I came into Samsara having to take over from someone who suddenly left the company. Thanks to Samsara's customer support and training, I was brought up to speed very quickly on the platform and its functions.

Pros

Samsara allows us to track our fleet and mileage and use that information for safety, IFTA, HOS, and other essential functions, all in one place.

Cons

The new AI integration has not been a big help to our services, and I feel like is a distraction when navigating the platform.

Overall we've had a great experience with Samsara. It is integrated with every department of the company from Operations, Safety & Compliance, Maintenance and Billing.

Pros

What I like most about Samara is the ease of use. From installation to implementation it is all very user and driver friendly. The dash cameras are great, the event detection is very accurate and were able to use this to coach our drivers real time. Their customer support is also great, every ticket I have created has been resolved in a matter of a day. We truly see the value for money with the cameras alone it has saved us from proving we were not at fault for several accidents.

Cons

There is not much not to like. I would say some drivers have complained about the voice alerts being too sensitive. They sometimes get an in cab voice alert but the event/ video never shows up in the safety inbox. I've had to handpick which alerts to roll out to not overstimulate the drivers.

We chose Samsara because Motive (at the time KeepTruckin) did not offer a good tracking solution for operations. They focused more on the ELD and camera side of things.

There is an 8-hour delay in the personalized mileage and fuel reports. They only have coaching idling, not on other behaviors that are very important.

Overall, they have provided a great service to our fleet, and we see value in continuing our partnership.

Pros

Samsara offers a very comprehensive vehicle safety management system combining reliable GPS tracking capabilities with AI-powered and assisted driver monitoring capabilities to help keep drivers safe in the moment and reduce accident risks. The equipment is durable, fast, and provides audio minders to drivers when they are demonstrating negative behaviors (ex: looking at their cell phones, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, etc.). The dashboard for tracking vehicles across numerous states and geographical regions is very user-friendly. Recorded date from accidents or near-miss events can be easily obtained and is helpful for training and liability purposes. Lastly, the enhanced monitoring components help track vehicle health telematics like engine hours, battery effectiveness, and mileage. Samsara integrates well with our fuel card program and our Fleet Management system to help keep track of fuel economy and spend, and minders for preventative and periodic maintenance.

Cons

On occasion, we have had lapses in the availability of video data from key events, and this has made it harder to settle accident cases. Whether these lapses were caused by tech issues or internal errors is still not clear. The customer and tech support divisions are typically very responsive, but in some cases, they are slow to reply or initiate support efforts. I believe this is partly due to the timezone difference between Samsara and my company. I will say that whenever we have had an issue that we deemed serious enough to escalate to higher levels of support, they have been very responsive.

Overall, it has been great. The national accounts and customer service teams have been quick to respond to our firm's growing needs. I compliment the team to continuously advancing the capabilities of all devices to fill all needs, and some we did not we wanted.

Pros

Customized access controls for those who access the program. The value and options for the program have exceeded expectations.

Cons

When setting up asset tags, having some additional information on set-up do's and don'ts for 760+ units would have saved a lot of correction time.

My overall experience with the Samsara Brain and AI camera has been good. My Safety Manager \[sensitive content hidden\] is the primary user for the system. He collects and provides the information he receives for the Samsara system. As our Fleet Manager we use the Fleetio system with the Samsara system.

Pros

I appreciate that the Samsara system works with our auto integrate system by Fleetio. The Samsara Tracking, AI Camera, and Driver Report Card are all great tools and features.

Cons

The tape or adhesive used for the windshield camera mounting comes detached at times from the heat. Mechanics often disconnect the Samsara brain from the OBD port. Drivers often do not plug it back into the port which causes delays in receiving vehicle information.

My overall experience I would say is very satisfactory and I would not want it any other way. Thanks for making Samsara my choice.

