HR Director Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Good system for Field workers" April 21, 2025 4.0 As mentioned in the cons, I'm not a primary user of Samsara, so my experience is limited to reviewing data in the system and the forms that can be created. Overall, I like the capabilities and the Samsara team we work with. Pros I like that it provides real-time data and notifications based on my settings. I like that I can create reports - even with the current structure limitations. Our PMs have been able to better monitor where their field teams are located - which has helped with tracking time. Cons I am not a primary user of Samsara, so I have not gotten into the system consistently to determine what I don't like. I did attempt to create an incident report form and it's a bit limited in how the form can be set up. I would have liked to have the ability to section out the form and allow for a title and instructions for the section Switched from [Verizon Connect](https://www.capterra.com/p/72551/Fleetmatics-Work/) The cost of Verizon Connect was high plus they required us to do a 5 year contract. Even for the first time, I could track the truck trip history very easily. Also, the real-time GPS tracking is very fast and accurate. Cons Samsara is more expensive than other products like Motive. I got a free Samsara hat a few months ago which was very nice. I think the website is really easy to use. Pros I like how easy it is to retrieve video and how quickly it's available. I also like how it's easy to look up an operator. Cons What I liked least about Samsara is how sometimes the operator is wrong. The other thing liked least about Samsara is that I don't know how to see when a gateway is unplugged. It would be nice to see a list of gateways that are unplugged. Review Source SE Sean E. Cons Misdetection on distracted driving and not knowing when you are on a freeway v the frontage road. That creates false speeding notifications. Only one minute with audio. The dash cam footage is clear and easy to access and the telematics and reporting built into Samsara is extremely robust. Pros It’s reliable, easy to use and has a friendly UI. The telematics it offers also give a lot of insight into how the fleet performs and identifies areas where we can do better in our fleet management. Cons Customer service is very slow at dealing with issues. Connectivity is also often a problem in more remote areas which can cause delays in registering a DVIR for the drivers. They offer so many different ways to train and learn about their products and the platform. You really can be a master of the process, and they are constantly updating all the ways to enhance the experience. Pros I like the many different things that Samsara offers to help businesses track their property. I love all of the Intergrations and things that you can do with the online portion of Samsara. The tracking, idling, fuel data, efficiency, and safety features are some of my most favorite things. Cons Nothing. March 13, 2026 4.0 So far it has been as good or better than I expected for what I use it for. The real time video is very good and the ability to find drivers/trucks quickly is what I like most. Pros I use it in my position mostly for tracking. It works well to locate drivers so customers service it improved. Cons I really don't have anything to complain about at this time. The factor for us was that we had other units hardwired and could not replace with a easy fix. Pros The customer service getting to know our needs and trying to meet every need we have. Very attentive. Alyssa our rep was great! Cons Trying to return equipment was a hassle. They shipped 4- boxes of equipment. But to return the equip they only sent 1 label and expected us to consolidate all equipment into 2 boxes. Pros Ease of installation. We were given assistance every step of the wat while getting the product installed in our peterbilts. Cons Getting all employees to see the benefits of the program was not as easy as i had hoped it would be. Some employees thought it was like having big brother looking over their shoulder. It is also easy to use the system in the office. I also appreciate that the support in very knowledgeable when I need to use them. Cons Sometimes they are a little slow to respond. Every now and then I have an issue that apparently stumps them an they do not get back to me until the following day. We have also noticed that with the AI it has prevented accidents and near misses. Pros The AI has gotten better and the new programs that have been implemented have been working great. One of the new programs is the CARB testing, we have been very happy with this! Cons One of the cons we experienced is that there was an update done to the system and it wiped out a bunch of corrections we had made regarding speed limits that the gateway was picking up. I also am very pleased with the response times for customer care. Pros I really enjoy the camera function and the way the AI is looking out for our drivers. I also appreciate the customer service. From the initial review process to installing Samsara employees were very helpful and informative Pros Easy to use and peace of mind. I like knowing where my assets are and being able to track everything. Fuel costs and all the reporting is amazing. Cons The cost, but worth it. It flags events and compiles data fairly accurately. It would be better if there was a way to establish a PowerBI connection to the information in the reports section. Pros I think that the interface is very intuitive. I like that there are robust reporting tools. Cons I think that exporting on a schedule is still a bit confusing. I am not sure if the correct data is being outputted because I need rolling dates that go along with the day upon which I'm exporting. For example, I want to see the safety scores of all drivers from the previous week every Saturday. When configuring this, it looks like I am going to be receiving the same week in my inbox regardless of the date in the future. Pros What I like to most about Samsara is the Ease of Use, Tracking, Performance and Speed and Customer Support. When asking questions with the help desk, hear back in a good amount of time. The software is easy to use and tracks all the necessary information. Pros I like how easily you can track all employees' progress throughout the day. In addition happy you can attach other app programs to the Samsara account. Cons The thing I like least about Samsara is the billing system. I feel you should be able to set all equipment to the same billing cycle and not have separate cycles. The concerns that I have had, I received a quick reply.
