April 22, 2020 5.0 As a career BestCase user I was reluctant to switch, but after using NextChapter I wish I had switched sooner. Pros The software is very easy to learn and use. My paralegal and I love the flow of the interface which make data entry smooth and easy. The customer service and tech support are super fast, friendly, and helpful. Cons I have nothing bad to say about NextChapter. January 13, 2020 5.0 From the great product to the wonderful customer service professionals, this is the best bankruptcy software I have used! Pros Next Chapter turned the bankruptcy software process on its head! In the best way! It gathers the information once, and files the forms as needed, rather than requiring the user to enter information multiple times or in multiple places. The cloud-based system means I can enter, review and even file cases from anywhere I have a laptop (or iPad or phone) and an internet connection! I have used the software on the beach in Hawaii, and even filed a case from the main stage at the NFL Draft! I can't begin to say enough good things about this software! I like that I am able to preview and if something is incorrect, with just one click I am able to get to the schedule or statement to make my correction. Pros I like that I only have to enter the information in one location and it automatically places it whereever else it is relevant in the software. Cons The exemptions that we use are not alway correct in the software. I have to old school it and look up exemptions to ensure I am using the correct one. Pros The cloud implementation is a life changer for a small firm. Even before everyone was working from home, the ability to jump online and work on cases anywhere was great - now its a necessity. Also, they are constantly improving it. Every few months there's some upgrade that adds features. Finally, the customer service is top-notch. Any time I've run into a problem I've been easily able to get a hold of a real person and have them walk through the resolution with me. Cons Connecticut (where I practice) has some unique requirements with filing Chapter 13 plans, which still require a bit of a work around; but I would need to do the same thing with any other third-party software platform. I just really hope now that the company has been sold it continues. Pros I appreciate the PACER downloads and knowing that all Pleadings and Orders can be obtained and downloaded into our network. Additionally, the fact that much uploading of information is dispersed throughout pleadings by the program is helpful. Cons There are many improvements that would be helpful. Separately listing proofs of claim, not duplicating downloads if multiple attorneys are on a case and ease in printing would be helpful. Creating, amending and modifying chapter 13 plan is great. I like the fact that is stores all documents filed with the court Cons This a difficult question because I consider this software the best. Best Case might be a better product, but only if you are a one attorney, one computer (that's a PC), one office, no support staff, law firm. But who fits that criteria? And, that's why I switched. Since it is browser based cloud software, I can work on any computer, whether Mac of PC, and I can work anywhere I have an internet connection. It also syncs with Clio, which is synced with Lexicata, which is synced with Call Ruby - enter info once and you've synced across multiple platforms. Cons Was a little buggy at first ( 2 years ago), but rarely an issue any more. Tech support is always great at fixing it, and they are continuously improving the product and receptive to user-requested changes. I've been blown away by the incredible service and how quickly they respond to issues or questions. There are some glitches with the system which is to be expected for a newer product but what is more important to me is that they respond and address any issues quickly. To be fair, some of what I've thought were "glitches" were really user error on my part and they have always done a good job of walking me through the solution. I will be staying with NCBK! Pros Incredible response time and customer service. Cloud based system that allows me to use just my Mac (a first for BK software). Cons Chapter 13 plan could use some improvement. I have tried other cloud-based bankruptcy preparation software and they never quite worked correctly. I love that I can access my cases anywhere and that they are continuing to improve on their product. Almost monthly it seems like there is a new feature or a revision to an old one that makes putting the bankruptcy petition together more seamless and intuitive. Their customer service is excellent. Cons In the early days, it felt like some of the features hadn't been fully developed. That has been remedied for the most part. We are a very modern and innovative law practice dedicated to maximizing efficiency and technology. We know that our clients operate in a world of smart phones and the internet, and we want to their experience in hiring an attorney to fit right into that lifestyle. NextChapter has allowed us to do that. Our bankruptcy practice has been streamlined into two simple meetings with an attorney and interaction through the internet at the convenience of the client! Pros Utilizing the Debtor Portal has allowed me to completely cut out an "input meeting" and save precious paralegal and attorney time. Not only are clients inputting the information that they themselves are most familiar with, they are also scanning in documents that we otherwise would've scanned. The layout of the program is modern and very user-friendly. Cons There are still kinks that pop up once in a while, but the team at NextChapter is always ready and willing to fix them in a timely manner. There are were, of course, glitches in the beginning but customer support are prompt and helpful. Pros The software is very easy to use and very user friendly. I especially like the Preview feature and downloading the petition documents during filing with the Court is extremely easy. Cons I wish there were a notes section? Clients tend to leave out certain information and it would be really helpful if there were a section of the software where you could put notes on missing information and/or documents and be able to print it for the client. Pros It is conveniently accessible at home or at the office for me and my assistants. It is reasonably priced. It helps keep the requested information consistent and accurate. The customer service is very responsive to my requests. Cons Some of the data entry is counter-intuitive. Where you expect to put in dependents, income and expense, sold property and preference payments based on the official forms, in this software they are entered in connection with family, current assets and creditors. Once you learn where to input the data, it works fine. I wish the credit reports with their integration included judgment information. More intuitive, data entry and organizational features. Works well on all devices. Cons There are some of the features that don't seem complete yet. NextMessage seems like it could be an awesome, groundbreaking way to communicate with clients, but doesn't seem totally mobile compatible yet. If you have a question its probably in the FAQ's. If not there is someone there to help - and they answer your calls. We were having a password issue when our computer systems updated. The techs noticed and called us to see if they could help us resolve the issue. That's service! We were up and running in two seconds. Cons We haven't really found any cons to this software yet. With any software this is a learning curve. You have to remember to hit save after entering some data, but that is just getting to know your software. I have been in this business over 40 years and this is the best bankruptcy program I have used.
