It simplifies the process. It speeds up the process. It costs me less to do it this way because I don't have to pay someone to drive somewhere to pull a permit in person. Pros I like the convenience of being able to apply and pay for a permit from my desk . I wish that more cities would use this service. It's very simple to use. Cons The limits that many of the cities put on the ability to use the service. I wish that the e-permit page was all encompassing and not for a few specific jobs. Each city determines how extensive their e-permits page is going to be so it ends up being very limited. For example we are plumbers and what we've found is often times the only e-permit available for a city is for doing a water heater. If I needed to pull a permit for anything else I'd still need to do it the old fashioned way. Places the onus on the Contractor to supply the necessary detail, but also on the controllers to review and approve in a timely manner. The software can flex to suit any application or Client requirements. Cons Not much not to like, just wish more customers had this system and it was in wider use across the industry. The ability to allow all contractors to apply for their own permits dramtically reduced the admin required by my team providing an increase in productivity Cons Having to access the system via a PC sometime proved difficult. Having an easily audited system is crucial to PwC HSE team and this is also provided - where teams would previously have to attend site and dig through physical copies of permits all are able to be accessed online. Pros The ease of interface and the common sense approach to where data is stored in the data admin area. Also the RAMS & Permit applications are very straightforward and easy to impart knowledge on new users, both from the contractor side and in training other system admins. Cons The interaction between Hot Works permits and Isolations has required considerable thought, as there doesn't seem to be a straightforward way for approvers to add these permits in, and contractors get confused between the requirements of both. Other than that everything seems to be quite well managed.
