### "Best animation software after Houdini"

November 25, 2022

Whatever it's freelancing business or company business, this software is very helpful and quick to use.

Pros

Easy to use, easy to learn, easy to create, access to best animation features, game development...etc

Cons

Actually i didn't find missing part while using this software everything i ever needed in animation création i found it here.

Alternatives considered

[Houdini](https://www.capterra.com/p/210535/Houdini/)

Reason for choosing Blender

Well sure Houdini is better but it's more complex.

### "Best, lite and convenient 3D model designing and editing software"

May 3, 2019

5.0

Pros

I am a game developer and of-course it's necessary for me every time to design a good 3d model in less time means as quickly as possible, In this case Blender is the life-line for me to design basic 3D models and it also helps in editing a 3D model. As a game developer , I know that it's really very difficult to design every single piece of 3D models to be used in Games, so I daily render some of the 3D models by my own and then for other models, I just download or get them the other models from any non-copyrighted source or royalty free source and simply import them to Blender and then edit them as how I want it to be. This process reduces the time consumption for basic models to some high quality models of upto a particular level. Blender is fully featured and requires very less skills and practice , so I highly recommend it to newbies and to experienced people too for designing a basic looking 3D model. Unlike other 3D models, Blender provides almost every basic and necessary feature in a very simple and easy to use interface. The storage and the memory required to use Blender is really very low unlike other softwares.

Cons

With Blender, one can easily design 3D models but only upto a certain level means if we want to design a high and massive 3D model, then Blender will definitely can not give its best results. Blender provides basic features which are sometimes not useful in designing a high quality model. So, to design a high quality 3D model, I would not recommend Blender instead I would recommend to go with other 3D modeling softwares.

### "Full-featured 3D editing and rendering software with a steep learning curve"

March 19, 2018

4.0

Pros

First of all, it must be noted that Blender is a \*free\* and open-source 3D editing software. This makes it a must-have for anyone trying to create, edit, animate and / or render 3D models and scenes. Each of the major components (modelling, animation, rendering) is full of basic and advanced features. Despite the software's complexity, its user interface does a great job at integrating its different aspects. The built-in physically-based renderer (Cycles) comes with a powerful graph-based material model editor, which allows tweaking each object's appearance in great detail. Scripting support in Python for all main features is a great bonus for power users. Finally, the large community and swath of free online learning resources make it possible to approach this complex software, even as a total beginner.

Cons

The user interface, while very clean in appearance, is not very easy to grasp. Likewise, proficiency in this software requires mastering many keyboard shortcuts and modes. This drawback is alleviated by the quality of online tutorials available for free. I believe Blender also includes a game engine, although it is likely best to rely on Blender for 3D authoring, and then export assets to specialized software such as Unity.

### "A multifaceted accessible program for any business or project involving digital productions"

February 22, 2020

5.0

With many functions ranging from 3D rendering, creation of CGI and even video production, Blender is one of the best deals available in the market regarding 3D computer graphics toolsets. It can be used with excellent results by artists, business people and even entrepreneurs! I fall in the last category, since I had great sucess while using it for the creation of videos to be displayed on social media. It is a totally free and open-source software but I think that it is worth mentioning that it was also used in the recent past on Hollywood productions! Don't forget about the incredible community online that helped me with small issues that I had when I started to work with this program. This product guaranteed to me results with high quality and I don't think that I will stopping using it anytime soon for my professional objectives.

Pros

It has a wide variety of resources, all of it for free with a big community of users online helping each other and creating new plugins for the software.

Cons

The interface and other basic functions may be a little bit challenging to use for inexperienced users.

### "Blender, the best 3d modeling software on the market!"

June 6, 2019

5.0

I started using Blender at home in my personal time several years ago. I've since began working to implement its use into my job. Modeling things for posters that need to be created, modeling little characters for the news letters, things like that. Sure, maybe I put more time into it than its worth for those projects but I'm gaining more and more experience with a program I absolutely love. I cannot say enough good things about Blender. It's really been an inspiration in my life.

