Pros: Great that only users with your company's domain can join. Many apps that can be integrated with it. Reminders, slack bots are great.

Cons: On the free version, the messages are deleted after 10 thousand messages. But I will change to the paid version to have full benefits.

Pros: I like how easy it is to use on any device you have whether its your mobile device, desktop, tablet or laptop. So easy to use and communicate! Search feature is great.

Cons: There isn't anything that I don't like about the software. There are added features for price but happy with what we have!

Pros: It's really easy to use, and has lots of customization that can tailor to whatever you're doing. It's also fairly code-friendly, making it easy to format and paste code.

Cons: I'm not really sure. Sometimes when people send pictures it's a little too much to look at, but you can get around it.

Pros: There are really simple things Slack does that you take for granted until you use another chat software. It can automatically expand tweets, summarize Trello cards, snooze/set reminders, and more.

Cons: The search functionality could be more powerful, as it is sometimes hard to find older content. It could also be easier/nice to add/remove/drop people from group DMs.

Pros: Slack is both a meeting room (or more) and a virtual office where you can keep your files, easily share them with your team, create different departments to keep topics easy to follow, even use it for individual or conference calls (both audio and video)
The slackbots are really fun to work with, helping you to improve your organisational culture by personalising messages.

Pros: Slack is the most powerful software for different type of things. We are currently using Slack for collaborating and communicating with whole co-workers in our entire organization. Working with Slack gives you huge chance to get rid of email chaos and phone calls. It keeps everything in one place.

Cons: It's kinda take too much time on setup and difficult to adapt the interface at first. But anyway after learning how to do things in Slack you will see the results. It is the best one in market!

Pros: Connecting with and communicating with others is very simple. The interface for users has a very easy learning curve. I've seen a variety of people using the app despite being unfamiliar with chat/team organization apps. They typically have no issues in using it.
The app also allows you to turn off notifications and specific times! Amazing. I can't tell you how many times I've been annoyed late night chats you can't mute.

Cons: The way to connect conversations is usually via hashtagging. If people misspell something, it tends to create various, and often unnecessary, hashtags.

Overall: Communication, organization, and teamwork.

Comments: Overall it's amazing and has been a lifesaver. I highly recommend it to anyone managing multiple projects with different partners.

Pros: I am working on over 20 projects at a time and this helps keep me organized. I love that I can add a star two important items that need to be referenced throughout the project. As dialogues can become long especially when a project lasts more than a few weeks. I also really like the fact that some channels can be private or public and you can include whoever you want or not. The desktop version is also very helpful as it gives me notifications in case I miss something. I can't recommend it enough I don't know where I would be without it right now.

Cons: There really aren't too many negatives here. It would be great if there was a separate area where images and documents could be held that could be accessed on the sidebar. Also it would be nice if there was a way to have several contractors on one job but your conversations with each private.

Pros: Slack has by far the most intuitive and visually appealing interface out of all the popular chat room applications. Creating individual conversations and rooms is a breeze and works exactly how you'd expect it to. File sharing is a great implementation and allows for nearly instantaneous collaboration.

Cons: When working at a large company this can get a little convoluted. It's just the nature of the business but it can get a little overwhelming at times.

Overall: Working at a large company means collaboration can get overwhelming. Jumping from office to office is a hassle and barebones chat applications such as Google chat just aren't enough. Slack allows us to share files, create instant rooms and work together efficiently from the comfort of our desks.

Pros: Easy to set up and use. The ability to create public and private channels between users for fast communication to everyone involved. It's Free for a small company.

Pros: This messaging tool is great for technical users. It allows the sharing of code snippets and without formatting issues. It is very easy to spin off smaller conversations between team subsets.
I also prefer its ability to see historical conversations, which some other tools lack.

Cons: The only quirk that took getting used to is that notifications about new messages aren't as obvious as other tools. Sometimes I miss timely messages because I don't immediately see the number added to icon, rather than a blinking icon some other tools implement.

