Pros: Coda is the best Code Editor I've ever used. I guess I use this editor since 2010!

Back in time, I remember that a team of 3 Front-End Developers was editing the same code, building websites very fast. You can choose your color to guide your development on the document, awesome and fun.

Sync: having your account, you can sync your clips and other configs that Coda has! No matter how many computers you may work on, you can download Coda for MacOS and start working.

It really worth the money. I've paid once and since then, I'm always getting all the upgrades! :)

The thing I like most: CLIPS. They are pieces of code triggered by words followed by a TAB. I do create websites in the speed of light using this.

Cons: Actually, I don't see many cons on this app, but my friend does. All of them uses VSCode, etc.

Maybe, there is missing on Coda the Terminal command lines to improve the app.

Overall: I do recommend for mac OS users / front-end developers to buy Coda App. Cool colors to use on your code, sync options, clips to optimize your time and production.

Pros: Coda (current version 2 2.7.3) is a very stable, fully featured coding environment for Mac. I like its streamlined, unfussy interface, its code completion features, built in publishing tools (to allow SFTP and GIT connectivity). I particularly like its search capabilities that allow whole site directories to be scoured in search of specific text.

Cons: Code completion was a big draw for me, and while it does work most of the time, it is still doesn't *always* work. Sometimes file transfers using SFTP fail for unknown reasons.

Overall: I have used Coda for several years, and it is my "go to" solution when I need to code. I was happy to pay for the software as I find it feels right for me, and although there are cheaper options out there, even free apps that do similar things, I like working with Coda.

Pros: Coda is one of my first installs on a new Mac. It has all the features you want of an advanced text editor while retaining the simplicity needed for writing notes. It provides syntax help for various programming languages and other quality of life improvements.

Cons: The price of Coda is a bit high. Especially if you intend to use it mainly as a notepad replacement.

I have sometimes managed to crash Coda by erroneously opening non-text formatted files. While not a huge problem, I believe this should only occur very rarely when you pay that much for an editor.

Overall: I am using Coda universally for text and code. It is often filled with tabs for several different projects at a time. This keeps things organized and easily accessible.

Pros: Coda is my go-to for writing code. It's got all the features of any IDE but in addition has version control, consoles, ftp and remote/local file systems built right in! Forget installing a bunch of different programs for development, Coda does it all in one simple program.

Having used a range of the most popular IDEs available, this is definitely the stand out for me.

Cons: It's only officially available for Mac OS X. I would pay more for the program if I could get a license that would work with software on both Windows and Mac OS X. It seems like a no-brainer to me.

Overall: This software provides solutions for so many of my common development tasks.

Pros: - Super intuitive with nice code highlighting

- Powerful FTP client (remember, Panic own Transmit!)

- In-app preview

- Local and hosted file management

- Really affordable

- Fantastic support

Cons: Having code highlighting on with a large minimised CSS file can really slow things down; the solution for now is to turn off code highlighting, but this is such a small gripe, I'm really reaching to find a con! Coda is incredible.

Overall: When Panic release a product they really go deep on it; Coda has been supported over 12 years now, and has served me well for a very long time. I use and rely on it daily, and still feel like I haven't scratched the surface when it comes to features that help you code.

Pros: I can do everything in Coda that I need for many web development tasks. It has a great editor, an OK amount of plugins, and best of all a really nice FTP/SFTP/SSH client. They even have a companion iOS app (previously called "Diet Coda") that lets you do a whole lot on the go, from your iPad.

Cons: Coda 2 is now getting long in the tooth, and it's getting outpaced by more modern web dev software. In the meantime I've switched my main IDE to VS Code.

Can be very slow compared to other leaner IDEs.

Overall: I've used it for years and it still has a lot of value, but needs an update to be avoid being left behind.

Pros: I love how easy it is to use and the ability to use plugins and themes make work so much easier and for the price, you can't beat it.

Cons: There is not much negative to say about Coda. Over the years Coda has expanded and improved and only continues to do so over time. If I had to choose a con it would be that it does not have more tools or features, but to me that is what I like.

Overall: I am a front-end developer and I have been using coda for about 2 years now. There are many different kinds of coding software that do a lot of different things. For me, Coda does what it does well with no bloat. The plugins allow me to keep my code clean.

Pros: There are two main uses I have for Coda:

1) Accessing and editing files via FTP. When I need to edit child-theme files for a Wordpress site, Coda is the editor I use.

2) Coda has an amazing search feature: If you have a local copy of a website, you can add it to Coda and then perform site-wide searches. This is invaluable when I'm trying to track down a certain classname or function across many files.

Coda also has the best search/replaced. You can add wild cards that show up as little numbers, then you can re-order those numbers for the "replace". This is so powerful!

Cons: It's a little lacking in terms of what you can expect from the likes of Visual Studio Code, Atom, or Sublime Text.

It's not my choice for local editing, but if I need to connect via FTP/SFTP it's usually my go-to.

Overall: Easily edit files via FTP or SFPT. Fantastic site-wide search feature. Fantastic search and replace with unique wildcards.

Pros: I really enjoy using Coda to edit HTML files and upload them to the web using FTP. I like how you can select an HTML file that's up on the web and edit it inside the same window. When you save the file it automatically re-uploads the file you were editing.

Cons: It can be difficult for someone to use who isn't super familiar with coding. It doesn't have all the drag and drop kind of functionality that Dreamweaver offers.

Overall: I use this program just about every day. It's my favorite program to use for my HTML editing and FTP. I use a Mac mostly so I can use this software.

Pros: It's easy to use, and I love the multi-pane editor. You can open an ftp panel AND two different documents to compare them. The built in Terminal is also handy. There are built in reference manuals and a database editor that I hardly use.

Cons: It seems like it's behind a lot of newer editors.

Overall: Code is still my go-to editor for css and php. It's not overly expensive and does the job, but again just seems to be behind some of the newer editors out there. Overall though, it's pretty solid and does what it does very well.

Pros: I love everything about Coda 2. It keeps all of my sites organized and synced across multiple computers. Setting up a new site is simple and literally takes less than a minute to get up and going.

Cons: The only issues I've had weren't necessarily the fault of Coda, but a lot of times with servers hosted on Go Daddy, I get a lot of "host key changed" notifications which makes it a PITA to work on a site when this is going on. Not sure who's at fault on that though.

Pros: The user interface is very friendly and have some interesting features like the find/replace using wildcards.

Also Coda have a built in ftp client which works very well.

Cons: Its community is not big enough to keep updated with the latest web development practices, so the plugins are in most cases outdated. In case you need to use Lint or other kinds of validation on the fly, besides other features like smart snippets, you'll miss that.

Pros: Coda saves me time in numerous ways. It helps me power through repetitive coding tasks, and it can spot and fix coding mistakes that could potentially cause a lot of lost time and frustration. Just autocorrecting one human error within my code writing could justify the cost of the whole applications. There are free alternatives, but Code is well worth the cost.

Cons: I wish you could buy a "Coda Forever" license that would give you access to all future upgrades and all supported platforms. I bought Coda and then Coda 2, and they offered no upgrade path. Not a major concern, but the fact that this is my only issue should speak to the quality of the software.

Pros: The ability to store all of our logins in one place is fantastic. We constantly jumping between accounts and servers throughout the day, and Coda makes that easy. The code writing tools are fantastic as well, and Coda keeps our code error free and easy to navigate later.

Cons: We've had the occasional problem updating from old versions (we're using the Coda 2 version from a couple years back) but that hasn't been too big of an issue. Otherwise, Coda works great and I can't really see our team changing away from using it anytime soon.
