Pros: I like the ease of the interface. A lot of chat apps try to do to much and Slack has just the right amount of features while still being easy to use. I like how easy it is to send files, and how easy it is to makes groups

Cons: The mobile app left something to be desired, it worked alright, but it isn't as impressive as the desktop version.

Overall: Easy chatting, especially with groups.

Pros: I loved using Slack. It allows you to easily keep track of files and conversations. You can create any number of group conversations and maintain control over who is able to see them making it a great tool for connecting with project teams, departments, individuals and clients. You can even include groups outside of the organization such as those used for trading ideas about industry topics without affecting anybody else slack group. It has a number of useful and fun functions from file sharing and comment tracking to goofy gifs that help lighten the mood. It lightens the load on your email inbox and allows you to connect remotely while enjoying the benefit of professional conversations, water cooler talk, and team brainstorming. It is easily searchable and is a tool I miss quite often now that I am working for a company that does not use it.

Cons: The version we used often ran out of space and I spent a lot of time deleting old files one at a time. It was very tedious. It is a bit distracting when you are in the middle of something and there is no way to discern from important chatter and simple noise. It is also not great for everyone especially team members who like traditional means of communications. This last issue can end up creating confusion if you are using multiple mediums to discuss a single topic.

Overall: Overall this software is easy to use and incredibly helpful in streamlining conversation.

Pros: I liked that you can manage both your one on one conversations/chats with another student or teacher in the same place as assignments and files are posted.

Cons: Sometimes hard to stay organized and keep up with things posted in each channel- there is little organization or structure to the threads, so sometimes a pots can get lost. Can also be tricky to tell who can see what post (what is public vs. private). Also wish there was a way to specify what type of notifications you want to receive

Overall: Easy online way to share homework, class notes, discussions and feedback between teachers and students

Comments: Overall I can say that Slack is a good communication channel.

Pros: It can be used as communication within the company, it sends documents faster because of less traffic in file uploads. The application is user friendly.

Cons: Since we are using a free account, the older messages are hidden. It can easily drain batteries if you have it on mobile(if you leave it open).

Pros: Easy to use messaging tool for IT professionals and developers. Ability to upload code, PDFs and office documents/screenshots for teams as well as individuals.

Cons: I wished all software had the user interface like this. There are others out there that try to top it, but this one is no slack.

Overall: This is just a really easy way to communicate to IT/developers without bogging down email and server space.

Pros: how easy it is to use and simplicity of platform. I can find everything I need and communicate with anyone in our company quickly without disturbing them.

Cons: If you're not at admin level, there are a few limitations. Also, the search feature isn't the best. I've had a hard time searching for things within Slack.

Pros: Like the channels that each provide customized notification levels. I also like the ability to integrate with Freshdesk and Jira.

Cons: It is bloated and uses alot of resources and can sometimes freeze unexpectedly. It also really pushes you to the paid version after 6 months since you don't get the history without paying.

Pros: It looks like discord! We can connect apps to it too, that integrate well with our other tools. Slack can be out notification tool while it is integrated with something like SmartSheet, which is a project management tool. So when an action item is completed or something goes amiss, we are notified via Slack.

Cons: There's nothing I don't like about Slack. It's easy to use.

Pros: I really enjoy the emoticons you can create and all the additional creative stuff you can have. But I also like how many programs can be intergrated into slack. You can also create private and public channels. It's almost like have your own program for different chat rooms.

Cons: Sometimes app integrations do not work or are not offered. I also wish there was a way a channel could be read-only so that 1 person could post messages but others could read it only and not post comments.

Overall: The company I work for is a work-from home business. It's easy to lose communication when you do not see your coworkers face-to-face every day. Slack helps with this and makes my team feel closely connected even if we live across the country from each other.

Pros: I work in a college with colleagues scattered throughout different buildings. Great way to instant message each other instead of emailing..This is one of the best cloud-based tools for data sharing, group texting on desktop and mobiles. The search feature is great which allows locating individual and group message histories.

Cons: I think I like just about everything about Slack. Sometimes the side messages are a little annoying, but it works really well for what we use it for.

Overall: I like how simple and user friendly this software is. Anyone could navigate it with ease, regardless of experience. This tool allows me to easily talk to coworkers in our other offices as well as enabling me to work remotely.

