August 25, 2019 5.0 The business problem that we solved with Wix was being able to find a tool in which we can create a mockup of our ideal website. By doing so on Wix, we were easily able to show the developer of our website exactly how we wanted everything to look and how we wanted certain elements to respond to users. Pros I know that many people use Wix to create and host their websites. However, I took a different approach and used Wix for creating mockups of our website. The programmer was then able to use the design I made on Wix to create the actual website. This really helped me do this because since there's so much that can be done on Wix, it can be very useful for creating a realistic mockup of a website. What I really liked were all the functionalities that were available to users, which I was able to integrate into my mockup. Cons What I liked the least about Wix was that websites are often extremely laggy and response can be slow. For example, when I used the hover tool to create a box that hovered in the website I created, the website would become slow and slightly freeze when I'd hover my mouse over it. If I have had difficulty the step-by-step was there to help and in one instance the customer support was able to fill in the blanks I couldn't find on my own. Cons Most of the errors and problems I had were created by myself. I think the biggest problem that I would say I have had is that as an extremely small business a lot of the things are geared for bigger businesses. Pros This was by far the easiest platform to use when compared to Squarespace, Wordpress and Weebly. This was used to create a website for a client that has a private practice and it was easy to integrate our SimplePractice booking software. We also were able to get a simple e-store setup and connect all our multimedia from our social channels. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out some of the advanced design features but once you get used to the web design tool then it gets easier. I’m able to promote all my products within a twinkle of an eye. In fact, I love this app so much. I’m able to develop more than one website on Wix and set up email campaigns very easily. The app is cost effective as well and I’m able to make any little changes any time that I choose to. Even though there are little challenges with the app, I still love it. Pros With Wix app, I think it is very easy to use for beginners because of its features. Also, it has variety of photo styles for your store. It allows you to upload your own photos as well. You can easily drag and drop any photo either from your own photo gallery or from Wix. You can easily make changes per items with 100% customization. But one thing is that I had to use Shopify cart functionality to load a lot of items because Wix cannot bare the capacity. Cons What I don’t like about this app is that, I’m not able to load as many items as I want on the cart and this makes me choose Shopify over Wix , because with Shopify I’m able do that without the cart crashing. The ease of use coupled with the options of use make Wix AWESOME! I love that I can customize my site and yet have the option peruse templates to get ideas or use. The amount of options is enough to feel like I can be creative, but not so much that it feels overwhelming. Wix keeps up with the ever evolving additions, subtractions, and reformatting like a champ. The ability to make changes quickly is pivotal; I don't want to spend hours figuring out how to make edits. The resources page is helpful and easy to follow, allowing me to find the answers, make the changes, and reap the benefits. Cons While I the pros of Wix far outweigh the cons, I did have some trouble with the video upload content. This could be because of my lack of tech savviness, but I found that adding a video to the site was a battle of formats. In the end, the resources page was my go to and work saver. Their robust library of templates will fit almost anybody's needs, and their easy to use with third party hosting apps which can be preferable to their often pricey hosting fees. One thing that could use improvement is their mobile website builder which can prove to be not as accurate as shown. Pros Wix is super easy to pick up and run with thanks to a large library of very attractive and versatile templates to start from. Cons Their add on services can be pricey leaving you looking elsewhere. And their mobile development tool isn't as accurate as the desktop one. November 9, 2018 5.0 Again, I'm not super-tech and I got my website up in one day. It was painless and I'm happy with the result. Once I had my base built I've been able to easily make edits as needed. Pros \- I am NOT a developer and I'd say I'm an average user when it comes to tech. With this said, I was able to build and publish a website in 1 day. - The variety of templates are amazing. They are categorized well and all look very nice. It makes it really easy to find something that I like and jump into customization. - A very straightforward menu to choose from with a huge variety of options - say you want to add a 'contact us' section, there are quite a few nice examples to start with - The add-ons are great, things like scheduling and accepting payments are wonderful. - The Help/FAQ sections available are very helpful. Cons \- When you add a blog page from the menu, there are great example posts. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to keep those to reference / edit without them appearing on my site when it's published. There are ways to hide pages, but not things on a page. - Once you add a custom color you can't remove it. This becomes really confusing when you're testing out similar colors; once you select the one you want you to have to remember it exactly and be able to choose that over the others you tested.
