Business Owner And Senior Bookkeeper Accounting Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Why Sage Business Cloud Accounting Is the Best Solution For Independent Bookkeepers " April 26, 2023 5.0 Sage Cloud Based Accounting - runs not only our own business, its client structure and management thereof, it forms a key central hub from where we can deploy the various other Sage functions we use for our clients be that accounting functions, CIS, Payroll, year end accounts, VAT etc. Put in concise words - one log on - one hub - everything contained within it. It liberally is a one stop solution for a bookkeeping or accounting practice of any size. Pros Sage provides a one stop cloud based solution with the power to tackle the most complex clients and the ease of use to mean that using it is not a chore - its well laid out, graphically pleasing and the menus have a logical and intuitive structure - it is easy to gain proficiency in its use and deployment and its advanced functionality is attainable without too much head scratching. Customer service is world class - and support features such as Sage University and Sage Champions are second to none - all in all its a mid-price point software package that does it all as well as anyone and often a great deal better backed than any of the competition, and it is backed up by the best aftermarket support package, customer service structure in the marketplace - with Sage you are never alone - they back you 100% in supporting you and your business and that alone is priceless in this day and age. Put simply - Sage is pivotal to our success and without them we could not do what we do. Cons No - I say no because Sage are good enough to listen to improvement suggestions from end users, log them and incorporate the key ones in their roadmap - again the transparency of Sage and the inclusivity means that any teething problems are documented and supported until they are untimely resolved. Reason for choosing Sage Accounting I have used Sage in its many forms for a long time - I have clients who used many of the competitors software, QuickBooks, Xero, Freeagent etc - and all of them have switched to Sage since it became cloud based. That was the one weakness Sage had previously, it was desktop based- now that is gone and as for the rest of the functionality - Sage beats the other providers big and small hands down at a price that is on point. Sage does exactly that for me and my business! The most tedious task that I have to do, is just made so much easier for me, compared to the days in the past when I had to hire an accountant and fill in spreadsheets. IT has more than paid for iteself with savings from having to keep an accountant on the books. Pros For someone that has never used accounting software before, I was up and running within 30 minutes and had my first invoice wnging its merry way to teh client to be paid. With very helpful customer service checking in on me in the initial period, I was able to get the rest of the package set up quite easily, including being able to do my VAT returns easily. Great software that does everything that a small business needs! Cons To be honest, y grumbles have been few and minor. The big things it does well, but sometimes I just confused by the numbers it displays but that is more often than not finger trouble in displaying sort orders of the date column. Accounts Manager Events Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great Accounts package for every business" March 12, 2024 5.0 Having used several different accounts packages my experience with Sage has gone very well, the initial transition was a little tricky as with any package when switching across but once set up soon got to know way round the package, able to set up ledger names that we wished to use. Excellent customer support with very experienced advisors who offer second to none service when assisting with issues. I am happy with our Sage package and will continue to use most definitely. Pros Sage is very user friendly, great customer support always on hand to assist with any issues. Clear and concise ledgers and reports, can set up pretty much how the company wants opting for specific names ledgers. Saves time as Accountants can access the accounts to prepare end of year saving time. Good all round package especially for the smaller business. Cons To be honest there is not much not to like about Sage, some of the invoicing elements bit clunky for example if you need to change Clients name on a specific invoice no facility to do this at source rather than go back into Customer record, lot of columns look messy if a balance if not being out on each line. Would also be advantageous to prepare delivery notes prior to invoicing as in our business goods are often sent before invoicing especially for Clients on account. Found the Stripe a little complicated having to download CSV from Bank Account, however currently do not use this facility. They have threatened cancellation because of perceived non payment of a couple of pounds. This system is well designed to make accounting easier. Pros It is easy to set up and use. Because it is an online system it can be accessed anywhere anytime. Cons They do have some issues with slow or degradation but have been working on this. Director Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "A good all round accounting product, good integration, but pricey as the users increase" November 22, 2022 4.0 We replaced Sage50 with Sage200, and also Sap B1 was migrated to Sage200, with the help of Sage partners at TN4 this was a relatively pain free migration in all cases, and they all worked well to meet our timescales and requirements, as well as helping us find other partners to integrate Sage200 with other related solutions such as barcode scanning, shipping, and MRP solutions that are not in Sage out of the box. Pros This software does everything a small, medium or relatively large sized business would need. The backend database is SQL server, so it's fast and well structured, and