Pros: Slack allows you to have several topics of conversation within a channel without getting lost in the comments. It's a great way to stay organized with work and stay in touch with friends!

Cons: It can be a little overwhelming to have all the threads blowing up your computer or device but with little difficulty you can adjust the notifications to suit your needs!

Overall: Communication is simple and kept in ONE application. There is no need to check all your emails or messaging apps because everything can be neatly separated into its own categories.

Pros: i used slack in my previous company honestly best feature i liked about the app was to be able to have a chat to keep notes to myself .whether it be tasks or to save some links or whether to note some commands
file sharing was easier too. having a mobile app and desktop app helps
but again personally for me that able to make notes without having to manage a notepad file was best

Cons: i suppose the fact that there was no way to have whole team having a group/verbal/video communication option was the thing i didnt like
we had to use skype for that.. i felt that it made us use a secondary software that is suppose to be similar to a competitor for just one purpose

Pros: This software makes it easy to collaborate with teammates. Sharing anything from images, documents or code snippets is simple. Integrating with all our other services so that everything can be done right from a chat window is great.

Cons: With very large teams (3000+), it becomes more difficult to manage alerts in channels with large numbers of people. People like to still @here these channels even though they do not need the attention of all 3000 members. So you end up ignoring alerts from these channels altogether.

Overall: Better workflow, collaboration, and communication within our team at work.

Pros: Chat at work with easy video calling. It's a decent chat tool that allows you to manage individual and group conversations easily. I can send files, screen snips, etc, very easily.

Cons: It could use more integrations, with a little more handholding to set them up? I don't know if I have a LEAST liked. It's not trying to be too many things, so there's not a lot of room for error.

Overall: My team isn't always in the same place - with Slack it's less of an issue. In fact, it lets us be more places while still maintaining contact and productivity.

Pros: I love how fast this service is, and that I don't need to release my phone number to slack for messages to work. This is like Apple's iMessage for any smart phone and isn't annoying like Group Me at the same time.

Cons: Sometimes messages come are delivered to your app, but the app fails to notify you on your mobile. The desktop version does not have this problem.
My other complaint is when I want to sign into several different Slack Communities. Sometimes the emails to enroll your subscription tot that page doesn't work.

Pros: It's easily the quickest/most effective way to connect with coworkers & peers. The amount of functionality offered at a free level is also surprising; the fact that they don't require normal users to pay for slack is surprising.

Cons: Some of the features in Slack are strangely less user friendly. Features like threads are strange; sometimes they send notifications, sometimes they don't... Finding files that were shared can also be a little challenging. Privacy across channels is also nonexistent unless the channel is made private, which can be a pro/con depending on the use-case.

Pros: - The payment plan allows working with other companies in perfect harmony, thanks to the shared channels and guest accounts.
- The workspace is compatible with an unlimited series of applications and integrations. This allows members to connect the tools they use on a daily basis to centralize all their work in Slack.
- The advantages and strengths of Slack is that not only allows you to create groups, private conversations, channels that would be like more general rooms to which everyone can join, share links or attachments, etc ... but it is a highly configurable service.

Cons: - Apparently a chat, a lot of information can be lost as the time-line grows with other comments, and if you want to recover at some point information that you did not save, even using the search engine, it can be somewhat complicated.

-The design, at first impression, is a bit simple

Overall: Slack helped us to make our communication with team members and with customers simpler, allowing the team to obtain real-time responses from the client during the development of their product, increasing team productivity.

Cons: Some of the additional apps start off as free and then cost money which caused us to stop using that specific app

Pros: Been a great fan of Slack !! Amazing Instant messaging platform both mobile and Desktop which allows easy collaboration with team members without any hassle.

Cons: There is a bit of difficulty in learning slack from the start by my team members. A good onboarding process will solve this problem.

Pros: Ability to create multiple channels (both private and public) dedicated to particular topics.
Ability to set up integration with external tools (like Jenkins, SauceLabs) to receive timely notifications.
Ability to collapse replies to particular message.

