For meetings we used WebEx, and I think MS Teams is much more user-friendly, smooth, more powerful and useful than WebEx. From the IT point of view is much easier to administrate than other systems that we used in the past. Pros MS Teams allows you to have a smooth communication with your teammates and also with clients and providers. It allows you to easily set up meetings or quickly call to another user. Cons Some of the features are not well implemented I think. For example, when you go into a private chat details and "shared" tab, you can see "recent", "files" and "links", but you can't find the shared pictures easily, so if you need to find any, you only can do it by scrolling through the chat, which is annoying and slow. I find its ability to track employee's activity beneficial and time saving for me. Pros Team communication, quick messaging, screen sharing, phone calling, ease of use, and AI options are all a bonus. Cons Performance glitches, my mic does not always hook up correctly, complex permissions, and strict channel limits. The integration with Office 365 is excellent and overall it improves communication both internally and externally. Pros Teams as a full fledged collaboration platform has come a long way since the first release. I like the ability to join a Teams meeting directly from the browser without having to use a client or installing a browser plugin. It makes connecting to video meetings a breeze. Audio video quality is generally good, I haven't had any major issues to date. The floating heads in the audience mode is rather amusing but I typically use the standard mode. Microsoft has added a number of GenAI features such as Intelligent Recap which really frees users up to focus on the meeting. From a collaboration standpoint (chat and channels), Microsoft has gradually added enough features to make it competitive to Slack. They have even deprecated Skype to focus more on Teams. Cons The UI is not as intuitive compared to Slack, there is definitely a learning curve. File browsing and organization can be confusing though this can be the same of other competitors. It integrates widely with Microsoft tools, but not often as strong with third party providers. Pros The level of functionality built into the same software. Our teams can do the majority of their work without needing to exit Teams at this point. Cons It lacks in some chat functionality, and the recording experience (especially for events created within shared inboxes) is suboptimal. You need to be a M365 team to make the most of it. The other nice thing is the ability to name different chats to keep tabs on the different purposes of chats. Slack does not offer that. Cons Teams can be very intermittent with its connectivity and sometimes sluggish and laggy. It can sometimes be a little hard to join meetings. Some people bash it in favour of slack but i can’t justify the switch, since we’re hard on AD/o365 Pros The integration they did with the o365 suite and powerautomate makes it really powerful. Also the github and gitlab integrations make it super useful tool. If you’re already using the Microsoft suite, it’s a no brainer. Cons High resource usage, sometimes kills the pc due to high ram and cpu load. Beneficial that one can keep everything in one place for a project. Cons Can become difficult when arranging meetings with people outside of an organisation. You have to get used to working with the groups and individuals to avoid confusion. It has been tricky with us as the organisation limits what we can and can't share/save to Teams. It would be great if we could use it fully. Zoom has some better functionality for presenting training but as that is not our focus, Teams was a better choice.