we found lots of modules and external products integrate well with it. Cons Implementation and training needed external consultants to do it at scale and at speed. The licence model is per user, so as soon as you start adding quite a few employees the cost of running the software gets rather pricey, though it's comparable to SAP B1 for example. We used our own servers to host the application and database, and although it's called "cloud" it's really not, but perhaps in the future. Very few errors have happened to the software, since we have moved to the cloud. So Good. Pros You can log in from anywhere. Take on is easy. Invoicing is simple to use. Allocating receipts and payments straight from the important bank statements makes processing easy Cons The stock system does not intergrate well between the stock holdings and values and the balance sheet. Extra modules are required for this basic function and this does not always solve the problem. This results in clients needing to continuously reconcile stock to balance the Inventory Valuation to the Inventory Ledger.The project management systems need to be improved so individual and multiple projects can be quickly monitored in an income statement. It also made it easy to track down errors that I made during inserting details and it was less time consuming to ractifiy the errors. I loved that it easily integrated with our existing business. With internet access, the software is accessible from anywhere and is available on mobile devices. It makes bank reconciliation and invoicing easy. Pros Installation and implementation are easy. I like that the features are easy to use even for non-accounting persons. It enables real time sharing of files with clients and colleagues which saves on time and eliminates the need to direct email invoices. This makes debtor management easy and less costly. Accessibility from a mobile device is a huge plus when one is on the move. The software is also affordable and has a free trial. Sage has good customer support. Cons Since the software can only be accessed online, it is difficult to work with when internet speeds are slow or when there is no connection at all. Sometimes bank sync feed is slow and the handling of foreign currency bank transactions could do with some improvements. When it receives updates, they are quick and painless. Our staff are all used to the software and seem to enjoy using it. Pros There appears to be a lot of thought that has gone into the layout of all the screens. They are so easy to navigate and we've found that our accounting staff were very easy to train on it, which is a great sign. Cons Time tracking would be a nice addition to have. I like the ability to access it anywhere and the ability to attach documents to transactions in the system. Modifying the chart of accounts was easy but the lack of customization on the layout of financial statements is frustrating. Pros We have used the software version of sage products such as Sage Business Works and Sage 50 so the product and company are familiar to us. The ability to login to the software from anywhere and to no longer have to have client/server environment is great. The software was easy to signup for and was relatively easy to implement. Cons There are 2 large cons to this software in comparison to it's direct competitors. Con #1: The package has no ability to custom group GL accounts. So for example, if you have a section on your income statement for sales and you want to group sales by category and have a sub-total for that sales section you cannot do that. There is really no ability to edit the income statement layout or the balance sheet layout to add in sections and sub totals so you are stuck with the canned version of the software. Con #2: In an environment where you have multiple small companies, you look after you cannot have one userid and password to access all the companies. You have to setup each company with it's own userid an password then invite another user via an email link to join. I had to change to QB because of client requirements on one client and had a hard time making the transition. Pros I really like the reporting function and the ability to be intuitive in creating my chart of accounts and general ledger inputting. I like to do things by monthly date and the program allowed me to do that. Cons very pricey for our needs. Pros Ease of use. Speeds up reporting. I have worked in a large organisations previously and this software generates the reports I was used to seeing as standard. They are standard in my chosen package. You can call up latest bank detail automatically from your bank. Monthly payment option to use the software. Instant access even when you are out of the office, via the app, for viewing status of invoices. Cons Cost increase every year without option to debate it. I do not need anything more than I have been using in the original package. I only use this software for convenience and could do all the work manually. The bank feed has failed a few times. Support has always sorted for me but it is always inconvenient to have to trouble shoot and takes time to sort. Reason for choosing Sage Accounting Ease of use. I like how easy the features are to use, even for non-accountants. It enables clients and colleagues to share files in real-time, saving time and eliminating the need to send invoices via email. This streamlines and lowers the cost of debtor management. When one is on the go, having access via a mobile device is extremely useful. The software is also reasonably priced, and it includes a free trial period. Sage's customer service is excellent. Cons One suggestion is that when adding a new Item from the Invoice screen, the new Item screen includes all features (such as selecting the Purchase account). You must currently exit the Invoice, create a new Item, and then return to the Invoice. It enables us to manage our accounts from any location and using any device. It also relieved us of the responsibility of backing up and protecting our financial records.
