As an Adobe suite user, I don't understand why they don't just include it as part of it so we can use it. Pros I like how I can drag designs from Adobe Illustrator in with minimal editing. My developers can design things more accurately when I send them XD files. Cons I don't like how slow it is, and how it doesn't work well with large detailed files. I have to separate docs to reduce the file size, it's quite inconvenient. It's also harder than it should be to animate things and to show transitions to demonstrate how something works in a new UI design. Pros I initially believed XD was solely UI/UX focused when we first started using it, however; we’ve genuinely utilized it to quickly mock up layouts of signs and makeshift mock walk-throughs for clients. I like how straightforward it is to drag in branding elements and align everything nicely. Cons It’s not print native, so it doesn’t support CMYK or big resolution necessities like Photoshop or Illustrator. It has all the fonts and colors that one can desire for something unique. Creating animations and having to preview them is another great feature I enjoy. Pros The first thing I enjoy upon opening Adobe XD is its easy to use user interface no matter what device I'm using it on. On working with it I love that it allows me to put my designs in a 3D dimension so that I can put everything in perspective when designing. It presents realness by allowing layering of objects backward and forward while also in 3D. Since I design for both Android and Apple devices, I am always happy that it contains art boards for all new devices. Another feature are the prototypes that we create, good thing we can easily incorporate hyperlinks and make them clickable. Before exporting files it allows me to change the quality of my images and their sizes with its enhanced export controls which is very useful. I have used its many features but another one I love is the ability to blur other areas while making others more focused. Cons It is an advanced solution which does not include in app quick tutorials for important features which needs much exploration on your own to maximize usage of all its features. It's much easier to use than many of the other, similar software out there and already comes with our Adobe CC subscription, making it a no-brainer! Pros I love how Adobe XD was so easy to learn to use! Since I was already very familiar with Adobe's other software, learning Adobe XD was a breeze. It allows us to create highly functional and beautifully designed websites for our clients, while saving us a lot of time! Cons As Adobe XD continues to update, I'm sure there will continue to be more and more features. Increased functionality with its prototyping abilities is one area where I'd love to see continued improvements. Product Marketing Supervisor Computer Software Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Adobe XD Has Redefined Our Web Page Development Process" April 16, 2020 5.0 I was introduced to Adobe XD during a recent college-level UX design course through UC San Diego. Our team has access to Adobe CC, so it made the application readily available for our use. Our former web page development process was a myriad of review rounds and drafted page builds that couldn't be directly commented on. At the time, we were wrapping up a redesign of our website, and we wanted a process moving forward that would provide speed and agility when building out new pages. We wanted to look at the priority and content before incorporating design elements. Now, building web pages has never been a smoother process. We first host a brainstorming session with stakeholders, then we quickly build out a wireframe using a template we created in Adobe XD, and share it with stakeholders for feedback. They can interact with the wireframe in the browser without much direction and then drop in their feedback directly into the wireframe through tags and comments. We are planning on implementing user testing with these wireframes in the near future, as well. And, thanks to Adobe XD, we can easily make this happen. Pros The user interface of Adobe XD essentially walks you through the process of building an interactive wireframe for user testing or for client review: Design, Prototype, and Share. The Design workspace provides quick tools, such as a pen, text, and shape tools, that provide us with endless editing options and templates for mobile, tablet, desktop, or custom sizes. Art boards can be arranged in sections and items can be duplicated and adjusted efficiently. The Prototype workspace provides options to link art boards together and build in the interactivity component for testing the user journey. The Share workspace provides options to create multiple review links or to update the current review link with changes. We can build out simple wireframes or design full app interfaces in such a short timeframe. Cons There is one contingency when sharing wireframes through a browser link—the stakeholder must have a trackpad or scrolling mouse to scroll and interact with the wireframe. We found it's best to instruct stakeholders to view the wireframes from their laptop. My team shared a wireframe with a stakeholder to review a landing page layout, only to discover this small bug. She couldn't scroll down or interact with the wireframe, and, after reading a lot of support tickets on Adobe's website, it was because she was using a mouse with a tracking ball. It was such a small issue, however, and it didn't impact our workflow enough to consider an alternative. Review Source Cassie S.
