Pros: Slack has truly facilitated communication between our staff and being able to have both group chats AND private chats is helpful. Additionally, the channel feature allows us to keep chats about various projects organized.

I especially like that I can easily search the history to find a previous conversation or document. It's very comprehensive.

Slack has made it really easy to share and organize files, and I love being able to access all of it on my smart phone. And since the app is integrated with other apps I use frequently (e.g., Google Drive), I feel like I can be in excellent contact with my team no matter where I'm at.

Finally, I LOVE the fact that I can turn off the notifications when I need to focus (or sleep). I'm a huge fan of this app.

Cons: The only thing I don't like about Slack is the interruptions when I'm on a channel that only periodically involves me. They have addressed it with a "mute channel" option. I just have to remember to check that channel from time to time to see if there's anything I need to know about. But usually, if my team needs me, they will just engage me on another thread & then I can go in and comment.

Overall: I've gotten to know my co-workers better (we are all located in different states), and it's really helped me get quick answers to pressing questions.

Pros: All your communications for the company on one platform by category. Easy to use direct messages for more private conversations. Channels allow for directed category communication.

Cons: Users may find so many channels overwhelming. 10K content limit on the free side was reached quickly. Video content is slow to upload and view.

Pros: I love the channels that allow us to organize conversations by project or topic. I also love the integrations. We use the one with trello and also created our own to work with our custom help desk.

Cons: The search feature is not as convenient as skype. And it'a not as easy to have 'random' conversations as it is in skype.

Pros: The power of the search feature of the Slack app is its real strength. All our conversations can be grouped according to a project, subject, group or person -which makes this app a must-have for the success of our teams.

Cons: It takes a while to get the hang of the app, and many of our teammates struggle with it at the outset. After they learn the ropes, everyone uses it enthusiastically.

Overall: The Slack app keeps everyone up to date on all the many projects we're managing at any given time.
It takes a little while to get used to -but saves us time and money in the long run.

We use Slack to collaborate with our smaller team at work, ask questions and share articles.

Pros: Slack is great for talking among small groups working together on projects, and also for asking individuals one-on-one questions . It's a great way to share ideas and get immediate input.

Cons: This may sound silly, but we love to include emojis, GIFs and videos, and sometimes these things are a bit tricky or incomplete on Slack (especially GIFs).

Pros: I love the ability to jump between multiple organizations and easily add useful integrations. The integrations are what allows the app to be so useful in my opinion.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of. Some may say it can be technical but it only gets technical if you want to be a power user with a ton of integrations.

Pros: I have used to this for personal and professional means. It is a gorgeous interface. Easy to use and versatile with its file-sharing aspects. Its also has a very useful and fun chatbot AI the is easy to edit.

Cons: I think the only ways for it to be more useful is if it had some timetable project management things in the program. Its nice to make chatrooms but no way to really organize projects.

Pros: I can create different channels for different projects, interests or topics on Slack. It is very easy to create a channel. Just give a channel name and a short description. Besides, Slack integrates Dropbox, Google Drive, Trello, Github and various third-party client software.

Cons: There is so many information on Slack user interface especially when there are too many channels. At the first time when I started to use Slack, I got so confused with various channel names and cannot find want I want without the search engine.

Pros: It's pretty essential in my line of work to use to communicate with my team who are both near by and remote. I love that I can send quick questions without have to send an email every hour. It cuts down on emails, phone calls and text messages. It makes collaborating on a problem or idea so much easier and quicker.

Cons: I least like the threads that you have to click into to see. I wish there was a little more visible of way to see threads on a slack.

Overall: The benefit of less emails from coworkers in my email list and the fact that I can get an answer quicker than I would if I emailed. It's been a huge benefit to me when it comes to productivity and producing solutions quicker than I ever could of without using Slack.

Pros: I like that I can easily chat with my colleagues using Slack. I also love the features to be able to connect to Dropbox and Google drive, and easily attach photos and PDFs. The channel features for chats on specific topics is also convenient.

Cons: This may just be because my computer is a bit old, but sometimes Slack will cause my computer to freeze when opening it. Also, I do not use this feature right now but if I worked remotely it would be convenient to have video chat available within Slack as well.

Pros: My favorite feature on Slack is the ability to create Channels with different team members. I am able to send out messages to a group of employees I wish to communicate with. The pin features helps me when I want to refer to previous messages. It a great replacement to my previous workflow utilizing email.

