It is compatible with Linux, Windows, Mac OS X,, Solaris, IRIX and FreeBSD. It uses very little space on the disk. It loads incredibly fast It has an internal Games engine. It has a built-in composer of texture images and post production. Cons It does not use all computer processors by default. It does not work correctly with polygons with more than 4 sides. These are the exact reasons that made me go with Blender. Leaving this aside, my experience as a user is this: Not necessarily the simplest software to use but it sure is getting its job done and that is what we need in the end. Cons I find the interface to be way too overwhelming, that is the first impression that is causing some people to be scared of ending in not using it. Once you get past that overwhelming feeling and start to get familiarize with it, there aren't that many things not to like about Blender. It's a fantastic product that I would highly recommend. Pros Blender has all of the functionality of what a Triple-A animation company might used packed into a free and open source engine. The amount of features packed into it is astounding, and yet is somehow still on par with expensive software that costs hundreds of dollars. Texturing, rendering, sculpting... it's an all in one program. It's open-source nature allows the user to add a ton of addons and modifications, allowing anyone to customize Blender to their liking. Cons Blender has an overwhelming user interface, and it takes a long time to get used to. Once you do, however, there isn't much left that constitutes as a 'con'. Any other issues can be modified and changed to fit the users needs. It also requires a bit of processing power to render complex animations, but that problem is more on a case-by-base basis, depending on the users hardware.
