Pros: Photos in the jobs, tracking where the workers are, favorites for quoting, notes and communication trail in each job.

Cons: The inability to modify parts of Fergus to better suit our business. We operate differently from most sparkys and plumbers, and the mobile app could be simplified for our use.

Overall: Steamlined our workload. One point for all information about all jobs. Great scheduling and calendar functions, as well as communication tools for clients and staff.

Fergus has made our lives a lot easier since moving from workflowmax. Much less manual entering.

Pros: Entering time sheets, phone tracking, integration with our suppliers csv files, linking to xero, favourites lists with materials, photo attachments. Staff reply relatively quickly to any queries and seem happy to help. System seems to constantly grow, many new features since we first signed up.

Cons: Compliance's could do with some more auto-fill features like drop downs on frequently submitted parts. Off-line ability when it comes to filling in times on a job when you're out of service and searching jobs. Apprentice on entry level subscription cant search for jobs unless he is assigned to it which is a pain (has no search bar option at all). Quotes and estimates could do with being a bit more separate as we have a different blurb at the bottom for quotes than estimates and I have to alter it if its an estimate because we use the quote template blurb. Be nice if on the desktop version you could add multiple people to a time entry like you can on the mobile version

Overall: Speeding up invoicing, better tracking of old jobs via photos/notes etc.

Pros: Ease of use, customisable, extensive features, customer support, price. No downtime, local and fast support, able to run my business off an iPhone and iPad. Integrates with Xero brilliantly, no need to manually transfer files over.

Cons: After using this app for almost a year I am yet to find a con, I have used similar programs in the past which are much larger and more expensive but don't have the Features that Fergus has. Brillant App.

Fergus just works incredibly well. Reliable floorless syncing with Xero, Best I have seen.

Pros: Upto a few years ago a big part of my business was running blind so I went hunting for a software management program to get us sorted. I tried nearly every program on the market from Tradify, Workflo Max, Service m8, GeOp and many more, I even doubled back and trialed some of them again. I ran through several jobs in each software program but just couldn't find a program that would do what I needed. They all had helpful features but none of them were as fitting as Fergus. Fergus just works well, and is getting better all the time. Quotes are a breeze and invoicing takes me about 30 mins a day. I love using fergus and recommend to any business as a must have.

Cons: The software does everything I need to run my business so cant see any cons. Would be nice if the software had a faster GPS tracking system but I am sure this will come in time.

Overall: Time sheet Tracking for me and staff, organised and nice looking quotes, quote acceptance via email, Mobile invoicing if needed, a way of back costing jobs fast and easily.

Pros: The ability to quickly change data, move info from Jobs, correct errors, share data with the rest of the team, update staff quickly via mentions, Especially Love the way FERGUS keeps improving features and adding on new functions to constantly improve the way we do things.

Cons: From the Home Screen if you type client in the search bar, it flicks to a sub-screen then to the job screen, the sub screen is too quick to click your client sometimes, it would be good if there was say an extra 2-3 seconds here.

Overall: A good way to track work in progress and schedule Labour. Would love to see more customised features around the Favorites setup for invoicing and quotes.

Pros: simple to use and ease of use. makes my business much smoother. typing this message is now annoying me.

Cons: would be nice if customers had access to post notes on a job , so as we can monitor all correspondence.
would be good if one person could insert hours for multiple persons on the online version and not app version (one click does all workers)
being able to insert your own test certificates and compliance certificates (Australia) is a massive miss.

when creating an invoice and importing workers hours it would be good if the description of what each worker did next to their hours so the client can understand what each worker has done, at the moment the hours and the job description are in different areas.

