However, now, even when I don't need it, I still keep it in my computer and I use it as a plan B if other apps fail. I don't want to say it's bad, however, I prefer other design options Pros The product is easy to use. It's pretty straightforward, especially if you only need to attend a webinar. The set-up is easy even for those participants who are not too computer-oriented. Most universities and schools use MS Teams and as far as I know, even the youngest and the oldest members of their community are able to use this program, which is a good thing! Cons The interface and the design are not the best. We have had several people retire or quit. We were able to train new employees without the need of travel. The new employees could use the video/audio recordings to start at their new job. I receive call though it and the calendar keeps me organized. Pros Microsoft Teams has allowed our company to integrate smoothly into working from home. We hold the majority of our meetings using this software. So far I have found zero flaws. It has screen recording, audio recording, and so much more. This software has become a lifesaver for training new employees remotely. Also, it has allowed upper management to still hold their meetings without flying internationally during a pandemic. Cons I will be honest, I have zero cons about this software. It is free. It is easy. It is perfect. I would not change a thing. It was like being in the office, only the distractions. Pros It is easy to use and I am able to communicate effectively/efficiently with my team while working at the office or remotely. With the features provided by teams i.e., instant messaging, scheduling meetings, recording, sharing screen, sharing document, company wide chats, etc in person meetings are no longer necessary. If anything, in person meetings are less efficient and to the point. January 14, 2020 5.0 Overall experience has been very positive. We were able to shut down an internal policy management system that was costing us to keep up (with constant bugs) and migrate policy management to Teams (using the access restricting ability I mentioned above). You can create Teams for ANYTHING. I am part of several, all with a separate functions. Chat function makes it easy to connect with someone for a quick question or task, rather than creating unnecessary email chain. I also manage all my meetings and phone calls through Teams. Using any Bluetooth headphones with speaker/microphone capability, I can even take my calls on the go with the app on my phone. Teams even houses my voicemails. Meetings and remote on-boarding are a breeze with the screen-share capability. Sending screenshots with TMI instructions via email gets confusing fast - get on a Teams call, share your screen, and everyone is on the same page. Very user friendly and easily implemented at our business, I am happy every day to use Teams. I highly recommend. Pros The features. I know this is all-encompassing and more than one thing I like most, but you can do so many things it's hard to pick just one. Having to pick, I would say the ability to quite literally create Teams with the purpose of restricting access, limiting the member count, all with the purpose of sharing files and sites that can be equally accessible and editable. Documents updated are saved in real-time so another Team member can go in and see that you're either working on something or had just edited it. We have Teams with the entire company on it - the purpose being a hub for policies and procedures, internal software guides, career development, and so on. We have Teams with restricted access to just Career Manager focusing on specific employee and career development, senior management, C-level team access, and so on. It's a great hub for documentation storage with access control. Cons I do like the chat feature the least. It works for chatting and catching someone quickly - rather than email - however, if you're in the middle of editing a document IN teams, it can be a pain to redirect to the chat and away from that document screen. While there is a workaround for this (installing other features, pop out windows, etc.) it's Teams-specific and that's my gripe. You do have the opportunity to respond quick if you have the chat window peep turned on (alerts in the bottom right hand on the screen) but if you don't reply quick enough from that pop-up then it goes away and you need to go the chat. Mobile access on top of browser access makes this software a game-changer for our employees who are on the road or not always at their desk. GIFs make the work day more fun and status setting makes it easy for co-workers to see your status at a glance. Pros The instant messaging in Microsoft Teams is top notch. The ability to send GIFs is definitely the most loved feature company wide. Some employees have competitions to see who can send the funniest GIF and get the most likes. The ability to send full size files that upload to the cloud is also very great. Video calls and audio calls are practical and easy to use. I really love the mobile app as well, it integrates very well with Teams as whole and provides a really convenient way to message without a computer. You can also use Teams on any browser, which is a great plus as well. Cons It would be great to be able to change notification sounds. The stock sound gets quite annoying after just a few weeks. Calendar management is buggy at times and does not save certain events to your calendar to be viewable on Teams, only on OneDrive. Some of the apps that are offered are outdated and not worth the trouble getting them setup and added. It would be nice to see the ability to add nicknames to contacts. My team also uses the MS Teams Planner as a project management tool which is not perfect but it has helped to establish a consistent process for our projects to follow to ensure they meet security and legal standards etc. Cons There are several cons about the MS Teams Planner: 1. The @feature does not work when entering task card comments 2. Unless you have entered a comment in the task card you will never receive the auto generated email when new comments are entered. 