Pros It's the best program for Modeling, Animation, UV and Texture and also Video editing. It's light software but very powerful and feature-rich. Cons It does not correctly import some FBX file formats that come from other software like Maya or 3d Max (It has a parenting problem with objects that are the child of a bone element). It's open source (which means it's free!), while at the same time having all of the features that you'll need. Pros Blender is an open source (free) solution for 3d enthusiasts. While I was in college to become a 3d game artist, I was taught to use the most professional and expensive 3d computer graphics software out there, like 3ds Max and Maya. Afte r I finished college and got freelance projects from clients, I just couldn't afford to use the software that I was taught. That's when I heard about Blender, and haven't gone back. Blender has all of the features I'm used to in 3DS Max and Maya, and is free! These are what Blender awesome at: - 3d modeling characters, props, and environments - Character rigging for animation - Animation - Rendering - UV Unwrapping And a lot more. Cons Having to learn Blender after mastering other 3d computer graphics software, was a difficult challenge. Almost none of the tools that I was used to are where I would expect them to be in Blender. It required a lot of online training and videos in order for me to get up to speed and complete my projects. Luckily the resources are out there, and once you get a decent grasp of the software, it's full-featured and about as powerful as any other software out there. Pros What I really like are the two unique features I use in Blender: animation, especially character creation, object animation, and particle animation. I also love the rendering capabilities of Blender, as it allows you to generate realistic renders with advanced lighting effects. Pros Everything about blender is awesome, especially now that the 2.8's been released. It's free and open source and lets you do pretty much anything you'd ever want. My top blender features are: Eevee Modeling Animation Sculpting (in 2.8) Grease-pencil Compositing Cons I don't really have anything negative to say about this software and you'll hear this sentiment from every blender user there is. Blender software has a lot of features and tools packed together, in terms of game engine integrated within the software, video editing, and advanced modeling tools. All these amazing features are available for free in the blender software. Cons Blender is not widely accepted or used in the video game industry, unlike its big rival Maya that is the industry standard. Cons This software is very intimidating for new users like myself, but after learning the tools I needed everything made sense, and I was able to start from scratch and explain the software to others. It's very extensible with Python. After version 2.8, it has PBR materials and a new and fantastic render that provides a decent preview of the final work in real time (Eevee). All this and it's still completely free and open source! Cons The user interface can be intimidating for newcomers, although the revamp in 2.8 improved it by a lot. Cycles, Blender's unbiased path-tracer, does not support the new RT Cores. Actually, as far as I know, it doesn't even support RTX GPUs yet. However, I'm aware that this is just a matter of time. One of the most impending feature is to be able to create models in the first place, which can be used for videogames or other interesting things. It offers a wide array of choices and movements. Cons It is very complicated to use and project mostly for the fact that using this product is often anticipated to be easy but not challenging. From fluid dynamics, engineering, animation and even film production. It is by far the most exceptional peice of free software I have ever used. Cons The complete lack of tool-tips makes teaching yourself how to use the tools almost impossible.
