Pros: I like Fastcases' citation checker feature. The software gives clear case mapping, allowing the user to determine whether a case is still good law.

Cons: The statute look-up feature is a bit cumbersome. It takes multiple steps to find previous versions of statutes, rather than intuitively linking to the appropriate version.

Pros: It offers basic search tools and does a great job of highlighting bad cases. It is easy to navigate. You can also set up specific alerts to receive email notifications of when a case is cited.

Cons: It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of other legal search engines, but it gets the job done.

Overall: Basic state searches are free through my bar discount. I can get a national subscription far cheaper than other search engines. For the price point, it does great.

Pros: cost vs benefit is higher than other products; the form of printing cases is easier; you get right to search and don't have multiple lawyers of extraneous bloat ware screen obfuscation

Cons: Support not as robust as other products; they have changed front end interface that does require re learning

Overall: I get to see cases without extra fluff, and get to them quickly

Pros: Fastcase is provides a comprehensive legal research database that provides what an attorney needs in a practical sense (there isn't any "fluff" or junk that you don't need). And, Fastcase is affordable! In fact, it's free to members of the bar in some states.

Cons: There is a delicate balance between value paid and what is offered. Fastcase does an excellent job of trying to juggle that delicate balance. Having said that, I would like to see some more secondary materials relevant to my practice area.

Overall: Fastcase saves my firm money on legal research while providing a superior legal research service.

The Ford Taurus of legal research. Not glamorous, but gets you to the same destination.

Pros: I honestly think this should be shown to law students, not Westaw or Lexis. It's a much more positive experience to start with this and work your way up to the features that make these other products worth the money (allegedly). I rarely find the need to compare results with the higher end engines, and when I do, rarely do I get the results I hoped for.

Cons: I wish the interface was more clean. Oftentimes you are missing easy hits because the suggested replacement terms is clueless.

Pros: I use this product at least once a week. It is very easy to use. It provides a comprehensive database of case law from around the country. I highly recommend it.

Cons: There is no shepardize feature. Otherwise I haven't found any other issues.

Pros: My favorite part of this program, is that many sources are provided to Florida lawyers free of charge!

Cons: Unfortunately, there is no ability to Shepardize or otherwise confirm status of case. Also, if not careful, it is easy to go back to the wrong point in a search and overlook cases of import.

Overall: Free and easy search of caselaw and statutes.
