You just apply you Facebook experience and you are active on Workplace. It a Private Facebook which only employees can access. Cons Marking notifications as read is something missing. For example, I posted 50 photos from an event, and with all people liking photos individually, i have a long list of notifications for likes that I'll never check. if only I could mark them as read, it would be great. May 9, 2018 4.0 Pros The Workplace features and functionalities are what I like best because they're more unique than other programs. I've used Slack which I've seen vastly improve company communication (in terms of speediness + efficiency) and company culture (due to GIFs and groups)... I've used Basecamp which has incredibly improved project management + clarity. Workplace, though, is specifically good for onboarding and training. I love the poll feature, too, and I haven't seen that used in other programs. However, the poll feature should be used for strictly non-emotional topics. I've used it to get my team to choose a preference in a date or a time or a food option. It shouldn't be used for diverse or political topics. Pros This platform is very similar to Facebook. This made most users instantly understand how to navigate and use the tools. The ability to build groups within the team is great for getting the proper information to the proper employees without having to read through posts and news that was irrelevant. May 12, 2021 5.0 The main problem that we have with Workplace is mainly the Alumni issue. Since Alumni are now not able to login to Workplace, it requires us to migrate our Alumni group to another platform. The main benefit of Workplace is that it is a free platform that help connects employee together. Employees are not required to be trained to use Workplace as it is similar to Facebook. I don't believe that there are no products out there that is better than Workplace. Pros Workplace by Facebook is a free on-the-cloud system. At Agoda, we use Workplace to connect to each other for non-work-related stuff. Since Workplace is created by Facebook, every function and UX design for the system is the same thing as Facebook. Since everyone knows how to use Facebook, new joiners easily known how to use it without question. Workplace also supports integrations from other software through API such as Workday. Cons I really cannot complain about Workplace as it is a free on-the-cloud system. However, recently, Workplace doesn't allow the company Alumni to use the company Workplace anymore. This makes sense but it causes us to migrate from our Alumni group to another platform. Nevertheless, we will still use Workplace as our non-work-related channel. One other critical thing that I dislike about Workplace is the admin platform. The admin platform is kind of difficult to use. For example, when you want to search for an employee by email, it's kind of hard to do. I think Workplace should allow free search and be smart enough to decide what the user tries to search for. I think it is successful and a great idea for younger adults looking for jobs since Facebook is such a big deal. Pros I love that Facebook decided to do workplaces. It makes it so much easier to find jobs in my area and to apply for them as well. Cons No cons at all. They have it together and it was a great idea for them to do this on Facebook. It was an easy tool to set up, invite colleagues and to use. I love that its a great tool that supports various types of media. Its an informative tool which we use to post new memos and it stays both fun and the professionality is not reduced in any way. It's a great productivity tool that adds great value to any company, firm or industry. Cons Only that the only limitation is that it requires a steady internet supply to function well and an good internet connection is not always available. Also, I find the many email notifications particularly annoying. Pros Since this is literally Facebook for work by Facebook, it's good if your company places a high value on being social. Having non-business interactions, sharing common interests, and giving each other kudos for jobs well done can be useful for keeping moral up and inviting employees to get to know each other. Cons It may be for the office, but it's a social network platform. It's TERRIBLE for sharing critical information, and not effective for even general news that you want more of your folks to set eyes on. It allows us to quickly solve each other's questions and stay focused on our collective goal with the company. Pros What I like most about using Workplace for my virtual job as an Internet Rater is that is keeps me in touch with my coworkers in cyberspace in a manner similar to Facebook. Workplace allows us to post job-related updates, filter, moderate, and block unnecessary or inappropriate chatter, and stay p to date on changes with our policies and assignments. If any of us has a question or a concern, we have several other team members at our fingertips to whom we can relay our issue to and receive feedback/solutions relatively quickly. The Workplace program also allows us to see who holds what position, which is useful in case something needs to be escalated. The inclusion of a messenger program similar to FB messenger is beneficial as we can form smaller teams or sub groups. Cons I have only been using Workplace for a few weeks and have yet to find something that I dislike or would like to see improved. It's easy to use for everyone because everyone knows Facebook. The layout is nearly identical to it's social version, so we all picked it up quick. Staying in touch with other departments has never been easier or more intuitive. For me particularly, it's great because I also take care of our social platforms. It's a seamless transition from connecting with distributors and connecting with employees. Cons If you're looking for a more in-depth program (i.e., for project management, time management etc), Workplace probably isn't the best fit. It's pretty much just Facebook, but meant for use within the company. Its also a great tool to call/message other employees who you may not know personally or have their contact information. We have used it to post critical information and get it to our staff in a quick and timely manner. It is also easy for most people to grasp how to use since it looks and feels like facebook. Cons I wish there were more ways to decide what type of notifications you receive. Naturally, collaboration has looked different this past year, but Workplace by Facebook has been an awesome tool to stay connected in more day-to-day ways -- of course we have our virtual town hall meetings and team syncs, but with Workplace we have groups set up for sharing victories from different regions, pictures of our home office setups, and we can comment and discuss the really important topics like the best sports teams. Workplace has created that "water cooler/break room" vibe again on the team, which helps us to be more connected as a global company and to be able to collaborate better on all our projects. Pros The ability to share live videos and our own photos and content has created a huge community feeling within our global and largely isolated team members. I enjoy the ability to have groups for each region in our company so we can see what's going on in our America team vs Australia vs Europe etc. Cons I didn't like that it wasn't the most clear at first which group I was looking at, but I figured it out and it's a nonissue now. You can share as many pictures as you might want or videos it doesn't have a limit. Works really well since we have a lot of work-from-home remote staff and they need a place where we can communicate just about anything outside of work and get to know each other more. And it has nothing to do with your personal facebook account, which is awesome, because not everyone wants to connect using their personal facebook.