Pros: Makes communication easy and convenient. I can quickly check on progress of various projects, check in with colleagues at any time of day, and centralises much of our communication in a shared medium that can make it easier for new employees to catch up.

Cons: Can be overwhelming and disorganized if you don't keep up with the notifications as they come at you. If there are not well-established rules around what slack is and is not for, it can start to become a file and password repository, social space, and home of disorganized conversations spread all over the place. (The search feature helps with this.)

Pros: Easy to use, FREE, and with awesome features. I couldn't find anything like this in the market. Slack is a game changer to a lot of companies.

Comments: Switching from email-only communication to Slack has been great for my nonprofit team! Slack is similar to an instant message service, so people can quickly type out and send a message to the entire team, without having to craft a formal email. Also, because Slack lets its users create different "channels" (separate conversations focused around particular topics/themes), it's very easy to keep the communication for a particular project contained in one designated area, without creating the same bulk as you get in email, where each reply copies the increasingly long entire history conversation history at the bottom. Because of these different features, online communication in our workplace has become much more efficient and, as a result, I've found our team to much more engaged than when we communicated purely through email.

Pros: Clean and modern interface, easy to use, group communications are more streamlined than in email, and users can create different channels for different people/topics (public or private)

Cons: The notification system for the desktop application can sometimes be a bit wonky. Although the app will be open and running (though minimized so it's not actively seen on my screen), I sometimes won't receive a notification informing me that someone has sent a message in one of my channels.

Pros: I love how simple and easy the user interface is. The UI design is very interesting.
There is assistance and support from the automated slackbot which is pretty cool.

It is very flexible that it allows for a lot of free add-ons to be integrated into it.

Cons: The free version of Slack is very useful. However, the special features that come with the paid version are too expensive for my organization.

Overall: Very powerful team collaboration tool.

Comments: Per the above con, I'd actually advise that less is more when using Slack for your business. Also it's basically just IRC circa 2000 with a new UI and a monthly fee. :P

Pros: Slack serves a purpose - it isn't quite email, it isn't quite IM. The channel functionality allows for group chat and there are bots and other tools which simply aren't offered by Skype.

Cons: It can become overwhelming - it's difficult to filter through the noise and the notification customizations help but still create an inherent problem: people expect that if they tag you, send a direct message, or send an urgent message to the channel that it is received and read in a timely manner. On the other hand, if you open Slack for all of your alerts, you'll spend half the day operating out of it.

Pros: Brilliant user interface design, file handling and a massive range of integrations can make your team work very effectively in a distributed manner... if they can concentrate on the task in hand!

Excellent business features with logging and administration of chat streams

The integrations are just incredible, this tool becomes more like a dashboard and activity stream than chat app once you have it wired up to this that and everything with an API.

Excellent native applications which are consistent in design and behaviour across platforms

Cons: Some people just don't get it... treat it like another whatsapp, detracting from the task in hand.

Can easily become spammy with too many integrations adding feeds

Can be all too easy to "miss something important" because it gets swallowed up in a long chat stream. The signal to noise ratio can be poor!

Overall: High quality workplace chat application, IRC for the modern day... Can be very productive if used carefully and considerately, especially with sensible integration choices

When setup correctly slack can be your dashboard for your day.

When incorrectly used it is a horrible distraction!

Pros: Love slack; it really lets you experience the value of the product for free and that's its biggest pro. It can cost you nothing, but you get to use all of the features.. Makes communicating with your team seem fun with its color scheme, emojis, gifs, and plenty of other add-ons. Also love the long list of integrations; from google docs to setting meetings and reminders, it makes it easy to do everything without leaving slack

Cons: Does have some connectivity issues more often than i would like; also wish there were more notification options on the app.

Pros: It's clean, customizable, and relatively easy-to-use, especially for smaller teams. Centralized file-sharing and collaborative tools make it helpful to stay on top of multiple projects.

Cons: Real-time communication is pretty obnoxious when you're relying on it for 90% of your organization's communication. While switching to Slack did cut our email usage considerably, the amount of noise that a messaging solution such as Slack generates is frustrating.