Cons: Overall Slack is a great software. My only complaint would be the speed of Slack. It takes a little longer to load than what I am used to with other apps.

Overall: I am able to communicate different groups of team members easily.

Pros: It's like an adult version of AIM. It's very user friendly - even employees who aren't the strongest with online technology were able to figure it out and use it easily.

Pros: This was an easy form of communication for one of our teams that worked on projects in the community with houseless individuals. It was easy to use and we communicate on our phones, tablets, and laptops.

Cons: It became difficult due to the long messages and we felt we had too much to read. There may have been a way to simplify this but we were already too involved to learn more about this app.

Pros: I LOVE Slack. It makes talking with our team in various states so easy. We can organize our conversation by topic so it's easy to search/find things previously discussed and helps us track progress of things. It also has a great video feature that's extremely high quality.

Cons: You have to upgrade to look back more than 10,000 messages in your history. I also don't love that everyone is automatically added to the general thread.

Pros: Slack is a great tool to communicate with others. I think the idea of finding past discussions and decisions easily in one place is great and not something easily done with email unless you were part of the chain. I think that isn't fully understood by those that don't use Slack. Another thing that sticks out in my mind about Slack is the notification on new features. I love finding out about new features in the desktop client rather than another email.

Cons: When I first started using slack, I was a bit confused how I managed two different account (organizations) within the tool. I never quite figured it out.

Overall: Easier communication outside of email.

Pros: I love Slack! Even though most of my team worked on the same floor, this was VERY useful to getting questions answered quickly and easily. I liked the poll and side conversation functionalities as well. Very useful for working remotely as well.

Pros: Slack is the easiest collaboration product to set up and navigate. It was also very easy to get buy-in for use from our different teams as it was very easy for them to get on it and see the benefit of all using it as opposed to email or traditional chat options.

Cons: The only con that I would call out is the lack of video interfacing that Slack is without right now. I'm hoping that they provide that as a feature in the future so we can get off of the video conferencing software that is more hit or miss.

Pros: The notification capability when the app is not open on my phone. I can't always look at my phone, receiving updates in real time is key when a team is working on a short deadline project.

Comments: Overall, fantastic, simple tool!

Pros: Slack is a great team/communications/collaboration/project-tool! Love the app (for mobile and desktop) - super easy to set up, add team members, add projects, modify, create and edit channels, etc. Really helps keep track of tasks and team mates' progress/questions, etc.

Cons: The reminder feature could be improved.... Right now the slackbot offers to automatically remind you of a specific task (helpful), but unfortunately only offers specific times (an hour/next day/next week/etc.). You can set it up to specific times I believe, but it's complicated (described somewhere in support pages) and I haven't had the time to figure it out. Would be great to simply add an option "set custom time", and bam, done. So that could be improved. Minor other features (sorting and for clarity) could also be improved.

Pros: Its main objective is to centralize conversations on a specific topic and to segment the topics by level of importance. The environment is totally user-friendly and the free version, despite its restrictions, allows us to integrate software such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Twitter etc.

Cons: I use the free version and it works very well. But it would be much better to join the people in the workspaces (channels) without registering with a simple invitation through a link. Also, when I'm on a video call, I've tried to add people, it hangs up or takes a long time to make the request, I have to finish and re-do the video call.
It is an excellent tool that I can recommend to any company.

Pros: Slack is a nice tool for instant messaging between people you might work with from other companies, especially for those that may not have Skype for Business. This allows you to chat and work with others instead of emailing back and forth a bunch of times. There are apps you can add in that help you schedule meetings and share documents. With the apps, you can connect Slack with file sharing programs you might use.

Cons: It's another thing I have to log into or keep running in the background, so it's often tempting to not use it.

Pros: Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to admin. Love the UX of this app. It's modern and intuitive. I mainly use it to communicate with channel partners regarding customer cases.

Cons: I would like to get the whole company to use it but it's hard to get everyone to see the benefits. If not all use it we lose the benefits. It would be nice if there could be a way get the help to convince more in my company.

Pros: The simplicity and speed. It was easy to convince a 25 person team to switch from internal email communication to using slack.

Cons: It's a bit expensive per user. Maybe for big tech companies it's a fair price but the indie label I work for can only afford the free version.

Overall: Quick communication! Can't stress how important that is.