Ipad pro does not let you type in lower font when entering materials to a job

Pros: It is a one stop shop "power house" that runs our electrical and heat pump contracting business. It integrates seamlessly to Xero which has made it very simple to implement. We like the ability to track staff when required and the fact that it has a full health and safety component also. The customers enjoy the interface through email and we regard the ability of the system to track and record site related information to be very valuable for all users. By adopting this system we are now seen as professional and progressive with in our town. We are now capturing better information about job costs before we send invoices which has helped us to raise our overall profit margin. We no longer have jobs falling through the cracks at invoicing time either. The scheduling features are fantastic, all staff can see what is on for the week, not just those in the office that can see the whiteboard! The workers on the ground have access to client details which allows them to make contact without input from the office, they also have full job history and quote/estimate information which makes their job easier also. The App runs on any mobile platform which solves the android vs IOS debate, we just use the platform that we like. No software to manage is also a bonus, if we have internet access... were in business! This has been the biggest leap towards a paperless office that we've made so far. We enjoy the friendly knowledgeable helpdesk staff who always answer the phone promptly. Awesome!

Cons: Once you have published a quote, you can no longer edit it... if you find a mistake or want to add something extra to the quote. The search engine on electrical items can be abit poor, maybe it could show frequently selected or used items at the top of the search results list. The financial summary has too much information in it, it is so busy. There could be more price options, we would like to bring on another administrator on a 3 hrs per day basis and another electrical worker on a 2-3 days basis, it is quite expensive for part timers. There is no drawing software in the system for quoting, some others such as Simpro, System fox and Katipult have this on-board. (I think these are usually based on Visio). J A Russell don't API to the system like Corys and Plumbing World do, could be easier for us if they did the same.

Pros: Its functionality - it does a lot.
If we don't know how to use it, Fergus support is always only a call away with the solution.
Fergus is continually developing the software and is very user-centric in that it takes on development suggestions from its users.

Cons: I've always found GPS location is quite patchy - unreliable

Overall: Streamlines our operations, payroll, records all customer info etc

Overall experience has been great, has made our company a lot more efficient and transparent

Pros: Reporting and the ease to use it. Its transparencies and accountability has help us become a better company and manage our jobs at a higher level.
The amounts of updates done to further improve the software is impressive.

Cons: At the moment when generating from quote in purchase orders it generates upside down which is annoying.

Pros: Easy to use, dashboard easy to navigate, able to manage job status at a glance, easy assigning of jobs to plumbers, able to export to payroll system, import Creditor invoices directly to job, easy importing of price book catalogues, able to access from anywhere as cloud based, quoting in seconds, and so much more.

Cons: Nothing to report - This software does not have any "Cons" to report back on, everything about Fergus is user friendly and yet Fergus are continually updating the system in an effort to make even more user friendly.

Overall: All field staff have access to all the information required to do their job, Creditor invoices are not missed off being charged as all invoices are imported directly to job and then with a push of a button directly write to your accounting software.

Pros: Possibly the the thing I most apart from the comprehensive features would be the amazing and helpful customer support.

Cons: I find this software to be similar to alot of cloud based softwares in that it can be very slow at times

Pros: The best part is having all the administration in one place rather than hundreds of pieces of paper everywhere. It saves time in the office and is user friendly for our plumbers on the tools and office staff.

Cons: There are a couple of little things I find frustrating but they are pretty minor, one is I would like the option to use a retail minus function when invoicing, at times some of the users have trouble saving things on the ipad but I'm not quite sure why this happened.

Fergus has improved our invoicing efficiency and works well with our iPhones with minimum disruption

Pros: Well built platform that hasn't caused much downtime at all- it since well with Xero and back up service is excellent

Cons: Would like more features available to the admin/management staff from the app- such as seeing calendar view, has been quite a few bugs lately on the app too- speed up the repairs on these without disrupting our operations.. also app doesn't work well on 3G ... that is probably obvious though..

Pros: Seamless connection from the suppliers to Fergus and then to Xero.
Labour hours can be allocated, inputted they the boys and then invoiced and pays.

Cons: There are some little thing in the calender that are a bit clumsy, very limited app use for an apprentice and inputting material onto a job card though the app.

Pros: job costing, ease of crm, estimating, notes and history which recently helped me win a case in court for a customer refusing to pay based on lies. Not a problem with this software, every little detail is tracked.

