It also helps me locate drivers when I'm out in the field, it shows exactly where their located. It provides a lot of information to help keep our drivers safe. Pros The ease of using the software, very easy to understand how to use the product. There is also and AI chatbot that helps if you do get to something your not sure how to proceed. The customer service help for the hardware is top notch, help is there when you need it. It is also nice that the software is very reliable and free of bugs and issues. Cons The Customer Support is more oriented towards chat and email, would sometimes like to be able to speak to customer support agent. The reports we’re able to generate through Samsara will significantly reduce the workload for our drivers—no more trip sheets! Additionally, the maintenance tracking features for our trucks are a huge benefit. Overall, Samsara has greatly improved our operations. Our maintenance shop discovered the diagnostic capabilities and the fault reports. If there is a warning light on in the vehicle while it is on the road, we can tell if the vehicle is safe to continue or needs to be stopped. We are currently testing a couple dual facing cameras. Pros The ease of use and quickness of response to questions. The product is incredibly easy to use. The mechanics can easily see the location of the vehicles and pull up the diagnostics or faults. If I have questions about adding on or using something that we hadn't previously, the response is always quick and helpful. Cons The short time frame of the user invite link when we add users to our account. When I add a user and the request goes out, we have a lot of "I will get to that later" but the invite expires before they access the link. Cons I don't like the battery life on the AG-51 asset tracker when it comes to unpowered fleet assets that are on the road for extended periods of time as the batteries would die and would cause us to lose tracking on assets until batteries could be replaced. Cons I would like the speed notifications to have a lower threshold to trigger the alert - currently it is 10 MPH over the speed limit for a set amount of time. There are many products we don't currently or cannot use, but the value is there. Cons Trying to obtain assistance when I need help is a little difficult at times. I have struggled to get the correct information back on the first ask. We store all of our maintenance records digitally and can pull reports for cost analysis Pros Samsara has been a great product for tracking all of our assets, data, maintenance and they are constantly updating it with new features Cons Samsara can be a little cumbersome to manage all of the devices if you are using several. Pros The Telematics on Samsara is what Like most. The Fact that I can get notified when there is a Fault in the Vehicle's System. Cons The current placement of the Samsara telematics units allows them to be easily kicked or unplugged by drivers. Cons There is an inconsistency in keeping up with speed limits across the board. Our drivers continue to get hit with speeding issues when Samsara is incorrect on the speed in the area. It has helped improve communication, accountability, safety monitoring, and operational visibility across the fleet. The platform gives us access to a lot of useful data that helps us identify trends and coach drivers more effectively. Their support team has also been responsive whenever we’ve needed help. Pros The biggest advantage for us has been the visibility into safety events and driver behavior. Samsara has helped us move toward a much more proactive safety process instead of constantly reacting after incidents happen. The video footage, safety inbox, coaching tools, and reporting features have all been extremely useful. We also like how easy the platform is to navigate compared to some other systems. Cons Like any platform, there are occasional technical issues and learning curves. We’ve run into a few HOS/split sleeper calculation issues that required manual review, and there are times where we’d like more flexibility with certain reporting or customization features. Cons CMV speed limits - continue to communicate to Samsara that speed limits are not updated timely. They are working on getting them done sooner than later, but some speed limits havent been updated in >6 months. I have completed both the Telematics and Reporting Platform Expert certifications through the Samsara Academy. My overall experience with the platform has been consistently positive, and as someone who works in IT, I can confidently say it is the best-designed out of all the systems I manage. Pros The dashboard and driver app have a very well-designed, user-friendly UI, the system very rarely experiences any downtime, it has a very capable API, and everything seems to simply work as intended. Cons One thing that I find somewhat irritating is how IDs for drivers and equipment are not available fields on the frontend, and must be extracted from the URL of their individual screens, or from a csv export (only in the case of Drivers, as the ID does not show on the export for Assets). This is quite a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it is something that I have to work around quite frequently. The ID should really be an optional column that can be added.
