Anything with walk in traffic and random misc invoices will be impossible to find later and make life hell for users. Pros Not alot of great things to say about it... does the job for what it is and has decent accesibility but very mid product. Cons Searching for invoices, the QR code for payment, Invoice design, cant preset taxes per customer with excemptions, hassle to track items, customer support is brutal and very disappointing to deal with. Desktop is GREAT" January 23, 2026 1.0 Sage Online I would never recommend it is horrible, unreliable, frustrating, the worse online accounting software I have ever used. Sage 50 desktop I highly recommend. Pros Access anywhere, can see if client opened the invoice or quotes. That is the only pro to this software. Cons Unreliable, if there is any internet issues or their server issues, you may have duplicated or dropped entries. Server is slow. Careful when entering just a slight touch of a key and you may post something unintentionally or incomplete. File capacity for attachment for invoicing is too small. You have to attach multiple files and the allotment for that is too small. I end up emailing customers their files. Waste of time and irritates my customers. There is also not a proper receipt to send to customers. Too many steps involved for everything, you cannot see more than one thing at a time. For example open 2 tabs for comparison. The desktop version is superior. Cons I can't upload our bank feed as it's from a credit union. I'm not a huge fan of the bank rec process. I'd also like the ability to create custom reports. I was terrified to start but im almost done 2025 and i feel better. So sage helped me i did try quick books nope not for me. Pros The ease of the program I like using Sage because it keeps my bookkeeping simple, organized, and easy to manage. Instead of overcomplicating things, I can enter my transactions in a way that makes sense for how I actually run my business. I prefer working with monthly totals rather than hundreds of small entries, and Sage allows me to do that while still keeping everything accurate. Cons Cant think of anything so far as i am still learning as of now im happy with it and the help links make it even better. April 24, 2026 5.0 Sage Accounting helps me get through the tasks of the day easily and quickly. The updates always change something for the better and any problems I have I know I can just ring up Sage and their knowledgable support staff can guide me through things or log in and sort it out extremely quickly. Pros I've used Sage Accounting for 15 years and the software is second to none. The screens are easy to navigate, the reports are easily managed and amended to suit the client, it saves time with inputting when you can memorise a screen for future use. The customer support is exceptionally good. It enables me to log in and look at my clients accounts without having to visit their offices which in itself is time saving as I can spot any errors quickly and readjust where necesary or talk them through how to correct it. Cons There is nothing I dislike about Sage Accounting. The design, the navigation and the ease of use has kept me using Sage Accounting for 15 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. And the chat is not helpful because most of times, people on the other side are far away, doesn't understand the problem we have and have a very basic knowledge about the product. It seems that they even don't talk the same language than us. It appears that it's a machine that translate. And it doesn't translate well. Pros There is nothing I like in the only affordable version. Don't forget this : if we use the basic platform is because we are not professionals. We run small businesses and we do not have the luxury to waste time with a system that is not easy to use. Cons Unfortunately, we need an accounting system but I'd rather use any other than yours. The only thing that retains me is the time needed to migrate over another platform. But be sure I will do as soon as I can if you don't review the whole thing to work better and be more user-friendly. This way I know when my customers get my invoices. Cons Trying to get a hold of customer service is a nightmare. I have had issues in the past and really needed to speak to someone and it was really hard to find any phone numbers or any contact info to help. I neded up figuring things out on my own but it took longer and was not easy to do. The Transaction Manager constantly stops working and slows things down. That being said, it is an easy program to use and I love the configuration for Sage Cloud. Cons Sage has a habit of constantly deleting clients. We have noticed this over many years and can't seem to find out why. I also find that it will randomly stop working. I am retiring and the contract with the main consulting customer was expiring. My own business is now inactive and will cease to operate by the end of the year. Pros The cost of the basic on line version was reasonable. I was able to transfer info from Sage 50 fairly easiy Cons I found the bank reconciliation to be rather convoluted. I found the bank reconciliation a bit difficult with the dates. Do not like that if you approve a bank transaction in the banking feed past the end of the month when you do the reconciliation ending prior it will not allow it. I stayed to it because it fits my needs as a small business. It is very easy to use and understand accounting, even for someone who is not familiar with accounting principles. There is always a way to get help and guidance. Pros It is worth the investment. Simple to use, every step of accounting, and you can choose which topics you need and adapt to your business . It does all the steps from invoicing, connection to your bank accounts for conciliation. It is possible to connect to all your bank accounts and credit cards for automatic conciliation, always keeping track of your expenses. Cons It provides all the financial information and you can pull reports. However, the type of report is simple, I often have to export to Excel to make it more fancy for a presentation. I run another company that uses QuickBooks and Sage has a much better user experience. If Sage would read AP invoices I would be super happy. As noted in another comment above. Pros Easy entry, shared experience with accountants. UI is really good. The value for money is good. Online access is very stable. Cons It doesn’t automatically read invoices. You have to buy from a separate company while QuickBooks does it out of the box at no extra cost. Custom reporting is still problematic for me. I can not seem to be able to run reports on the various tags and projects I put into the system.
