Pros Wix has been around for awhile now and they are constantly upgraded and adding new features. They don't say, "yes we hear you, we're working on it". They say "we heard you, here it is", and it's always smooth and flawless additions. Cons The only thing (which is inevitable in life), the cost has increased substantially and I've had medical issues this year and couldn't afford my top premium renewal and had to go down to basic. For under $300 a year you can get a full-on website, CRM dashboard (like ZOLO), marketing tools (like Mail Chimp), calendar app, scheduling, online stores. I literally have built a 6-page website in a day. WIX has great customer support and will walk me through steps if I need any help. Pros As a BFA graphic designer and marketing consultant, until WIX came on the scene I had to rely on computer Word Press tech people to build my client's websites. I never was happy with the restrictive specs and boring look and feel. WIX modern templates can easily be customized. The drag and drop text blocks, strips, gallery templates, videos, forms, and more can be added and manipulated quickly. WIX has a lot of apps to add on - as well as SEO - get found on Google wizard tools. I no longer have to pay a 3rd party for the part of the website build. Adjusting the mobile version is also an intuitive process. Win-win website software. PLUS, it includes CRM tools, email / content push templates, analytics, and more. Cons One feature I miss is being able to do text wraps around images. They explained to me - that if they included the feature it messes with the auto-conversion into the mobile version. Which makes sense. Also it would be great if I had a media library I could use across all of my websites. Each site has its own media library. I understand Square Space has this feature, but it does not have all the other features WIX has I want. I recommend it if you have the money to pay and have not tried other options. Pros I liked the versatility, they were very creative with the default templates, the colors are more than eye catching and overall it is intuitive to use. On the other hand, the general presentation and the explosion of colors invite to use it and help to exploit creativity, although in general there are few changes that would be made to any design, if it were not for the name and content. The price seems high to me and there are other ways to design a web page for free, besides there are countless new applications that give you good ideas to start at no cost; I would also like them to say precisely how the costs will be handled and not just hook you in and then raise the prices. February 13, 2022 4.0 I've been using Wix for 6 months and have been very happy with the platform. I use the platform as my primary web solution to build and host my client's websites. While I am a web designer and SEO manager find the templates a helpful starting point in my design process. They have improved the gallery solution to host images but still aren't that good. Setting up personal domains and URLs is easy with WIX and as far as price point goes, it's expensive comparing it to all the other solutions like WordPress. Wix also offers many abilities to build a blog and focus on SEO that I have not made the most of yet but will be doing so in the future. Overall, the software needs improvement. Pros Wix is a flexible website builder with a lot of options. You can create a website from the ground up, including a home page, a blog, and pretty much anything else you would need. The templates provide a starting point, but you can customize most of them to fit your needs. You may improve your SEO by following the guidelines and linking it to Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics. You can also buy your domain along with their package, which saves you time. Cons Many issues exist when it comes to posting images, particularly in the spacing between each photo in blog posts. It's a minor detail, but as a designer, I've wasted a lot of time trying to resolve these design difficulties. They are well put together and easy to understand. Wix also does online classes covering various areas. I don't find these as useful. The presenters are obviously experts but are not necessarily great teachers. Mostly I find they try to include far too much information and deliver it too quickly. Wix has a large range of good, modern designs, with inbuilt SEO options that make building your own website pretty easy. I also like that there is an inbuilt mobile website version which you can preview as you go along. Cons Wix also does online classes covering various areas. I don't find these particularly useful. The presenters are obviously experts but are not necessarily great teachers. Mostly I find they try to include far too much information and deliver it too quickly. Customer service is very response and has helped on a couple of occasions to quickly resolve an issue with the website's function. It does have some glitchy areas in the website builder, but I think if you follow the tutorials and use the recommended browsers they are less likely to be bothersome. I was able to recommend the platform to many of our starting out freelancers and they easily became accustomed, which was not the case for Wordpress and godaddy unfortunately— as I do personally enjoy them. Cons Wix could improve features for amateurs via their store building systems. These were a bit complicated for me, with 5+ years of website building. Also consider that Wordpress features won’t convert and that any external designer will need to understand wix before creating features to be added in manually. I have brought in a few professionals to assist with certain website functions, and we hit roadblock after roadblock as WIX uses unique processes to create their platforms— html wise. Pros I like how welcoming it was for those with no experience and how the sign up was quick and easy. Another pro is the part I’ll just name the “guide” in which they ask you about your logo for your business, what type of business you had and etc. Basically trying to get their user and showing temp pre made templates based on the information collected, now like I said before the pre made templates are mediocre, so I would recommend improving on those and for users to use blank template and let their creativity flow. Cons Other than the pre made templates I think I dislike the prices for buying domain, I did rate them kind of expensive, which I think now I would rate them more on the expensive side, as there a bunch of other domain sellers, who sell at way cheaper prices and some at same length (1 year) and others more than that. By the time I was done with what I thought was a basic website I was at their highest level of payment this was extreme disappointment being I was trying to run a fundraising website for my service dog and his vet bills. Also when I went to transfer everything to another site it was found not to be able to be copied. It claims you can copy it to another site but when we contacted support nobody responded back when we had trouble with the SEO nobody responded back they were not helpful in any way when they did respond back because they would just tell us to read the FAQ which did not answer our question. That being said, it was not the fault of the support staff, as they sent me a proof-of-concept video and were easier to work with. Pros It can be as easy as you want it to be. Templates, basic features and functions are all there. There are a lot of articles through their own website to look back on. Cons Some things are wildly frustrating to mange and make sense of. It's really all dependent upon how in to the weeds you are getting. The more you customize, the more you find that things don't even have the option to work the way you would want or expect. The articles were not as in-depth as I would like them to be in some cases, and when searching, often times the Wix and Editor X would overlap (which their interface does not necessarily line up) making it really frustrating to find an answer and left me going around in circles.
