I used it as a student/intern to make presentations, infographics, blog header images, and more. Now, I use it on a weekly basis at work to brainstorm bigger projects and create content for social media. I even use it outside of my professional life to make anything from birthday cards to board games. The free version has so much to offer, and if you want to upgrade you can do so at a super affordable price. Pros 1\. It's a quick and easy way to design just about anything! I typically design from scratch, but when I need something fast or feel like I need a little inspiration, Canva saves the day. 2. The library of templates, photos, graphics, videos, fonts, etc. is incredible. 3. It's a great tool for learning, even if you're an experienced designer. 4. It's totally affordable - after 4 years, I upgraded to the Pro plan and feel like you get so much value at such an affordable price. What makes Canva stand out the most is that there are tons of free resources/the free plan will actually get you pretty far, which was great when I was a student/starting out professionally. 5. They're always updating/improving the features. Cons I honestly can't think of any cons. Any complaints that I had in the past have all been taken care of as the team at Canva is great about updating the software. I feel like in most cases, if they don't have a certain feature or function right now, they'll have it added within a few months. I may seem overdramatic, but if you are slaving away for hours over flyers, pitch decks, presentations, ad photos, Instagram posts, you-name-it, you will understand what a blessing it is to find a program that makes this process simple and easy: 1) Templates galore (some paid, free) They are all amazing 2) Templates are broken down to what you need them for (insta, banners, presentations, flyers, etc) 3) Features, shapes, graphics are already available (Some paid, some free) 4) Drag and drop everything! I also have a lot of fun creating cards and menus for our family. Pros I have never been able to rapidly create visual elements for eLearning until Canva. I literally can create a graphic concept knowing it is a vector based illustration that I can quickly export. I hardly even bother saving the compositions since I know I can recreate them just as fast as locating the file if I need it again. The included "elements" or illustrations are vast and professional. The included stock photos are amazing too. I purchased a year long subscription to another stock photo site and I now regret it since Canva has more and richer content and it is much easier to use. Cons It really is close to perfect in the features offered. The duplicate feature never seems to refresh the preview in the home area. Also I wish the saving feature was a little more streamlined or there was a prompt before downloading to rename the file. I'm not really familiar with Adobe's tools so using Canva allows me to have a design that is almost as good. The best part is even the free version gives you a lot of elements to play with. Pros Canva is a great drag and drop design builder. I've used it to build infographs, business cards, resumes, Facebook and LinkedIn banners and many more things. They have multiple aspect ratio options to get started with for social media, private and business use. Once you select one of these options then you are provided with starting from scratch or using templates. The templates are professionally designed and it's easy to replace the template elements with custom ones (which are included when using Canva). You can also add your own images. Once you have everything set up then you have multiple download options like png, jpeg, pdf, etc... It is a great software I've used many times and always recommend it to others. Cons There is a learning curve with using the design elements. Everything is very customizable and can sometimes be confusing with what you are trying to do. It's easy to use and has a wide variety of options to choose from, so you can really make your creations your own. Pros I love how simple it is to use and how versatile it is! I frequently use Canva to create Instagram posts for my product page, to create thumbnails for my website, and to create cards or invitations. But Canva can be used for so much! It has so many templates and options. I love that it is like a one-stop shop for all your graphic design needs. I've even created a logo using their software. Great for businesses! Cons I did have to play around with it a bit in the beginning to get the hang of all the options. There is so much that you can do with this software that it is not all immediately evident right away. You do need to spend a little time looking through their options, templates, fonts, shapes, photos, and styles before you are really able to maximize your business' use of the software. Along the way, I've just fallen in love with the software. Now it's completely replaced Photoshop as my go-to graphics creator. I can push out dozens of designs in the same time it would take me to create a single one in Photoshop. The templates are a nice "plus" that help get my creative juices flowing. Pros I love the ability to include icons, elements, beautiful clipart, photos, text and anything else I need to create marketing materials. Cons I think they still need some help with text effects. I use it for literally everything from creating IG posts/stories, to our brochures for our product (both digital and print), business cards, graphics for our website.... I even made our logo inside of canva. The best part is I can brainstorm an idea on my phone using my app, and then hop on the computer to fine-tune it. Pros I used to use Photoshop to create every PDF, Tshirt Design, and graphic image. But when I started using Canva probably 3 years ago, I got rid of my Adobe suite online. Canva saves me so much time in making simple yet engaging graphics for any marketing materials I need. The transparent download option made this a no brainer for me! Cons I wish it had an "erase" tool where I could erase parts of an image or graphic that I have uploaded. Also wish it had a "Paintbrush" of some kind or "blemish tool" to cover up parts of an uploaded image that I don't want visible in a graphic. Maybe even a "cut" tool? This would be even more of a game-changer for me. Also, I wish we could download a graphic as a vector so we can use it inside of Canva and change the color with a click when needed. Cons The only glitch is that I haven't figured out or perhaps it doesn't bend, twist, flex text into curvy patterns like a Illustrator, Photoshop, or Powerpoint might. But then again, I don't need to get to the moon, as long as I can reach the stars.