Pros

\- Blender is free...you'd have to pay literally hundreds of dollars for anything even remotely close to Blender. - Once you learn a few hot key commands and are able to wrap your head around visualizing something in a 3D spacial environment...the world is yours. - I cant count the number of blender Tutorial channels on YouTube. Shutout to Blend Guru!! \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] (I think his name is) has the best tutorials. - So many extensions and plugins available - Did I mention its free?

Cons

\- This is one of the few programs I really can't find fault with.

### "Great choice as an Educator"

September 19, 2023

5.0

Best choice if you are starting out with 3D modeling whether for print , animation or traditional 3D moedling

Pros

Though Blender is getting a bit too much trying to be a Swiss Army knife, as just a 3D modeling app - its great. Reasonably easy to learn and stable.

Cons

I prefer using a dedicated video editor and I am not a fan of its implementation of 2D , ir grease pencil

### "animates in 3d as a profecional"

June 26, 2018

5.0

my experience has been great for two things first in my work I have the ubuntu operating system, in my house I have windows and in the computer of my dad I have mac OS that sometimes lends me when I visited and in all the systems works excellent, second In the foundation where I was asked to learn to animate and they recommended the program I already had an experience with another animation program and with blender it was incredibly easy and super powerful.

Pros

It is one of the best animation programs, for me among the first three and I love it because I can use it in any operating system, as well as when I'm rendering, it has options that clean up the noise giving me a higher quality animation and another the best options is the composition that lets me handle the shadows like a professional in a very simple way.

Cons

The program is great and they have incredible potential especially in their render engines depending on the end of the animation, and the program is extremely light for installation. The problem is that when the animation is very complex the render is delayed depending on the potential of the equipment that is being used.

### "All of this, for free?!"

February 28, 2019

5.0

Pros

Blender first and foremost is an incredible free and open source software which at its heart is a 3D modelling application but can also do more than that. As a programmer, I am naturally inept at anything art related. However, Blender has enabled me to create placeholder assets for my creations to help me prototype and visualise my ideas.

Cons

In my opinion, the only con would be the that the UI is one of the harder ones to learn in this kind of software. However, this has been streamlined in the current beta version. (2.80 I believe)

### "The most awesome 3D modelling and rendering software."

October 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

Ever since I started using blender, modelling could not be easier. It is really friendly and features almost everything that a 3D modeller would need in his work. It has advanced shader functionality, nodes for manipulating almost every aspect of the rendering process, it is lightning fast when it has to render huge scenes with hundreds of ojbects. In many instances Blender does the work way better than other paid industry-standard rendering softwares. It is also free and anyone can download it and use it. If you are an aspiring 3D designer, then I recommend you start off with Blender and explore all of its awesome features and functionalities.

Cons

There aren't a lot of cons really. I have been using the software for almost 3 years now and apart from the occasional crash or the at times really obscure menus, Blender is an awesome program and they are constantly improving.

### "A Great Animation Tool"

April 8, 2019

4.0

It useful to making for a short animated film or video's for my work or personal use. It's most feature is free so when anyone want to learn animation recommend this application is better than another and its also have incredible feature for learning.

Pros

Its an open source so we get most of the feature free or fully equipped as compared to other software like maya we spend money for those features and its improving constantly like new version comes with better handling. We can do 95% work on its 3d view point. If we have laptop without num pad we can go on its input property after user preference then lick enable num pad which is used to rotate the viewpoint by number and also another feature if u not used mouse we can emulate 3 button mouse feature in input property.

Cons

When We click any where in viewpoint it will select the place which is not needed. The another thing is little bit silly in the left or right clicking of mouse button are sort of slipped when using on viewpoint so select by right is better option. Its also has not proper motion capture support. when we animate the large number of animation cartoon or something like more than 20 it has difficult for manage it. When we use its first time it look not easy to work on it.

### "Great for architectural visualizations"

April 10, 2024

5.0

Using Blender changed how I presented my architectural designs during this period. It took some time to master, but now it’s an essential part of my design toolkit. Not for every scenario, though, but it's great to have the alternative in my software portfolio to produce high-quality visuals that bring my projects to life.