It's very difficult to keep track of conversations, and with a bare bones reminder system, it's not a great tool for collaborating on multiple projects. There's simply too much going on, and too much expectation that you're "always on" because it's real-time. Slack becomes a distraction far more often than it helps ease the pain of inter-department communication.

Overall: It helped cut our email usage considerably, and makes file-sharing a breeze.

Pros: I like how this software makes it possible to have multiple conversations with various groups of people on-the-go. It is a better organized messaging service than Whats-app.

Cons: It's another app to crowd my computer/phone. I find that I use the messaging/tagging system inside Asana more than I use Slack. It's easier to just use one piece of software to communicate with my team, and Asana has more features.

Overall: This software allowed me to communicate across platforms with my team members across the world. I can easily upload images and jump into different conversations with a variety of team members.

Pros: I love the integrations. I love having it on all of my devices. I love not using Skype or another type of internal messaging platform. I love the notifications. I love being able to disable them, snooze them, set hours for them. All the things! Starring messages for easy access later is something I use a lot. File uploading is easy. I just can't say enough raving remarks about Slack!

Cons: One con that really grinds my gears is the search function. It's pretty frustrating to filter through and limited...though upgrading can help access more messages. BUT the search is still cumbersome. I circumvent that by starring messages that I know I will need later, doing so sparingly, and unstarring the messages I loop back to, complete, and/or no longer need to address.

Pros: Slack is perfect for talking direct messaging, group messages or syncing team communication across multiple locations. When given the opportunity, we've introduced it to our clients for new projects where communication is key.

Cons: The video chat and screenshare is lacking some. It tends to lag, or replace the screen with large black boxes on slower connections. Audio does not seem to be effected by this though.

Pros: The platform is very fast on mobile and desktop app. We have tried other platforms and none of them is as fast. It is also very clear and easy to use.
The main benefits is to completely get rid of internal emails. Any email needs to include a person external to the company, otherwise it should be in Slack.

Cons: Slack is the premium product in its category so it's a bit expensive.
The inability to see whether someone has seen or not a direct message is also inconvenient.

Overall: Declutter my email inbox and save time. Easier and faster for informal communication.

Pros: I like that it keeps a history of files shared. My team uses this to share larger files, and it's easy to go back and re-download something if you need it again. Works 1,000X better at IMing on a Mac than Skype for Business.

Cons: The multiple streams can get a little confusing if you have a lot of them. It's also difficult to set my status and remember to change it when needed.

Overall: IMing feature, file sharing, records of team discussions, integrates with Asana for task management.

Pros: It is an excellent alternative to any other internal work chat; It is a simple tool and very easy to use from the first moment, the chat is not cut and the bandwidth consumption is very low

Cons: If you do not hire the paid version, over time all your files and conversations are deleted, so all the important information should be stored somewhere other than the platform.

Overall: We use it regularly in the work for internal communication and with the client; It is an easy way out of any communication problem that already exists and saves us a lot of time in general.

Cons: It's hard to add a con because Slack works exactly how intended. They only minor gripe I have is that contacting customer service seems to be only through email. I'd hope that eventually they'd either have a call number or chat support for quick help.

Overall: If someone is looking for an easy and quick way to keep in contact with coworkers and/or share files, this is the best way.

Pros: For those of us who grew up on IRC, Slack is the newest upgrade. A little flashier than IRC but not in a detrimental way. Slack keeps our team moving and communicating since we're an entirely remote org. Numerous integrations with bots and other apps helps to keep everything in one place.

Cons: Sometimes it's a little difficult to figure out how to change certain settings--the menu is not entirely intuitive.

Comments: Although it has its cons, this is by fay the best IM app I have ever used.

Pros: I love the vast number of integrations, and also the ease of integration with anythings else, slack brings in addition to a very well thought-out business communication suite. Plus the free tier is so expansive, many small businesses can run their entire operation on it!

