I can locate, evaluate, and keep a watch on my drivers. Pros The ability to monitor our trucks and their status real time. We have 20+ trucks over 7 states, and I am constantly having to keep up with locations, monitor for problems, and be sure drivers are awake, staying off their cell phones, and not speeding. Samsara is the perfect app for this. Cons Although it isn't my job most of the time. I occasionally have to fix one of the driver's HOS. I still find it a little intimidating. Customer support tends to be quick, but at times they can take a while to get to the core issue. Sometimes that's simply because the reporting person can't have the vehicle available to them at the time when support replies, so that's not on Samsara Pros Ease of use. Once the devices are installed, you don't have to do anythign aside from the very occasional adjustment of the camera view but that's very rare. Cons Installation by many of our terminal managers was challenging. I personally am not one for installing things like this. It's hard, but not impossible to get the wiring hidden. They help dumb things done for this old guy. lol Cons Unfortunately, the VG/Camera system did not trigger an alert that we were involved in a crash. It was a one-off because the impact was not significant enough to trigger an alert. It has helped improve communication, accountability, safety monitoring, and operational visibility across the fleet. The platform gives us access to a lot of useful data that helps us identify trends and coach drivers more effectively. Their support team has also been responsive whenever we’ve needed help. Pros The biggest advantage for us has been the visibility into safety events and driver behavior. Samsara has helped us move toward a much more proactive safety process instead of constantly reacting after incidents happen. The video footage, safety inbox, coaching tools, and reporting features have all been extremely useful. We also like how easy the platform is to navigate compared to some other systems. Cons Like any platform, there are occasional technical issues and learning curves. We’ve run into a few HOS/split sleeper calculation issues that required manual review, and there are times where we’d like more flexibility with certain reporting or customization features. I enjoy the usage of samsara and i am also interested in is there a process or an app the we could use this system for actually gps for truckers to be able to safely get from point a and point b via semi safe passage roads Pros being able to see where my drivers are at all times and the break down of truck information. information and communication is good. SO far good Pros We have had a great experience with the customer support team at Samsara. Their representatives are always professional, responsive, and very knowledgeable. Anytime we have an issue or question, they respond quickly and work hard to resolve it as soon as possible.