Pros

I have had tried multiple products such as Omnitracs, and Samsara. I am 100% Samsara now. It is very reliable and has an overall ease of use. The dashboard is easy to teach drivers, and they pick it up fast. The cameras and the playback video is much easier to see and use vs Netradyne that I have also used in the past. I have had recent help from customer support as well. Their patience and thoroughness is also much appreciated. I also love the having my Fleet Screen up all day to reference where everyone is. Cuts down on calling them constantly to track their eta. Great Product!!

Cons

The only thing I can think I like least is the expense of each user option attached to the Samsara products. I wish it was a little cheaper to entice me to use all of the applications offered. It adds up fast with a large fleet.

Overall, really do love the cameras, service, and tracking. Don't really have any crazy complaints. Considering getting it for another company also!

Pros

Ability to track trucks and see how long they were at a certain location. Also, being able to see their speed and camera location. Great value for the money! The video quality is very good and it's very easy to use! Really, there aren't all that many bugs or issues either. I've never had to contact customer support!

Cons

Only minor con is sometimes service goes down but not for all that long really. OR sometimes doesn't show me footage but very rare.

Frictionless. We are a small company and Samsara provides more data than we can actually use, but I prefer that to putting up with some of the other systems that we have looked at.

Pros

The user interface is elegant and intuitive. I rarely have to refer to the documentation to figure out how something works. All of the information that needs to be together is displayed together and links to related data. The customer support techs almost always know what I am talking about and what they are talking about. The vehicle tracking is practically real time. Trucks added to the fleet are set to expire at the same time as the original contract.

Cons

Their focus is on developing new advanced features and much less on polishing the existing (quite good) features.

From the onboarding process, through install and initial setup, their support team has been very helpful.

Pros

The gateways are easy to install. It's easy to add/remove features. Their tech support is outstanding. The website is easy to use and has a lot of flexibility. The cameras and AI used for generating alerts is accurate and helpful. Getting a new/replacement unit is easy and only takes a day or two.

Cons

While adding features is easy, there is no a la carte option, it's a complete package upgrade when you only want to use 1 or 2 features.

Samsara has been an outstanding tool for managing our fleet. The dashboard is clean and intuitive, making it easy to quickly see vehicle locations, driver status, and any alerts that need attention.

Pros

Tracking our fleet in real time has never been easier. Samsara provides accurate GPS data, detailed trip histories, and helpful insights that allow us to improve efficiency and safety. The mobile app is just as simple to use. We recently installed 360 Multi Cameras and it has been such a great way to reduce accidents and help our drivers feel safer while they are on the road.

Cons

If I had something I disliked about Samsara it would be to allow more reporting options (which has greatly improved since we started using Samsara).

My overall experience has been great. I like what I see and as I stated earlier, Samsara will make my company safer. I fully believe that our CSA score will improve because of this system. Drivers are held accountable for their actions, and in most cases, there is no disputing it.

Pros

My company just got started with Samsara. In the short time that I have had Samsara, I'm extremely happy. We have the front facing camera in our setup. I love the safety notifications that I receive when a driver gets outside of the parameters that are set up. It holds the drivers accountable and there is no arguing with video evidence. We have had a few bugs and issues to work through, but the customer support has been really good. The conversations with customer support has been pleasant and our issues are resolved in a very timely manner. The ease of use for the drivers has been better than I expected. The drivers have been frustrated, but the reason for that is that this system holds them accountable and there is no disputing it. Samsara will make my company better!

Cons

Quite honestly, at this time I don't have any "cons" for the system. Like any new system, there is a learning curve. I'm a warehouse manager who also drives as needed so I get a lot of hands on usage that some managers might not get. I know exactly what the drivers are usually talking about and can work through stress points rather quickly because of that. I'm not involved with the billing and invoicing, so I can't speak to that piece, but as a location manager, I couldn't be happier with the visibility that I get for my drivers.

Samsara has been a real game changer for us, from technology to the compliance piece, it has been an extreme improvement over the last provider.

Pros

The software is very easy to use and the hardware could not be easier to install. When we do have a problem the support team is great!

Cons

I would like to be able to see times along the vehicle route so we can quickly see at what time they where at a specific point on the map. Also the mobile app does many updates that take too long to restart the app.