Cons: Slack "nails it" on so many things that this is a very small nit-pick. It performs quite well inside an organization, but it would be great to bridge the next gap of emailing with clients (which they might have some ability with gmail or other integration- I haven't explored it much).

Overall: This software provided a very clear and concise path to review lots of different software products. I hadn't heard of it before I was referred, but I can see myself coming here to look at reviews of business software before I buy.

Pros: We love the fact that you can now screenshare and video conference with a simple click. I also love that you can have slack notify you on key words and the notifications are so very easy to use!

Cons: Often times we rely too heavily on the software and things can often times get missed. An important conversation with a colleague can be looked over if you simply click away from the conversation. I wish there was a way to better remind yourself of important communication or a quick way to create a task list based on a conversation.

Overall: A fantastic way for companies to communicate more efficiently and more effectively with each other. It's also a great tool for uploading files quickly to your colleagues and peers.

Comments: We needed to streamline our internal communication. The ability to share documents, photos, and the occasional gif has really improved our productivity.

Pros: Slack is a great way to open up conversations, topics, etc. to specific or large groups of people who need to be in the know. lack's quality UI and UX design is is what sets it apart from its competitors

Cons: The only thing I dislike about slack is how much of my Mac's memory it hogs up. Its not a huge amount, but I feel like it's more memory than it should be taking up. The only thing I don't like is the cap for messages, and that get deleted from the history. Adding a new group is not easy and then within the group are multiple channels (as different hashtags) which is somewhat confusing and overwhelming.

Comments: If there is ever any problems in communicating with each other, start using Slack to streamline your workflows, find old messages with the great search function and share channels with people not just in your organisation.

Pros: For real, Slack is a game changer. Clearly, slack founders understood that skype is not enough for business communications. Slack is so reliable, and so good that words are not enough to describe how much I like . I like that you can easily share Google Files, from the Google drive to your colleagues in a Slack channel. I also like that you can use emojis as comments, tag certain people within the comments, and make it fun to have a conversation within the app.

Cons: Slight lag on updating my unread channels on the mobile app. Sometimes you get inundated with message

Pros: I like that it keeps all the messages that I am writing in the work groups. I like it because it is easy to share files in work groups. Also when we include a new member to the groups, the historical messages are there. I really like being able to use Slackbot, because it allows automatic activities and even greetings within groups, that makes communication fun.

Cons: I have noticed that it consumes a lot of bandwidth and resources when we want to make video conferences. When I want to add a new group, I must give administrator permissions to the user or moderator that the group needs and then withdraw it, this should not be the case. The user permission scheme is very limited. The instructions for using third-party components are not clear when I add them. In the mobile version for IOS, alerts remain as "dormant", sometimes I have to open the application to show the alert.

Overall: I have achieved better communication with the people I work with. I feel that now we are all more updated on the things we need. The information reaches us faster and the communication is very fluid.

Pros: Slack does two things extremely well. First, it provides a place where conceivably all your team's communication can take place (replacing email in many ways). You can share files, have short- or long-form discussions, receive incoming alerts: all the things you probably use email for. This may sound like chaos, which is where the second thing Slack does well comes in. Slack gives you the tools needed to filter and organize all this communication. You can create as many topic-based "channels" as you need: one for each team, project, and/or initiative works well. You'll also use "threads", a way for grouping (and hiding behind a click) replies to a discussion, so if a discussion doesn't interest you, it's easy to ignore. Finally, the search is great for finding just what you're looking for in your team's communication history.

Overall: Slack gives my team a place to communicate about our ongoing work and incoming communications together, rather than in individual email silos where we lack the benefit of collaboration.

Pros: This is one of the best programs I've used to communicate with other coworkers. Every other team chat program falls flat compared to Slack from it's friendly design to usability. It's great for creating channels for certain projects or even setting up a lunch with your team. Either way, it helps keep the email clutter to a minimum. Oh and did I mention the best feature ever? Cons: The only issue I have had with the software is that it does not save messages for very long. However, you do have to ability to upgrade to a paid account.

Pros: Slack gives our office the opportunity to communicate to each other effectively while having fun. We can easily separate into teams and communicate to everyone we need to with ease.