Pros: - I like slack because it allows you to have communications to all members of the company, that way it is easier to manage projects and internal tasks.
- Another point in favor is that it allows you to create groups, in this way you establish security levels because not all members will have access to all the information, because they can only enter the area that is allowed.
- What I like most about slack is that you can integrate a large number of applications, that makes it much easier and faster work.

Cons: - In general it is a very good and useful application, but it would be good to add calls in real time and improve the search for old messages in the chat, because it is somewhat cumbersome.

Overall: It is a super useful application to establish a communication between members of a company without the need to use the email, it gives you the facility to integrate third party applications, something that is very helpful because you handle many things with a single application, and gives the possibility to share files.

Pros: Slack was built with a very powerful software architecture in mind, yet so many individuals can use it because of its friendly user-interface. The design is very fun, playful and gives you the powerful functionality that you never thought existed. For how many use cases there are in Slack, they make the user experience very streamlined and easy to pick up. In addition, you can sync a lot of the other programs that you use with their integration features.

My favorite is the ability to keep up with internal conversations based on the topic. I personally dislike being in group chats where the conversation isn't relevant to me. It can be of annoyance receiving notifications that don't pertain to your role and you have to check and delete at a later time. With Slack, their channels can be very specific and allow you to pick and choose which ones you want to join.

Cons: The biggest takeaway is if it's not used right within an organization, it can be a productivity killer. Slack connects to both your mobile device and your laptop so if you do not manage you notifications right, it can be virtually impossible to escape the conversations that are going on. Saying this, our team implements certain hours of the day where ALL phone and laptop notifications are off. Slack makes it possible to do this by changing your modes of availability and/or snoozing the notifcations for certain periods of time. As long as you limit the amount of channels to the ones that require you rattention and don't spend your whole day falling in the trap of checking your notifications all the time, it can be an awesome tool for communication.

Slack is a great way to communicate with my co workers during work hours.

Pros: Slack is awesome, it really helps speed up communication in businesses. The channels feature is an awesome feature, which means that as well as just directly messaging other team members, you can also create channels where you can discuss other things, for example, we have separate channels for each project, and we can easily change who has access to that channel.

Cons: Slack can sometimes be a little moody, throwing out a network error when we do have access to the internet, but slack seems to think it doesn't. Normally though there will be an update available to fix any issues.

Pros: This software allows us to make different communication channels for different topics of discussion for our entire department to see. It helps us keep conversations organized by the "issue" or topic so that we can refer back to our notes down the road. I love the ability to tag people to bring them into the conversation and the ease with which I am able to create a new conversation thread. I also love the ability to connect with other people using the same software/hardware systems I am to request assistance with various issues. It makes staying connected easier and keeps costs down, I can get free support from other people in the community instead of paying a 3rd party vendor to come in or assist remotely.

Cons: Joining workspaces/channels is a little bit klunky as you need to basically "create a new account" to join them I think it would be easier to create a master "slack" account and then just join other workspaces with the 1 account instead of creating a new account in each workspace.

Overall: Simplified our department's communication and issue tracking.

Pros: Slack is clean, fast, and extensible. We love that it runs seamlessly on all platforms. After using a combination of email and various other chat platforms for over a decade, Slack has been a game changer for our small remote team. By combining chat, voice and video with channel organization and file sharing, everything we need is in one place. The cross platform nature of the service is also great as we have team members using Slack in web browsers, PC and Mac desktop apps, and Android and iOS apps.

Cons: The one complaint I hear most about Slack is that there are too many notifications. If not properly tuned to your preferences, notifications can be overwhelming but this is a problem that is easily solved by taking some time during the on boarding process and helping your team adjust their notifications.

Pros: There are literally hundreds of instant messenger out there. The thing about Slack is it has dominated the context of productive work. You use chat because you want to be productive. You message your teammates because it's part of your job and it makes your job easier. Slack keeps everything in context. Unlike using other messaging app, you can't go astray using slack. It keeps you focused on the task at hand because contextually, you're there to do work. Try using FB messenger (etcs) and watch yourself browsing your feed in less than 5 mins. Productivity is the context and mindset in using slack.

Cons: Hmm nothing much aside from the fact that it's heavy on computers if you're not using a highend unit.

Pros: It has enough versatility and program merging options to keep me from jumping into other options to get ahold of someone. It has integrated features that allow for budget requests, performance tracking, scheduling, and even tickets for work orders that hook into our Intranet.