Pros

Blender’s comprehensive suite of tools is a game-changer for creating detailed architectural 3D renderings and visualizations. Its is constantly improving and updating with new content.

Cons

Due to its steep learning curve can be hard to manage at first, especially for those new to 3D modeling software.

### "Blender is a superb starting point for any artist to learn 3D modeling and animation"

March 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

Blender is a glimpse of what creative people can do when they really care and work together. This software is free, which is amazing considering the incredible power it unleashes for the user. That is, by far, the greatest positive aspect of Blender. Using it involves no risk, no cost, and minimal commitment (no need to register a license). Yet, despite being free, Blender is incredible. Blender is nearly as capable as any competing products, yet receives so many updates, and so frequently, that the race for feature parity moves along at a break neck speed. So, even if it is not as polished as Autodesk or Maxon software, it's always getting better. It also cannot be understated how valuable the user community is. Any new feature, change, or patch that is issued has tons of forum posts, video tutorials, and feedback. If a new user has a question about anything, it is almost guaranteed that someone else has asked the same thing and made a guide. In short, Blender is free, powerful, and has an awesome community.

Cons

The learning curve for Blender is pretty high, especially for those new to 3d modeling and animation. Because Blender is open source, it is not as slick or smooth as competing products, but that's only a problem if you have used other software. It can also be difficult to achieve completely stable/balanced performance out of Blender without a pretty powerful computer. That said, this just comes with the territory. 3D animation is computationally taxing. It's difficult to complain about free software that already does so much.

### "Blender review "

May 20, 2022

5.0

I use blender to create logos and Short 3-D, videos and I'm also thinking of trying to use it for game programming since well animation is everyone's favourite especially kids so, Blender is a good software and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros

The availability of a canvas is essential, because it gives the user a core or starting point of the idea they have in mind. And the are great colours you can play with and create neon objects, so the software is interesting and can make contents of the future, something that is not from this planet .

Cons

The software is excellent and for now I feel like the features are effective and efficient so, it will give other users ideas on how the software can be improved. So far so good I love it .

### "Fantastic freeware. A bit clunky to use but worth the price"

July 9, 2018

5.0

Blender is a cheap (in fact, free) way for beginners to get started in 3D animation. Although it is not an industry standard, it can help users to learn skills and techniques that apply to all 3D workflows.

Pros

Blender has amazing capabilities, and in some cases can do more than paid 3D softwares. Blender is your catch-all for modeling, simulation (fluid, smoke, dynamics, etc.), texturing, sculpting, and rendering. It even has a video editor and node based compositor. The best part about Blender is that it is completely free. In fact, it's open source. Anyone looking to get started in 3D animation, motion graphics, or VFX can easily download blender and get started.

Cons

Despite the incredible capabilities, Blender can be a bit tricky to get started with. The user interface isn't very intuitive and can be much more confusing to learn than other softwares. Fortunately, there are many resources online to learn Blender.

### "The most powerful creation program for the buck (Blender 2.8)."

October 24, 2019

5.0

Blender has helped me solve numerous design problems as well as visualization problems.

Pros

Honestly I cannot overstate how powerful Blender (2.8) is. The fact that it is a FREE FOREVER program just absolutely blows my mind. Whatever you image yourself doing, whether it be : creating a 3D model of a person or object, creating 3D environments, creating 3D OR 2D animations, sculpting, sketching out ideas, creating photorealistic images/scenes, creating textures, lighting effects, on and on and on, THIS is the program for you. Once you learn the software (and there are tons of resources out there for that) the sky is the limit. NO, the sky is easily attained, it's your IMAGINATION that is the limit!

Cons

Literally the ONLY negative I could state about Blender 2.8 is the learning curve. Blender in general (2.79 or 2.8) has a steep learning curve, BUT, and I cannot overstate this: once you do push through the beginning learning stages you will be massively rewarded with the power to create so many things.