Cons: Sometimes it can be distracting to get constant notifications on channels you might not use. This can be easily fixed by muting channels.

Pros: Good thing is that only people with the same domain can access to slack. Easy to manage, I'm currently on the free version and works just fine. I will upgrade to the paid version and this is worth it.

Cons: Integrations are a bit complicated. Desktop version some times freezes. With the free version, messages are deleted and pinned messages can not be seen completly.

Pros: I was introduced to Slack while interacting with the Wonder research group. Ultimately, the benefits of slack come down to communication. Slack thrives on fragmented communication. It's easy to create groups for different users, create default settings for new users, and have one-on-one conversations on variety of topics. All these groups are organized in a neat, orderly fashion on the left of the screen. Slack also integrates great with my computer (a Linux Debian, Deepin), displaying if I have any notifications on the bottom right of my screen.

Cons: I've only had one issue when dealing with Slack. When I have one-on-one conversations with other users, the old messages are automatically deleted. For this reason, if I step away for a few days and attempt to continue a conversation, the individual on the other end is left confused, and we're back at square one. Also, emails can be quite frustrating, as Slack sends emails whether or not you've been tagged or messaged directly.

Overall: I'm able to communicate freely in different groups of people, all working on the same project, yet with individual questions and concerns. The tool makes organization and communication easy and simple.

Pros: We like the way we can assign projects to individuals. It makes accountability known. The tracking system.

Cons: There really isn't much to complain about. If there is it's mostly having to pay a monthly fee. Other than that it's a great product.

Comments: Overall great product, notifications and DND settings could use some work.

Pros: The mobile alerts work great. Almost as reliable as texting. I like how you can create different groups and swap between them with ease.

Cons: Sometimes group alerts will go unnoticed, but most of the time they work. Seems like a glitch rather than a flaw. would be nice if the alerts silenced while on a phone call.

Pros: The ease of use and the application is free! It is widely used in the software industry as one of the main means of communicating across teams.

Cons: What I disliked were the multiple notifications sent via email. Users who neglect to check their email will easily overlook checking Slack for missed messages.

Pros: Great combination of a team chat service with direct messages, group messaging and bots. Bot and app integration is amazing. Notification system - first sends a desktop notification, then mobile then email, making sure they're not spamming. Best customer support ever - they reply within 15 minutes and solved every issue I had.

Cons: With many teams it can be slow on desktop and buggy on mobile. Default settings can be harder to change as they're present in a couple places. Notifications with new channels need more manual work than I would like.

Overall: Replaced emailing with team members completely - at least 10 hours of weekly work... Helped find a few clients and valuable connections through Slack communities.

Pros: Love the way I can customize the notification as per my requirement. I also like the flexibility to integrate it with other collaboration & office tools. The option of integrating messages & reply inside messages is really good but can sometime confuse the user. The emoji are fun to use & are really available for the exact situation.

Cons:
The tool looks heavy while loading & the UI is not that user friendly. Many time you find it tough to navigate inside messages. Opening old messages really becomes a very slow & painful job. joining a workplace is again a pain with all links sharing & authorization concepts

Pros: The software is very well designed, easy to use and little training required to start using it properly. But a user might feel different in a different environment as we work in an IT company.

Cons: The server went offline for a few hours and we were unable to login or send and receive messages. This is concerning in case we need urgent communication.

Pros: This tool has replaced a LOT of email for us. It's so easy to send a quick message and get a reply that used to be an endless email chain. There are a ton of other great features and tools that make Slack a lot of fun and highly functional.

Cons: It can be a distraction at times with all the great features slack has built, but that is no reason not to use it - just a reason to budget your time accordingly!

Pros: Slack doesn't try to do everything, but what it does it does extremely well. Communicating thoughts, ideas, and information is a weak area in a lot of businesses, and Slack is a great solution to that problem.

Cons: Because Slack is so specific in what it does, it doesn't work for all teams. Sometimes (for OUR team) it feels like a solution looking for a problem.

