender is the obvious option in 2022 and going forward do to the sheer amount of documentation, the fantastic community, the available tools, and how quickly new features and improvements are able to be made onto the platform. Although AAA studios are slow to adopt Blender into their pipelines, it is crucial for new studios, rather indie, AA, or AAA to adopt Blender into their pipelines over similar software.

Pros

One of the major benefits of the software being open source is the quick and relatively easy ability for community members to create custom plugins and addons. This functionality allows the developers at the Blender Foundation to focus more on core features rather than specific edge use cases (however common) that are more easily resolved and tested by the Blender community instead. Ultimately this means MUCH faster development and improved tools than any other 3D software can do. In the last 3-4 years I have used Blender I have seen it come from a rather mundane and average 3D software to easily outpacing some of the 3D giants in many respects. Very few instances does using another 3D software make sense over Blender.

Cons

There are still some performance issues with sculpting that I'd love to see improvements in the future. For instance, I have an i7 4790 CPU, 24 gigs of DDR3 RAM, a 4 TB SSD, and a GTX 1070 8gbs VRAM GPU and more than 3-5 million triangles in sculpting mode either slows my computer down to a crawl OR crashes blender outright. However, using a software like Zbrush I can easily sculpt at 20-30 million triangles before I have any sort of lag or crash. That performance difference is quite major and is one of the only places where I prefer to use another software.

Alternatives considered

[3ds Max](https://www.capterra.com/p/206897/3ds-Max/)[Zbrush](https://www.capterra.com/p/210456/Zbrush/)[Maya](https://www.capterra.com/p/150804/Maya/)

Reason for choosing Blender

Blender has the most active community, resources, and fastest development time which makes it an incredibly easy software to pick up and learn as well as utilize cutting edge features and technologies.