Overall it has been good, but there has been some issues especially with the CTC getting approved in Ca.

Pros

Customer service is good and the dashboard is easy to read. It's easy for our drivers to log in and do their DVIR's.

Cons

That they still are waiting for the CTC's to get approved in Ca. I know it's a cable thing for the Hino trucks, but considering a majority of our trucks are Hino's, it's a little frustrating.

Overall can't complain too much. I like them for the reasons i already mentioned and I dislike them mainly for the one reason I mentioned.

Pros

It is easy to install in each truck. Also, customer support is usually pretty decent. The constant updates are pretty solid.

Cons

I liked that they made a place to track driver and certifications. I guess people started to use it so like any company I know, they decided to turn it into another separate subscription. As if paying 1000s already wasn't enough for our company, if we want to use this document tracker, we need to pay more - not cool.

Samsara is way beyond the telematic partner, providing comprehensive 360 degree solution to our business.

It might be a little bit pricey at the beginning but once you get into it, you will figure out how to optimize cost and ROI

We originally installed the GPS trackers to the buses because they worked with Swiftly. Our maintenance shop discovered the diagnostic capabilities and the fault reports. If there is a warning light on in the vehicle while it is on the road, we can tell if the vehicle is safe to continue or needs to be stopped. We are currently testing a couple dual facing cameras.

Pros

The ease of use and quickness of response to questions. The product is incredibly easy to use. The mechanics can easily see the location of the vehicles and pull up the diagnostics or faults. If I have questions about adding on or using something that we hadn't previously, the response is always quick and helpful.

Cons

The short time frame of the user invite link when we add users to our account. When I add a user and the request goes out, we have a lot of "I will get to that later" but the invite expires before they access the link.

My personal usage of Samsara within my role relates to setting up drivers for dispatch, troubleshooting issues with Routes, and reviewing dashcam footage in the case of incidents. I have completed both the Telematics and Reporting Platform Expert certifications through the Samsara Academy. My overall experience with the platform has been consistently positive, and as someone who works in IT, I can confidently say it is the best-designed out of all the systems I manage.

Pros

The dashboard and driver app have a very well-designed, user-friendly UI, the system very rarely experiences any downtime, it has a very capable API, and everything seems to simply work as intended.

Cons

One thing that I find somewhat irritating is how IDs for drivers and equipment are not available fields on the frontend, and must be extracted from the URL of their individual screens, or from a csv export (only in the case of Drivers, as the ID does not show on the export for Assets). This is quite a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it is something that I have to work around quite frequently. The ID should really be an optional column that can be added.

Overall, good app for truck drivers. I experienced for first FLEET wide outage on a Friday (of course) last year and the quickness of a resolution was impressive. The fact that once it was back up, it back-filled our drivers logs was impressive and sure saved companies a ton of time and extra work to ensure drivers logs were legal and correct.

Pros

I think that Samsara is a GREAT product for our truck drivers. I think that it is easy to use for their loads and paperwork. What I like most for the drivers is that every thing is done in the app. Drivers don't have to scan their paperwork through a separate device. The load information, messages from their dispatcher, paperwork.....everything is in one app.

Cons

It seems that every time an update comes out, the update causes issues with other things inside the app, so then what it feels like is that the update isn't tested thoroughly to see if it is going to cause issues for other things in the app. I HATE the new speed graph. It is NOT user friendly from a trucking stand point at all. The way the speed graph was before was fantastic and VERY easy and quick to use and see speeds at certain times. TICKET turn around time is a HUGE issue for me. When I open a ticket, I am in need of a QUICK resolution b/c the majority of the time, the issues is affecting my drivers logs and they can't drive until it's corrected or fixed.

Overall, Samsara is a powerful platform with strong tracking, safety monitoring, and video capabilities. The performance is solid, and the tracking data is dependable. However, it requires time and experience to fully understand and configure properly. Customer support and documentation are helpful, but due to the complexity of the system, there is still a reliance on trial and error to learn the platform. Once dialed in, it can be very effective—but the initial experience on the administrative side could be significantly improved.