Cons: Not obvious means for messages formatting (e.g. adding links, writing part of message in bold, etc.)
Inability to configure notifications for tagged messages (messages containing particular words)

Overall: We were able to set up effective communication in our company (both inside teams and across teams). Thanks to targeted audience in subject channels we avoided unnecessary communicatory noise

Pros: Slack allows teams to communicate in efficient and effective ways. This company-wide software offers great collaboration opportunities with private/public channels, as well as allowing you to direct message individual team members. In addition to a great desktop interface, the mobile app is also very user friendly and is great for keeping up with communication outside of business hours. I've also used the Windows specific application on a limited basis. Although this freezes up from time to time, the online application (directly through the slack.com website) is incredibly reliable. Highly recommended! The bots are a great function when looking for assistance in the marketing world as well as SEO/SEM.

Cons: Not a whole lot of negative things to say about the software. If you have a tech savvy administrator and are willing to use the smartbots, you can get a lot out of this powerful tool.

Overall: Let your team communicate efficiently and effectively with Slack. Using public channels, your teams can collaborate in order to meet last minute deadlines or complete critical projects. Additionally, multi-person direct messages allow you to communicate with small groups and teams, without make your conversations public. Growthbots, Instabots, and other chat bots allow you to get the most of your software, while automating some communication from API integrated softwares.

Pros: Its hard to actually find something I liked. Maybe the option to share files and the being able to comment on them. I appreciated that you can be in a group of stranger for a large work slack for example, without the need to 'connect/befriend' each other.

Cons: It is utterly confusing. If you sign up with an email and have more then one Slack groups you cannot just switch between them. Within one group, the same people could use different groups to talk about different topics, but most often people just stay in the #general section and forget about the subgroups. Those team members who didn't have slack on their phones never ended up checking their messages since they didn't get any notification, so we ended up emailing them. Slack seemed like another app to download while we can just talk on email or hangouts or FB messenger. Why bother when it offers nothing more?

Overall: I honestly cannot name one thing this app does better than your email or FB.

Pros: Slack is the best communication tool I've ever used. It allows everyone in your org to communicate in channels or direct messages, share files, images, music, gifs, etc. It integrates in to tons of other tools, notifying users of certain milestones. Conversations are saved, and can be referred back to years later.

Cons: Sometimes finding files/specific conversations can be a pain. It can take a little digging, but you can usually find what you're looking for.

Overall: This tool does miracles for team communication and efficiency. It's really fun to use as well. We've also used it to integrate into HubSpot, Trello, Totango, Twitter, and our software product to notify our teams of key milestones. I couldn't live without it.

Pros: Slack can be as simple as a basic messaging system or as complex as you make it. We can be as creative as we want with Slack through using integrations while keeping basic communication present throughout our team members. For example, our office has a Slack channel that calls out different co-workers randomly throughout the day with quick exercise tasks (like - Hey Amber! Do 5 jumping jacks!)

It makes talking to each other and communicating fun whether we're working on a project, planning a new office culture event or asking a co-worker a quick question. We're trying some fun integrations like Busterbot (workout app mentioned above) plus we're keeping our work on track with Hubspot notifications for marketing & sales in Slack. Lastly, creating unique channels for our projects helps keep communication in line and we can share messages, files, images, etc. in one spot.

Cons: Honestly, I can't say one bad thing about Slack. Our office wouldn't function without it and I would seriously recommend trying the free version.

Overall: Fast & easy communication between co-workers, departments and committees, helps keeps communication silo-ed into different channels for projects, fun integrations & serious business integrations both available.

Pros: Segment communication in thematic channels; analyzes the number of messages sent, installed applications, file storage used, number of active users a week and daily, the percentage of messages read on open, closed channels and in indirect messages; it is very useful for large companies, since it details the number of members and their date of entry, as well as detailing the number of open channels, their creation date, last activity date, the number of channel members and the messages published; connects own and external applications such as Gmail, Skype, Dropbox, etc. It also offers a list of more than 1000 applications that you can install directly from Slack; register the content of the shared files so you can search within PDF documents, Word, Google Drive files, etc; includes personalized notifications that will notify us when they mention or someone has commented on a keyword that we have previously defined, that is, a private message.

Cons: Considering the similarity with a chat, much information can be lost as the "time-line" grows with other comments, and if you want to recover at some point information that you did not save, even using the search engine, it can be somewhat complicated. It does not allow sending videos.

