It makes it easy to bring KPIs into one centralized view, with filters that let clients analyze performance by channel, campaign, date range, etc. Scheduled reporting also saves time and reduces the need to manually assemble recurring updates. However, the visualization and formatting options can feel rigid when a client wants more customized branding or presentation-ready charts, and larger dashboards can be slow to load. The Gemini integration is useful for asking questions and generating charts or dashboard tiles through written prompts, but it cannot yet redesign or adjust an existing dashboard through a simple conversation. Overall, Looker is a dependable platform for consistent client reporting, though greater visual flexibility would make it significantly better. Lastly, more powerful prompt-based editing would take the platform's effectiveness and hence, its value to agencies and advertisers alike, to an entirely new level. Pros What I like most about Looker is how effectively it turns performance marketing data into clear, client-friendly dashboards. I can bring key metrics such as spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, CPA, ROAS, etc., into one central view. The filters and drill-downs make it easy to analyze performance by channel, campaign, audience, or date range without building a new report each time. Standardized metric definitions also give clients confidence that everyone is working from the same numbers. Scheduled dashboard deliveries save time and keep stakeholders informed without requiring repetitive manual reporting. Overall, Looker helps me spend less time assembling reports and more time interpreting results and identifying opportunities to improve performance. Cons What I like least about Looker is that building polished client dashboards can feel more rigid than it should. The visualization and formatting options are limited, especially when clients request specific branding, custom layouts, or presentation-ready charts. Larger dashboards can also load slowly when they include data from multiple marketing channels or cover longer date ranges. Looker’s Gemini integration adds useful conversational analytics, but the prompt-driven experience still feels limited. I can ask questions in plain language and generate metrics, charts, or new dashboard tiles based on governed data, which is helpful for quick analysis. However, I cannot simply prompt Looker to redesign an existing dashboard, rearrange the layout, or make a series of live visual changes. Most responses appear as standalone results or guided queries, so users still have to rely on traditional editing tools to implement changes. We can create just the right data set based on our customer's needs. Cons The amount of data can be overwhelming and we find that a lot of clients won't look at the dashboards unless we're looking at it with them in a meeting. It's enabled us to automate many of the time consuming tasks involved with reporting. Now when we get a board request or need to report periodically on x and y activity, we can do it quickly. Pros It's been really beneficial for marketing in terms of being able to provide visualisations of data. This really helps with board reporting, taking the sting out of having to trawl GA4 and export and make accessible. Now we have custom reports set up to do all this for us and it hasn't cost us anything. It now automates a large amount of marketing analytics reporting with few issues, saving serious staff time. Cons It took some time to get it all set up, a couple of weeks, operating on a tight budget we had to learn much of it ourselves but the training materials are accessible, if time consuming. This really levelled us up as a team regardless once we'd been through the initial discomfort. The charting and graphs offer sufficient flexibility for the BI team to create the corresdonding reports and are easy to setup with reasonable ressources. A fairly priced solution given the variety of functions. It provides a great selection of basic data visual tools and data integration options across several platforms. Looker does fall down a little bit when it comes to more advanced data handling and lacks some more complex data visualisation tools which competitors like Tableau provide. Use looker if you want a quick easy to pick up tool to create data visuals at a good standard. You may want to look at other options for more advanced options especially if you are communciating this data to senior stakeholders in a large company Pros Overall Looker is a good platform to build and develop useful data visuals and developed dashboards. The main benefit is the plethora of compatible sources of data. Utilising a mix of G suite and Microsoft looker can pull data from both googles platforms and microsoft as well as CSV files. Understandably looker is optimised for the G suite. This is a great benefit. I heavily rely on Bigquery. Within 3 clicks I can connect a big query script to a looker dashboard and begin working on creating clear and coherent visuals on the back of the data. Looker does give several customisable options for visuals. Utilising various charts like box and whisper and line charts as well as being able to overlay several data sources to have a simple clear visual on how