Cons: no ability to set budgets for site visits or tasks. They set an auto budget based on how you built the estimate however that does little for me at all. I dont have the ability to change, assign or track the budget other than using a spreadsheet and manually inputting them. They have all the data right there it seems silly I have to do this and it would be a Huge Benefit.

Pros: We went from a single person operation to 4 people on the road and one office based team member. The old program we were using didn't have enough quite do every thing we wanted and was quite clunky on site. The way in which Fergus flows and easily displays information regarding jobs means there is no confusion on site and when used correctly office staff can collate the data to create invoices easily, meaning we can get invoices out faster and hopefully paid faster. Now with the additional benefit of Fergus offering our customers credit card payment, we have found even less reason for customer not to pay. The schedulling calander on Fergus gives us the best forsite we have ever had to see potential lead times and alsogives us a better look at keeping things ahead of jobs wth regards to ordering materials and organising other important parts to any given job. Our guys on site love it as it is super simple to use for them and realistically cuts down there paperwork too. Time sheets created off all there job data is done automatically meaning the office is not trying to get times off them each week to do payroll.
In general Fergus has made our business run smoother and less things get forgotten about, missed or overlooked.

Cons: The biggest thing that we find as a downfall would only be it is not that simple to see what price you have sold a product for previously. (Well not that we are aware of).
In saying that Fergus seem to be very dedicated to listening to what their customers want and make updates regularly, I''m sure that it will only be a matter of time until they create a tool to help with this.

Overall: The benefits to our business using this software is ultimately less time processing paperwork and data and simplicity for our users.
The other great feature of the software is being able to store job specific data like photos that are easily accessable

The customer support is responsive, and the features are more than you can ask for at no cost.

Pros: The software keeps getting better and better and my team find it easy to use. The photos on the job are invaluable for sorting out all kind of questions.

Cons: The inability to output multiple revenue streams. ie see profitability for small, medium and large projects. Would like to have three profit centres in Zero. However I am restricted to just labour & materials.

Overall: Great software, love the product and the team that supports it are excellent.

Really great and user friendly, wouldn't use any other program it does everything I need.

Pros: I like that you can quote invoice through fergus and it links to xero, also like that the job files i can add photos and messages. If I need help the staff at fergus are very fast to reply in there messenger service.

Cons: Only thing i could say is that when you up load a photo to a card file, when you need to use the photo and email it, it send a very small photo. (be better to save bigger photos)

Pros: There is so much I like about Fergus, but probably my favorite is that I know EVERY expense incurred by a job will be accounted for in the Job's invoice. Nothing is missed.

Cons: It would be good to be able to enter "Due By" dates when entering Supplier Invoices. Or have a default "Due at end of next Month" setting.

Overall: Too many to list, it has improved every aspect of our business

Pros: Ease of use and flow. All client and job information is easily accessible. The fact that the software links to Xero.

Cons: We legally have to send the Construction Act Terms with each invoice. It would be great if there was the ability to have a .pdf document option that gets automatically attached to all invoices when they are sent out. In exactly the same was the Terms of Trade are uploaded and sent out with every Quote/Estimate. Currently, I have to upload the document into every job and remember to send it out with the invoice.

Pros: I have used various platforms across a wide range of trader services, however I have never come across one that is so user friendly. It provides everything from quote, through to scheduling, GPS tracking, and email/sms communications to clients all from one platform.

Cons: no cons to speak of. Great software, outstanding support. Only change I'd like to see is ability for quotes to add suggested time for scheduling, and preferred staff to carry out job.

Overall: One stop shop for managing mobile crews, tracking, and customer communications.

Pros: The access to all the job files even when out of the office using a tablet.
The pictorial view of all your jobs and at what stages they are at.
The ease of importing your supplier invoices directly into a job.
The help support is good and reasonably quick.