Overall: Slack unifies conversations between work teams, also includes all the services, applications and resources they need to optimize the work process (Dropbox, Google Drive, Skype ...). All applications are integrated into the platform, where you can search and easily find files, calls, messages and coworkers.

Pros: Slack is an amazingly useful tool for large variety of businesses. Whether big, or small, the ability to bring all members of a project together in an instant-message-style chat environment brings unity and organization to conversations. If you are like me and you constantly hear people saying that documenting all communication is important, THIS IS YOUR SOLUTION. While email is also useful for this kind of documentation, the threads often become cluttered and are often not easy to follow when you are catching up on messages from several people. It also saves your conversations for up to 3 years!
Slack lets you build and incorporate your own tools so that each company can have a unique experience that fits their needs, but even if you aren't a developer, there are tools available for your use that others have created and shared too!

Cons: The only con about Slack, is not actually a fault of the software, but like most things, some users will be resistant to change, or unwilling to acknowledge its uses outside of functioning like just an email account.

Overall: I can easily separate projects, and add in appropriate contributors to an instant message-style chat, which archives messages for up to 3 years.

Pros: I love being able to keep in good communication with others. At work, I am easily able to connect with anyone within the organization, attach files, send funny GIF's... you name it! It became so user friendly and fun that I signed my family up to Slack. Now any messaging that occurs with the family is done through Slack.

Cons: Sometimes I don't get a notification on my phone when someone from my family slacks me. However, that is the only thing I can say negatively about the platform. It runs very smoothly 99.9% of the time. Well done on the buildout.

Overall: The ability to very quickly connect to someone in my company. We are able to share documents very easily, allowing for the deals that need to be taken care of to happen as fast as possible. Email takes a back seat to the functionality I get out of this system. I always revert to Slack, then go to email for clients. I wish I could have my clients on Slack! Pros: Slack has a pretty simple premise (chat with your team) but they expand the functionality to do so many other things, but they do it in a way that makes sense, not just cluttering up the interface with unnecessary complication. They also have a lot of integrations with other services I use that are helpful, but not critical. Slack has changed the way we communicate internally, in a good way. It encourages communication, which is super valuable.

Cons: The biggest problem with Slack in my opinion is that you can have a bunch of different conversations flying around at the same time, and if you aren't careful, you can lose track of important details or action items. It can also be a little tough for a non-tech person to get comfortable with. Depending on who is on your team, it can be like one of those terrible "reply-all" email explosions, only you have 15 inboxes instead of one. A polite, savvy team makes all the difference.

Pros: Our company uses slack for non-essential communication. Team members are not required to have slack, however, majority use this resource. As our company grows and with the ongoing busy schedules in the work place, slack is a great resource to ask someone or a group of people a quick question without trying to track them down or get time on their calendar. You can individually message a person, message a public group or message a private group. Slack can be very professional as well as a very fun outlet for team members to share jokes, accomplishments (ex. baby announcements), or free/for sale items.

Cons: I have slack on my phone but find that not all messages pop up as notifications on my phone. There are setting options to to set notification preferences, but I have not found a setting to overcome this. I do also wish it was easier to add a new person to a private group.

Comments: All around very robust offering whether you are using the desktop, mobile, or web app. Lots of integrations to use to make life and collaboration easier. Just keep in mind if you want to use it to it's full potential you'll need to do some research and might need to remember commands for the things you want it to do.

Pros: It's free, you can create threads for different conversations within channels/individual messages, LOTS of automation and integrations, clean interface. Searching for keywords in all your channels/conversations can be invaluable when trying to re-find information (it's capped to your last 10k messages unless you pay to upgrade).

Cons: If you're not a developer or want to do some research/tinkering with all the things it can do, you probably won't see all the potential it has, and that's ok. Sometimes it is a tad hard to find certain settings and navigation within the mobile app could be better (some UX tweaks).

Pros: Slack is a lifesaver for our organization as it enhanced the speed at which we can communicate with other members of our company on projects. In addition, the ability to create specific channels to reduce the overall noise allows us to be more effective and direct in our communications. The use of Slack over the past year has probably saved us tens, if not hundreds of thousands of emails. Their integration with other programs and platforms is excellent and allows us to streamline communications internall and externally with our clients.