different data sources compare. This is a great tool to easily visualise things for non technical and techincal stakeholders alike. On the whole I have not experienced and significant issues or bugs within in looker studio which inistelf is a great postive. Cons One of the key visuals that would be useful in looker is a data heat map. There are ways of doing this in looker however it requires several workarounds that are not the most accurate and don't deliver the requirements I require. This data visual is available in Tableau and is a key benefit over looker for me as I look at geographical trends which are easily illustratable to non techincal stakeholders. Another con however is a standard across modern cloud platforms is the reliablity on a third party provider. When there are outages on google this renders looker useless until this is fixed. This results in delays to daily work which is out of your control as an end user. At the moment I am delivering 200 monthly reports with this source, works great and is reliable. Pros The reports are very customable, you can design a report almost as if you were working in power point. Like a drag-and-drop of different type of charts, and everything is connected to the sources you integrate. Cons It takes time to understand the tool, the resources integration can be confusing when you start using it. Also many useful charts are not available unless you install extensions. Spectator ease of use is its greatest distinguishing feature. with . 2. Looker allows the user to learn more about the data (by creating insights and visualization). In other words, it shifts the workload from the analysts to a platform that can do the analysis independently. This helps with sizing. 3. Since Looker is a browser-based platform, it can be installed on any public cloud service and has flexible cloud database migration options. Cons I've noticed that dashboards take a long time to load when there is a lot of traffic. This is annoying, especially when we have a deadline to meet. 2. Cons A little complex on the integration part with other system softwares is what I noticed as a struggle in my work environment. Pros I love the customization of Looker, and that you can put large amounts of data into the hands of anyone -- in a way that makes sense \[to them\]! While their product is great, it speaks volumes to the team. It's an amazing group of people that continue to receive feedback from their customers and iterate time and time again on their product. They truly care about data and their customers, and they want to empower them the best they can. Cons When modeling views, I wish you could define better filters for measures but it's limited. There are workarounds, meaning modeling out several additional dimensions to arrive at the measure you need to pull regularly, but it'd be much more efficient to allow for measures to be more nuanced. Large dashboards (with 25+ tiles) can take awhile to load, which is understandable. Once their "merge results" feature is fully rolled out and we're able to save them as new tiles or looks, it should help resolve the need for so many tiles. We usually need dashboards very quickly and don't really use them that long, so the ability Looker provides for designing charts and tables fast has been a massive relief. Pros I love how quickly you can set up advanced charts with it without using code. Being able to create dashboards from scratch in a short amount of time is a huge plus for us as we usually deal with unique instances that require new bits of data. Pros The best feature at Looker is the way to can connect to multiple sources at once and create complex reporting and data analytics. Another good feature that worth to be mentioned is that I can share these reports with my colleagues with a shareable link or easily export in PDF and share. Due its connection with sources the reports are always up to date as it imports the data automaticaly. Cons I found it a little hard at first to create a complete report for my needs. Paired with a kick-ass centralized data warehouse (we use Snowflake), Looker lets us roll things out very quickly (provided our data infrastructure is in good shape). It did take a while to get going with Looker because it lays on top of the existing data infrastructure. Now that we have quite a bit of strong infrastructure in place in our centralized data warehouse, we are able to produce data products in Looker quite quickly. Pros Provisioning security allows us to control the user experience (and only show users things they would actually care about). This makes a dashboard or data product rollout far smoother. Additionally, the customer support (especially through the chat interface) is absolutely fantastic. Because Looker creates a custom URL for each explore you're working on, you can share with Customer Support your exact problem and work together to find a solution. Cons Looker Sales told us beforehand that it "writes the most performant SQL possible." I have not found this to be the case, as it often casts and does a few other things (I suspect to make it runnable no matter how you've set up your data). There are some limitations on the visualizations, etc., but Looker Customer Service has been super responsive when those come up.