Pros: We have eliminated 97% of all internal emails by moving to Slack. The speed, ease of use, private channels, guest and multi-guest accounts, and all the integrations and apps are what makes this an excellent hub for all communication.

Cons: If you do not configure notifications properly you can get too many notifications and start to ignore the ones that you really should pay attention to. Without explicit instructions, many people may not properly set up notifications to calm down the noise.

Overall: Slack has become the hub of all my communication, eliminating more internal company emails and other software notification emails.

Pros: I really like the feel of Slack, it is almost like an RSS feed and it keeps things current and in the "right now" so that as the project changes, the focus changes, and you can easily see what needs to happen now. I like to collaboration that can be afforded through Slack, and how conversational it is. I also love that Slack is great outside of an organization. Through my company, I have a few different roles, and there are slack channels available for conversation, help and helping others for a lot of my day and even though we may not have been formally introduced, we can still collaborate.

Cons: The RSS like feel of the product does make things a bit difficult for management of past events, especially if the conversation is flowing well. Management has to have a good grip on the tags in order to make sure that things are easy to navigate. I did downgrade for ease of use, we have had a bit of a problem with lost channels, accidentally removing people or yourself, and lost information but it was mostly due to user error. The problem isn't that it happened because obviously it was caused by a human, not the program, but because of how easily it happened without realization. There needs to be better warning.

Overall: This software is great for collaboration with others inside and outside of my organization and has allowed for solving some challenges that may have been difficult to find on user forums.

Pros: I like that we are able to post updates as well as give feedback to each other within the program. The different channels are nice to be able have side conversations with smaller groups of people.

Pros: It is very good for offices where people are not on-site. It allows for themed conversations in real time and we continue to use it with our off-site teams. It's interface is very nice and easy to use and understand. The mobile app is an important bonus. The flexibility of who can be in what conversation is great and could conceivably be used to engage outside stakeholders in discussions.

Cons: I found it difficult to reply to comments that were older in the thread. So you'd constantly have to say "re: xxx" before every message. Overall, while there were some upsides, it did involve having another place to check for correspondence every time you wanted to check in and the services were not enough of an upgrade of email + gchat to justify continuing to use it internally.

Overall: Very good for teams that work remotely. Less so for an office environment.

Pros: My team loves using slack for much more than chatting online. We share links, documents, code script, and updates on projects. We have also moved our weekly meetings to virtual chat rooms in order to touch base on team projects. This has been so helpful in clearing space on our calendar and leaving me more time to do my job.

Cons: There is so much functionality to the tool and they dont often communicate the many capabilities of the tool. I would love to be able to take a quiz and name all of our technology when we sign up and see the options for plug-ins or see examples of use cases.

Pros: It's an excellent way to stay in communication with people all over the country (and world -- we currently have a colleague in Europe who can quickly review communications and stay up to date).

Cons: Sometimes when the conversations in threads really get going it can be difficult to keep up with - but that can also be a sign it's time to create separate/ more specific threads, too.

Pros: This has greatly enhanced communication in our organization. Direct communication is easier, and setting up groups is great. We have channels for client specific communication, a general channel, a management channel, and even a random channel that allows us to blow off steam, send something funny to the crew, etc.

Cons: There is a limit to how many documents, jpegs, etc you can have on slack. While this is to be expected, the process of deleting items to free up space is a "one-at-a-time" process that is time-consuming and could be streamlined.

Overall: Better communication within our organization.

Comments: I suggest setting up Key Words, toying with the numerous (highly functional) 3rd party applications that can be integrated and keep the number of channels you're using down to a minimum.

Pros: Within minutes of being inside Slack you're familiar with how to use the tool. It feels second nature, including many features and functionality already familiar with us from using other applications. Awesome communication tool to work faster and smarter rather than waiting for traditional email responses which can often times take days.

Cons: The nature of using Slack is that everything moves very quickly, if you don't have set rules and guidelines for when (and when not) to use Slack, it can become a cluttered mess to catch up on.