Cons: The only con to Slack is the cost above the free plan. There is a significant jump to move to a paid plan which allows you to keep all of your conversation history.

Overall: Streamlined communication, targeted communication on specific topics through the use of channels, time savings from the number of emails "saved".

Slack is an easy way to communicate and collaborate.

Pros: It's easy to use right away, doesn't require much set-up, and saves time from having to email back and forth between collaborators.

Cons: It's another thing to check everyday, and sometimes it can get complicated if you have a lot of channels going on. I also dislike how cluttered the news feed on a channel can get if you haven't been able to catch up in a while.

Overall: I can connect with a lot more people that doesn't require cluttering my inbox everyday.

Pros: This product allows corporate communication at the your fingertips. Not only does this help with organization during the work day, but also collaboration between large groups, i.e. tradeshow events.

Cons: We are required to resubmit login credentials quite often and this becomes difficult if there is not a computer in the area.

Pros: This has been absolutely the most functional, easy-to-use, productivity increasing, organized chat app that our company has used.

Cons: It is definitely useful, but very over-hyped. As a result, pricing is incredibly high for what you get the ability to have group calls, storing more than 5gb of files, etc., will cost you more than a GSuite account per person in your organization.

Pros: Slack is diverse and can have many use cases. I've used it at work and at nearly every hackathon in the past few years to communicate with team members.

Cons: There's nothing I dislike about Slack, because it does everything I need and expect it to do for me.

Pros: The ability to create different channels with different purposes. You can create a channel for any purpose, whether group or project, and archive them when you're done to clean up clutter.

Cons: This is small nitpick, but whenever I try to access the list of channels, I always click the plus button instead of the "Channels" word. The UI could be more intuitive in this aspect.

Pros: Multi-platform usage of this software is incredible. I used it on Linux, Windows and macOS.
I like the slick design and highly customisable themes . It is very simple and organised.
Free plan of usage is extremely well bulit, it gives you a message limit which is more than enough to fully experience this software.
Huge amount of extensions and add-ons possibilites is a huge plus.

Cons: The only thing that i didn't like was the part where we had to invite each other via e-mails. It can be a little confusing for new users.

Overall: I was able to instantly and in a very effective way reach my colleagues for help and discuss our code in a large group of people in order to find its mistakes and possible improvements.

Pros: The easiness of usage, how self-explanatory the Software itself is. Nothing over the top, has just what you need without the unimportant extras to draw your attention from the main point. The fact that you can use free version that works almost impeccably would be a tremendous plus as well.

Cons: I honestly do not see any downsides of this amazing app. The only thing that can account as the downside would not be connected with the application itself but the different types of users, where some could easly be mislead and start using this one as a chat app instead of a work-related one as it is primarily intended.

Overall: Ease of access, instant info, work flow improved without unnecessary delays. Less formal emailing that takes time when all you need is just a quick answer.

Comments: Overall, Slack is definitely a tool you can vouch for!

Pros: After having worked in the IT sector for 3+ years now, I can safely say that Slack is one of the best channels for internal communication - primarily because the design is extremely balanced; it is not archaic nor is it designed to look too casual a chat platform. I will quickly walk you through the pros of the product based on my experience as well as the useful features of it. 1. With slack, you are assured of a good UI. I have used similar platforms for internal messaging like spark but there were quite dated in terms of how they looked and worked. Majority of times, the file always showed transfer error. Slack ensures sureshot file transfer 2. In addition to the point above, there is a very useful feature of "All Files" that helps you view all the files you have received so far. Great for record purposes, to double-check and re-download easily in case you have lost the file 3. You can set reminders to yourself - Absolutely amazing especially for those tiny tasks in between that I gotta finish but generally tend to forget because of daily duties 4. Customised channels - I can create multiple different channels for different categories of communication. Much like how we create "groups" in WhatsApp - That is how it works. It is especially good when you want to disseminate important information to a particular set of people 5. Apart from reminders - You have your personal chat page which works like a "diary" for me. So I can put my daily tasks, save links or even "test run" certain messages. It is a pretty useful feature! P.S. Not exactly a benefit but apart from a fun UI, it always opens up with a fun quote which is just nice to read overall!

