Application Support Analyst: Tier II Higher Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "CampusNexus Student: Right SIS for your institution? " November 27, 2018 4.0 It's been great overall using CampusNexus Student and working with the Campus Management Corporation. They are always attentive to issues I submit, are great with providing solutions, and are always pleasant to work with. Pros I like the simplicity in setting up contact manager notification triggers as well as the intuitive permissions/security structure. CampusNexus student allows you to get extremely granular with the canned reports, but also allows custom report creation when the canned reports won't provide sufficient data. We are currently self-hosted, which gives us a lot of control on our processes without losing the customer support and assistance from CMC, the software vendor. Cons The non cloud or webclient versions of CampusNexus Student are a bit dated in appearance and functionality when compared to competitor offerings (Ellucian, Unit4, etc.). While this complaint is moot once you make the transition to or start with the webclient version of CampusNexus, the skills required to effectively use that version and all of its features are robust (Bootstrap, SQL, .net, Javascript, Python, basic HTML/CSS, etc.). Pros I like that there are many tabs and options and so much information for each student. I like that you can customize the toolbar at the top to look up the most frequently used options that are available to each user login ID. Cons There software is annoying to look up student schedules. It should already know I am wanting to look up the current students schedule, without me choosing that report then having to enter the student number again. Customizable and easy to use for routine actions. Cons Complex and inscrutable at times. Support is frustratingly inept and slow. Takes days of back and forth just to establish an understanding of the problem, then more days of back and forth to solve. Support from the software vendor is second to none. Their staff is very professional and knowledgeable about academic technology. Cons I can't speak to anything negative about this company. Pros The robustness of the program. It's a very complex and thorough database of everything the student has done since enrollment. Cons Viewing history can be a challenge sometimes. There isn't a lot of glitz-and-glamour with this system but it will get the job done. Pros It was an easy way to manage new inquiries from our lead sources. Pretty user friendly and also relatively easy to teach to new incoming employees. Cons Perhaps it was because we had too many inquiries flowing into our system, but there were occasional glitches our system which caused a duplication of inquiries. Customization and reporting is great. Being so new, I know it will continue to get even better. Cons Switching from CampusVue to CampusNexus was tremendously expensive.
