Pros

Cons

Le programme est littéralement un sans faute...

### "Amazing, free and powerful! "

September 26, 2018

With Blender I explored the world of 3D animation that I always wanted to. You do not need to be an expert to get a grasp on it, there is plenty material online to learn the basics and improve from there. I have already tried other applications and I can tell that Blender is a great option to start in this field.

Pros

Blender is very versatile software, that can be used for animation, video editing/filmmaking, videogames development and 3D modeling in general. It is capable of something soft and cute as Toy Story, but also able to do something sleek as a CGI realistic Hollywood scene such as the ones seen in Deadpool. Is as poweful as the competing alternatives and completely open source, does not require a high-spec machine to work with proper stability (Although this might vary depending on the size of the files you are working with). There are many free resources available such as tutorials, pre-made models and plugins that enhance the learning experience. Even though it is full of complexities, the user interface is very user-friendly.

Cons

Even though Blender is able to achieve industry standards results, these outcomes require an extra effort compared to other alternatives, other applications are able to accomplish smoothness in an almost automated way thanks to some filtering tools that Blender lacks, this has highly improved in the latest versions, but is still not as efficient as I would like. Blender’s Community is amazing, but they lack a proper Customer Support alternative that some competing products might have. (This is a very common issue with Open Source softwares).

### "My Introduction to 3D"

February 9, 2022

Blender fills the roles of every stage of the 3D workflow perfectly. I could start a project in Blender and end it in Blender without the need for other software inbetween.

Pros

Blender boasts the best 3D creation interface I have ever used. It has documentation built into the software that shows what every key does when you hover over it. Blender's recent updates have brought its rendering speeds up to par with other industry giants. Blender provides different workspaces for each task users might want to run from VFX to animation. Lastly, Blender fills the roles of every stage of the 3D creation workflow.

Cons

It's a shame that the blender foundation had to terminate the Blender Game Engine.

### "Excellent & Fosters Creativity."

March 11, 2019

5.0

Overall, Blender has been fantastic, and I will continue to use Blender over any other animation software.

Pros

I used Blender (and still do) while I was attending University, where I studied a double Bachelor's in Cinema Production and Animation. I was curious about Blender one day and downloaded it onto my desktop, and have never regretted it since. Blender has a fantastic interface, and it was incredible being able to see my animations come to life and being able to quickly download them onto my PC. Blender is one of the "easier" animation platforms, as it was easier for me to learn how to navigate Blender, but it most certainly does not lack any of the necessary tools that it takes to create realistic animations.

Cons

The only con I have is more so advice to potential users; Blender is a high-tech animation software, and by this I mean you will need a faster computer in order to get the absolute most out of Blender--only because it will take quite the bit for your finished animation to download completely so you can view it in action. Other than this piece of advice, Blender is an amazing platform for animators and those who are interested in getting their foot into the world of animation.

### "Long time blender user"

February 27, 2019

4.0

I was first introduced to blender in college much to my dismay after having spent so much time on a different software but quickly learned to love the program and its versatility, and now 6 years later I'm still using it in my career as an animator, I would definitely suggest the program to anyone interested in animation, modelling, special effects or even just motion tracking on video.

Pros

Blender is HEAVILY customizable with python script and plugins, the application is free to download and use which firstly is a plus in itself but it also means there are Plenty of tutorials and examples of peoples creativity online. With Blender 2.80 Eevee currently being actively developed the software is just getting better and better with real-time rendering so you can see your changes live.

Cons

Being so heavily customizable and being able to run so many different scripts it may be challenging to troubleshoot any conflicts

### "Blender is for your 3D modeling and video editing. "

October 18, 2021

5.0

I use Blender for my teaching. My students love using Blender since it is very simple and easy to use. However, as mentioned, Blender crashes very often. Therefore, I always ask my students to save their Blender projects very often.

Pros

Blender helps you model 3D objects with all basic functions, i.e., translation, rotation, scaling. You can easily put textures and animations onto the 3D models. Blender also supports animation mode where you are able set up each animation frame and preview what your animation looks like. This is very helpful for your video editing. Blender also gives you the Scripting mode where you can code with Python to handle your 3D objects.

Cons

Blender has so many versions. This causes a lot of issues when you save and load your .blend files with different Blender versions. Blender sometimes freezes and unexpectedly shuts down. Therefore, make sure that you save your Blender project more often.

### "Expansive Functionality, Great Interface, and FREE"

September 5, 2019

5.0

Working with Blender has been amazing. As part of in an in-house design team, I wanted a way to innovate and learn something new, so I started small with things that could be worked into our advertising like rolling dice, a spinning football, bowling ball/pins collisions, and scale models to learn the system. Later, we purchased pre-made car models and then textured, customized, and animated them to advertise specific vehicle giveaways. It's really wonderful to have a program you can build and expand upon independently without formal training or a huge initial investment.