Cons: importing materials into an invoice when extra materials are added after the invoice is started, you have to re-import the whole lot again.
On the schedule calendar there is no ability to indicate if a job time that is scheduled if it is fixed or floating.

Overall: Our business is now more organised and we are able to allocate different areas of the job process to different staff members as their job function requires eg quoting, doing the job, invoicing, etc.
lt cut right back on paper work and the hours entering supplier invoices into the correct jobs -now done automatically.

Pros: We really like the software as it keeps all job files, materials, labour and communication in one easy to reach system.
Its great for all staff to be able to have access to the same job information and progress.

Cons: The favourites and custom price book features seem to need a lot more work to make them easier to use, for example it would be much easier if we could add a line item or multiple line items from a quote into either favourites or the custom price list by selecting the line items in the quote. Also if you could save a favourite/ custom price book item, then edit it slightly and save the new favourite under a sub heading.

Has been a game changer for our business, i wish it was around 10 years ago!

Pros: Tracking and entering costs (both labor and materials) has made our invoicing and quoting much more accurate. Being able to set up favorite item lists makes quoting much less of a chore than it used to be as items can be just selected from a pre made list and added where needed.

Our wholesalers send us daily CSV files with our purchases which are then uploaded directly to Fergus. The Job numbers are all linked already so its just a matter of clicking a button and the materials are automatically assigned to the job and corresponding site visit.

Pricelists are also uploaded from our wholesalers so prices for thousands of items are available instantly and are up to date. This means jobs can be invoiced quickly and on site if need be.

We also use Xero for our accounting software and Fergus integrates perfectly with it.

Cons: Integration with the Xero employee pay function is the only thing lacking. At the moment all our employee times are entered into Fergus for each job then each week their hours need to be enetered into Xero again for the pay cycle. It would be great if they talked to each other so we didnt have to do it twice.

Overall: Invoicing and quoting are much less of chore and can now be done much quicker than before. This has resulted in an improved cash flow for or business.

Comments: Its great. Including the financial sectikn that shows if you made a profit on each job

Pros: The fact that it interlinks with your suppliers, and that the app shows you your tracking, that's good for invoicing and making sure the right times get added.

Cons: not any cons but adjustment or improvements, that can be made, on the maps if it can show you all your clients , and on the invoices if it could show that its been paid or voided or so would be nice.

Overall: easy way to do invoices and keep track of jobs.

Pros: A complete all round package you only need this and your accounting package. I use Fergus and Xero which integrate seamlessly together and the system can be accessed any time anywhere. Now that everything has moved from paper to cloud - nothing gets missed! Everything is loaded directly against the job and you can track your profitability throughout the project. NO more backcosting! Plus, all the timesheets are loaded for payroll - everything in the one place. But best thing is being able to call and talk to someone on the other end of the phone. Its great to be able to talk through a process and solve a problem quickly so I can return to business and get the job done.

Cons: That you are unable to change the colour of the text to make a point. For example it would be great if we could use red printing for the customers that are bad debtors and therefore when they phone a job in - it would be noticeable and easy to see.

Overall: Time and everything else said in the review.

I love love Fergus. It has made my job as admin/ops manager role so much easier.

Pros: I can now manage my time much better with the jobs costings completed in a timely manner for invoicing and can track jobs so much easier.
The reduction in data entry for invoicing is huge for me, as is the reduction of paper I had to juggle!!!. There is less chasing up of staff as to what parts they used, makes the staff much more accountable and so great to be able to see how much of their time is chargeable/nonchargeable
Also what made this system easy for me to pick up was the excellent training provided by their customer support has been awesome.
I'd fully recommend training sessions soon after you sign up, the tutorials are good too, as is the chat button when I had a query.
I wish we had gotten onto this software ages ago.....
I do so love it, thanks, Fergus!!!

Cons: Some parts weren't that user-friendly for starters until you knew what was what from Training sessions.
eg where it looks like the box is already ticked, but it means you have to click on it, I'd rather the box was empty and then you tick it for completion.
Also some of the font colours - grey - do make things a bit tricky, don't know why it couldn't all be black and the more important bits in bold??