Cons: 1. The application is too slow at times, to the extent that all other files hang. Tip: Once you have your workplace's account on Slack, just use the web version - It is not slow as the app is 2. The bottle-cap on the number of messages - I would like to use a communication tool safe in the knowledge that I can use it whenever I want to with no limits whatsoever. The upper limit of the number of messages that you can send deters me from sending quick messages to myself/others

Pros: Email messaging are becoming more obsolete especially in project management. Slack makes it easy to communicate through group chat groups and converting messages into tasks with third party integration.

Cons: So Slack is moving in the right direction in terms of being the best messaging app for business or professional use. Only feature I would like to see in the future is to enable titles in messages. Since messages in Slack are usually long better to have a summary or a title so that you can already filter as you go through it just like email titles.

Overall: Easy communication with teams in working with projects

Pros: The best part of using slack is that it cuts down on emails. Instead of sending tens, or hundreds of emails per day and always having to wait on a response, I just Slack my co-workers a question and I get a response in easily half the time. This is especially useful for very small questions or tasks so that my email inbox stays clean for the more in-depth communications.

Cons: Th thing I like least about slack is some inconsistent interface elements that make the learning curve a bit steep when starting out. The difference between starting a chat with an individual versus starting a chat with an establish channel is not consistent. However, this is easily overcome-able after just a short period of using the product.

Overall: I feel like I get almost an hour of my day back every day by instant communication with my team. This tool definitely makes me more efficient in my day-to-day job.

Great way to stay connected to the team. Whenever, Wherever.

Pros: Integrations. the Salesforce and Invision integrations are good enough but I have the ability to link Slack with at least 10 apps that I use on a regular basis. This helps me integrate Slack with my pretty much all of my normal day to day activities.

Cons: There aren't a lot of added features for the standard or plus packages. Having video calls is a nice touch but other than that, you don't receive much once you start paying for it. It would be nice to see more feautures in the future as the product expands.

Pros: - You can have customized channels within your team for special projects or different designated teams to discuss things privately.
- There are great apps that you can integrate to this software, like CRMs, culture promoting tools, games, reminders, task managers, etc.
- It barely has any issues at all, I've been using it for three years and I think it has been down twice, and not even for very long.
- It's great for international/Out of office communications.
- It has great settings for "Do Not Disturb" modes, with schedules.
- It's easy to set up new members and new app integrations.

Cons: The reply system hides the replies instead of just showing them below the original message with different spacing or something similar, so they get lost sometimes.

Pros: The main pro of this platform is that it's way too easy to use due to its boards/channels arrangements. Intuitive channels replacement makes this tool quite easy for even the newbie to start using it from the time of accessing. In short, Slack's UI is fantastic.
What's another most important stuff is that it allows you to stay up to date to any (interesting to you) internal communications without cluttering your email inbox. A useful tool for internal communications.

Cons: Free plan has a very limited functionality compared to the paid one. Other than that I don't much of shortcomings in this product.

Pros: The ability to create multiple channels and be able share, schedule meetings, have custom notifications, have proper search feature to parse through the messages and ease of file sharing are some of the advantages that I see of using Slack. This has been a very useful office communicator tool and people from both intra and inter organization can collaborate through it.

Cons: The free version of slack has limited capabilities and the messages history is also truncated leading to the fear or social isolation when using the free version. The monthly subscription plan is a little expensive and so I hope there is a middle ground that is explored here

Overall: Good collaboration and ease of use are some of the important benefits that I received with this product

Pros: I've used Slack among different companies, teams, and now with my own business that I own and it has never let me down. It makes communicating with your team very easy and the different channels and plug-in options are endless.

Cons: It's truly hard to even think of something bad to say about this product, that's how good it is. The only thing I think they could probably work on is making keyboard shortcuts or new plug-ins available for users to learn about on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. There is so much to the platform I felt sometimes that there was more I could do with it if I simply had the knowledge.

I love Slack for keeping up with various teams I work with.

Pros: It is so simple and easy to use. Very straightforward to start using. It's the primary means we keep in touch throughout the day since our agency works remotely.

Cons: I would love to be able to incorporate it's use with gitlab -- because gitlab lacks the features that Slack shines with.

Overall: Easy dialog with remote workers all day long.