Pros

As a graphic designer who dabbles in 3D, I much prefer the interface of Blender compared with Maya or Cinema 4D. Navigation is intuitive, and while the learning curve is naturally steep for any program of this caliber, the shortcut system made a lot of sense to me from the beginning. I also really loved using nodes in Cycles render to change the texture and lighting of various objects. Really lovely, subtle results.

Cons

Sometimes it was tricky to know exactly how big something was, or how things were attached, but I would chalk that up to user error, similar to being an amateur in Photoshop and just not knowing where to look for a function or how to organize your layers logically.

Reason for choosing Blender

Our design team is a small in-house operation, and we don't do enough 3D specific work to justify the expense of Maya. I'd played with the pared-down version of Cinema4D in AfterEffects for a few projects, but it just didn't have the features I wanted for professional, modern-looking work. Blender was the perfect solution to selectively add a lot of dynamic interest to big events and promotions.

### "Blender, Perfect for beginners, Home to pros"

January 31, 2023

I managed to learn blender in a very short time and I am aware that many possibilities the software offers are still unknown to me but I am looking forward to learning them.I think it is the simplest, most effective and cheapest solution that studios can think of adopting

Pros

I think the main reason why first-time users interface with blender is the fact that it is a free service, surely its biggest pro.I think the cost and the fact that it is so intuitive to understand make it the best 3D software available at the moment.

Cons

the main cons are the fact that it sometimes struggles to handle complex scenes and gets stuck and the fact that there are sometimes display errors

### "Blender is one of the best open-source software packages available"

October 4, 2022

4.0

I've been using Blender for over 10 years now, and it's been quite an adventure. In recent years Blender has quickly gone from being seen as a tool used by amateurs to a fully fledged 3D app. Companies like AMD, Google, and Apple have been contributing large amounts of funding and code to Blender, and it's starting to see use in many production environments. Blender truly makes high quality 3D available to all.

Pros

Blender is free and open source; Recently it has seen a lot more funding and has quickly gained popularity and seen increased use in production environments. Blender is very powerful and tries to be a bit of a swiss army knife. Though it may not be the best at anything, as a jack-of-all-trades it can do a lot. Blender makes 3D accessible to anyone.

Cons

Blender can have a bit of a steep learning curve for new users, and is lacking in some areas or functionality.

### "Best tool for a 3D developer."

September 12, 2021

It is completely the best perfect tool if you want to learn 3D. It takes time for one to learn but once to understand how to use it you will never for any other software used to develop 3D models.

Pros

First is its freeness, this software is a free and open source software thus it doesn't restrict you from using it if you have no money. Another thing I like is that it does not only creation of animations but also one can create games using this software. Navigating through its interface is easy with its various features. This software supports various graphic formats compared to related alternatives. Lastly is its versatility, adapting these software is easy and it can easily be changed to develop 2D also.

Cons

Learning curve is really deep but one you understand how to use that software, you would not have any need of these other software's. This really consumes a lot of time since you'll have to look for supporting documents for for you to fully understand the workings of this software, otherwise it is so far the best software I have ever used for 3D modelling.

### "Blender - Blending Open Source and Functionality"

October 21, 2019

5.0

I use Blender on a daily basis to design 3D models of objects found in historical dig sites. I also use Blender to tweak the designs of others from many of the popular online modeling communities.

Pros

Blender is free. It's open-source and has an active developing community that works hard to keep the software as up-to-date as possible with today's fast pace. I primarily use Blender to design 3D models for later printing and the built-in tools for model design work wonderfully.

Cons

If you're looking to create 3d movies, be prepared for work. The open-source nature of the software is also a downfall if you're looking to create fully immersive 3d worlds. Plugins and scripts are required for more expansive work, and finding the right plugin is a hassle in itself.

### "Most user friendly 3d software "

October 20, 2020

5.0

I used to use a well known expensive 3d software, well in the begining, I was a bit double minded whether I shall spend my time exploring Blender, will it be able to handle all my needs as it is an open source software, how will an open-source software compete a paid software blah blah. But all my doubts vanished after using Blender for couple of weeks. I quick made my mind to switch to this heaven. It is really very user friendly, uses less system resources, so may tutorials are available on YouTube to get started with it.

Pros

The most amazing thing regarding this software is that it is open-source, had nothing to pay to get this wonderful software and top of all, it's really very easy to understand and use unlike other animation softwares.

Cons

Well honestly speaking, I haven't found any cos about this software yet. I used to use couple of other softwares in the past, was paying heavy amount of money to get them run, but then I switched to Blender 9 months ago and really regret why I did not use it since the begining. :)

### "Best program to learn 3D animation for"

September 13, 2018

5.0

I used Blender to teach students animation and it was honestly the best experience. Its so easy to learn that students from the age as early as 7 were able to learn and thrive.