Pros

Samsara provides strong visibility into driver behavior, tracking, and overall fleet safety. The GPS tracking and trip data are reliable, and the ability to review video footage tied to events is one of the most valuable features—it allows for accurate validation instead of guessing what happened. From the driver side, the app is straightforward and easy to use, which helps with adoption. Once the system is properly configured, it becomes a powerful tool for identifying trends, managing risk, and improving accountability across the fleet.

Cons

The administrative side is not very user-friendly and has a steep learning curve. Key features are difficult to find, and the navigation between dashboards, safety inbox, coaching, and driver profiles is not intuitive. There is also confusion around how settings (like speeding thresholds and sensitivity) impact driver safety scores. Without proper setup, the system can generate excessive alerts that require manual filtering, which is time-consuming. Occasionally, the platform feels inconsistent in how data is presented, and it can take extra steps to locate specific events or reports.

In general, we are satisfied, and we do believe Samsara can improve many things to attract even more customers. Would I recommend them? Yes. But would everyone accept it right away? I’m not sure I’d have to be a pretty good salesman.

Pros

I like a lot of things about Samsara, the customer support, the accuracy, the features, and the cameras. The cameras could still be improved, but overall I’m happy with the system.

Cons

I don’t really like the constant updates that slow things down, or the new features that show up without a clear explanation and often aren’t needed. The payment process is also a bit unclear. There are good things, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The IFTA reports could definitely be improved, as well as better control over speeding. I also want to mention the updates the data connection is limited, and with weekly updates this often causes incorrect hour calculations for drivers. When it comes to hours, this is a real issue, especially because Samsara is considered one of the best ELD devices in the USA, and my company uses it mainly because the logs cannot be edited. Because of that, Samsara should improve its services and make things easier for drivers, not force them to do “math problems” just to guess how many hours they will have. And with constant updates, there’s always a risk that the logbook won’t work the way it should.

Overall, Samsara has definitely been worth it for us. It gives us better visibility, reduces wasted time, and helps us run a more organized operation across multiple job sites. Even with the few tech issues we experienced, the value we’ve gotten out of the system far outweighs the cons. I’d recommend it to other construction companies that want better reporting, accountability, and an easier way to stay on top of their fleet.

Pros

We’ve been using the Samsara fleet tracking system for our masonry construction company, and it’s been a very solid addition to how we manage our vehicles and equipment. The real-time visibility has honestly made our lives a lot easier—being able to see where trucks are, coordinate job site arrivals, and keep things moving without a bunch of phone calls or guesswork has saved us time and headaches. The dashboard is pretty intuitive too, which is nice because we’ve got a mix of tech comfort levels in our office and out in the field, and everyone picked it up quickly. The system also gives us helpful insight into driver behavior and maintenance needs, which has pushed us to stay ahead of service issues and coach safer driving habits, both of which have real financial benefits when you’re running a fleet.

Cons

We did have a few hiccups along the way with the actual tracking devices. A couple of them failed and had to be replaced, which wasn’t ideal, and led to some downtime and troubleshooting. That said, their support team was responsive and handled replacements fairly quickly, so it didn’t turn into a long-term problem—more of an occasional annoyance than anything else. Install also takes time if you’re gearing up multiple vehicles, so it’s worth planning for that.

I am impressed with Samsara to this point. We are currently looking to enhance our efficiencies by looking into the routing using Samsara. The reporting and tracking has giving us the tools necessary to see where our efforts need to be placed to be more efficient.

Pros

I really like the ease of use and the reports. We are really using the reports to assist us with tracking, performance, and efficiency. The value we currently gain has given us insights into the truck and driver performances. The support we receive has been tremendous. We have had questions and a couple issues that were resolved quickly and the first time.

Cons

Prior to the latest updates, In would have said the need to have one place to look at critical information. With the latest webinar, you have created one screen that provides the necessary information needed. It was a great update.