Cons: Getting used to the notification settings and interface. Once you've been using outlook or google chrome plugins for so long, it can take a while to get used to a different look and feel.

Pros: Slack is an easy to use communication tool, in my case we use it in the company on a daily basis to communicate with the rest of the software development team and it is ideal for remote work, with slack you can send messages and make calls with voice and audio with an excellent quality, I surpass my previous Skype applications and hangouts.

Cons: To use Slack you need a good Internet connection, it is a bit heavy and the free version has its limitations of space.

Overall: Simply an excellent communication tool, I believe that more and more users come together
to slack.

Pros: Slack makes it so easy to communicate with team members no matter where we are. The mobile app works well on all devices and I've found very few bugs with the program.

Cons: The mobile app drains my phone battery, but it's to be expected with such a large platform. No other complaints!

Pros: The threaded messages and channels. I prefer this to discord. It's easy to keep everything organized between multiple departments and teams

Cons: The message limit before you have to upgrade to store all of them. Sometimes I want to see old messages but I can't search them.

Pros: It provides wonderful versatility when it comes to conversing with co-workers and peers. The many different message types allow you to keep more information organized and clean.

Cons: The desktop app leaves a lot to be desired. It can be downright disruptive with its reminders, without an option to have reminders show up without freezing the screen.

Overall: A convenient, all in one messaging app for groups.

Pros: -Mobile/Desktop/Web Apps -The ability to connect 3rd party tools -Ability to setup channels to keep topics sorted -Ability to Snooze notifications -Customization (to an extent)

Cons: -Message threading needs a LOT of work. Things can get lost in a cluster in a very active channel. -Ability to set different notification sounds per channel. Everything having the same sound can cause you to miss something in another channel than the one you are in.

I've used Slack in different types of organizations - it fits every type of business. Communication within the team is so much easier.

Pros: The ability to have many workspaces comes in handy while using it with different projects. The free plan is more than enough for a starting freelancer.

Cons: The free plan is limited to the number of messages, So I eventually turned int paid customer and It is worth it. As slack is familiar to all my clients.

Overall: Able to get quick notifications without any lag.

Pros: I like that conversations can be segmented into channels. For example, our company has a lot of channels we've created depending on the project or teams. There's a general channel for any messages we want to send to the entire organization, there's also a channel made especially for our team (editorial team), where we discuss all updates on writing, revisions, and any other messages we need to communicate related to the channel. I also love that you can tag a team member using @ and you can add different reactions to messages.

Cons: There's not much to dislike about Slack. It is efficient in what it is created to do. It is made for efficient team communication and it does just that!

Pros: Slack allows for multiple channels making working in different teams super efficient. The ability to chat, call or even video call allows us to work remotely from time to time. The integrations with various plugins allows us to setup different reminders for example and also review project progress easily with JIRA integration.

Cons: As a product designer I am involved in almost all the companies projects. My project panel can get a little cluttered from time to time with many different Slack channels.

Overall: Slack has given my team a great central communication platform for work.

Pros: It was pretty easy to use for the most part. I really liked that it integrated with so many other online tools.

Cons: While it was easy for me to learn it would have been difficult for my team to be on-boarded. That is probably because my team is a little older and not as tech-savvy.

Pros: In our office, the built-in gif functionality reigns supreme. Much to our boss's annoyance, we like to spend part of every day hanging out on the various channels we've created, responding largely in gifs. Being able to create polls right in the app is a huge plus, as well. We can quickly vote on happy hour locations or meeting times in real-time, across two level of office space.

There's even an option to create and invite clients into their own channels, which has been incredibly useful for our company over the past year or so. Communicating with coworkers and clients, other than by phone, has never been easier or more fun, especially since Slack has a mobile app with all of the same great features as the desktop version, that allows you to receive push notifications at the time of your choosing when you're away from your desk. I'd give Slack 10 stars, if I could.

Cons: There are absolutely no cons about Slack. It's fast, mobile, and pretty darn fun. I don't even mind Slackbot all that much.

Pros: We've been using Slack for a small team of developers and supporting personnel to manage communications, assign tasks, etc. We've integrated it with JIRA, which was pretty straightforward to do. The cross-platform capabilities are very good. Pricing is reasonable for features available at different price levels, with a free tier that may suffice for teams that don't need to store all of their messages or integrate with other tools.

Cons: The iOS app doesn't seem as user friendly as it could be, especially with regards to navigation- the web interface is more intuitive and quicker to use.
