### "Without Deputy, my Business would not exist"

Exceptional!

Pros

Deputy is by far the best platform out there for scheduling, without a doubt! Like the title of my review says, without it, my business would not happen. Having employees work remotely in remote locations nationwide would be impossible to schedule, track, time-keep, and report to payroll without it. It is extremely easy to use and integrates with my HR software platform. I LOVE IT! I actually market that to my clients.

Cons

I have minor suggestions that would only optimize the platform, and the company (Deputy) welcomes these, and makes it very easy to suggest! These guys are GREAT!

The overall experience has been very positive to our business. This software has exceeded our expectations and we are happy that we chose Deputy. Its cost is also very reasonable.

Pros

As a business, we decided to implement Deputy software because we were finding it difficult to keep a track of time and attendance of employees. This problem started to be faced as we started growing and hence more employees started to be employed. Deputy has surely met our expectations with its extensive range of features we are now able to keep a proper track of all employees attendance as well as distributing tasks to them.

Cons

Apart from the fact that it may take a few time to get comfortable to using the software, we did not face any issues.

Deputy has helped with simplifying rostering, award interpretation, communicating business essential info to staff, payroll, and recording staff details. Not everything is 100% perfect, but I've yet to come across a better integrated solution.

Pros

Award interpretation takes the guesswork out of paying employees correctly. Notifications when awards update makes it easy to keep up to date with rates and penalties.Rostering is simple, and allows staff to attempt to cover their own shifts is required.

Cons

Some auto shift creation functions could be easier to set up I guess

Deputy makes many parts of time management seamless, and is a single pane of glass for employees

Cons

Trying to do advanced reporting, or anything nonstandard with deputy is like pulling teeth from a chicken

I like the way you can switch between week, two weeks and a month in the schedule, also the way you request leaves and absence in general, it's very easy to work with the software. Also the location log in tracking is a great feature.

I have not found anything the bothers me in the software so far.

It's very user friendly and good to have a mobile app for team member to clock on.

Cons

There needs to be more colour options in the locations, when we have many locations (people) it's easier to quickly identify the person by location colour. It's very limited.

Overall great feelings towards this product. It is easy to use. Makes sense to the new employees, makes keeping track of my time so much better.

Pros

I love the daily photos your staff have to take. I love that it flows so well with Gusto. I truly enjoy how easy it is to clock in and out on a daily basis. It has a very friendly user format. I love how easy it is to edit the time when I screw up and forget to clock back in after my break. I like how I can see who is working on what days. It helps with planning ahead with the schedule.

Cons

I truly get frustrated when it automatically adds your 30 min break if you did not take one. Sometimes it can be hard to get the picture taken to clock in and out. I have had to restart the device a few times, and when you are done for the day and need to get going, that can be very frustrating. It would be a nice feature to see when other staff are asking for time off, so I do not bother asking for that time off as well if I do not need to take that same time off.

We are in the air-conditioning & mechanical services industry with approx 40 employees and a similar amount of sub-contractors working on various sites throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area. Before we installed Deputy we were relying on each individual signing a "sign on/sign off" sheet at the various job sites. On these large construction sites it's very difficult for the site supervisors to monitor the actual start and finish times of individuals. Time sheets were emailed to us on a fortnightly basis from each employee/sub-contractor. These were all formatted differently and made wages preparation a long and laborious task.

Pros

Each site has an ipad and the employee/sub-contractor logs in at the start and finish of their shift where a photo is also taken which makes the monitoring of staff very easy. The times are approved by the office manager each day and individuals can check what shift times have been approved on their app at any time. Each fortnight the time sheets are printed, which are in an each to read formalt, and wages are prepared from these sheets. This process has reduced approximately five hours of wage preparation. Customer support has also been prompt and efficient.

Cons

The best way to use Deputy on job sites is with a "kiosk" (ipad). We don't have secure site sheds at all sites so finding a location to put the "kiosk" with available power to charge it was harder in some areas.

Pros

Swift timesheet proofing and exporting to Xero.

Cons

Currently the cost I like least about this software, their new onboarding tool is no value add. At $15 AUD per onboarded employee, it all adds up throughout the year and for what? It sends the employee an email and they follow a link to complete some info: it seems like a ripoff. They charge this from the moment you hit send, so when a potential employee changes their mind and decides not to complete onboarding or not start work, you get hit with their bill anyway. The other thing which sucks is how the export takes place. It can only export into 1 account code in Xero, so if like us you wish to export each department into a seperate account code (as opposed to tracking code), the software cannot do that. And I've requested this add-on many times.

Save time and money on administering payroll and chasing up employees timesheets etc and ease of planning forward rosters and staffing spends.

Pros

We save loads of time and money on payroll by using Deputy. Payroll is cut down to a couple of clicks instead of hours of chasing up timesheets etc. All our managers love the software as it's super easy to use and easy to plan prospective staff spend. Communication is pretty good also with the notifications and staff having to confirm receipt of notifications. Swapping shifts is also great. Overall an excellent program that has saved us a lot of time and headache.