Pros

Blender is amazing. Its so well designed and has a lot of features and versatility. It literally can do everything and is super amazing to learn 3D on. Its easy to use and helps break down 3D animation into separate parts to make learning easy and fun.

Cons

It has TOO much freedom. Blender can do anything and is open source, which means every month there is a spew of new features you will never use and not care about. Its a multitool, I think it succeeds best in its animation, being up there with even Maya in terms of usability, but it just falls short on all its other features.

Pros

### "Blender - The free, open source 3D modeling program that you'll keep on learning"

August 25, 2021

5.0

My experience with Blender has been great. At first, it was intimidating since there are so many features. However, after I continued to use it, I am continuing to learn more and more about the program. It's legitimately something that I look forward to using on a daily basis. Plus - it's free!

Pros

What I like the most about Blender is how versatile it is. It can accomplish so many different things and can be used for a variety of purposes. It can be used to create 3D models, animations, simulations, and so much more.

Cons

The thing that I like the least about Blender is the learning curve. However, I believe that a learning curve is to be expected whenever a software like Blender is involved. It has a ton of features and a ton of different things that you can do with it, which can seem overwhelming. But, after you continue to learn more and more via online tutorials, courses, etc, this is hardly a "con".

### "A powerful tool, but hard to master"

August 28, 2019

5.0

I'm not a 3D artist but sometimes I resort to Blender in order to visualize my personal projects to sort them out in my mind. A few taps on the keyboard are usually enough to have a shape on screen, ready to be adapted to the situation. A simple 3d representation of what I need can be made in a matter of minutes. Then, you can always take it a bit further with proper rendering, applying materials and so on.

Pros

The interface is extremely customizable: you can manually hide, show, duplicate or resize any of the screens you want, in order to fit your needs at any time. There is a handsome amount of functionalities and features, and all of them can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts - from basic shape editing to applying new properties and effects, which can all be previewed in real time. The community has plenty of guides and tutorials to offer, to answer to each question a novice could have. The developing team seems to be working constantly on Blender, with updates to address every issue the community has. Finally, it's completely free, which makes Blender the best software in its category.

Cons

The amount of shortcuts and the overall interface can be a bit problematic for first time users, or uses who come from other 3D design tools. Some functionalities seem to be harder to tweak to the user's needs.

### "Production quality rendering and modeling for free."

December 29, 2020

5.0

Blender works well for me building 3d models for using in Unity game development. Plugins are available with support direct export from Blender to Unity, handling model conversion and scaling for you. Extensions are simple to install and greatly expand the functionality of the software. I have worked with various 3D modeling software since the early 90's. This is hands-down the best free 3D modeling and rendering package available.

Pros

The already intuitive interface has matured over the life of this product. Sitting down with Blender after using other products entails a learning curve, but the differences are logical and functional. Support for 3rd party extensions allows for more advanced modeling and rendering supporting Production quality work an a small budget. While there are extensions for sale for use with Blender, there is also a large collection of free extensions, improving modeling, simplying complex operations on models. Support via website tutorials, online documentation as well as a large number of YouTube tutorials make learning the software extremely simple and straight forward. If you want to do something in Blender, chances are someone has documented how to do it.

Cons

The learning curve is initially very difficult The interface is setup in a logical fashion but it is different enough from other 3d modeling software that you really need to take some time initially learning basic operations. Once you have basic operations and hotkeys under control, the software becomes much easier to use.

### "Blender: Most potent free software ever made?"

March 16, 2019

5.0

Pros

Blender is the ultimate software for 3D modeling, and I cannot recommend a stronger program if you need to create 3D objects in high detail. I personally used Blender to help take my 3D printing hobby to the next level. Earlier, I had made easy designs with software such as TinkerCAD. Blender has almost completely replaced those programs for me. Although there is a high learning curve, I was able to sculpt a human head in Blender and 3D print it. To this day, it is the coolest thing I have ever 3D printed. There is almost no downside to using Blender as it is a free software, and has many online guides and tutorials. In addition to using Blender to create complex 3D objects, I have also made short animations with Blender. Even then, it often seems that I have barely scratched the surface of all the features that come with Blender, such as the ability to create video games in the program. I am beyond impressed by the quality of Blender, and I doubt that a more potent free software in terms of creating things has ever been made.

Cons

Blender has a very high learning curve, and I find myself still looking up basic things even after months of regular use. I would not recommend Blender for simple tasks. I would also caution Mac users, as being able to use the num pad is very important. It is also very time consuming to create almost anything with Blender. The 3D printed human head that I mentioned earlier took over 12 hours to complete. That being said, for those looking for a powerful program, Blender is like no other.
