Now I'm able to put a website together a lot faster, and the price is reasonable for my budget. April 5, 2021 5.0 I initially created my website through Bluehost and WordPress but found it to be more complicated than I would have liked. Bluehost offered a lot more flexibility than I needed for my small site so Wix worked out fine for me. I wish I would have initially started with Wix. I recommend it to anyone just starting out with website building. Pros Wix is incredibly easy to use and doesn't require any coding experience. Wix has easy drag and drop options which makes creating your website really simple, honestly, anyone can do it. They also have a lot of customization options and templates so that you can make your website look the way you want. Another thing I love is Wix's customer service. They always respond super fast and getting connected with someone on the phone isn't hard at all. Of all the times I contacted them via phone there was no wait time and I was able to speak with someone right away. As a business owner, making sure my website is up and running correctly is incredibly important so choosing a website builder with good customer service was a must for me. Cons Going from Bluehost to Wix, it was clear that there wasn't as much freedom and flexibility with Wix. There aren't multiple hosting options to choose from with Wix and while Wix does have customization options, there aren't nearly as many as with Bluehost. Wix also isn't the best for large websites and is better suited for smaller, simple, sites. As a newbie to website building I encountered a lot of problems and spent a lot of time trying to solve them. I had heard great things about Wix so when my plan with Bluehost was up I decided to try Wix instead of renewing. November 24, 2021 5.0 I believe that anybody can create a website for their business with Wix. To make it great and look like a pro is completely possible. Just be patient whilst you are learning to use Wix and explore new ideas (that's important). After I created the basic website I taught my wife who knew nothing about websites to add content to the pages. From there onwards she added all the items my client wanted and usually he said, "Give my regards to your wife!" He started thinking of her as the website designer. That's how user-friendly Wix is. Pros When I was caught off-guard by the requirement by Google that websites should be mobile-friendly and responsive I found that Wix was my quickest and best solution. The cherry on the top was that I was able to build a HUGE multi-page responsive website for my client and I earned the largest amount yet with a single website. Being able to do perfect SEO with that website and have new clients contact him regularly was a big bonus. Cons I know that not all things are perfect but at that time Wix was close to perfect. When they made some changes to the design interface I battled a bit to get used to the new changes. Because it is an online builder I had a few delays due to a slow Internet connection but that wasn't a major problem . Pros What I enjoyed most is the intuitive drag and drop features. They offered a variety of professional templates to use, including landing pages. The best part of the experience is that it was free. You can add a custom domain if you like for a small monthly fee to host, but not necessary to start. Cons The only con I can think of is the lack of customer service, but if you upgrade your plan, they do offer this service. That makes perfect sense to me......you can not fault Wix for that. With Wix's Drag and Drop website builder, you can easily build your personal portfolio website, photographic site, lifestyle, eCommerce store for advance users etc. It's generally appart from WordPress one of those platforms I respect so much when making websites for my clients. They take care of Hosting service and your domain you only pay for their platform and start using it. Cons It's not the best place for content management and therefore do not offer total user experience for companies website just like with WordPress, you can post publications in a blog section of your website. When Wix works, it's great but be sure to give yourself 2 or 3 times more time than expected to fix your layout. If you have a simple layout and do not need to display data in tables, Wix may be a good choice for you. Pros In general, the templates and layouts are super simple to use. Its easy to add images and text and customize layouts. Cons Where do I start? The layouts are good but basic. As soon as the layout gets customized beyond the basics, it becomes nearly impossible to control section layout from resizing and breaking the section mobile layout. Aligned items become maligned. Fonts randomly resort back to default. If you want to constantly redo your layout, Wix is for you. Also, the system often operates at a snails pace making development nearly impossible. The documentation is plentiful but often useless. Probably the most perplexing choice by Wix was to upgrade the platform and remove recurring tables. The previous version of tables was simple, but removing tables completely is forcing me to look for a new platform. They will lie to you and tell you that repeaters work just like tables, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The stock photos are also a great touch and add sophistication to any website. Pros I love how the themes were so easily customizable! I've used dozens of web developers but Wix is easily my favorite. You can select a theme from a catalog of beautifully designed themes and add/remove whatever you want. The designers made developing a beautiful, original, and personalized site easy and effortless. The stock photos made available are also awesome! Cons I don't have much to complain about. But if I had to something, I would say what I like least about this software is the how difficult it is to undo progress from previous sessions. I wish I could reload older versions of my webpage. It was in place before I started working with her. The first thing you notice about it is that the website editor is very easy to use and quite friendly for non-coders. It is basically a drag and drop editor that reminds me of sites like Geocities, Angelfire and Homestead from years gone by. In this regard it is much easier to work with than something like Wordpress or Drupal. However, the ease of use comes with a price, both figuratively and literally. At a price of between $14.00 and $39.00 a month, premium features are more costly than a lot of similar options. The free version is very limited. There are few applications or plugins within the system and it's not really conducive to SEO compared to some other website builders. All in all, it's a pretty mixed bag that is more suitable to beginners or people uninterested in coding. Pros The best feature of Wix is the ease of use.
