Because it's packed with so many features, templates and options, I'm able to design projects in a fraction of the time it would take me to open up my more expensive software and try to figure out which tool to use to get the job done. I'm a happy camper with Canva. Pros I was hesitant to try Canva initially because I was a loyal Adobe fan (still am), but it only took a few pinched deadlines to make me realize the magic that is Canva. I've created everything from social media graphics and book covers to logos and lead magnet PDFs for clients. The price is affordable and upgrading to a business account allows you to add your own branding and team members which is awesome. I have been pleasantly surprise and pleased with Canva. Pros Even a novice user can operate this software because of how simple it is to use. It includes excellent tools and possibilities for designing and editing photos. Cons Any good design or image you see on Canva's directory is paid. It has some limitations for free users. Having a lot of features already, Canva still needs a lot of improvements to be the best in the industry. I can't stress just how much fun it is as well, and this is important: if you're enjoying making your design, your promotion will probably reflect that and authentically attract more viewers. Pros Canva is tailor-made for social media promotion, and is therefore an efficient tool for my kayak tour business - without needing hours of tutorials or a course in graphic design; all you need is a bit of creativity. Designs can be easily copied and transformed to different size formats, from Instagram to Facebook and beyond. Additionally, with Pro one has access to a variety of effects. My favorite is the "remove background" tool that works a bit like the "lasso" in Photoshop, automatically isolating subjects/objects in the foreground of an image - which, while sometimes imperfect, can be tweaked and enhanced for better results with adjustments in contrast, hue, tone, etc. The cherry on top of the Pro license is the ability to create animations out of any static design, so that the post stands out in a social media feed. Cons There is a limit to the amount of adjustments you can make to Canva's effects, which sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. In a way, it feels like a game - which to its credit speaks to just how fun the design process is here - and sometimes I'm left one step short of winning, or achieving the effect that my design needs. At times the interface trips over itself, especially in the mobile app (I would recommend using a laptop or other computer) and less often in the web browser, when an effect won't do what it's supposed to and requires a refresh or backtracking through your actions. I still hire for complicated projects but Canva takes care of all my basic needs and has saved me a bunch of money. Pros This has been an amazing tool for my company. We use it in so many ways. Whether we are sizing all of our pictures for our website to be standard, adding simple words onto images for best practices, downloading the images as programs, downloading the images as video/gif, creating social media postings, etc. This tool is simple to use, easy to explain, and easy to deploy. We provide it to our customers and clients and get them on board as well and have had literally no issues. Just a game changer for a small business. Cons I would like to see more download options for videos to have custom timing but this is pretty minimal. Overall, the sharing to team feature could be embellished as well. For someone with little graphic design, I could get not only "palatable" graphic assets but rather decent or great assets. They do a great job with their templates, the drag and drop, and the color picker. All of it exceptional. Honestly. I can't say enough good things about this software! Pros This is an extremely well-designed software. As a software designer myself, I am very critical of software, and I usually look at it from a Human-centered design perspective. Canva has done an exceptional job of taking a hard challenge like "graphic design" and make the process extremely simple, easy, and useful. top marks! Cons Honestly, not much. If I had to find something, it would be that I found that the canvas creation process was a bit confusing. I don't recall exactly what about it. Founder E-Learning Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Amazing program" May 27, 2019 5.0 Pros After I'd played with the free version for a while and was convinced, I bought the professional version because it's very affordable and it didn't feel good to use the free version when I wanted to use it for my business. Lately they've added more functions to the pro version too. I've now done at least 800 designs. Depending on the phase of my business, I use it daily at times and then at least a couple of times a week. I've previously used QuarkXpress, inDesign, Pagemaker, Illustrator and a little Photoshop. This does not have the finesse of the Adobe programs or good ole Quark, and I do wish it had a working canvas outside the design, but really you cannot expect all the bells and whistles of one of those design programs for such a tiny amount of money. I can manage nearly everything I want to do and, if not, come up with a workaround, as I'm sure you would with a little practice. It's so simple to use and offers so many benefits. Cons The only issues I have with them are around customer contact. I've found it impossible to get help. Also a very recent data breach was handled very much from the point of view that they are king and we are underlings. I am left feeling that they are high-handed, but I do understand that even the paying customers like me are not paying enough to have individual attention. The one I like the most would be the ability to delete uploaded files more conveniently. It really saves time when you can click several images all at once. A second feature I really appreciate is how you can search for specific keywords like "minimalist" or "mood board" when searching for a template. It really minimizes the hassle of going through templates when you have an idea of how your content will look. Cons I think Canva can still improve the collaborative aspect of the program. Pros Canva is super easy to use, the templates are GREAT, and the assortment of options one has is fantastic. I love that one can use the different parts of templates with others, mix match, etc. I was hesitant to use them for ordering printed material because I had only used them for memes online but took the plunge after noting that another website charges an arm and a leg for shipping and tax and worse the amount you could order for money was significantly less. Canva allowed me to order more, and pay less.  I was still holding my breath though as I was not sure if the quality would be good. The other thing about the previous company was the shipping was extremely slow. The materials I ordered through Canva came in record time, and are simply gorgeous. Additionally, the materials were packaged with great care. Really impressed! THANK YOU SO MUCH. I have already recommended Canva to others and will continue to do so. Cons The only cons I add are I wish the color palette offered a wider arrange of colors and that the frames still had the oval with no white on the edge of the frame.