Overall: A big reduction in time spent on invoicing, the ability to manage jobs better. Time sheets that show the staff's productivity, reporting options for WIP is very valuable at end of month.
Less data input, ability to load purchase invoices and then they can be uploaded to Xero, ability to add photos and notes to jobs, the list goes on - I Love Fergus!!

Pros: Margins, ease of use, invoicing, linking to xero, plumbing world sending through the invoices nightly

Cons: little things like i can't seem to search for the job on my app if the quote has not been accepted - sometimes the customer says go ahead and the button doesn't get clicked

Overall: Fergus has been awesome for me in terms where i can see exactly how much each job costs me and how much profit i am making per job, I like the fact i can quickly look through previous jobs and customers and see how much work i have done for them, the invoicing is great where the invoice is created so easily - and how you can alter the margins etc once it has been created

Comments: We have been using Fergus for 2.5 years now. Over that time the software has become much more user-friendly and a lot of things have been introduced. It has many issues still but for day to day operation of our plumbing company it is great. The tradesmen all enter their own job reports and Fergus tracks the gear purchased / credited to the job. Fergus staff are great most of the time, they are pretty good at listening to what the problem is, and letting us know if it is something they can sort out or if it has to wait until enough users request a feature before it will be looked at as a future improvement.

Overall: We have tried 3 other management tool's and by far Fergus stands out as the winner.
If you want something quick and easy to use on a phone it works great.
The best tool for us however is the quoting feature that then allows us to add variations to the job and all report under the one Job code - Love this tool :O)
The Support Team are always really helpful and respond quickly to emails.
I have found in the time we have used Fergus they are always enhancing the capabilities of the tool.

Pros: ALmost everything. It saves us a heap of time with scheduling and processing jobs. It is easy to use and reliable. There is alot of capacity to communicate with both customers & employees within the app. Reporting is a breeze and at a click of a button. Excellent

Cons: There are only two things - sometimes it takes more clicks than necessary to navigate around the website which is a bit of a pain. And the invoicing/statements functionality and payments process could be improved - I currently can't select for a statement for a certain time frame within a customers account and it would be good to be able to record payments at the time of invoicing instead of ok'ing the invoice and then having to process the payment.

Overall: We love Fergus - very flexible, saves us a ton of time with processing and scheduling. Could do with a bit of modification around statements/customer invoicing/payments and also the number of clicks to navigate around the site but overall an excellent app and we highly recommend it!!

Overall: Fergus is designed specifically for trades which suits us perfectly. It integrates seamlessly with Xero which means jobs are automatically filed (if already marked complete) when paid, saving me time. The Fergus staff are extremely open to suggestions and are constantly improving their product. Happy to recommend!

Cons: it has some limitations and functionality problems but I believe will be worked out in the future

Overall: Love fergus, I gave a 3 star on the features and functionality mainly for the functionality, it has a few issues and I understand your working on them but some are pretty annoying. I see the potential tho and absolutely love the program

Recommendations to other buyers: we should be able to set budgets for site visits so the guys have something to work towards and feel accomplished when they come in under budget. they should be able to see their budget and get a notification along with me when they come in under budget. It will help tremendously and increase productivity to another level. everyone is also asking me " whats my budget or expectation" and then after work is complete they want the details on how they did. It would really help with who should be given raises, how I price my jobs, and who in my crews is standing out as a high value asset

Pros: - Looking at the weekly schedule, customers call for a job and you can see straight away weather we have someone available or not.
- Time keeping is nice and accurate

Overall: We love using the Fergus system. Its very user friendly for all ages.

Pros: It covers having a customer file, GPS logs, H&S, jobs, calendars, quoting and invoicing. So I like that we only have to have one system that works really well with our accounting package.

Cons: When you get used to using something and really like the way it was but then it changes. For example, the new map.