Cons

We have multiple locations in each state that share staff, sometimes it can be a bit tricky to keep on top of the different locations that one staff member might work across. The mobile app is easy to use but doesn't have the functionality of the full app such as offering staff an open shift etc.

Pros

I like that the Deputy UI is really easy to navigate. There is a lot of information held in Deputy and it could easily be set up non-user friendly, but I find that I have no trouble navigating all of the different hierarchies of information to get to where I need to go. Our staff hasn't had any trouble signing up or jumping in with their schedules. I also really enjoy that it reminds people (and me) when they forget to clock in!

Cons

While I like that I get reminders that people forget to clock in, I often receive them after they've already clocked in, I wish I got a second notice that they in fact did clock in after receiving their notification. This may seem petty, but it can save some leg work (literally).

Overall, Deputy helped me to relieve stress that comes along with managing payrolls and attendance among a team of employees. I have been able to effectively organize all of my time-sheets without issue, and will continue to use Deputy for my business.

Pros

The price is excellent and you receive a quality, well-rounded software that allows you to effectively manage payroll and attendance sheets among employees. This took a lot of stress off my back as for a while I was doing everything manually, by hand, and then having to input all of this into a spreadsheet on my computer. Deputy helped make this process 1000x easier, and the price point didn't put even the slightest dent into our business's budget. Within Deputy, you can also use it as a platform to communicate with your employees as well, which is a perk if you need a software that allows you to do such as well.

Cons

I don't have any cons. Everything runs as it should!

I have shared my experiences with other small business owners. It helps me with keeping track of my employee's hours, ask questions when something looks odd and different and the best thing is that it links directly to my payroll software.

Pros

Flexibility of use on the computer or mobile device. I especially like that the fact that it links directly to my payroll software, no calculations or manual entries required.

Cons

The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't seem very intuitive to schedule shifts with a virtual organization where all of my employees can work within a standard window of hours, take breaks etc. It seems to duplicate their hours if I do put in shifts and I really didn't have time to figure it out so I just don't use this feature.

In my current role, I have the pleasure of analyzing complex business scenarios and implementing software technologies that will drastically streamline a business process, reduce resource hours, increase speed-to-market, while saving a company over 500K – 1MM on an annual basis. Outside of my current job, I have had the pleasure of reviewing my father’s small business. It is always amazing to see that the need to increase accountability exists in any small or large business. And, it was extremely apparent that technology needed to be implemented immediately into my father's small business to eliminate time theft. The 1st step was installing an iPad. The 2nd step was finding the right time scheduling software. After researching multiply work scheduling software applications, I found the Deputy Software to be the leading time schedule technology in the market! The installation and employee training was seamless and took less than 2 hours. Within only 30 days of installation, the robust scheduling software has reduced managerial and payroll time by 5-10 hours a week. All scheduling communication and work tasks are integrated into the software and directly tied to employee e-mail and texts! Time theft has completely been eliminated since installation! Another amazing feature as a manager of a small business is viewing the Deputy Application through your smart phone as you can monitor employee status at all times. I have also found the customer service with Deputy to be top notch. I e-mailed the representative a question and received a response in less than 24 hours! As a person whom has work experience in a large Fortune 500 company and also consults with a small business, I would highly recommend the Deputy Software to any business!

I have been working on taking our organisation from a paper based time sheet system to an electronic based system and needed something that would tie in with the development of our CRM & Payroll. We came across Deputy and began our trial with the premium version. After spending some time working with the premium version we chose to engage Deputy for the Enterprise version. After a bit of time developing the personalized script for our organisations needs we are ready to go live. The team has been extremely patience with me and very understanding with my many requests.

Pros

Not only is it a great program to work on, its really easy for anyone to use. I have a number of staff who have very limited I.T skills that have been able to uses the program (both App & Web based) with ease.

Cons

The only down side to Deputy is that it currently does not capture travel or meal allowances for pay processing (still manually entering into Xero after export).

Pros

This software Keeps us organized. We love the virtual interaction and giving our employees complete visibility and ownership of the schedule. Messaging on newsfeed and gets us out of text and email. We like the scheduling features and ease of learning for new employees. We are able to be twice and productive with Deputy.

Cons

Would like a more comprehensive workflow approval for managers to approve time off from the app. Something like an Inbox type feature on the app is needed. In order to approve time off now managers have to login on the computer and sometimes we are not at a stopping place to get the laptop out. The mobile features are so convenient!

Pros

Really simple interface, which allowed majority of colleagues to learn the system without too much onboarding. The mobile app allowed easy clocking in/out.

Cons

Whilst the mobile app was good, the it did occasionally have a delay in reading GPS information which caused issues with reporting, as it showed employees clocking in, in incorrect locations.
