WIX provides this without taking the financial obligation. After Covid, I see remote working as being the norm in the apparel industry. Iam seriously considering opting for the premium plan to garner more business. I am impressed with how they continue to evolve the platform and integrate other platforms for a seamless way of working Pros I set up my WIX account 5 years ago. While I am in the design field my main focus is on apparel design not web development. I am happy that I do not need to have coding skills to set up my website and have maintained the site with minimal effort. Creating the site from scratch is challenging at first because you have to get accustomed to how the tools work. After, the platform is relatively easy to navigate and easy to update withnew design work. I send clients a link where they can easily navigate the tabs on the site and see the various product categories I design. I am very happy with the overall look and appearance. Now that we are working remotely I am romancing the idea of paying for account vs. for free. When you have a free account you have the WIX banner on your site. WIX also provides you with analytics so you can see how well your site is doing and provides you with both links and services to boost your visibilty. Cons I have been using WIX at a minimum without converting to a paying customer, it's been ok to present time but with remote working on the rise I feel I will need to add the premium service. I still haven't ordered since I am comparing which software product will provide the most for money. While $15 doesn't seem a lot, as a freelancer, all the applications I use start to add up. When we onboard a new client and realize that they have built their website on Wix, generally one of the first things that we do is check which pieces of marketing technology they have installed, and thankfully this is a place where Wix really shines! Integrating things like Google analytics and Facebook's pixel are super easy and quick to accomplish and don't require us to do any coding, which helps speed things along. Pros I usually like to compare Wix and Squarespace being in the same general class of website building tool. However, recently I've come to prefer Wix because it allows for a significantly greater amount of customization than does Squarespace. It affords you this flexibility while still being relatively simple to use and easy to configure, making it a great choice for client websites where the client will need to maintain and update their website after you, as an agency, are done building it for them. That means that it is significantly preferable to a more complex system like WordPress, if the goal is to be able to fully hand off a finished product and not have to think about it again. The most frustrating thing has been lack of customization options in the site editor, and dealing with their customer service. I've reached out to their customer service multiple times, and it never takes less than TWO days for them to reply via email, and when they have follow up questions, it takes ANOTHER two days for them to reply to that, so it can take upwards of an entire week to solve relatively simple problems with your website unless you're in a position to be able to use their phone support during their business hours. Pros Wix can be very easy to use if all you're looking for is a basic, slick website and don't have the need for minute customization options. There are also a fairly decent array of first-party and third-party "apps" that can be added to the site to bring additional functionality. And to be honest, if you don't mind not having a fully-customized URL, Wix allows you to do A LOT for free (with their own branding at the top of your page). Cons Web designers that are looking to be a little more adventurous with their customization will have a frustrating time with Wix. Things don't always work how you want them to, and it seems like there just aren't enough options when trying to decide among various layouts, fonts sizes, blog feeds, etc. Their "help" pages are also incredibly lacking in useful information and aren't much help at all. (Ex: doing a search on how to add contributors to your site leads to a page that says something like "Just go to your member's page, and from the drop-down menu, select "make contributor!" Except that the article doesn't tell you how to create or find your member's page, so then you have to do another help search on how to create a member's page, etc.) Dealing with their customer support is also unpleasant -- they take a very long time to respond to help requests, and many times, the person that responds doesn't understand the issue. It is integrated with social media networks. That made it easy for me to share y content across all my social media accounts from my website using its social media buttons. It is compatible with mobile devices. That made it easy for me to manage my blog from my android phone irrespective of my location. I also like its editing features. It makes it easy for me to customize images on my blog to whatever dimension I choose. Cons Wix is expensive compared to other platforms. I didn’t have the liberty of choosing any other hosting company which kind of sucks. Also, my blog has a watermark on it because I am using its free plan. That tells people that I don’t have money for its paid hosting service, which is kind of embarrassing to me. Another thing I don’t like about Wix is this; you have to be sure about the template you choose before making your blog go live. It will be difficult to change. Pros As a digital agency owner, small businesses usually reach out to us for custom built websites. If their business is just getting started and isn't too complex, I recommend them to go to Wix. Wix has a very simple website creation tool but can be stacked with multiple features depending on the user's needs. For example, you can add a booking tool for consultants. You can add an eCommerce tool for people that sell inventory. They even have features for hotels. Unlike other platforms like WordPress, the upgraded features are built by Wix and therefore the quality is better. In WordPress, there are far more plugins but they often need to be updated or aren't always consistently good in quality. Wix solves this problem quite well. Cons There are two issues that users may find with Wix. Firstly, the learning curve is steep. It's interface isn't always intuitive and it's not always clear how to get basic things set up. Second, the extra features are great - but they come at a price that isn't always easy to figure out up front. For example, you may want to sign up for a business that allows to book a consultations and accept payments. Those are two separate features and priced separately.