Overall: I have used Fergus for some years now and under different employers; builders, plumbers, sparky and even a company that washed buildings and had a national team of employees to manage. It's a great all-round system which really negates the need for any other system other than our accounting package Xero. It's a lot to set up (like they all are) but once the background work is uploaded it covers so much for the team on the front line as well as in the office. Now also with H & S being added in - it really does keep work efficient. I have recommended you to over 30 people already! Thanks so much.

Recommendations to other buyers: I really like that this is NZ based and that there is always someone to respond to a query or help you if you're stuck.

Comments: It was a big call to move from my previous job management system to Fergus!
I should have done it years earlier!
I could not possibly mention all the benefits I have found since moving to Fergus.
I am more organized, as is the office staff, and my on site tradesman.
The staff at Fergus have been excellent, easy to contact and deal with, always looking for ways to improve the system and seriously taking on board any suggestions or requests to make the system work for us, and our specific needs.
The systems talk well to our accountancy package, and it is great to have easy access to all areas of my business.
Having used and looked at other similar products available, I would have no hesitation in recommending Fergus to any trade based organization.

Pros: Easy invoicing and organising job allocations

Cons: Doesn't make the coffee!

Overall: I have 2 -3 employees and I probably use only a portion of what Fergus can do but it makes job allocation very easy to organise, invoicing very easy and fast, and I can do it from my office or from the beach! Syncs well with Xero so all the tricky stuff is taken care of. The Fergus team are always ready to help if necessary (about 3 times in the last year). Never looked back!

Recommendations to other buyers: I tried for a week or so to use Fergus AND my existing procedures but should have just jumped right into Fergus, boots 'n all.

Overall: Fergus has changed the way we do business, it has streamlined so many of our old business practices. As we don't have admin staff doing book work was something I would do after hours so I could have piece and quiet going through all mine and my staffs notes on jobs trying to figure out what to charge, now its all in one place right where I need it when creating invoices.

The Team at Fergus have been great too, any issues they get sorted straight away.

I spent months looking into job management systems and none of them did what I needed or the way I wanted. Fergus does it all and its easy to use.

I took my company about 3 months to actually use Fergus too its full potential. Now after using Fergus for over a year going back over our completed jobs making sure the jobs were profitable, all of the gear we used on site, how many hours we spent.... is all at the click of a button,

Fergus push out new features regularly which make us even more productive.

I quite often find my self talking to other sparkys about Fergus and comparing them to the systems they use, Fergus definitely does go straight to the top of the list.

Pros: The ease of creating a job and adding supporting information. Then being able to assign multiple staff but at different times.

Cons: The way the discount is shown at the bottom of the quote or invoice instead of per line. Its a bit confusing for our end clients.

Overall: As our business has grown in size Fergus has helped us become more efficient. The guys have the information at their fingertips saving phone calls back to the office.

Pros: A good amount of features without being too clunky.

Cons: It needs Google Calender integration especially when inviting other parties to a meeting for a quote or job for example.

Overall: Fergus offers a perfectly scaled work flow solution to suit most small service based businesses. The best part is they're completely open to suggestions on how to improve the overall functionality of their system or even the need for new features, often integrating brand new requested features across the board within a matter of weeks.

Pros: It's easy to use and track everything you have done. The functionality for importing supplier documents and attaching files and photos to jobs is great.

Cons: I would like an undo button for when you make a little error on an invoice and don't want to have to go back and start the whole thing again.

Overall: We are a busy plumbing and gas fitting business and we find Fergus a great asset to the business. It makes all the day-to-day tasks such as booking jobs, logging time entries, tracking supplier documents, communicating with the team while they are at worksites, tracking customer details, checking past histories for jobs and clients and invoicing, nice and easy. It communicates well with Xero to make bank reconciliation and paying supplier accounts really efficient. If i have had any issues, the Fergus & Xero support has always sorted things out quickly. The main areas where I see the program could improve is some fine-tuning of the recurring jobs feature and it would be really handy to have an "undo" button to remove your last step if you make an error while working.