3. If you reply to the auto generated email it does not update the task card. 4. The necessary project team collaboration is hindered due to these 3 cons. However, for personal use I prefer Google Meet or Facebook. Pros My work chose MS Teams over other online video conferencing software because it met privacy standards for various professional colleges (e.g., psychology, social work, etc.) It has all the basic features like video calls, chat/messaging, conferencing, etc. There are professional and fun backgrounds you can change to while working from home. Sharing your screen with clients and other team members is also easy to use. You can also change your status to offline to avoid people contacting you when you want to work. The status is linked to outlook at our organization and will show up as "available" if you are not in a call or away from the desk. Having the offline option allows you to work without others seeing your availability status. Cons MS Teams is not as intuitive as other online conferencing software such as Google Meet. It is also very slow to load on my computer and will often take a long time when starting up my computer. I may have not figured out this option yet, but I don't see an option to change the background to a personal graphic of your choice. I now use it daily to plan and out and collaborate on my clients Channels / Teams with the added functionality from Apps, Connectors and Bots ive now been able to feed in many of the Cloud Apps and Services that i use for my business so that i have all the data i need in MS Teams. Also now Teams has the IM and VOIP functions all working ready to take over from Skype for Business when it retires fairly soon i also use Teams as my communication app on top of everything else which gives you some sort of idea how much it can actually do now. Pros What i like most about Microsoft Teams is its versatility, its uses seem to be endless. It took me a while to get used to using it as its grown as ive learnt to use it. Microsoft and 3rd Parties are still adding new functionality to Teams via apps, connectors and bots and it seems to be gaining pace as developers see that its adoption is taking off which for end users is great news as more than likely you will be able to find one of these apps, connectors and bots that will connect Teams to another Cloud App or Service that you use already making Teams even more productive to use. Cons Its Tennant switching function, Guest and External users still baffle me sometimes as its not straight forward to use. If your Azure AD user has been invited into a team that belongs to another Office 365 Tennant account you have to manually switch Teams to that Tennant account via a drop down which then switches over to that Office 365 Tennants Teams channels so that you can access the channel / team you have been invited into. Its as confusing as it sounds, I still dont think this is the answer to the multi tenant problem. Although to be fair its now a lot better than it was a year ago or earlier. Then to add to that confusion you then have the Guest and External user types, both types can be invited into your Office 365's tenants channel / team but the Guest user actually will add the invited user into your Azure AD as a guest user so that user has more rights to a channel / team than an External user. External users can be invited into a channel / team but there rights are very low but the External user type is mainly for the IM / VOIP / Meeting functionality in MS Teams. You can organize each area in a team Within each team you can have different channels each channel is autonomous and has its space for chat (which is very complete with text format options) each channel has an associated email address to receive mail and they are in the same panel as the chat. You have availability to be each channel a site in Sharepoint Online to be able to assemble the library of documents for the documentation of each project or teamwork and can be accessed from teams or via web. we can add wiki, onenote, etc. functionalities complmenetos add on how to add a shortcut tab to Power BI, SP, MS Office, Planner, Jira, Open Agora, Youtube, VSTeamservices etc. which allows us to access any of these tools and more from the same channel. It has a direct Chat integrated with Skype For Business and allows you to have 1 to 1 - 1 to n and make calls and conferences. when creating the team, it has an associated agenda and you can conduct meetings via Skype for business without needing to use the Skype Forbusinees application. adicioanla has notifications, file repository for each chat, I really recommend it as a functional tool for teamwork. Cons that the conversations when it happens a lot of time to have had them, the files and notes exchanged disappears from the panel, is one of the few things that would change him. the mobile client is a bit unstable, I imagine it's a problem of being so new. Just one important thing that shall be fixed on priority is the screen sharing lag which brings in problems when we are in middle of meetings and try to share some presentation or our desktop. Other than that, the application is working great! Pros 1\. Build quality: of this tool is one of the greatest. The user experience is very well taken care of and the entire workflow/ tabs/ menus are intelligently curated. 2. Seamless integration with Microsoft products like outlook. You will feel the integration is very smooth and at times won't even notice how different applications are working together in conjunction to give the best user experience. 3. Teams and channels: is also a great concept. Separate teams can be made of individual groups and further down, separate channels in those teams can be made separating on the work being done. Cons 1\. Lags when presenting screen: is something all my colleagues have noticed. This is a software problem and can be easily resolved with refactoring the code. 2. Heavy compute power will be utilised with the standalone Teams application: With this application running actively or in background, you will see serious compute power being consumed. The mobile app keeps me connected when I need to be away from my computer, which has helped productivity significantly. Pros This software has everything needed to effectively work in one program. The application allows for excellent communication and collaboration for different groups and projects. Teams can collaborate through posts, files, making different channels, or even an instant meeting. Being able to store a file within the Team and have multiple people accessing and editing while seeing what others are working on helps to ensure that version control is achieved. The search function works very well and can bring up people or documents based on keywords. The chat function allows for easy communication throughout the day with multiple people (or groups of people) and has the fun ability of being able to include GIFs for those times when words are not enough. The ability to add other apps into Teams and have them all available at your fingertips adds time savings. The mobile app has all of the functionality of the desktop version, and the switching of any meetings, calls, or chats between the two is seamless. This is a huge advantage when you are unable to be on your computer, but still need to be connected to files, chats, or calls. Overall, a great tool for collaboration of teams, especially with the future of remote/hybrid workplaces. Cons Chat function: While you can pop out individual chats, you cannot group the windows together outside of the main program. If the entire "chat" feature could be popped out of the main window, this would be a significant improvement. A tie-in to Zoom to show when one is on a Zoom call that isn't scheduled would also be an improvement. Mobile App: The mobile app is overall great, but oftentimes the "status" gets stuck on the mobile app. Sometimes the only way to resolve is uninstall and reinstall to force the status to change. There is no way to get rid of old notifications if the company has a retention policy in place and you miss the message before it expires.
