It feels like Microsoft tried to pack way too many features into a single application without optimizing how it actually runs. It gets the job done for basic corporate communication, but the constant lag and heavy RAM usage get annoying fast. If I just need to jump on a quick, stable video call with a client, I will almost always choose Google Meet over this. It is a necessary tool if your company forces you to use the Microsoft stack, but it definitely needs better optimization

Pros

Having chats, video calls, and shared files all in one place is convenient, especially if your entire company is already deeply tied to the Microsoft Office ecosystem. It is also nice that it connects with Power Automate, which gives you the potential to automate some repetitive team tasks and notifications, even if it takes some effort to set up

Cons

The desktop application is a massive resource hog. If you are working on an older or slightly weaker PC, just having Teams open in the background will slow your whole machine down. The UI is also quite clunky and unintuitive. Even though I like the idea of Power Automate, actually building those integrations is surprisingly complex and not user-friendly at all. Also, for video calls, it just isn't as reliable — Google Meet runs much smoother and is way more stable

Overall I find this a great way to keep in contact with my team and I am constantly finding new features.

Pros

I like using Microsoft Teams because it is an easy and efficient way to keep in touch with my team. We are able to collaborate on and manage projects no matter where we are in the world.

Cons

It did take some time to get used to how to use it. I am not sure if i am even using it to its full potential right now because I am still learning.

Pros

The amount of integrations and tie-ins with the rest of the M365 suite is superb. I mainly use M365 copilot to search teams for pertinent information.

Cons

The software itself - it has all sorts of constant, nagging bugs. Freezing, crashing, video stops working - audio stops working. All sorts of issues with the software.

Overall I was not a huge fan of Microsoft Teams with all the bugs & crashes, I much prefer using email and Google drive/workspace to share information.

Pros

It was an ok way to communicate with team members at my old workplace. I liked the ability to add tabs of information for everyone to see & share as needed.

Cons

It had a lot of bugs and was always crashing or not working properly especially during a call and other times with just normal chat features. Ran very slow

It's been solid - I love that everything is encrypted, and that means that we can chat securely, about things that are sensitive.

Pros

I love the fact that you can securely collaborate with your teammates using encrypted chat, from a trusted company. It allows us to collab securely, while also maintaining communication effectively. There are plenty of customization options, its easy to use, and it's a solid client for the low price. Helps make project management a breeze.

Cons

Sometimes the updates can break the client, or occasionally take away features that may have been useful.

Overall, Teams is a solid, reliable tool that gets the job done. It takes a little time to get used to, but once your team finds a rhythm, it’s a great all-in-one hub, specially if you’re already in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Pros

Teams is really convenient if you’re already using Microsoft 365. Chat, meetings, calls, and files all live in one place, which makes collaboration easy. The integration with Outlook and OneDrive is a big plus for scheduling and sharing docs, and channels help keep conversations organized by team or project.

Cons

It can get overwhelming if you’re in a lot of teams or channels, and notifications need some fine-tuning. File organization isn’t always intuitive since everything runs through SharePoint, and there can be occasional lag during large meetings or screen sharing.

Overall for businesses its understandable way it's the standard. Functionality wise, it works as needed for instant private/group messaging and video conferencing. Integrations are widely available if you need to connect it to any 3rd party applications. Its modern and feature full but the definition of business/corporate.

Pros

Comes included with every M365 subscription/plan and allows chat and video conferencing. The overall meeting function works as expected and UI is pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. During a call you can screenshare, chat, or transfer files if needed. Chat UI is pretty clean and has all of the most common functions. Ton of 3rd party app integrations available which is nice.

Cons

Teams channels are the worst thing ever. Its confusing to manage and buried under a separate section that you have to dig into to get to that chat. It's kind of confusing when you want to start an ad-hoc meeting and customize the meeting settings ahead of time. It's also supper annoying that it always ask you how your Teams experience was after every single meeting/call. The active/away status is unreliable.

Alternatives considered

Reasons for choosing Microsoft Teams

Slack was an additional cost and Teams is already included in your M365 subscription package.

Pros

Teams made it easy to move seamlessly between chat, meetings, file sharing, and collaboration without switching platforms. Having conversations tied directly to channels and shared documents helped keep projects organized and provided clear context, especially for ongoing work.

Cons

\- Inconsistent file experience: Files lived in SharePoint under the hood, which was powerful but not always intuitive, especially for users unfamiliar with how Teams and SharePoint connect. - Chat sprawl: Conversations could become fragmented across channels, private chats, and meetings, making it harder to track decisions over time.

Incentivized review: software users are invited to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive for their time and effort. All incentivized reviews are subject to our verification process prior to publication.

Teams has been one of the ways to communicate and networks with those at my job. Management prefers communication through teams

Pros

I have used teams for team meetings to help with team collaboration. I have also used teams to facilitate training and to meet with clients virtually. Teams is easy to use and cost efficient.

Cons

Teams has been lagged mainly due to my internet connection not teams itself. Internet based applications can sometimes have those issue due to connection.

Pros

We have the teams phone and frequently use video calls for our client meetings, I also have teams on my phone - I love how seamlessly apps work together

Cons

To our knowledge, there is still no ability to create "office hours" so that phone calls go directly to voicemail at night and on weekends.
